2. Global environmental
problems
• Continuous technological progress, the
ongoing enslavement of nature by man,
industrialization, which has changed the
surface of the Earth beyond recognition,
have become the causes of the global
environmental crisis. Currently,
environmental problems such as
atmospheric pollution, destruction of the
ozone layer, acid rain, greenhouse effect, soil
pollution, pollution of the waters of the
oceans and overpopulation are particularly
acute for the population of the planet. The
full list of global environmental problems is
huge.
3. Reduction of the number
and area of natural
habitat
• The main threat to biological diversity is
the disturbance of habitats, and therefore
the most important thing for the
conservation of biological diversity is their
protection. The loss of habitats is associated
with both their direct destruction, so it is
with damage in the form of pollution and
poisoning by industrial waste. For the
majority of plants and animals on the verge
of extinction, it is the loss of habitat that is
the primary threat. Other important factors
include the negative impact of genetically
modified species and overexploitation of
agricultural areas.
4. Ways to solve global environmental
problems
• The need for an urgent practical solution to the problem of environmental
protection has led to the development in most countries of state measures of a
legislative, organizational and administrative nature aimed at preserving and
restoring the quality of the natural environment. Moreover, it is this aspect that
is increasingly becoming the main focus of government activity in countries with
developed economies, accompanied by the active use of economic levers and
incentives, collectively ensuring the achievement of the goal.
