Past, Present, and Future of 3D Software Visualization - A Systematic Literat...Richard Müller
The ongoing 2D vs. 3D research debate from information visualization also affects software visualization. There are many 2D, 3D, and combinations of 2D and 3D visualizations for software representing its structure, behavior, or evolution. This study contributes findings to this debate and presents the results of analyzing the applications of 3D in software visualization with the objectives to outline the state-of-the-art, to reveal trends, and to identify research gaps. The analysis combined a systematic mapping study to get an overview and a systematic literature review to gain deeper insights. The relevant papers were identified by three different search strategies (manual browsing, keyword, and backward search). Starting with a set of 4386 publications from the fields of information and software visualization 155 relevant papers dealing with 2D & 3D or 3D software visualizations were identified. These papers were analyzed according to dimensionality, aspect, year, evaluation method, and application of the third dimension. In a nutshell, the majority of 3D software visualizations represents the structural aspect, is either evaluated using case studies showing working examples or not evaluated at all, and applies a 2D layout using the third dimension for displaying software metrics.

Chapter Readings Reflections Journal
Chapter 1: Defining Data Visualization
Summary
In Chapter 1, the author Mr. Kirk describes about the concept of Data Visualization. Data visualization was defined as the visual analysis and communication of data. The chapter also included the historical background survey definition of data visualization by various other authors.
Also, in the book was a set of fascinating recipes that of the components in that involve in the definition. The type of data that is required to be visually analyzed is important before it is being subjected to further processing before visualization.
Mr. Kirk also emphasized the significance of the art and science of making data analysis a fun filled technical and an analytical reading that encourages the use of human perception to make decisions in assistance of visual treats that come in the form of graphs, pie charts among others. The science of data visualization is defined with the implication of truth, evidence and rules that govern the process of visualizing a set of data that can be quintessential in determining the path of an enterprise or an organization.
Highlights:
Upon reading the chapter 1 in this book that was in depth into data visualization, I was able to grasp essential technical and analytical definitions and can say they are quiet telling in terms of the importance on the concept and visual representation of the definitions. The use of some of the citations was a key indicator that data visualization can be defined in various ways and can assist in technical improvements if used in way that is beneficial to all parties.
Ideas and thoughts:
The chapter was a thorough analysis of the concept. However, I was also keen on looking for live examples of visual tools or results of analysis inculcated in this defining place of the book. The big positive is the use of the concept of science and art that can be implemented in the day to day activities to introduce data visualization in any area and can help in making decisions that can set a trend for the growth of an organization. In terms of the course, it was a great read to write this review journal and can hopefully add a firm base to the things to come.
Application:
The concept of data visualization can be implemented in my current work environment. As an IT personnel, I deal with the network infrastructure and constantly come across large chunk of data that will need to be analyzed for its usage stats, bandwidth, performance and benefits of choosing the hardware or software accordingly. To best impact this, the monitoring tools such a s NetFlow helps us in verifying bandwidth over utilization or underutilization to perform a set of tasks before troubleshooting any related issues. Now, the concept of data visualization can be implemented here ...

The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

Here is an Essential Question that will guide our work together. Please take a moment to review it and think about how you engage your students. We will revisit this question later in the session.
Good Morning! And thank you for having me in today to share some ways to engage students using graphic organizers. Ms. Hawkins and I had a conversation a few weeks ago on engaging students in writing and what better way to build upon students ’ prior knowledge and organize their thoughts to prepare for writing than the use of graphic organizers. She asked me to share some strategies and here I am. Thank you! We are going to take a look at the purpose for graphic organizers and how to engage students with using them.
Here are some norms that I ask everyone adhere to: I encourage everyone to participate, honor time limits, be open to new ideas and if you have a cell phone please put it on vibrate.
For the sake of time, I am asking everyone to use the Parking Lot if you have any questions or comments to write them down on the post-it located on your table and place them on the Parking Lot. At the end of the session, I will address them. There will not be a formal break so please leave if you have to use the restroom or take a call.
Say: Let ’s dive in… Within our classrooms our students are very different. How are you able to teach your class with all of these differences? What are you currently doing? Take a minute to share how you are currently trying to meet each individual’s needs in your classroom. Do: Give everyone a minute to share with a partner. Increased Language Development Higher-level thinking prompts more use of language. Students have more exposure to the language of thought. New content vocabulary is clearly presented on the organizer.
Turn to your partner and share How are you engaging your students effectively other than assigning workbook pages, dittos, or copying from the board? How are you engaging students at higher-levels of thinking?
Graphic organizers are used as a visual aid to help students comprehend; structure information, access prior knowledge and make connections. This technique is a tool to see if students can interpret what is being taught. If a student can connect prior knowledge with what was learned and identify relationships between ideas, they are actively learning.
Graphic organizers are effective when relationships between facts, terms, and ideas make connections. Students are able to organize their own thoughts about a story, which leads to discussions and plan their own writing piece. Before instruction , you may use a graphic organizer to build on prior knowledge and new ideas. During instruction , graphic organizers can help students to actively reorganize key information. And, After instruction , students can construct their own organizers to organize key concepts.
When you assign a graphic organizer to students, what do you want them to be able to do? Identify information and write it down. There should be a transition to summarize the gathered information into a well organized writing piece. It is equally significant to increase fluency in writing as it is to increase fluency in reading. Both are aligned and graphic organizers helps to make a connection in developing higher level of thinking. Keep mind when planning your lesson to be intentional about how you want students to use the graphic organizer…Next Slide
and ensure students' thinking progress at higher levels using Analysis, Synthesis, and Evaluate of Bloom ’s Taxonomy. You want students to be able to think at higher levels. Developing their vocabulary and reading more informational text will develop higher level of thinking.
Let ’s look at some examples of the next few slides to engage students.
When introducing students to a new graphic organizer, you should describe its purpose, model its use, and provide students with opportunities for guided practice. Here is a sample of a Venn Diagram. This particular graphic organizer can be use for a variety of uses and content areas. Students of all ages can engage with this. As the teacher introduce the lesson on the different types of transportation that was used years ago and compare it to today students are able to identify the various types of transportation over time and using pictures place them in its appropriate place. For grades 1 and up, … next slide
Students can identify using text. At your leisure, peruse the power-point handout for more ideas on how to engage students using the graphic organizers. As you see they can be used for all content areas.
Here is a comparison chart with using a Venn Diagram.
At this time, I want to engage you with using a graphic organizer. If you have a yellow folder, please transition to the Yellow table, Orange; Blue, and Green. In your group you will read a story and complete a authentic graphic organizer and share out. Take 15 minutes to complete this exercise. I ’m going to ask that each group share on how you aligned the text with the graphic organizer.
This is a Web graphic organizer to illustrate the main topic. Graphic organizers are visual tools that can be used for all content areas; there are a variety of graphic organizers that can be used for a variety of uses.
These are the outcomes we accomplished today. Please take a moment to review these and give me a thumbs up if we accomplished our goals. Thank you all for our session today! . Please take a moment to fill out the evaluation form, it is located in the back of your folder on green paper. I value and appreciate your feedback!
Also, you will find a yellow sheet with some websites addresses for additional graphic organizers.
