The month of May is set aside each year to celebrate African American History.
When you think of Black History month, the first thing that we all think about is
the historical speech, I have a dream . However, he did so much more than just
present the speech that we all are familiar with had moral values that he stood for
and was the leader of many civil right movements. This man is known as Martin
Luther King. He was born on January 15, 1929 in Atlanta, Georgia. Martin Jr. s
parents were Reverend Martin Luther King, Sr. and Alberta Williams King. King Jr.
s father and his grandfather were both ministers and Martin s mother was a school

and was recognized worldwide. When was informed that he had been chosen for
the prize money he stated that he was going to give a portion equally 54,123 to

King was staying in a motel in Memphis, Tennessee. He was there to lead a protest
march in sympathy of garbage workers who were on strike. He was standing on his
balcony outside one early evening right outside his motel room when he was shot
and assassinated by a single shot which hit his face and neck. Within an hour he
was pronounced dead at 7:05 p.m. at St. Joseph s Hospital. Not too long after the
murder, a package was dropped off near the door of Canipe s Amusement Co. close
by the scene, and a white Mustang sped away. The Memphis police officers found
the pack to contain a .30 06 rifle, ammunition, a pair of binoculars, and other items.
In 1968, the national holiday Martin Luther King Jr. Day was designated to honor
this exceptional man and his efforts in the civil right movements. It is observed on
the third Monday of January each year, which is around the time of King s birthday,
January 15. It was officially observed in all 50 states for the first time in 2000.
3. Essay on Analysis of Blackberry Picking by Seamus Heaney
Analysis of Blackberry Picking by Seamus Heaney
Once the reader can passes up the surface meaning of the poem Blackberry Picking,
by Seamus Heaney, past the emotional switch from sheer joy to utter disappointment,
past the childhood memories, the underlying meaning can be quite disturbing.
Hidden deep within the happy go lucky rifts of childhood is a disturbing tale of greed
and murder. Seamus Heaney, through clever diction, ghastly imagery, misguided
metaphors and abruptly changing forms, ingeniously tells the tale that is understood
and rarely spoken aloud. Seamus Heaney refers to Bluebeard at the end of stanza
one. Bluebeard, according to the footnote, is a character in a fairy tale who murders
his wives. Why on earth would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Realizing unconsciously seems like an oxymoron, but the speaker does not
consciously realize the horrors of his actions, while deep down understands what he
has done. The speaker s extreme joy from hording all the delicious blackberries turns
into horror upon witnessing their fermentation (2nd stanza). The speaker realizes that
all good things must come to an end. He knows that, out of his greed, he has
murdered these blackberries, made then ferment and caused them to loose their
succulent appeal.
At first glance this poem seems a happy tale of childhood. These are memories that
make the heart smile. Images of heavy summer storms full of rain, alternating with
bright, joyous sunshine, full bushels of blackberries waiting to be picked; these
are images most can relate with. The reader can taste the bitter sweetness of the
summer s first blackberry, feel the scratch of briars against their own skin, sense
the excitement and butterflies in their own stomachs as they race to gather all the
wondrous blackberries they can, followed by the anger and the disappointment
when the blackberries rot and ferment before the readers eyes. However, if the
reader were to take the diction and imagery quite literally, a somewhat different
picture is aroused. ...a glossy purple clot... (line 3) describing the first ripened
blackberry, brings to mind the picture of a nasty blood clot in someone s veins, why
would Heaney compare blackberries to blood clots?
4. The Importance Of English Literature
High school has been my most treasurable experience so far; a time where I have
learnt about a range of topics and developed the skills to view things from a
personal perspective. For this, I owe a great thanks to all my English teachers;
especially Mrs Hinds, who is here with us today and Mrs Lyndon, who helped
prepare us for our final stretch of school. While preparing for this speech, when I
read the assessments from the past two years, it surprised me to realise how much
I had missed the point of each of the tasks. Only now while nearing the end this
twelve year part of my life, have I realised the importance of each individual topic.
I realised that no other subject has delved into such a range of diverse matters from
the present and past. Just as in Harper Lee s quote from To Kill a Mockingbird :
People generally see what they look for and hear what they listen for . What I missed
were the fascinating features of our culture, encapsulated in varying English
literature; which of course, were obvious when studying the works of Shakespeare or
of the Romantic poets of the eighteenth and nineteenth century. But only after my
interest in the subject spiked was I able to understand that I was missing deeper
aspects hidden within all types of literature. [linking sentence] A form of literature I
used to enjoy in its most meaningless state was music. Without giving it a second
thought, I used to view music as empty entertainment until we analysed a song and

5. Elon Musk And Its Impact On The Planet
Within every generation, there are some individuals who transcend expectations and
seek to innovate beyond all preconceived boundaries. Elon Musk is one of those
individuals, and he s currently valued at $11.9 billion.
But how did this South African born entrepreneur make his way into virtually every
technological industry on the planet? How did he become the space traveling,
futuristic car selling, loudmouthed computer genius we all know today?
Elon Musk took an interest in computing and innovation from a very young age. By
his thirteenth birthday, he had already taught himself programming, constructed a
complex space themed computer game, and sold it to a large corporation. After
moving to the United States and earning a bachelor degrees in Economics and
Physics from the University of Pennsylvania, Musk moved on to Stanford University
in attempt to earn his PhD in energy physics.
What follows is a tremendous rise to success. Taking a look at exactly what
happened, what struggles and what successes this man endured, we are in turn able
to learn valuable lessons on hard work, innovation, and life itself. Here are the most
powerful takeaways from Elon Musk s life, as said in his own words:
When something is important enough, you do it even if the odds are not in your favor.
Musk never did complete that PhD at Stanford. After only two days, he decided to
drop out and pursue his passions in the fields of energy, technology and space travel.

