The Book of Beginnings All that is to be developed later in scripture is planted in Genesis. It serves as the introduction to the Pentateuch and all other scripture.  Genesis importance may be seen in that it is quoted more than 60 times in the N.T. Genesis means,  Origin;   Source;   Generation;   Birth.
