First attempt Genre / Teen Idle
The music I have chosenlies under the genre of indie pop or drama, the
artists who sings the song is Marina and the Diamonds. Genre ranges
from things like costume to theme and type of music also things like
structure, signs and symbols. Though the actual song I have chosen
doesn’thave a music video I understand what style of music video I will
be going for as all her videos are of the same genre and from looking at
other music video of indie pop I have an Idea of how to structure it. Most
of her music videos range from performance to narrative, I will be going
for narrative as I feel this song would best suit that category.
For this gene I would have to take into consideration the costume With
regards to costume, I would have made my actress wear the kind of
clothing that is usually seen in this genre of music, however due to my
narrative I will be going for a different look. My music video will be
inspired by the movie Carrie, as I think this genre of film goes very well
with the song that I have chosen. So my actress will wear dull clothing at
first and as we get towards the end of the music video she will be wearing
a prom dress with a corsage and a bunch of flowers in her hand.
The music video will follow a shy girl outcast by her peers and sheltered
by her deeply religious mother, she has a dream of one day becoming
prom queen, however her obsessionwith having the good life that most
high schoolstudents take for granted becomes very overwhelming for her
and so she takes drugs to overcome this and by doing so hallucinates
about being prom queen on a stage as people applaud her.
Genre can provide structure and form which can allow a great deal of
creativity and virtuosity. The structure of my music video will follow the
structure of this genre, we will start with a flashback, in the schooltoilets
where Carrie is laughed at by her peers, locking herself in the toilets, we
go back to her in her room and the music then starts, by doing this I am
following the structure that most indie music videos follow.

Genre teen idle

  • 1. First attempt Genre / Teen Idle The music I have chosenlies under the genre of indie pop or drama, the artists who sings the song is Marina and the Diamonds. Genre ranges from things like costume to theme and type of music also things like structure, signs and symbols. Though the actual song I have chosen doesn’thave a music video I understand what style of music video I will be going for as all her videos are of the same genre and from looking at other music video of indie pop I have an Idea of how to structure it. Most of her music videos range from performance to narrative, I will be going for narrative as I feel this song would best suit that category. For this gene I would have to take into consideration the costume With regards to costume, I would have made my actress wear the kind of clothing that is usually seen in this genre of music, however due to my narrative I will be going for a different look. My music video will be inspired by the movie Carrie, as I think this genre of film goes very well with the song that I have chosen. So my actress will wear dull clothing at first and as we get towards the end of the music video she will be wearing a prom dress with a corsage and a bunch of flowers in her hand. The music video will follow a shy girl outcast by her peers and sheltered by her deeply religious mother, she has a dream of one day becoming prom queen, however her obsessionwith having the good life that most high schoolstudents take for granted becomes very overwhelming for her and so she takes drugs to overcome this and by doing so hallucinates about being prom queen on a stage as people applaud her. Genre can provide structure and form which can allow a great deal of creativity and virtuosity. The structure of my music video will follow the structure of this genre, we will start with a flashback, in the schooltoilets where Carrie is laughed at by her peers, locking herself in the toilets, we go back to her in her room and the music then starts, by doing this I am following the structure that most indie music videos follow. “The master image for genre criticism is the triangle composedof artist/film/audience.
