BIBLICAL FALL FEASTS FESTIVALS
1. BIBLICAL FALL FEASTS OF YHWH
Old Testament Hebrew letters
translated ‘the LORD’ in the KJV are
‘yod, hey, vav, hey’ & are transliterated
YHWH or YHVH – YahWeh or Yahovah
which is THE NAME of God.
2. YHWH SAYS ‘THESE ARE MY FEASTS’
Lev 23:2 KJV - Speak unto the children of Israel,
and say unto them, [Concerning] the feasts of the
LORD, which ye shall proclaim [to be] holy
convocations, [even] these [are] my feasts.
Lev 23:4 KJV - These [are] the feasts of the LORD,
[even] holy convocations, which ye shall proclaim
in their seasons.
3. YOM TERUAH or Rosh Hashana
The 1st of the Fall Feasts
Day of Blowing (Day of Shofar Blasts)
Or Head of the (civil) New Year
4. Leviticus 23:23-25
• 23 KJV - And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
• 24 KJV - Speak unto the children of Israel, saying,
In the seventh month (Tishri), in the first [day] of
the month, shall ye have a sabbath, a memorial
of *blowing (*H8643 Hebrew word is ‘teruah’) of
trumpets, an holy convocation. (note: ‘of trumpets’
is not found in the original Hebrew text)
• 25 KJV - Ye shall do no servile work [therein]: but
ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the
LORD.
5. H8643 Hebrew word TERUAH means:
• KJV usage is -
shout, shouting, shouted, alarm, sound, blowi
ng, joy, jubile, sounding, & rejoicing
• Context of all uses of ‘teruah’ in scripture &
it’s ‘first use’ in scripture indicate two general
meanings (more accurate than blowing or
shouting) which seem at first glance to oppose
one another –
• (1) Warning Alarm & (2) Joyful Noise
6. The 2nd Verse Instructing Us to
Observe Yom Teruah is Numbers 29:1
• KJV - And in the seventh month (Tishri), on the
first [day] of the month, ye shall have an holy
convocation; ye shall do no servile work: it is a
day of blowing (‘teruah’) the trumpets unto you.
(note: ‘the trumpets unto you’ is not found in the
original Hebrew text)
• These verses are speaking of the ‘seventh’ biblical
or Hebrew month which is Tishri (corresponds to
September/October on Gregorian calendar).
7. Yom Teruah verses side-by-side
• Lev 23:24 KJV - Speak unto the children of Israel,
saying, In the seventh month, in the first [day] of
the month, shall ye have a sabbath, a memorial
of blowing ‘teruah’ (joyful noise & warning
alarm) of trumpets, an holy convocation.
• Num 29:1 KJV - And in the seventh month, on the
first [day] of the month, ye shall have an holy
convocation; ye shall do no servile work: it is a
day of blowing ‘teruah’ (joyful noise & warning
alarm) the trumpets unto you.
8. WARNING ALARM &
JOYFUL NOISE?
• Lev 23:24 says it is ‘a memorial of blowing’ –
but of what?
• Num 29:1 says it is ‘a day of blowing’ – but of
what?
• KJV just decided to fill in the blank with
‘trumpets’ because the next feast, Yom
Kippur, indeed does call us to blow a trumpet.
• Fact is in scripture teruah can be any loud
alarm or also any type of loud joyful noise.
9. CLUES FROM SPRING FEASTS
The Fall Feasts are prophetic just as the Spring
Feasts were prophetic:
• Spring Feasts = Jesus (Yeshua’s) 1st coming
– Sacrificed on Feast of Passover as Passover Lamb
– Was without sin as Unleavened Bread (Feast of
Unleavened Bread)
– Arose on Feast of First Fruits as the first fruits of the
resurrection
– After His Ascension He sent the Holy Spirit on the
Feast of Shavuot (Pentecost)
10. FALL FEASTS FULFILL 2ND COMING
• Yom Teruah – Tishri 1
– ‘Memorial of’ & ‘Day of’ -- Joyful Noise & Sounding Alarm
– JOYFUL NOISE of Believers (who are born-again /grafted-in
children of YHWH through true repentance & atoning blood of
Yeshua) because they know the 2nd coming is eminent! –AND-
– SOUNDING ALARM for ‘last chance’ of repentance for those
who are not in the above group hence not living accordingly. A
warning to the world of the soon coming judgment of the earth.
• Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement)– Tishri 10
– Beginning of judgments on the earth. Blowing of the Shofar.
