A highly interactive hangout session was conducted on World kidney Day on
13th March, that enabled people to come up with all their concerns and
queries regarding Kidney care.
Dr. Nagesh Aghor, Senior Consultant, Nephrologist at Wockhardt
hospitals, addressed to all the queries vividly.

What can be the possible reason behind it?

Etiology of kidney stones is multifactorial i.e. environmental factors, dietary
factors & genetical background.
If possible, whenever he passes kidney stones or is operated and his stones are
removed, please send the stone for chemical analysis. He can then follow
specific dietary precaution according to the nature of kidney stone.

•In general, a person with stone should take total liquid intake of 3 L/day.
• She should avoid non vegetarian diet, along with
spinach, chauli, cauliflower, brinjal, mushroom, chicoo, grapes, pumpkin, strawb
erries, cashew nuts, cocoa, chocolates, tea & coffee, carbonated drinks.
•She should take care of her diabetes, as per her physicians advice. If the stone
is removed in surgery of passed in urine, kidney send it for analysis, depending
on the result, specific dietary restrictions can be followed.

My intake of the pill, Combiflame is around 20-25 tablets a month. Will it
have an adverse affect on my kidneys?

In long term if somebody consumer a total of 2000 gm to 3000 gm of
combination of analgesic (NSAID's) the person can develop
osteoporosis, gastric/duodenal ulcers and hypertension.
