This document discusses the integrated monitoring of SDG 6 on water and sanitation. It provides an overview of the global indicators for SDG 6 and the principles of SDG monitoring, which include country ownership, the importance of integrated data, harmonization across initiatives, and progressive monitoring to leave no one behind. It also describes pilot testing of methodologies for targets 6.3-6.6 in 2016 and means of implementation for targets 6.a and 6.b on international cooperation and stakeholder participation.

• UN-Water has published a report in 2015
on the MoI for Goal 6, setting out
requirements to meet the goal under the
seven MoI building blocks
• Strengthening collaborations: WHO,
OECD, and UNEP are co-custodians
• WHO has developed a methodological
note proposing a monitoring framework for
these indicators
 6.a.1: OECD-CRS is one of the main data
sources for ODA
 6.b.1: WGI indicator on local participation
will be developed and tested by 2017
