An "unconventional" overview of the roles in an agile project through the metaphor of the characters of "Star Wars", presented during the event "Aperitivi di Project Management " of the PMI Central Italy Chapter on 28 February 2018

In the driver's seat: leadership challanges in tomorrow's world_ Rome_May 27t...Isabella Cattan
There comes a time when people have a feeling that change is in the air. We live in such a time. The way we do business will be dramatically different in the future, as will the way we lead people and organizations. It is a perception based on experiences, observations, and trends, all of which add up to a sense that we are in an era of far-reaching change.
It is also a perception of employees becoming as concerned about living fulfilling lifestyles as they are about how much they earn—if not more so. Of talented individuals being able to change jobs at will. Of companies struggling to find young talent, while older employees continue to work past 60 and 70 years of age.
What are the implications for organizations and their leaders in the immediate and longer term? How will this affect the way that leaders lead? We wondered if it would be possible to identify the main drivers of change. How could we systematically analyze these drivers and their implications? What would be the right framework for such a
study?
Hence, the title of our seminar “In The Driver’s Seat” leadership challenges in Tomorrow’s World. This brought us to conduct a survey, led Sonia Biondi, Isabella Cattan and Simona Orlandi, to canvass business leaders for opinions about collective leadership and insight into four trends for the future of leadership development:
1. Focus on vertical development
2. Transfer of greater developmental ownership to the individual
3. Focus on collective rather than individual leadership
4. Greater focus on innovation in leadership development methods
5. Focus on multicultural leadership aspects
We analyzed the views of affirmed Leaders, young Leaders and tomorrow’s Leaders on their organizations’ leadership practices from a personal angle. We even conducted motivational group conversations with children and in-depth interviews with teachers, using clinical and scientific methods to establish new elements in the equation for tomorrow’s leaders.
In an effort to understand the causes and consequences of each one in detail, on three important levels: the business environment, organizations, and leaders and their teams, it also becomes spontaneous to ask: What do they have in common? Where do they cross over? To what extent do they reinforce or contradict each other, and how? And
what are the implications of the trends taken together for sustainability?
This led us to an important discovery. Not only does each trend have implications for organizational leaders, but combined they result in “re-inforcers” and dilemmas that will make life even tougher for leaders in the future. What this survey attempts to do is to investigate some of the indicators of long-term, fundamental change, then draw conclusions. In some ways, this is a counterintuitive exercise, for human beings tend not to question the world around them.

AI as a Service: the future has never been so simple with cloudEmiliano Pecis
Do you remember the futuristic movie called Minority Report, taken from the famous novel by Philip K. Dick, where a system automatically recognizes customers entering the store? The future is now, thanks to the AI services offered by Amazon. In this talk we will show you how easy it is to create a person's automatic recognition system by simply invoking services on the cloud and using cheap device like a RaspberryPi. We will show how to set up a complete serverless architecture with AWS Lambda to execute your code and interact with AWS services like S3, Rekognition and Polly. We will show to you how is simple to integrate the AWS world with a RaspberryPi (or any other IoT devie) through the AWS API Gateway service. We will show you all these thing with a real demo with real device.. because the future is now!
For this demo we are used a simple Raspberry Pi 3 Model B with the Camera borad V2 and Bright PI board v1, on which we have installed the linux distro Raspbian. With Python and OpenCV framework we are written a simple script that uses camera to detect faces, take the frames and send these to the Cloud. An API Rest, realized with AWS Api Gateway, is the entry point for the AWS world. After that an AWS Lambda function takes in charge the request and implements all the logic to save the photo on a S3 bucket and call AWS Rekognition to analyse and detect the face. The function try to associates metadata saved on a DynamoDB table with the data returned from AWS Rekognition service. With this data the Lambda creates a simple phrase with name and surname of the recognized person and a special charateristic revealed on the photo. Finally a call to AWS Polly, a text-to-speech service, is made to get the mp3 from the text. Then the audio file is returned to the API Rest call that was made by the RaspberryPi. Finally the device closes the loop with the play of this file.
Where SOA and Monolitch EAR have failed. It's not simple to have your Apps scaling automagically without a very complex architecture. We're going to show pros and cons of so called Cloud-Native Applications based on Microservices, Caas, DevOps, Continuous Delivery....

2. Riguardo me
▪ 14 anni in Oracle (supporto, consulenza, prevendita)
3. Agenda
▪ Perché questo talk
▪ Cosa è la Leadership
▪ Differenze tra il Leader e il Manager
▪ I danni del Micromanagement
▪ Level 5 Leadership: il trionfo dell’umiltà
▪ Le sfide del genitore
▪ Leadership: le lezioni di mio figlio
▪ Perché assumere neo mamme per ruoli manageriali
▪ Conclusioni
4. Perché questo talk
• La mia leadership migliorava
con l’esperienza genitoriale
• Vi è un continuum tra l’essere
padre a casa e leader a lavoro
• Perché serve leadership (e
non management) quando ci
si relaziona con i propri figli
6. A Cosa NON serve la Leadership
La Leadership non serve a:
• Pianificare
• Risolvere i problemi
• Organizzare le persone
7. Manager e Leader, due diverse entità
Manager Leader
• Gestisce la complessità
• Planning & Budgeting
• Organizzazione & Staffing
• Gestisce il cambiamento
• Indica la direzione
• Allinea le persone
9. Manager Vs Leader (per farla semplice)
I manager giocano a dama
I leader giocano a scacchi
10. Il vero problema è il Micromanagement
• L’ansia governa e distrugge
• Incapacità a delegare
• Perdita di autorevolezza
• Peggiori performance
• Profezia che si auto-adempie
• Il 90% dei Manager divide il
proprio team in gruppi di IN e
OUT
permettere all’azienda di eccellere
12. Ci riesce grazie all’empatia
15. Cosa è la 5 level Leadership in numeri
• Una sola domanda: può una buona
azienda diventare grande? Se sì,
come?
• Analizzate 1435 aziende dal 1965 al
1995
• Solo 11 hanno mostrato di
diventarlo: con una crescita di
almeno 7x in 15 anni dalla
transazione
• Sono state analizzati i CEO di
queste 11 aziende e si è scoperto
che…
16. 16
Umiltà + Capacità = Level 5
Umiltà personale
• Dimostra modestia
• Mostra ambizione per
l’azienda non per se stesso
• Guarda allo specchio a
fronte di cattivi risultati
• Non da’ mai la colpa agli
altri, a fattori esterni, o alla
cattiva sorte
Capacità Professionale
• Ottiene risultati superbi
• Dimostra una
determinazione incrollabile
di fare tutto ciò che deve
essere fatto per produrre i
migliori risultati, non
importa quanto sia difficile
• Il credito del successo va
agli altri e alla fortuna
17. Perché assumere donne (possibilmente neo
mamme) per ruoli manageriali
I ricercatori hanno notato che le
prestazioni dei gruppi più affiatati
non erano correlate solo alle abilità
individuali ma si manifestava una
sorta di intelligenza collettiva
in grado di migliorare la
prestazione del gruppo anche del
40%
collettiva.
18. Le sfide del genitore: effetto panning
Gestire il suo cambiamento:
• Andare alla sua velocità
• Focalizzarsi su di lui
• Farlo crescere delegando
• Ascoltarlo empaticamente
• Dargli i giusti feedback
• Farlo divertire
• Proteggerlo dai pericoli
esterni
• Stimolare la crescita
• Aumentare la sua autostima
• …
tanto meno umane)
• Chi gestisce le persone, come i propri figli, ha un
grande potere: quello di farle crescere
• “Da un grande potere derivano grandi responsabilità”
