Gaming industry in 2010
The gaming industry has grown significantly over the past decade, with revenues reaching nearly $11 billion in 2009. The average gamer is in their late 20s or early 30s, with about half of players aged 18-49. While males make up the majority, females now account for nearly half of all players. Popular gaming platforms include consoles like the Wii, PS3 and Xbox 360, as well as PCs. Top genres include action games and sports games, though family entertainment titles on the Wii have also been very successful. Major publishers in the industry include Activision, EA and Take Two Interactive.