9. Melba Pattillo Beals, Cear Chavez, And Mother Jones
It s very hard to stand up for people s rights, but Melba Pattillo Beals, Cesar Chavez,
and Mother Jones are three individuals that did. Melba fought for equality while
Chavez and Mother Jones worked to improve working conditions. These three heroic
individuals all enacted change in a positive way for human rights.
Melba Pattillo Beals was a very brave individual who fought to end segregation. She,
along with eight other students integrated Central High School, which was an all
white prestigious school. She was mistreated by her peers, for example, Melba
states that on the first day of school I was trying to escape the hanging rope of a
lynch mob, dodging lightened sticks of dynamite, and washing away burning acid
sprayed in my eyes (Beals 1). Melba went through many challenges in her days
integrating, but she continued to step up to the plate, showing how brave and
determined she was. In addition, while Melba was trying to use the restroom,
flaming paper balls came piling down on her, and as she screamed for help, she
breathed it in and choked, finally she threw her textbooks at the attackers as
defense (Beals 164). This shows the fact that Melba has courage and is not afraid
to fight back. In the end it was all worth it, Melba ended up being able to attend
San Francisco State University, where she roomed with people of different skin
colors (Beals 310). In conclusion, she came a long way and went from being an
innocent young girl to a well known, brave individual, who

The pub was chosen to be the place to meet. It was meant to be a friendly place

simulation and we actually knew each other as friends, I m guessing the real world
scenario would be slightly different, or at least the effect of choosing a friendly
place would have different impact than I would imagine. That being said, I did

I didn t care much about whether the money comes directly from Pipeline or from the
Russian Government internally. All I cared about was scaling the $10 service I
demanded to at least $3,000,000, given we had from 300,000 to 400,000 tapes in the
archive.
It s also worth mentioning that I had a secondary strategy that didn t work very
well. I planned to come up with believable intangible demands that will hopefully
make Pipeline uncomfortable to the point that they are willing to remove some of
these demands in exchange for raising the service fees or the money paid to the
Russian Government in general. One example of these believable intangible
demands was: Printing the Russian Archive Institution s logo on the cover of every
CD published. Nice, right!? The bad news to this dirty trick was that this was a
complete simulation. These intangible demands didn t mean anything to our fellow
simulators, and they simply agreed to every single demand with out any hesitation. I
really wonder if this plan would really work in real life negotiations.
3. How did the concepts of process, power (structural and/or personal), interests, and

It was very obvious that the Russians had the absolute power. Pipeline tried very hard

12. The Temple Of God Essay
Temple of God: What Does it has to do with My Body?
The temple of God is a sacred place of worship filled with the awesome presence of
the Lord. God designed two types of temple. The first one is made from materials
(structures of heaven and church buildings on earth). And the second type of temple
is constructed through His breath (the body of Angels and Man).
The main purpose of creation is to worship God in praises. Psalm 66 verse 4 says: All
the earth shall worship You and sing praises to You; They shall sing praises to Your
name.
Why did God create our body as a form of temple? Well, the answer is not far fetch,
because God dwells in the Praises of His people. Thus, our body must be designed
to contain His presence. You will understand this point clearly if you are the type
that worship God with all your heart. My body is not always the same when the Lord
dwells in my praises to Him...it is a wonderful experience I love so much. Psalm 22

His temples (dwelling places of praise and worship). But the publication released by

number of Christian in the world is about 2.42 billion. Does that translate to 2.42

False Teaching about the Body
Your body is fearfully and wonderfully made by God. The psalmist meditated and
discovered the great significance of the body. I will praise You, for I am fearfully and
wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well.
(Psalm 139:14)
But, devil cooked up false teachings about our body so that we can sin against God s
temple. Few of the false teachings are:
1.God does not care about your body but cares about your spirit and soul
2.You can do anything to beautify your

Empirically...
Introduction This paper aims to analyze the validity of the CAPM model of
predicting returns for stocks by empirically testing the model with past financial
data. The CAPM model is defined as R_i=r_f+ ОІ_i (R_m r_f). R_i represents the
return on stock i, and is what the CAPM model attempts to define or predict. r_f
represents the risk free rate available at the time the model is being analyzed, a figure
that s important for understanding both minimum return figures and the return
premium offered by the market. ОІ_i represents the Beta of stock i and is a measure
of a given company s volatility relative to the market they are in. If ОІ_i is one, then
the company is at market risk, if it is lower than one then it is below market risk, and
if it is higher than one then it is above market risk. The only stock that would have a
Beta of 0 would be a risk free stock, or whatever security you are using for your risk
free rate. ОІ_i is calculated as (COVARIANCE(r_i r_f,гЂ– rгЂ—_m r_f))
/(VARIANCE(гЂ– rгЂ—_m r_f)).(R_m r_f) represents the Market Risk Premium,
or the level of return an average stock in the market would return in excess of the
risk free rate. Essentially CAPM attempts to study the amount of return generated
by a company s systematic, or market specific, risk, which is a type of risk that is
undiversifiable. This means that CAPM tests for the amount of risk that a security
has as compared to the market, which is a baseline level of risk that any firm that is
publicly traded is

In both cases, the black males were found guilty because individuals did not think

Though she quit, the knowledge she gained from university about the legal system

Injuries resulting from falls are a serious health concern, especially with the
growing elderly population. In adults aged 65 or more, injuries are the sixth
leading cause of death and falls are the leading cause of these injuries (Al Faisal,
2006, p. 5). Injuries from these falls may also reduce a person s mobility and
independence. In the United States, one in every three older adults falls each year.
In 1997, nearly 9,000 persons aged 65 years died from falls. Of those who fall, 20%

the definition of fall prevention and it falls under the occupational therapists scope of