• Sukkot (Feast of Tabernacles)– Tishri 15
– Time of 2nd coming when Yeshua (the living Word of God) will
‘tabernacle’ (sukka) or live and reign among men in the
Millennial Kingdom.
11. Let’s Look at the 2nd Fall Feast
YOM KIPPUR – DAY OF ATONEMENT
• Lev 16:29 KJV - And [this] shall be a statute for ever unto
you: [that] in the seventh month (Tishri), on the tenth [day]
of the month, ye shall afflict your souls, and do no work at
all, [whether it be] one of your own country, or a stranger
that sojourneth among you:
• Lev 23:27 KJV - Also on the tenth [day] of this seventh
month (Tishri) [there shall be] a day of atonement: it shall
be an holy convocation unto you; and ye shall afflict your
souls, and offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD.
• Num 29:7 KJV - And ye shall have on the tenth [day] of this
seventh month (Tishri) an holy convocation; and ye shall
afflict your souls: ye shall not do any work [therein]:
12. YOM KIPPUR – DAY OF ATONEMENT
• Lev 25:9 KJV - Then shalt thou cause the trumpet
(shofar) of the jubile (teruah) to sound on the
tenth [day] of the seventh month (Tishri), in the
day of atonement shall ye make the trumpet
(shofar) sound throughout all your land.
– Trumpet here is found in the original Hebrew text as
the word ‘Shofar’ (this trumpet is the ram’s horn)
– Jubile here is from the Hebrew word ‘Teruah’ (alarm)
13. YOM KIPPUR – Day of the Prophetic
TRUMPET?
• 1Cr 15:52 KJV - In a moment, in the twinkling of an
eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and
the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be
changed.
• 1Th 4:16 KJV - For the Lord himself shall descend from
heaven with a shout, with the voice of the
archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in
Christ shall rise first: 1Th 4:17 KJV - Then we which are
alive [and] remain shall be caught up together with
them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so
shall we ever be with the Lord.
• Could these verses be speaking of the last Yom Kippur?
14. The 3rd & Final Fall Feast
SUKKOT – FEAST OF TABERNACLES
• Lev 23:34 KJV - Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, The
fifteenth day of this seventh month (Tishri) [shall be] the feast of
tabernacles (sukkas) [for] seven days unto the LORD.
• Lev 23:39 KJV - Also in the fifteenth day of the seventh month
(Tishri), when ye have gathered in the fruit of the land, ye shall keep
a feast unto the LORD seven days: on the first day [shall be] a
sabbath, and on the eighth day [shall be] a sabbath.
• Lev 23:41 KJV - And ye shall keep it a feast unto the LORD seven
days in the year. [It shall be] a statute for ever in your generations:
ye shall celebrate it in the seventh month (Tishri). Lev 23:42 KJV -
Ye shall dwell in booths (sukkas) seven days; all that are Israelites
born shall dwell in booths: (we are born or grafted in to Israel)
• Num 29:12 KJV - And on the fifteenth day of the seventh month
(Tishri) ye shall have an holy convocation; ye shall do no servile
work, and ye shall keep a feast unto the LORD seven days:
15. SUKKOT – FEAST OF TABERNACLES
cont’d
• Deu 16:13 KJV - Thou shalt observe the feast of tabernacles
(sukkas) seven days, after that thou hast gathered in thy
corn and thy wine:
• Deu 16:14 KJV - And thou shalt rejoice in thy feast, thou,
and thy son, and thy daughter, and thy manservant, and thy
maidservant, and the Levite, the stranger, and the
fatherless, and the widow, that [are] within thy gates.
• Deu 16:15 KJV - Seven days shalt thou keep a solemn feast
unto the LORD thy God in the place which the LORD shall
choose: because the LORD thy God shall bless thee in all
thine increase, and in all the works of thine hands,
therefore thou shalt surely rejoice.
• ‘Solemn’ is not in the original Hebrew text…
16. SUKKOT – FEAST OF TABERNACLES
We are told:
• Feast lasts for 7 days
• 1st day is Sabbath (day of rest) & 8th day (the
day after the 7 day feast) is also a Sabbath
• Dwell in booths 7 days (Hebrew ‘sukkas’ or
tabernacles are temporary dwellings)
• Rejoice and celebrate God’s (YHWH’s)
blessings! (This is NOT a solemn feast)
17. FEAST OF SUKKOT – PROPHETIC?

behold, the temple of the tabernacle of the
testimony in heaven was opened:
• Rev 21:3 KJV - And I heard a great voice out of
heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God

Editor's Notes
The true ancient pronunciation of God’s Name is the issue of much discussion as it has been effectively lost because of encouraged disuse by the Jewish people in order to avoid blaspheming His name or taking it in vain.
