In the first two webinars of our Product Ops webinar series (Episode #1 and Episode #2), we explored the various challenges of being product-led at scale. We received lots of questions—most centered around the details of getting started with Product Ops.
In our final webinar of the series, we have invited Melissa Perri, CEO at Produx Labs and author of The Build Trap, along with John Cutler, Product Team Coach at Amplitude, and Jim Semick, Co-Founder and Chief Strategist at ProductPlan, to address those questions and wrap up our series. Together, Melissa, John, and Jim have helped hundreds of companies grapple with “operationalizing” healthy product organizations.
In our roundtable, we will cover:
- When (and if) to formalize Product Ops
- How to make a case for Product Ops
- How to hire your first Product Ops team member
- Product Ops processes and best practices

Having a strategy as a guide for your teams and products is essential; we all know that. Moreover, product managers agonize over how to make these statements brief and powerful. What Are the Road Mapping Essentials by former Capital One PMProduct School
Product road mapping is an art, one that requires a strong pulse on the state of the business, your customers and stakeholders. Road maps are meant to provide a clear path towards reaching the business objectives giving transparency and predictability to anyone involved on the team. But how often have you heard “Hey, we are agile, we don’t need a roadmap”; or the opposite “Hey, this feature was on the roadmap, but why haven’t you delivered?”.
In this session, Angela Govila, former Product Manager at Capital One, talked about how to handle both of these situations and everything in between, by diving deep into the basics of how to conduct road mapping sessions.

He talked about starting from zero and convincing executives and other product teams that creating a disruptive new brand was (and is) a good idea. The audience learned a little bit about how Zillow Group’s product organizations work and more specifically how a team can still function as a small startup within a 2500+ person organization.

How We Used Fast Customer Feedback to Build Product Insights - Michelle Huff...Traction Conf
Is it desirable? Is it viable? Is it feasible? These are the criteria every team should consider when building a product.
This was the mantra of UserTesting as we recently developed a product using fast customer feedback to build a product... for fast customer feedback.
When UserTesting builds products, they're constantly refining their understanding of three key questions: who is my customer? what is their problem? what is the best, lightest solution I can build for them? This drives rapid validation & iteration cycles as we build.
In this session, UserTesting CMO Michelle Huff will discuss their product development framework and discuss how they used customer feedback to (in)validate early ideas and build a shared understanding of the customer to avoid the second-guessing, and avoid debating and Monday-morning-quarterbacking that PMs often encounter when building products.
She will also share examples of how they shared their understanding of the three key questions throughout the product development lifecycle to bring stakeholders along.

Impact: Spark your product success with an Impact-first focusProductPlan
There are hundreds of great product processes and frameworks - and as a product aficionado I love learning about the creative ways people are scaling their product orgs. The challenge isn’t in finding one, the challenge is in knowing which is worth the investment that will best serve your organization.
This led me to create a framework that thinks through all elements of the product manager role with an impact-first approach. From hiring and career, to processes, to roadmaps, to prioritization, and more. Throughout this book, I share how IMPACT is a mindset, or an overarching set of principles, that provide the foundation for evaluating processes and removing barriers. With IMPACT, it’s easier to determine where you need to invest in process change and adapt best practices to fit your needs.

Innovating Inference - Remote Triggering of Large Language Models on HPC Clus...Globus
Large Language Models (LLMs) are currently the center of attention in the tech world, particularly for their potential to advance research. In this presentation, we'll explore a straightforward and effective method for quickly initiating inference runs on supercomputers using the vLLM tool with Globus Compute, specifically on the Polaris system at ALCF. We'll begin by briefly discussing the popularity and applications of LLMs in various fields. Following this, we will introduce the vLLM tool, and explain how it integrates with Globus Compute to efficiently manage LLM operations on Polaris. Attendees will learn the practical aspects of setting up and remotely triggering LLMs from local machines, focusing on ease of use and efficiency. This talk is ideal for researchers and practitioners looking to leverage the power of LLMs in their work, offering a clear guide to harnessing supercomputing resources for quick and effective LLM inference.

Enhancing Research Orchestration Capabilities at ORNL.pdfGlobus
Cross-facility research orchestration comes with ever-changing constraints regarding the availability and suitability of various compute and data resources. In short, a flexible data and processing fabric is needed to enable the dynamic redirection of data and compute tasks throughout the lifecycle of an experiment. In this talk, we illustrate how we easily leveraged Globus services to instrument the ACE research testbed at the Oak Ridge Leadership Computing Facility with flexible data and task orchestration capabilities.
Climate Science Flows: Enabling Petabyte-Scale Climate Analysis with the Eart...Globus
The Earth System Grid Federation (ESGF) is a global network of data servers that archives and distributes the planet’s largest collection of Earth system model output for thousands of climate and environmental scientists worldwide. Many of these petabyte-scale data archives are located in proximity to large high-performance computing (HPC) or cloud computing resources, but the primary workflow for data users consists of transferring data, and applying computations on a different system. As a part of the ESGF 2.0 US project (funded by the United States Department of Energy Office of Science), we developed pre-defined data workflows, which can be run on-demand, capable of applying many data reduction and data analysis to the large ESGF data archives, transferring only the resultant analysis (ex. visualizations, smaller data files). In this talk, we will showcase a few of these workflows, highlighting how Globus Flows can be used for petabyte-scale climate analysis.

In software engineering, the right architecture is essential for robust, scalable platforms. Wix has undergone a pivotal shift from event sourcing to a CRUD-based model for its microservices. This talk will chart the course of this pivotal journey.
Event sourcing, which records state changes as immutable events, provided robust auditing and "time travel" debugging for Wix Stores' microservices. Despite its benefits, the complexity it introduced in state management slowed development. Wix responded by adopting a simpler, unified CRUD model. This talk will explore the challenges of event sourcing and the advantages of Wix's new "CRUD on steroids" approach, which streamlines API integration and domain event management while preserving data integrity and system resilience.
Participants will gain valuable insights into Wix's strategies for ensuring atomicity in database updates and event production, as well as caching, materialization, and performance optimization techniques within a distributed system.
Join us to discover how Wix has mastered the art of balancing simplicity and extensibility, and learn how the re-adoption of the modest CRUD has turbocharged their development velocity, resilience, and scalability in a high-growth environment.