Green River. Productions Materials The trona is mined from underground. People
and equipment get in the mine from a hoist that takes them down 1,600 feet to the
mine. They are taken to the front of the mine where they remove the trona and send
it to the surface. They use railroad cars, trucks, and boats to send it to buyers all over
the world.
Processing:
On the surface, the plant converts trona ore to soda ash. They use a multi step
cleaning process. The trona ore is first crushed and screened to prepare for
processing. A kiln heats the crushed trona to drive off gases. This process changes
ore to sodium carbonate. It is combined with water and filtered to remove pollution.
The water is taken out, which forms a soda ash crystal slurry. Than it is put into a
machine to remove the rest of the water. Then they are sent to round dryers. The
dried product is stored in bins, until shipped by trucks or rail cars.

peaceful African Americans being attacked and beaten after attempting to cross the

time to create some legislation to prevent incidences such as this from happening in
the future. The Civil Rights Act of 1964and the Voting Rights Act of 1965 have been

One turning point in the campaign was when African American students gathered
in Kelly Ingram Park to walk across the park. Hoses and dogs were let loose on the
crowd, and the media captured it. After the pictures and news stories were

that prompted Kennedy to move forward with the civil rights act was George
Wallace s refusal to integrate the University of Alabama. Then Governor of
Alabama, he stood outside the University, refusing to let two African American
students inside until the National Guard was sent in. Feeling as though something

Analytic ad essay

Cigarette ads over the years From 1947 2000 cigarette ads have changed in more
than just one way. Each ad pinpoints a certain stereotype of a person as well as
containing a slogan that assures the viewer of which stereotype the ad is pertaining
to. Each ad does a great job of matching the slogan with the image, while drawing in
consumers and maintaining the fulfillment of the consumer s prefrence. The ad used
in 1947 for Camel cigarettes claims More Doctors smoke Camels Than Any Other
Cigarette . The ad also contains a picture of a man posing as a doctor. The picture as
well as the slogan being claimed, provides a sense of comfort and safety. People may

The camel ad of 2000 is most likely going to attract those who wish to attain the
perfect cigarette, therefore this ad pertains to the need for aesthetic sensation ,
due to the fact that this ad is a simple ad with few words , there is little room for
correction nearly being a perfect ad(Fowles 552). This ad will not only attract
people s attention because of the word pleasure being placed in the slogan, but also
the picture is an attention grabbing picture. The ad contains a picture a young, fit,
attractive male, which also means this ad pertains to the need for attention
(Fowles 550)Not only does this attract people s attention it is also desirable. Over
the past years the cigarette ads have slightly changed. The pictures, slogans, and
the layout have all changed over time, but only to a slight extent. Although the
physical appearance of the ads may have changed slightly over time, the idea of
advertising cigarettes have not. Just as Fowels said, most advertisments appearing
in national media can be understood as having two orders of content (Fowles 541).
All the ads serve the same purpose, while each ad does appeal to different types of
people, each ad also does the same thing to attract a certain type of person or idea.
This is done by placing certain words as well as images to draw in consumers. As
consumer s wants as well as needs change, ads continue to change accordingly.

Literary Analysis of The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County
The story is about a man who would bet on anything even if the odds were against
him, and then this man decides to bet on a frog that the frog can t jump higher than
any other average frog for $40 and planning different things to put these odds of
winning the bet in his favor. In Mark Twains folk tale The celebrated Jumping Frog
of Calaveras County Twain uses various forms of figurative language in his
description of the frog in order to build the character of the frog who is not an
ordinary frog for the readers entertainment. In the story the frog is seemed to be
anything but a normal frog due to the choices of figurative language that Twain has

22. To Build A Fire-Realist
In the short story To Build a Fire by Jack London, The Man is overly confident in
his own abilities. He sets off on a hike to meet a camp of men in Alaska when he
falls through some ice to water beneath. He then starts to freeze to death when his
fire is put out by snow falling from a tree and eventually dies. The story is definite
realist period writing as it could have happened to anyone, also The Man is also
just a common joe type of man who is too confident which is a realist characteristic
as well. Although The Man doubts he can make a fire while freezing, he is an
ambitious logger who is to confident in his knowledge. When The Man starts out
on his trek he acknowledges the extremely cold weather but instead of worrying or
not wanting to do the hike he just dismisses it as a fact. At this point in his hike he
has not ran into any problems and is confident he will make it. The Man just does
not care Fifty degrees below zero was to him just precisely fifty degrees below zero
(2). The fact he is being so arrogant clearly shows how confident he is in his
knowledge of surviving. The Mans confidence in his knowledge blinds him from the
actual danger of the severe cold.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Man thinks of how he wanted to make it to the camp by six PM. Frustrated he

into account that he could die from falling into that small pool of freezing water.
Simply the fact that he is only frustrated because he will not arrive on time when the
reality of the situation is he could die is enough to demonstrate his overly confident

this extension.
Project Activities Performance:
After analyzing these factors it s fair to judge what went well and what didn t. On the
positive side, the project started on time with regards to the Need Survey . In addition
the item Nutrition Report was under budget by $1,900, which represents a savings for
the project that could either be allocated elsewhere or simply counted as additional
funds.
When considering factors that didn t go well as far as schedule the project took a
steep hit. While the initial item started on time, it ended two days later than was
initially planned. This meant that Set product Specs was 2 days late starting. With
this project each line item has a predecessor. This means that they cannot start until
the previous item is finished. With this every portion of the project was late starting
and threw the entire project off. With regards to the cost Need Survey was over
budgeted by $6,400 and Set product spec was over budgeted by $11,520.
Within the Big Kola Project there were a number of calculations that needed to be
made to fully analyze the earned value and other key deciding factor for the success
of the project as well as completion of the status report.

