It defines the internet as a global network of interconnected computer networks using standardized protocols to share information. It distinguishes the internet, which connects computers, from the world wide web, which allows documents to be linked through hyperlinks using HTTP. It also briefly introduces Tim Berners-Lee as the inventor of the world wide web.
