501 Tech NYC: Crafting a Nonprofit Video Strategy (July 2010)See3 Communications
Michael Hoffman was joined by our client Sara Fusco of Refugees International to discuss nonprofit video strategy at the July 501 Tech NYC meet up at Planned Parenthood.
Below is a description of what we'll be covering:
"Organizations using online video effectively aren't just creating great content, they're creating great strategies. It all starts with understanding why video matters to your organization and rethinking what "viral" really means. We’ll talk about how to integrate video into your communications plan, how to staff and develop videos, and how to think about distribution. Bring your questions and walk away with examples of how nonprofits are using video to extend their programs and events online, to increase brand recognition, and to create valuable content for its supporters."

Managing and recruiting seasonal volunteers is always a challenge, particularly when volunteer interest can be skewed towards certain times of the year. While holiday volunteers can be a great asset to your organization, how do you recruit volunteers for the rest of the year? We'll discuss some strategies for maintaining a consistent volunteer base, and conveying the importance of year-round volunteers to your seasonal volunteer team. Made possible through funding from the Walmart Foundation.

Social Media: What is it and what’s in it for my library? Presentation to Vermont Trustees and Friends
Annual statewide conference for Trustees and Librarians sponsored by Vermont Department of Libraries (VTLIB) and the Trustees Section of the Vermont Library Association (VLA) Saturday November 2, 2013
Vermont Statehouse
Presented by Rob Fish, Vermont Digital Economy Project
From your website to social media, email to mobile messages, online to offline, multichannel strategies require coordination and creative thinking across teams and departments, and a focus on the core of your work beyond any one specific call to action. In this session, we will show you how to craft an online multichannel campaign plan to meet your mission and campaign goals, and how other organizations are successfully integrating multichannel efforts into their work. For example, what happens when you tie your Facebook posts to your online fundraising appeals? What about sending text messages connected to your email actions the next day? Multichannel strategies bring your staff together and connect your community across platforms for more targeted actions. This session provides highlights from the new book Social Change Anytime Everywhere: How to Implement Online Multichannel Strategies to Spark Advocacy, Raise Money, and Engage your Community by Allyson Kapin and Amy Sample Ward and gives you the next steps you need to start working to create real social change online and on the ground.
Campfire is a blueprint for social networking which we believe addresses a currently untapped niche in the creative community. It has been devised and is led by social entrepreneur Pete Lawrence, the founder of the successful Cooking Vinyl record label and Big Chill festivals. The Big Chill was well known for its thriving and proactive online community before the current mainstream social networks were established.
Campfire aims to be different. We want to build a complete ecosystem for the inspired and imaginative person thinking about culture and creative practice; arts meets science meets activism meets crafts meets funding meets social interaction.
It is clear that there exists a large, untapped demographic who are actively engaged in the creative industries, are wary of commercial interests impacting on their social networking experiences and are brand-aware trendsetters and tastemakers looking for something fulfilling, informative and practical, in order to make tangible the things that are presently intangible. Turning dreams into reality.
We hope you will find our Campfire circle warm and inviting, as well as being productive and fun.
Launch is scheduled for 2015, and we will announce our first event plans upon launch.

Moving the Needle on Engagement: How to Transition from a Promotion Strategy ...Cordelia Anderson
Presented as part of the online course, "Successful Library Marketing: A Masterful Approach to Strategies, Best Practices, and Tools To Turn Your Library Into a Powerhouse," in Nov 2016.
Are you constantly looking for the right funding route but coming up empty handed? Are you looking for alternative routes to fund your project that doesn’t rely on public bodies? Would you like to start engaging people with your project now? Crowdfunding could be your answer.
Crowdfunding is a modern, online and interactive way to raise funds directly from the public – or the Crowd – for your projects and activities. With the advent of Crowdfunding we can now turn our audiences into supporters and funders, by collecting multiple small donations online and offering unique incentives to encourage giving, not only can you raise funds to get your project of the ground but you can start to build a ‘buzz’ around it before hand.
The workshop will cover all the aspects you will need to create, implement and market your Crowdfunding project. Including:
• How does Crowdfunding work?
• Where can I crowdfund – what platforms are available?
• How to write the perfect pitch.
• Choosing the right rewards.
• Marketing your crowdfunding project.
• Engaging, thanking and keeping in touch with your new funders.
• Marketing your progress.
• Your next steps.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

2. Why do we as librarians need to
advocate?
We have COMPETITION– and they are all out there
advocating for themselves
When people think of us as involved in the community
they are likely to support the library
People who don’t come into the library need to hear
from us too
If we advocate– we create advocates who in turn will
advocate for the library
3. When do we as librarians need

ALL THE TIME
Not just when we’re in trouble– and not with a negative