An Analysis of Trading in Derivatives
12 years ago, Warren Buffett warned that derivatives were financial weapons of mass
destruction (Lenzner). 6 years after he made this statement, derivative traders helped
induce the biggest financial crisis in America since the Great Depression. Derivatives
are highly complex financial instruments that have fundamentally changed the way
we perceive finance. Trading these derivatives has caused a financial revolution that
has generated both a huge amount of potential, and an an equally huge amount of
risk. Derivatives, in a nutshell, are highly complex financial instruments whose

Because companies have the ability to swap an extensive variety of things, swaps
are often overarchingly defined as an exchange in future cash flows (IP). One
common type of swap is an interest rate swap. In this case, a company agrees to
swap some or even all of their interest rate payments with another company. Interest
rate swaps can occur because companies with different backgrounds and reputations
will usually generate different credit ratings. These credit ratings often correspond
to differing interest rates charged by lenders. For example, an established and
reliable company may experience a high credit rating and receive a fixed interest
rate, while a newer and more opaque company may experience lower credit ratings
and receive a variable interest rate. These companies can opt to swap interest rate
payments if each believes that the opposing party s interest rate setup will eventually
turn out to be more advantageous in the long run. In effect, these companies are
utilizing a comparative advantage in order to achieve their financial goals.
Another example of a swap is a credit default swap (CDS). By selling CDS
contracts, banks offer an extremely attractive option to people who are lending
money to major companies. A credit default swap contract basically ensures a lender
that a bank will financially cover all of his/her losses if his/her lent credit were to
somehow default. The bank will do this in exchange for regular payments

Derivative Financial Instruments Employed for Risk Management
Credit Risk
Derivatives may be traded either via an exchange (exchange traded) or alternatively,
privately negotiated contracts, which are generally alluded to as Over The Counter
(OTC) derivatives. Exchange traded and OTC cleared derivative contracts have
downgraded Macquarie s credit risk as their counterparty is a clearing house,
accountable for the handling of risk management for their members to guarantee that
the clearing house has sufficient resources to carry out its upcoming obligations.
Members are instructed to produce initial margins in agreement with the exchange
rules in the form of cash or securities, and further present daily variation margins in
cash to cover adjustments in values of the market. Macquarie has exchange traded
derivatives with positive replacement values as at 31 March 2016 of $1,794 million,
whereas as at 31 March 2016 of $4,641 million.
For OTC derivative contracts, Macquarie commonly has master netting agreements
(usually ISDA Master Agreements) with specific counterparties to handle and control
the credit risk associated. The credit risk connected with positive replacement value
contracts is condensed by master netting arrangements that in an occurrence of
default necessitates that balances with a certain counterparty covered by the
agreement (for example derivatives and cash margins) to be discontinued and settled
on a net basis. Macquarie frequently executes a Credit
27. First Crusaders Research Paper
The first crusaders are led by Godfrey and Bouillon and other french lords. They
marched from Constantinpole through lands that were held by the Seljuk Turks to
Antioch. During their journey, they fought against isolated turkic forces, and Godfrey
s brother Baldwin stopped to set up the first crusader state at Edessa.
Soon after, they captured Antioch. They finally arrived in Jerusalem in August 1098.
By the time they got there, Jerusalem had been under the rule of muslim Arabs also
known as the Fatimids, they ruled from egypt. The Crusaders had seige for a month
before its keepers surrendered.
After Godfrey died, Baldwin left Edessa and became the first king of the chirstian
kingdom of Jerusalem. A few years later, European lords worked to secure their rule
over the Crusader states. Back in Europe, the Holy Orders of knighta began to rise.

When Saladin s forces took Jerusalem, the call went out across Europe to launch

relationship with Saladin. In 1192, Richard and Saladin reached a truce. According to
the treaty, Saladin s Muslim Empire kept control of Jerusalem but granted Christians

Making Sure That Your Business is Properly Insured
Owning your own business can be a very rewarding experience, providing a way to
engage your passion, while also offering a way to make a comfortable living.
However, owning a business leaves you in a position in which you will have a lot
that you will be responsible for protecting. Purchasing business insurance in Texas is
one of the most viable ways to protect your business from a number of risks;
however, there are numerous types of business insurance policies that can be
purchased, and it is immensely important for business owners to have a lucid
understanding of what each policy has to offer.
Although there are a wide variety of types of business insurance in Texas, the
problem is that it can be difficult to understand which types of coverages are best
suited for a specific type of business. Following, is a synopsis of different common
coverages and how they protect a business. Depending on the type of business you
own and specific needs of that business, the type business insurance in Texas that you
purchase will vary.
Property Coverage
One of the most obvious reasons that a business owner would seek small business
insurance in Texas would be to protect any tangible assets that they have amassed for
and through the business, including tools, merchandise and inventory. For example, a
fire could literally destroy a brick and mortar business s ability to function in any
capacity, destroying merchandise and rendering

The Merriam Webster online dictionary defines watershed as a time when an
important change happens. A watershed event can be described as an event marking
an important change of course, often times one on which important changes and
developments depend. It is often referred to as a turning point. The watershed event
that I have researched is the end of apartheid. Apartheid is an Afrikaans word,
meaning the state of being apart. Apartheid was a system of racial segregation in
South Africa. This system was enforced by the NP (National Party,) the party that
governed the nation from 1948 1994. When this system was in effect, the residents
of South Africa were divided by their race, and forced to live apart from each other.

