UGIMA® 4598 is a resulphurised austenitic stainless steel developed by Ugitech to have significantly improved machinability compared to standard grade 1.4404/316L stainless steel. It contains additions of sulfur (>0.1%) and copper (1.3-1.8%) which enhance machinability during cutting operations. While it exhibits slightly reduced corrosion resistance compared to 1.4404, particularly in acidic environments, UGIMA® 4598 maintains good corrosion properties and can be used in many applications, including agricultural and food processing. It can be readily machined, formed, and welded using conventional fabrication techniques.
