Lily Interview Questions
Interviewer: How did you know Lily s mother?
August: I was a housekeeper for Deborah. I used to take care of her everyday. I ve heard about T. Ray
from her mother, but I have never seen him in person. Deborah told me all about him. Then when Lily
told me that she killed her mother, I couldn t imagine dealing with that for the rest of her life. I told
her that I love her and everyone loves her, just as much as her mother loved her. Her mother loved
everyone. I gave Deborah a picture of black Mary a little bit before she died, and that is how Lily
found us. She looked through her photo album. That is where Deborah kept all of her things.
Interviewer: How did you decide that you wanted Lily to stay at your house and let you help out with
the bees in the first place? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lily looked like Deborah when she was younger and right away I had knew why she had came. She
had came because she wanted to know about her mother, and I knew that I had to tell her at some
point about what happened. So I just let her stay. She needed to know the truth, and that is what I was
going to tell her, but I didn t want to talk about her mother too soon. That would get a better risk of her
running away like what she did with T. Ray.
Interviewer: What do you think Lily learned by staying with you and your sisters?
August: I believe that Lily learned that sometimes you have to forgive things in life to get past hard
times. She couldn t forgive herself enough for killing her mother, and that is why she ran away. She
needed to know the truth. Once she forgave herself, her whole life had changed.
Interviewer: How did you feel about the death of May? How did you feel about her actions and
emotions that lead to her death?

Comparison Of Mariam In A Thousand Splendid Suns
In the story A Thousand Splendid Suns , we follow the life of two different girls, Mariam and Laila.
They both lead two very different lives that spiral into two entirely different directions. They had
different education, different influences throughout their lives, and
One important difference between the two girls lives is their education. In the book, education is a big
theme in this story, especially surrounding these two characters. Thanks to the soviets, Laila was able
to go to a school and learn, something that was only privileged for men and boys. Mariam on the other
hand, was poor and considered illegitimate and not able to attend school like she wanted. In the book,
Laila states Babi had made it clear to Laila from a young age that the most important thing in his life,
after safety, was her schooling. Laila s father, Babi, had always valued education. He had made sure
Laila got the most out of her chance at education while she could before it was taken from her. After
all, he had firmly believed that women could and should do what man can do as well. Mariam s
mother, Nana, never allowed her to go to school or bothered educating her. She said how horrible
school was and how learning was a waste of time. Though Mariam didn t see it this way, this was her
mother s way of protecting her from having the same bad experiences as she had. Her intentions were
good, but this only drove Mariam further away from her.
Another important difference between the two girls

The Origin Of Smart City Movement
As the world experiences rapid advancement, the continuing population growth and urbanization are
inevitable. More population are now live in urban areas than the rural areas.
54 % of the world s population are residing in urban areas in 2014. It forecast increase to 66 percent or
an addition of 2.5 billion people in 2050 (United Nation, 2014). With this continuing of urbanization,
the cities indicate a suffer on its fundamental functionalities to services citizens as a liveable place
(Borja, 2007; Toppeta, 2010). This rapid transition raises the need in integrated policies to improve
lives (United Nation, 2014). This gives birth of the new urban development concept leveraging new
innovation introduced in the cities (Nam and Pardo, 2011).
The origin of Smart City movement is dated back since late 1990 s (Bollier, 1998). The term has been
adopted and advocated by many technologies services companies such as IBM (2009) and Cisco
(2005). It was a promotion of the integration of information systems into urban infrastructure and
services (Harrison and Donnelly, 2011).
This is a result of globalization and diffusion of technologies; cities growth process has been
influenced greatly by these two factors. Information communication technology (ICT) is now playing
an important role in governance and management of the cities in various sectors e.g. government
services, transport and traffic management, energy, health care, water, innovative urban agriculture
and waste management

Queen Margaret Curses, And Evil In William Shakespeare s...
Queen Margaret curses King Richard, as well as his allies in William Shakespeare s play, Richard III,
and her damnations of these characters are accurate. Shakespeare wrote Margaret to be a prophet who
is omniscient of the other character s fates. Margaret s cursing of Richard and his allies is an
expression of rage, as well as a form of vigilante justice. While Margret s anger appears more verbal
than violent, she determines the doom of King Richard, as well as his accomplices, making her the
most powerful character despite her relatively minor role in the play. Margaret s curses, once
neglected by the royals whom she condemns, begin to come true. In act one, scene one, Margaret had
warned the nobles to ... remember [her curses] another day, ... and say poor Margaret was a
prophetess. The effect of her curses is noticed by Grey, who says to Rivers and Vaughn in act three,
scene three, that he believes that Queen Margaret s earlier grievances have fall n upon [their] heads.
Grey is aware that Margaret had foreseen, or even caused his fate, as he says upon his death. While
Margaret personally convicts Richard from as early in the play as act one, scene three, she cannot get
many others to believe her, and she cannot personally bring Richard to justice; her only release of
anger or vengeance is spitting curses at Richard, and at anyone who dares to neglect her warnings. The
imbalance in power between Richard and his accomplices, who are all noble males, and Margaret, a