However, while the segregation laws were no longer in effect, racism was still
quite prominent in the nation. While the laws changed, many people s ways of
thinking unfortunately did not. Even though people of different races were no
longer living apart from each other and using separate public facilities, that did not
change people s views. But although progress was slow, it was still happening.
South Africa has come along way since the days of apartheid, and although there is
still a long way to go, it is clear that significant change has occurred due to this

Ironically the 1965 act was in response to issues with low academic performance of
impoverished students (as will be discussed later, standardized testing has a negative
impact on low income students). The groundwork for Common Core as we know it
was laid out much later. During the Bush administration the No Child Left behind
created a standardized test purgatory. Schools facilitated cheating and a chronic issue
with schools lowering the passing rates created unsustainable issues. The economic
recession and the Obama Administration also attempted to reform the system with
what is known as the Race to the Top . Under this system there was a funding
incentive for high performing schools. This system also relied heavily on
standardized testing. An interesting repercussion of the Race to the Top is that it
created a massive data drive to collect student information. Out of these two failed
programs and an economic recession came the drive for Common Core. common
core was developed in 2009 and implemented in 2010, it was then accepted by 45
states. The education industry is (books, software, curriculum) are aligning their
products to match common core. The National Governors Association is the actual
legal owner of the Common Core Standards. The Florida standards which are based
on Common Core were rolled out a little differently. During the 2013 2014 school

The Challenges of My University Life I was very excited to study academic skills
at Arizona State University, being an international student. There must be some
problems to face and through many different cases that I gradually found the way.
When I have been America, I just think United States was similar to my country.
However, it was not easy to learn academic knowledge at the university in USA.
Therefore, I would provide three of my problems I have faced, and how I dealt with
them. The first time in my university life was in dormitory, as we know, it was
extremely hard to talk with native students fluently. Thus, I just used to play
computer games to hide our embarrassments. In somedays, my room mates saw I
was playing computer games. Very coincidentally, they also like playing games very
much. We started to talk with each other and we became friendlier. I also talk with
his friends in skype, and it made my speaking improve fast. Then I knew my
roommate like to dance, and I learned more information from him. For him, I
searched on the internet about dancing videos. The breaking dance made me crazy, I
found my love I thought. Hence, if international students wanted to find a good

In my opinion, we can let local people introduce a good places to travel. I can also

33. The Alley Cat Short Story
The Alley Cat by Ian Malapira
There was an alley in England. Though is was removed in 1983, it was there in 1847.
This is an account of what happened in that alley in 1847. There was a cat. Yes, a cat.
Doesn t seem like much of a big deal, does it? Well, it was, for that cat was a good cat
, and one day, that cat would help millions of other cats in need.
The cat, whose name was Vigo, had started out as any common ginger tabby cat, but
what people didn t know is that cat had a knack for mischief. It enjoyed stealing
from people for fun, and it mostly stole food due to the fact that most of the cats in
England had been deprived of food by the people. The cat always hated people.
Why don t they just go somewhere else to get food? thought Vigo. I mean, why do
they have to take our food? Are they too lazy to travel to a different place to get
food? And why can t they share food with us? Vigo always pondered this question. It
wasn t until three years later that he found the answer.
On December 17, 1850, Vigo and his father, David, were taking a walk through the
streets of England when a man nearly ran them over with his bike. Hey! shouted
Vigo. But the man didn t hear them. He zoomed away, pedaling so hard that a
small, beige box fell from his bike. Be careful, said David, but his son wasn t
listening. He was clawing at the box with his furry paws. What was that, dad? asked
Vigo. A mailman.
A what? A mailman, What s a mailman? They deliver packages and letters to people.
Vigo took this all in. So the man who almost flattened them was a mailman, and he
was trying to get this package to someone. We should take this home, said Vigo. We
might need whatever is inside this thing. And with his father trailing behind him, the
cat pushed the package back to the alley.
Later that afternoon, Vigo opened the package and was disappointed to see that
most of its contents could not be of use. There was a piece of cardboard, a
bandage, and a canteen which was to big to be used to carry water. But there were
two things that could be helpful. The first was a small knife, which Vigo could use
as a weapon and some small scraps of food which could be shared among the other

Through movement of spiraling colors, a sense of rhythm and a focal point was
created in the upper right corner. Though the artist did not list her medium for this
piece, it was pretty clear she used acrylic paint. The use of the complimentary colors
purple and yellow creates a contrast that catches the eye. Also, the contrast of colors
creates implied lines and circles. The River Runs Through is well balanced. The left
contains patterned or textured colors that metamorphoses into a focal point of smooth
colors creating the perfect balance. This painting is smaller scaled. Though it does
contain formal qualities, I would say that this piece is more informal than formal.
It holds an impression of both modern art and abstract art adjoined. With the title as
Garner s strongest hint, this photo is meant to symbolize a river that keeps running.
The wound colors make this river appear as it keeps going on and on. Overall, I
believe this was a very successful piece of
35. Mark Lilla s Argument In The End Of Identity Liberalism
Mark Lilla s argument in The End of Identity Liberalism definitely recognizes the
underlying problem in the success story (Lilla 1) of the American diversity: a lack
of unifying force (Lilla 1). However, it seems to be too arbitrary to deduce from the
defects of identity liberalism that the possible solution is only an either or choice: the
necessity of a unifying force should predicate the end of identity liberalism. The end
of identity liberalism will come at some time, but today must not be the time. The end
of identity liberalism should be based upon universally equal acceptance and
representation of different individuals, a point that is ignored by Lilla in his argument.
Before an reply to Lilla s argument, it is important to first explain the notion of
identity liberalism. Lilla believes that identity liberalism conveys a kind of moral
panic about racial, gender ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, the minority individuals now do not even have the ability to realize those
harmful effects; in another word, identity liberalism has not been pushed to the phase
in which the aforementioned threats from difference and the related conflicts are
worth too many concerns. Lilla s argument is predicated by minority groups with
enough power and representation, the justification of which is missing in the article.
In the current phase, the under representation of minority groups is the much more
serious problem. This under representation, in the perspective of gender inequality,
is illustrated by Audre Lorde: what does it mean in personal and political terms
when even the two Black women who did present here were literally found at the
last hour? (Lorde 22). If the minority groups get no representation, how can the white
Americans feel challenge and threat; if differences do not show up, how can the
exclusiveness of individual groups be broken and passed across? Therefore, the unity
matters only if the differences

she had vanished. The short glimpse was what led Angus s determination to find the
girl. Once gone, Aengus never gave up hope looking for her. Even though Aengus
was [...]old with wandering (Yeats 17) he had dedicated his life searching for his one

has gone (Yeats 19) no matter how long it would take. Though Aengus never found
his love in the poem of The Song of Wandering Aengus, that never stopped his
determination to succeed at finding his one true love.
Walt Masters, a caring boy, risked his life to not only save a man, but also a man s
claim. A risky adventure began when Walt found out his friend, Loren Hall, had
broken through the ice at Rosebud Creek, and frozen his feet so badly that he
would not be able to travel for a couple of weeks (London 7). This meant that Loren

