Clockwork Badgers aims to create a new MMO called The New Age to break into the gaming industry. They previously created arcade games for Xbox 360. The New Age will have players progress as a Survivor of a catastrophe that turned some humans into psychic Angels or Demons, or play as one of the Departed who hunt them. A unique selling point is a five-part episodic series included with the game to provide plot details before gameplay.

At all major game developers, product managers regularly produce teardowns. A teardown is an in-depth analysis of a competitor’s product, designed to highlight what can be learned. Product managers then pass these teardowns on to their internal development teams to help them make better products.
The industry term for this analysis is Teardown, and if you’ve never heard that before, it’s because the information Teardowns contain is so valuable that they are rarely shared publicly.

2. Mission Statement
The name of the company is, Clockwork Badgers and we are aiming to create a
new MMO (Massively Multiplayer Online) game called, The New Age.
But, we need your help.
3. What do we want to truly do?
We want to create a new game for gamers who enjoy MMO‟s and want a
fresh, original storyline to enjoy.
Having only recently started in the gaming industry, we decided this would be
our BIG debut game, breaking us out of our cocoon and into the great wide
open!
Originally Clockwork Badgers made arcade style games for the Xbox
360, games such as „Tunnel Light‟ „SwordBreaker‟ and „Trebuchet‟
4. Tunnel Light, SwordBreaker and Trebuchet
Tunnel Light was a first person SwordBreaker let players Trebuchet is a comedy

world, just so you can have
a laugh, really.
5. Target Audience
Due to the games seriousness, violence and offensive language, we are
targeting eighteen (18) year olds to young adults, roughly twenty-six (26)
We aim to have a community that does not hate on other players, so we are
trying to keep our targets at a respectable sector.
6. Why do we think this will appeal?
Other gamers who have played major MMO‟s like World of Warcraft, The
Old Republic and Guild Wars 2, will most definitely want to play our
game.
A good community that do not disrespect each other will bring in more
players that also wish for a great, sensible gaming community to call
home.
7. Did we win any awards?
Tunnel Light was nominated for a Golden Joystick
Award last year, for “Best Scary Indie Made Game”
But, we lost to SLENDER: The Arrival, which was
created by Blue Isle Studios and Mark Hadley.
Trebuchet was given a „Which Game is better?‟ poll
online against Angry Birds, Angry Birds won.
8. Competition
These are the biggest competition we
have in the conglomerate sector,
Ubisoft EA, Microsoft and Activision.
Conglomerates Although they are all giants within
the industry, Ubisoft and Activision
have been suffering from a decline
in games that have attracted the
public eye. EA has it‟s feet firmly
Ubisoft
stuck in what games it knows best,
EA they may not be good, but they still
Microsoft sell.
Activision Microsoft has the ultimate footing
in the entire industry, due to their
console, the Xbox 360.
9. SWOT Analysis
STRENGTHS – We have ties with other gaming companies. We have knowledge of the
gaming industry.
WEAKNESSES – As an indie company we have the issue of being funded, not having
the right amount of credentials
OPPORTUNITY – Due to influence from other companies and the community, we have
the opportunity to work with them all.
THREATS - Because we are an indie company we are worried about being
overshadowed by conglomerate companies.
10. Influences and
Competition But what ARE those influences?
There are so many influences and
competitors that we have at Clockwork
Badgers.
We aim to understand how they
managed to create games, but also be
wary of their prowess.
11. 343 Industries
The new owners of the world renowned
Halo franchise (whereas it used to
belong to Bungie games) They have
managed to successfully create and
contribute to a game that has gripped
the world many of times.
The company themselves have just
released Halo 4 and are a big
successful gaming studio.
12. Double Fine
Double Fine are the number one
company that are able to create games
that test a persons imagination, and
breaks so many „off-the-wall‟ factors.
Creators of Psychonauts, Stacking and
Brutal Legend, games that have odd
ideas, but are executed stunningly.
13. Born Ready Games
An indie based company that are
bringing back old style space shooters,
but with spectacular imagery.
Recently on Kickstarter they have just
managed to successfully fund their
Strike Suit Zero, game and finally
make it a reality.
14. MS Paint Adventures
Although not game
developers, Andrew Hussie, has
managed to create a web comic series
that spans over 5000 pages of comical
humour, odd environments and a crazy
storyline.
As of October 4th, a game is in the
works, Andrew Hussie is heading the
idea and hopefully bringing it to
fruition.
15.
16. So what is ‘The New Age’?
The New Age is an MMO game that requires the player to
progress as either a Survivor of a devastating catastrophe
that has wrecked the Earth and leaked horrid toxins that has
evolved some humans into psychic Angels, and vicious
Demons, or maybe hunting down these freakish races are
more your thing, then you can play as one of
„The Departed‟ Men and Women who want nothing but to
destroy the Angels and Demons.
Who will you pick, will you survive, aid the
innocent, murder the weak or become the hunters?
17. Unique Selling Point
Whilst this game is in production, we have a small team of animators working on a five
part episodic series that details the plot before the game takes place, what causes the
world to rupture, answers will be found in the series.
When people buy the full product online or at their local gaming shop, they will be given
a code which will instantly download the entire 30 minute long episodic series.