Different Types Of Mood Disorders
Introduction In my term paper I will be discussing the different types of mood disorders, the two types
of disorders that will be covered in this paper is depressive and bipolar disorder. I will be talking about
the signs and symptoms, known causes and factors that contribute, current researches that have been
conducted on the disorders, and also the diagnosis and treatments. Bipolar Disorders If you have a
mood d367isorder your emotion or mood is changed by the outcome of an event or an action by
another person. (Diseases and Conditions: Mood Disorders , n.d.) The first type that I m going to
discuss is bipolar disorder, which is a brain illness that causes your mood, energy, and your ability to
perform tasks on a daily basis to shift. There are at least four different types of bipolar disorders, all
four of these types cause your mood to shift, they just all have different behaviors, one type is called
manic episodes, which is a very hyper active behavior, and another type is depressive episode, which
is when a person is at their lowest of lows, and they all last for different variations of times. Bipolar I
Disorder is one type; the manic episode can last seven days or more or the episode could be so bad
that the person needs hospital care. Depressive episodes last at least two weeks, and the person could
have both episodes at the same time. Bipolar II Disorder is the second type, it is a pattern of
depressive and hypomanic, which is not as bad as manic episodes.

Analysis Of Child s Responses And Mathematical Thinking
Section A: Analysis of Child s Responses and Mathematical Thinking
Simpler Counting Tasks/More or Less/Conservation In the simpler counting section, Kerget was able
to count the correct number of teddies one by one by saying the corresponding number words out.
This shows that Kerget could divide objects with the same attribute into one collection and is able to
count small collections using the one to one correspondence counting knowledge. Lovin, Karp, Bay
Williams and Van de Walle (2013) maintain that children develop the concept of one to one
correspondence when they count objects by paring one number word with exactly one object. When
he finished counting the four yellow teddies, he turned to the green ones, starting from number one
instead of number five. He successfully identified which collections had more teddies. This further
indicates that Kerget understands the idea of collection and has the beginning knowledge of the
concepts of more and less . Children s understanding of the meanings and relationships of more , less ,
and same is the fundamental attribute to their number sense development (Lovin, Karp, Bay Williams,
Van de Walle, 2013). Kerget used the one to one correspondence knowledge to put out five teddies and
stopped when he said: five, there are five teddies. He understands that the last number word he said is
the total number of the objects he has been counted. This tells me he understands the concept of
cardinality. Lovin, Karp,

Presidential Election Of The United States
After almost two years on the campaign trail, the United States of America has finally elected its new
president, Donald Trump. No that is not a typo, this is real life. It was a hard fought battle between
Hillary Clinton and the Donald which ultimately lead to one of the most shocking upsets in recent
American politics. Being that the odds were heavily stacked against Trump as poll after poll predicted
Clinton be the victor, it was to the astonishment of many that he reigned victorious during this 2016
presidential election cycle. Be it the will of the country (or in this case electoral college ) this
poisonous cheeto will now be the 45th president of the United States. So how did this happen, what
was it about Trump that pushed voter behavior in his favor in many key battleground states? Trumps
victory lies in the hands of the silent majority who at this point were dying for change and saw it
within the republican nominee. The biggest contributing factor to Trump s win on November 8 was
retrospective voting which a lot of voters clearly engaged in this election cycle. When making the
decision of who to vote for during an election, voters often tend to start looking within at their own
situation before throwing their support at a candidate. Questioning whether ones is better off now than
they were before the previous election is known as retrospective voting. This concept is the idea that
voters take into consideration factors such as the performance a political party ,

Philosophy of Physical Education
Each and every person has a different view of what physical education really is. Is it education in
sport? asks Siedentop Is it fitness education? Is it social development? Is it development through risk
and adventure? Is it movement? Instead, he says, it is all of these things and maybe more? (1998,
p.237). Whereas Wuest and Butcher feel that physical activity is a means to help individuals acquire
skills, fitness, knowledge, and attitudes that contribute to their optimal development and well being
(2003, p.9). I believe that both of these aspects are important when defining physical education. I feel
that physical education is a means of movement and social interaction, but also an activity that will