37. Analysis Of Two In The Campagna
A Psychoanalytic View of Two in the Campagna
Freud suggests that the unconscious is a storehouse for our hidden desires,
ambitions, fears, passion, and irrational thoughts. Since the unconscious is also a
part of the psyche, the unconscious with hidden desires continues to affect us in the
form of inferiority feelings, guilt, nightmares and dreams. The unconscious releases
its suppressed wishes and desires through dreams. Freud believes that for authors,
they create literary works to express their unconscious minds and to gratify their
secret desires. Therefore, he declares that the literary work is the author s dream or
fantasy. That is to say that the literary text can be analyzed like a dream to uncover
the hidden desires. Meanwhile, according to psychoanalytic critics, many images in
literary work have their own symbolic significance. Therefore, when analyzing
literary works, it is necessary to shift the focus of surface meanings to the symbolic
meanings to find out the true meaning of the literary work.
Hence, upon analyzing the poem Two in the Campagna , the poem can also be
analyzed as a dream to uncover speaker s unconscious mind and hidden desire. On the

Question: What economic trap did peasants suffer from according to lines 3 4? 3:
Changed with their children, and chief lord s rent 4: What by spinning they save,
they spend it in house hire Answer: The economic trap that is stated in this poem,
translated by Terence Tiller, to the peasants is a couple of things. First, in the 3rd
line, it states, Charged with their children, and chief lords rent, which is implying
that they must pay for their children and also pay or rent the land that they live on
which is granted to them by the lords. In line 4 it states, What by spinning they
save, they spend it in house hire. This is stating that the peasants would have to also
pay for their houses damages while being stressed by all the other cluttered things
they must pay for. They overall economic trap for the peasants is them paying others
and for themselves to live a somewhat healthy life, such as lords and vassals and for
their children. Document 2 Quotation from Juan Ruiz What does the writer mean by
a man not being able to , call himself his own master? Question: Answer: The writer
means that compared to a man with excessive wealth being honorable and respected,
the man that is penniless cannot call himself his own master. This implies that while
the man with wealth is the ruler, the penniless man is the one being ruled. The man
with no money cannot call himself his own

I m going to be telling about how people found out about John Deere Tractors.
Everyone that has a yard to mow or ever drove past a farm knows what a John
Deere tractor looks like. You don t have to be a farmer to recognize the green
tractor with the yellow lettering as a John Deere. These tractors are so well built
and designed that television commercials say Nothing runs like a Deere . However,
few of us may know the life story behind the man John Deere who invented the
design of the simple farm plow and in doing so started a company that would create
farm products used and recognized throughout the globe.
I m going to be telling how John Deere Lived.
John Deere was born on February 4, 1804 in Vermont. His parents William and
Sarah Deere. They were tailors that had immigrated to Vermont from England. Life
was hard for the Deere family when their blacksmith business slowed in 1808. John
s dad took a trip back to his home country in hopes of finding a better life for his
family. Unfortunately, Mr. Deere did not return from England and no one ever found
out what happened to him. John was only four years old . As a young boy, John

tools such as the steam plow, cultivators, planters, and a grain drill. (Just like his re
designed steel plow these additional tools became important to farmers.) On each of
the tools, the name John Deere stood out boldly. Through hard work and imagination,
the company being the name John Deere became a leading manufacturer of

FACING HONG KONG
Introduction
Unquestionably, Hong Kong is a blessed land where possesses prosperity and most
of the elements of being a world class cosmopolitan which has successfully attracted
visitors over years, especially from the mainland by emphasising our world class
shopping, dining and other urban attractions (Lam, H., 2004). Despite the flourishing
scene of the tourism industry, the volatile tourist markets and growing competition
from Southeast Asian countries and neighbouring destinations have posed new
challenges to Hong Kong s tourism industry.

Despite these efforts, several problems are found regarding Hong Kong s culture
and heritage sustainability policy. It is found that Hong Kong has been relatively
slow in developing its potential heritage sites into tourist attractions, as seen in the
controversy over the fate of Tiger Balm Garden and the Central Police Station.
According to Chu and Uebegang (2002), the sluggish and passive response of
government reflects the lack of political will due to a lack of understanding of the
principles of heritage and its potential. The Government believes heritage
conservation should be driven by tourism and economics and not treated in the same
way as other social and education services. Even with the setting up of Heritage
Tourism Task Force which is established in 1998, there have been very few
recommendations proposed by the task force. Some critics have blamed on its lack
of leadership and lack of influence in the government bureaucracy (Chu and
Uebegang, 2002). Other problems implied in the policy of government are lack of a
broad based, long term conservation policy, lack of a clear priorities and inadequate
co ordination of government departments involved in present heritage conservation
practice. Besides, in most cultural heritage development, public involvement in
decision making is absent.
Regarding these problem, it is essential for

