Desalination is the process of removing salts and minerals from sea water to produce fresh water for drinking and irrigation. Currently 230 million people rely on desalination from the over 14,500 plants operating worldwide. However, desalination is an important future source of fresh water as population growth and climate change are reducing conventional fresh water supplies in many regions of the world. While desalination helps meet water demand, its high energy use and briny wastewater disposal require regulations and technologies to minimize environmental impacts.
In this presentation the authors (Hug March, David Suarí, David Suarí) explore the shift towards desalination as an alternative to other water supply options such as river regulation or inter-basin water transfers. Desalination has been seen as the cure for everything that dams and inter-basin water transfers
were unable to solve, including droughts, scarcities, social conflicts, environmental impacts, and political rivalries among the different Spanish regions. Desalination also means a new and powerful element in water planning and management that could provide water for the continuous expansion of the urban and tourism growth machine in Mediterranean Spain and thus relax possible water constraints on this growth. However, by 2012 most new desalination plants along the Mediterranean coast remained almost idle. Focusing on the case of the Mancomunidad de los Canales del Taibillla in south-eastern Spain, the authors objective is to develop a critical, integrated and reflexive perspective on the use of desalination as a source of water for urban and regional growth.

Seawater desalination operation maintainence and trouble shootingRajesh Mon
This document discusses the operations, maintenance, and troubleshooting of a seawater desalination plant using reverse osmosis technology. It begins with an introduction to seawater characteristics and water quality standards. It then covers the reverse osmosis process, membrane types, system design software, energy recovery systems, chemical usage, and general operation and maintenance procedures. Maintaining proper operation and start-up/shutdown procedures is important for long-term membrane performance and preventing fouling or scaling issues.

Mida SpA - L'eccellenza negli individui e nelle organizzazioni 2009, Emanuele...Mida

1. Gestire i Low Perfomer
Ottenere il Massimo dal proprio
TEAM
2. Cosa è Importante
• A tutti noi piace pensare a noi stessi come
perfomer.
• Quindi, come possiamo ottenere il massimo
dalla gente?
Anche se politicamente scorretto,
è una domanda che conta.
3. Quali sfide presentano i low
perfomer?
lavorare.
4. Cosa genera la non gestiore
corretta nel medio/lungo perido?
• assenteismo
• ritardi
• Scarsa attitudine / insubordinazione
• Scarso rendimento sui compiti assegnati
• Prestazioni contestuale Scarsa
5.
6. Mettere le persone giuste al posto
giusto
• E 'dove l'allineamento organizzativo diventa
realtà.
8. Da dove iniziare?
1.Identificare le tre sfide che i low
performer presentano
perfomer
3.Spiegare perché queste strategie hanno
senso, e spiegare come implementare
queste strategie sul posto di lavoro.
Editor's Notes
Field the best possible leaders at every level of the organization.*
Extrude poor performers who are “net negative.”
Trade up at every opportunity.
Stop trying to transform them into exceptional performers.
Lower the bar.
Clarify minimal expectations.
Avoid criticism.
Remain unfailingly good-humored.
Identify their passions.
Focus on their goals.
Watch for pride and reinforce it.
Help them find the “zone.”*
Predict and manage their reactions.
Focus on their strengths.
Recognize their need for approval.
Accommodate their sensitivities.
Create checklists.
Provide praise for routine accomplishments.
Focus on their contribution to the team.
Ask for their help instead of giving orders.
Discover and celebrate their uniqueness.
First, ask yourself whether you have fielded the best possible team of leaders.
If you haven’t done it, do it.
When you have, ask your boss to do the same.
Offer your resignation as evidence of your commitment.
Persuade your colleagues to take the same approach.
Participate in meaningful succession planning.
If you are an executive, remind the CEO that this is her primary obligation to the organization and the community
Find the zone yourself.
Learn from others who are usually in the zone.
Ask people what they enjoy most about their work, and then listen very carefully.
Arrange for them to do more of that.
Focus on what they want to accomplish instead of what you want them to accomplish.
Watch for the natural emergence of pride, then reinforce it.
