This document discusses various gingival surgical procedures including gingival curettage, gingivectomy, and gingivoplasty. Gingival curettage involves scraping the gingival wall of a periodontal pocket to remove diseased soft tissue. Gingivectomy is the excision of gingiva to remove supra bony pockets and restore the physiologic gingival contour. Gingivoplasty is similar but aims to reshape gingiva without removing pockets. Healing after these procedures involves blood clot formation, re-epithelialization, and new collagen deposition over 1-3 weeks. Electrosurgery can also be used for gingivectomy and offers hemostasis