I currently work at an SMI clinic for TERROS and I selected an intake form off of
the internet instead of the intake for my work because our intake is a template that
generates into a document once signed by all appropriate parties. I must say this
random mental health intake form I found is extremely similar. I think these forms
are now somewhat standardized and having just recently started filling out
assessments of this nature and doing service plans with behavioral health
recipients. I must confess it is difficult to get all of these answers out of clients and
to keep their attention long enough to complete this paperwork. I feel often times
we must resort to generic answers that do not give us a full understanding f who
these people are and what their needs are, but it is a good resource to have a basic
understanding of a client and when sharing information with other people on the
clinical team good note taking skills and complete forms makes communication and
client service much more efficient. Does the intake form ask all of the necessary
questions to determine what the client s presenting problem is? I think this form
does an adequate asking what the presenting problem is by up front asking what the
problems are that the individual is seeking help for and giving the client space to
say in their own words what their problem is. I also like that after the open ended
questionof the presenting problem there is a checklist of symptoms for the client to

44. Social Roles In Leo Tolstoy s Anna Karenina
Leo Tolstoy s Anna Karenina is a novel that centers around the affairs and deeds of a
group Russian nobles during the reformations of late 1800s. While the main affair of
the story between the titular Anna Karenina and her lover Alexei Vronsky takes the
centers stage, Tolstoy was not hesitant to show how the changes within the real
Russian society affected the nobles inside the novelof his novel. Characters such
Vronsky, Alexei Karenin, Konstantin LГ«vin, and Stepan Oblonsky, or Stiva , each
live their own lives within the upper echelons of social classand live with a mix of a
rigid regimen within their social caste or a carefree lifestyle and react differently as
the events of the story and real life events of Tolstoy s time conflict with the
characters. Tolstoy s characters have a strong habit of either representing a different
set of views and opinions that affect each other though the novels in various different
ways depending on their social positions. Even their own interpersonal relationships
are affected both intnetinally and un intentionally by their own stances and opinions
on real life reforms that Tolstoy uses as both a motivator and a backdrop within his
novel. To start off with, Alexei Karenin represents an aristocratic government who s a
staunch believer within maintaining the status quo of his own social standing.
Karenin seems more focused on his career as a civil servant than his family,
spending very little time with his wife and child, even after his

Prior to 1975, students with disabilities had limited educational options, as most
children either attended a private school at the expense of their parents or did not
attend a school at all, resulting in the child remaining in the home setting (Lloyd
Llody, 2015). The desire for equal treatment and acceptance are components sought by
students with MSD, their families, and advocates within the field of special education
. Although severe cognitive deficits can impact typical awareness, some individuals
with a severe disability recognize the notion they may be viewed differently from
the general public. FAPE ensures access to learning spaces for children with MSD,
thus a free public education is provided at no cost to the family. In addition, a
continuum of service options is considered by an Individualized Education Plan (IEP)
team when determining a public schooldistricts offer of FAPE, which is to be

This paper will show the facts in regards to Jesus s death, burial and resurrection, as
the bible states. This paper will also show how reading these passages have
impacted my life and how I grasp and understand the scriptures. Being a college
student at a Baptist school, many people believe that I should know what the
scriptures say, because I am at a baptist school. Though I am not fluent in the
scriptures, reading the passages from the views of different disciples helped me get
an understanding about the Word that I didn t know before.

One of the life lessons that I learned when reading this scripture is that I will always
find amazing in about the death, burial and resurrection of Christ and how God
allowed Jesus to endure it. God has a love for us, who are flawed, so much that he
gave his only son to die a very excruciating death on our behalf. While reading these
verses it made me think about all the times when I have not lived my life 100
percent for Christ. While reading these verses it seems almost like an insult to God
and his son, for not taking the gift that he has given us and using it for his glory.
Another life lesson that I learned is how little faith I have had in God. Many times
people profess themselves as Christian, because thats a norm, if you grew up in
church you re a Christian, but

50. The Energy Crisis In America
The energy crisis in America is often placed on the back burner to the average
American citizen. Generally, one will only care about this crisis when the price of
gas changes. The energy crisis, however, is a prominent issue as it is ongoing and
getting worse, despite many efforts (Rinkesh). The world s natural resources, such
as oil, coal, and natural gas, cannot supply the world s increasing demand. The
amount of crude oil available is only 2 percent higher than the demand for it
(Muise). If the demand expands any higher, then the limited supply of natural
resources will be gone for good ( Learn about Energy ). It is projected that there is
enough oil to last 34 more years, enough natural gas to last 53 more years, and
enough coal... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since no one has been able to propose a solution that is realistic, I put the solution
upon myself. I have created a bulletproof plan that will not only solve the energy
crisis, but it will help to decrease in obesity, the environment, and create jobs killing
four birds with one stone. Humans all around the world will defeat this problem
by creating and providing their own energy for themselves. They will do this by
riding a bike, that will be connected to a power bank, in one s own house. Every
day, before and after work, people will ride a bike. The power bank will be linked
to household appliances such as the refrigerators TVs, and heating systems. The
longer the person rides it, then the more electricity they get for their house. The
average hour riding a bike will provide 6 hours of electricity. Of course, this is also
dependent on how many electricity run products are in one s home If the person
has more electrical items, then they will need to ride for longer amounts of time
because the energy will be traveling to copious places. Using this method of energy
will decrease the use of harmful fossil fuels and decrease the amount of unpredictable
renewable resources by creating man made energy that can supply the needs of
51. Resilience And Positive Adaptation
With the rise of positive psychology, resilience and positive adaptation have
become a field of research in themselves. Resilience has various definitions but is
broadly accepted to mean a dynamic, evolving process of positive attitudes and
effective strategies that we employ in response to life stressors (Jensen, Trollope
Kumar, Waters, Everson, 2008). Masten, Best and Garmezy (1990) defines resilience
as the process of, capacity for, or outcome of successful adaptation despite
challenging or threatening circumstances (p. 425). The American Psychological
Association defines resilience as the process of adapting well in the face of
adversity, trauma, tragedy, threats, or significant sources of stress such as family and
relationship problems, serious health problems or workplace, and financial stressors