First of all to clarify that these are not ‘Jewish’ feasts for the Jews along lets see what our Father says about them in His Word the Holy Bible.
They both are names for the 1st day of the Hebrew month of Tishri which is the 7th biblical month and the 1st civil or historic Hebrew month before the Exodus out of Egypt. The 7th biblical month of Tishri always occurs in the fall (Sept/October) in conjunction with the fall harvests, hence the term fall feasts. Israelites (and hence those grafted into Israel through Messiah Yehsua Jesus) are instructed two times in scripture to observe this day as a ‘holy convocation’ or set apart assembly.
Here are the 1st verses regarding Yom Teruah. Strongs number H8643 is the Hebrew word teruah where we get the feast name Yom Teruah. The words ‘of trumpets’ is not in the Hebrew text but is actually added in the english translations. So lets take a closer look at the meaning Teruah by itself.
KJV translates Teruah into many different english words. When taking into account contextual uses of teruah in all the verses where it appears and then also looking at its first use in scripture you can derive two general meanings for this word in scripture which I think are more accurate that either blowing or shouting. Especially when you consider that in both verses where teruah appears regarding Yom Teruah there is no Hebrew word for trumpet in the scriptures. So Teruah could be a blowing of trumpets on this day but it could also be a joyful shouting or noise and a sounding alarm of any type. It is not limited in scripture to the blast of a Trumpet as suggested by tradition and the English alternative name for this feast ‘Day of Trumpets.
Now lets look at the 2nd verse that tells us to observe YomTeruah. The phrase ‘trumpets unto you’ in this verse in the KJV is also not found in the Hebrew text of this verse. So again why was teruah translated ‘blowing’ other than tradition? Without adding the phrase with trumpets, it could very well be translated ‘day of loud rejoicing’ or ‘day of sounding alarm’ instead.
I believe without the addition of trumpets these verses are both very vague as to what kind of memorial in Lev 23:24 and what kind of day in Num 29:1 that the teruah would be. This could be for a very good reason.
Lets quickly look at what some of you may already know about the spring feasts.
Lets quickly look at what some of you may already know about the spring feasts.
Just as Yeshua (Jesus) fulfilled all of the spring feasts to the day with His first coming, death, resurrection and the giving of the Holy Spirit, I will show you how the Fall Feasts could be fulfilled to the day by His 2nd Coming.
There are four verses that tell us to celebrate Yom Kippur or Day of Atonement. These 3 make no mention of the blowing of trumpets but do say we are to ‘afflict our souls’ understood to mean fast from eating. And we are not to do any work. Note that this is directed to both native born Israelites as well as the people that have joined themselves to them to live among them. This is not a joyful feast. Prophetic of coming judgment of the earth.
The 4th verse that instructs us on the observation of Yom Kippur or Day of Atonement follows shortly after the first instruction of Yom Teruah in Leviticus 23. This verse is correctly interpretted in the KJV to instruct us to make the trumpet sound or blow the shofar (rams horn). The Hebrew word translated Trumpet in this verse is Shofar. Even though this is not Yom Teruah which is the 1st day of the 10th month the word teruah is in this verse and would more appropriately be translated alarm.
Could these verses be talking of a future Yom Kippur trumpet?
So we have made a joyful noise and sounding alarm on Yom Teruah, then we sounded the Shofar one last time on Yom Kippur. Now we will look at the joyful celebration of Sukkot or Tabernacles. Tabernacles is the english translation of the Hebrew word Sukkas hence the name Feast of Sukkot. You may want to write these scriptures down.
At first glance verse 15 contradicts itself as well as verse 14 which says ‘rejoice in thy feast’ because the first part of verse 15 says to ‘keep a solemn feast’ but then the last of it says ‘rejoice’. Again you need to look to the original Hebrew text. There is no Hebrew word in this verse for solemn but only the word khagag which means feast or celebrate. This is intended to be a happy time. And there are many other verses that suggest this is to be a joyous time of celebration.
So in summary of the biblical description of the Feast of Sukkot:
No wonder we are told to rejoice on Sukkot or the Feast of Tabernacles!
There are lots of helpful bible study programs out there for free online that show you the original greek and hebrew words behind every english translated word in the KJV of the bible. These are just 2 of my favorites.