What Does The Poem Represent The Hardship Of Child Labor...
Songs of Innocence and Songs of Experience represent the hardship of child labor during the mid
1800 s. The two stories are about chimney sweepers who have an awful life. The comparison of
emotions and situations for the two boys in Songs of Innocence and Songs of Experience shows their
hope, religion, and the way their stories end. In Songs of Innocence the chimney sweeper had an
overall positive outlook on life but has a bittersweet ending. The boy had a dream showing him that
eventually one day he will be with all his friends enjoying a happy life and no misery. The chimney
sweeper describes his vision, of all his friends in coffins of black and an angel came by to free them (
L. 11 14 ). This quote shows that one day he will be able to be back with all his passed friends and
have no worries. The chimney sweeper has a religious outlook on his belief. In the dream the angel

The boy seemed to have no hope of things getting better, but instead he puts a face on to make it seem
he is happy. As stated by the boy, They think they have done no injury (L. 9 10 ). His parents assume
that he is happy because he is smiling and dancing but he is actually in misery. The boy has no
religious connection with church or God of any kind, and he seems to blame everything bad
happening on that and his parents. The little boy explains that his parents have gone off to church and
pray while he is out working ( L. 3 4 ). The little boys parents did not care about him at all, because as
they were at church he was working bringing in an income. Songs of Experience ends off with the
little boy saying that it is the Kings, God, and his Priest fault. The little boy exclaims his anger, God
and his Priest and King, Who make up a heaven of our misery (L. 11 12 ) He did not have a
bittersweet or sweet ending but instead he had sad and depressing

The Personality Characteristics Of Personality
The notion of personality can be defined as a specific set of organised characteristics that influence a
person s everyday actions. These actions are guided by different motives and cognitive processes
causing the large range of behaviours in a person. Each person s characteristics are unique and come
together to create an individual personal identity (Burger, 2011). Therefore a personality is subjective
to each individual person, it is these unique characteristics that make it so. Characteristics such as
likes and dislikes, fear and strengths and weaknesses are what create the individual personality that is
seen by others (D. Schultz and P. Schultz, 2005). It is an important endeavour to discern where these
characteristics are derived from, the question whether or not a personality is the product of free will
has many relevant explorations. Free will in personality would suggest that a person has a free choice
over how their aforementioned personality characteristics may turn out (Maslow, 1943). This idea that
a person can determine their personality through a series of life choices directly contravenes the idea
of a pre determined personality that is shaped by biology and life events, called determinism (Skinner,
1957). Determinism is championed by Sigmund Freud in his psychodynamic theory (Freud, 1912),
although it will not be the focus of this essay, despite Freud s theories constituting as part of the main
crux of the latter part. In order to address the question

Native American Perspective on Indian Removal Act
In May 1830, Congress passed the Indian Removal Act which forced Native American tribes to move
west. Some Indians left swiftly, while others were forced to to leave by the United States Army. Some
were even taken away in chains. Andrew Jackson, the seventh president of the United States, strongly
reinforced this act. In the Second State of the Union Address, Jackson advocated his Indian Policy.
There was controversy as to whether the removal of the Native Americans was justified under the
administration of President Andrew Jackson. In my personal opinion, as a Native American, the
removal of the tribes was not in any way justified.
The removal of the Native Americans was an egocentric move on Jackson s part. Jackson was only

Jackson felt the removal of the Cherokees from our land was justified because the government was
paying for everything. Money can not compensate for the blood that was shed by our ancestors.
When some Indian tribes did not leave the land, federal troops came to Georgia to remove the tribes
forcibly. Cherokees resisted leaving their land until the bitter finish. Cherokees were marched by
gunpoint which was known as the infamous Trail of Tears. Many died due to the horrid conditions,
including my great grandmother. Any sensible person would have considered the consequences of
these actions. Jackson tried to make the trade seem peaceful and reasonable, but there is nothing sane
about the Trail of Tears. The consequence of a speedy removal will be important to the United States,
and to the Indians themselves (91). If Jackson really cared about our well being, like he claimed, why
would he allow the horrific Trail of Tears to persist? This exhibits Jackson s insincerity and disregard
for the inhuman conditions my ancestors had endure.
A main argument Andrew Jackson had was that the Indian Removal Act was only a continuation of a
change that was already happened, The present policy of the government is but a continuation of the
same progressive change by a milder process (93). He then continued to state how the tribes that
previously occupied the eastern states were annihilated to make room for the whites. This was a