Themes covered in The Orient express do not only involve just the conviction of
evil natured people, but to also cover the idea that even though people believed in a
God, how can evil sins still exist. Agatha Christie believed Society didn t want the
criminal to be punished in the afterlife, but wanted immediate gratification. They
didn t want it to be holy, they wanted it to be familiar with their everyday lives.
Society is battling against evil. Most of the crime can be traced back to the moral
failures of individuals, to their desire for wealth, to their betrayal of the morals. No
one is safe from the law. You will always get caught and you will face your
punishment. After several important observations, Hercule has deduced that the killer
is the entire train cabin. It turns out our victim Mr. Ratchett was a kidnapper who
kidnapped and murdered his victims. The killers were relatives of the true victims.
Mr. Ratchett was actually Cassetti, a kidnapper and murderer of the young Daisy
Armstrong for money. The Armstrong family murdered Ratchett because he escaped
punishment in the U.S due to bureaucracy. So average citizens had no other choice
except to take it upon themselves and be punish the evils of the world. Just because
someone can escape the law, they cannot escape justice. This is what Agatha Christie
is trying to emphasize, you can escape the law, but you cannot escape justice, through
good going citizens. A
53. Analysis Of The Book I Am
At the beginning of the novel, I am immediately implanted a general impression of
McTeague, a clumsily single minded giant, who operates his own dental practice
and goes about his daily routine with satisfaction: he would sit at the bay window
(1) reading the paper (1) and [gorging] with steam beer (1) and even play regularly
on his concertina. Moving his immense limbs (2) slowly and ponderously,
McTeague looks like a draught horse, immensely strong, stupid, docile, obedient
(3). Worse than that, his mind was as his body, heavy, slow to act, sluggish (2). But
thanks to his barbaric mind, he is not saddened by his terrible appearance; instead
he feels that his life is quite a success with the dental practice guaranteeing him a
stable income, that he could hope for nothing better (3). He is never fed up with
his repetitive days, and the only enjoyment in his tedious life probably is to
appreciate the panorama of the urban street from his bay window, where the world
goes past (6). No matter the various shops or people from all walks of life, from
seven o clock in the morning to eleven in the evening, never fail to interest him.
Besides that, the other way that could connect McTeague with the outside world is
Marcus. Unlike his friend, McTeague is introversive and indifferent to the society and
neighborhood, knowing nothing except for his routine. Therefore, he is frequently
bewildered by Marcus while listening to his political tirade with admiration; but he
54. The Pilgrim s Progress Essay
The Pilgrim s Progress
The author of The Pilgrim s Progress is well described by Coleridge s remark: His
piety was baffled by his genius; and Bunyan the dreamer overcame the Bunyan of the
conventicle. This remark points out the difficulty that Bunyan faces when he
attempts to write a religious piece of work in the style of allegory. The Pilgrim s
Progress is pious because it is a piece written in dedication to God. It contains
important religious teachings what a good Christian should do and what he should
not do. What Coleridge means by Bunyan s genius is basically the story itself. The
story is so well written that people become so interested in the story and forget the
whole spiritual truth behind and this worry Bunyan. ... Show more content on

People at his time indulged in plays and drama for purely earthly pleasure. This is
opposed by the Puritans since it is regarded as a kind of corruption and that one
could be extracted from the direction to God. But Bunyan justified that if these
things are done for God, they could be accepted. The phrase I have used similitudes
that appeared at the original cover page of the book explains the use of similes,
metaphors and other figures of language. God Himself also speaks in figurative
language, not in plain language. Bunyan is going to use similitude to tell the
Christians what they should do. It is therefore not for pure enjoyment to read this
book. The aim of this book is to teach a religious lesson and ask people to learn
from it. Bunyan went on to justify what he did by saying that God had allowed
him to do so. He clarified that he was not writing to please anyone and that it
should never be used as a way to show off one s ability. He also reminded people
that they had to interpret the Bible for themselves for God is not always clear in
what he says. The story opens as a dream and this is significant because it is the
way that God speaks to his prophets. Bunyan somehow felt himself like a modern
version of prophet and he is determined to write about his vision. The word I has
been used at the opening of the story and all throughout, and this is significant since
this I (the dreamer) can be anyone of us. There is a strong sense of

HeLa cells have had a positive influence on medicine in many ways including with
giving us knowledge about the human papillomavirus (HPV) DNA and HPV18
positive. HeLa cells have been linked to changes in microRNA expression. Since
HPV18 has been associated with very aggressive adenocarcinomas, this finding may
explain why Dr. Gey was surprised by the prolific growth of HeLa cells in culture.
Routine Papanicolaou smear screening may not detect rapidly progressive cervical

(Hutchins). The problem of possible contamination of other long term cultured tumor

raised the concern of misattributing a specific property so another cell line, for

continued and growing use of tissue culture in biochemist research, intra and
interspecific contamination becomes a significant risk. The determination of stable
genetic markers on cultured cells is a powerful tool for monitoring such
contamination. Recent experiments in which cultured cells and innumerable clones
of somatic cell hybrids have been used for genetic analysis have shown that, with the
proper use of polymorphic markers to characterize the cells, the possibility of
undetected cross contamination of cultures is no longer the problem it once may have

am chosen. I am blessed. And I am happy. Then Lev is on the way to the harvest
camp, where they go to be unwound and his car crashes then Connor and Risa take
him and group him with them. (Schusterman, 36) Lev has been preparing for his

entire process to be ruined and that went against his expectations of what he
thought being unwound would be like and what his future was going to look like.
He expected this great process, but was disappointed that it didn t go as planned.