Analysis Of Lies My Teacher Told Me
For when textbook authors leave out the warts, the problems, the unfortunate character traits, and the
mistaken ideas, they reduce heroes from dramatic men and women to melodramatic stick figures.
Their inner struggles disappear and they become goody goody, not just merely good. (Loewen, pg.
29). Lies My Teacher Told Me is a non fiction book written by author, American sociologist, and
historian, James W. Loewen. The popular belief is that schools buy the textbook that best fits the
curriculum, and by following these textbooks, students are learning to the best of their ability.
However, Loewen challenges this belief by providing evidence from eighteen different American
history textbooks. He believes that people in history should not be depicted as heroes when they
simply are not. To continue, Loewen states that students find history to be so boring since they can not
relate to it or the people in it. On page 354, he even concludes his book by stating, Students will start
finding history interesting when their teachers and textbook stop lying to them. There are three great
taboos in textbook publishing... sex, religion, and social class. (Loewen, pg. 27). This quote from the
book demonstrates that textbooks only touch upon what their authors believe students should be
learning about, or in other words, the less interesting, same timeworn stories they all mostly have
already learned about. History textbooks lie to students by leaving out important details about key
events and significant people. Loewen s purpose in writing this book was to prove exactly that to
students, and to provide them with the truth. Throughout the entire book, he decides to write about
people that students are taught to consider heroes, such as; Hellen Keller, Woodrow Wilson,
Christopher Columbus, and numerous more. Loewen succeeded in exposing people American s think
of as heroes for whom they actually are, and also prospered in exposing textbooks by providing the
truth behind the stories students are all taught. Eleven chapters have shown that textbooks supply
irrelevant and even erroneous details, while omitting pivotal questions and facts in their treatments of
issues... (Loewen, pg. 301). Throughout this book, Loewen

William Howe s Impact On Britain
William Howe, better known as General Howe, made a large impact on Britain and the rest of Europe.
William Howe was born on August 10, 1729, in England. William was also the youngest of three
brothers in his family. His parents were wealthy members of the English upper class. His father s
name was Viscount Howe, and his mom s name was Maria Sophia. When William was about twelve
years old he was sent out from his home to go to Eaton, a famous preparatory school. William was a
good student and eventually graduated in 1746. After graduating he joined the King s army. He was

The Real Heroes in Literature
What images are associated with the words hero ? A muscular Hercules saving the world from Hades?
A knight in shining armor bravely riding into combat? Words like bravery, strength, pride, and self
sacrifice are commonly connected with a classic hero. But are those the only characteristics that make
someone heroic? A dictionary definition of a hero is a man of distinguished courage or ability, admired
for his brave deeds and noble qualities ; however, this is a very elastic definition and there are many
other types and definitions of heroes depending on circumstances. Is there one that is correct? Do all
heroes share any common characteristics? According to Orin E. Klapp, a hero is a person, real or

Throughout the journey, Bilbo is able to defeat a few enemies, such as when he buys time during the
troll incident, and helps the dwarves escape from the spiders; however, Diogo GonƧalves, points out
that even when he starts becoming useful for the group... he is humble; Bilbo doesn t mock on those
he defeats, as the classic hero tended to do (44), rather the mockery is used to defeat the enemies. A
clear example is the incident with the spiders, where he angers them by calling them offensive names
in order to give the dwarves a chance to escape. Despite all these differences, Bilbo is still accepted as
a hero in today s society and does share some traits with the classic hero. One of the reasons I believe
he is accepted in today s society is because he is easy to relate to, demonstrating pleasure in his
domestic lifestyle, but at the same time, possessing a natural curiosity and a desire to enjoy the
occasional adventure outside his comfort zone. He also has the admirable quality of loyalty and
persistence. Even when the dwarves wanted to know why he had ever been brought at all, why he
could not stick to his friends and come along with them, and why the wizard had not chosen someone
with more sense, and that He has been more trouble than use so far, said one (Tolkien 44), Bilbo still
stuck by their side and helped them to the best of his abilities. Just like the Cinderella hero, Bilbo was
probably not the dwarves first choice

The Rivalry Between Boeing and Airbus Essay
The Rivalry Between Boeing and Airbus The rivalry between Boeing and Airbus goes back a long
way, when Boeing was by far the dominant supplier of commercial airplanes. Up until 1997, Boeing
was the clear market leader on the passenger airplane market. Now the situation is less certain, as
Airbus has overtaken its American competitor[1] not only in the domestic market but also in the world
market, with its introduction of new models of passenger aircrafts. The main issue addressed in this
article is that a 1992 U.S. EU civilian aircraft pact allows too much European government support for
Airbus, helping it sell more jetliners than Boeing, which had an 80% share in the market a decade ago.
Thus the U.S. government wants the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The effect of providing the subsidy to Airbus would be a shift in the domestic supply curve to the right
(as the subsidy is so much per unit produced) to Sdom + Subsidy. Airbus receives the world price Pw,
plus the subsidy, which is the vertical distance AD. They receive a subsidy PwPsubAD. Hence,
although the domestic price will remain unchanged, the domestic production of Airbus will increase to
Q3. Therefore there has been a transfer in the quantity supplied from imports to domestic producers,
which is marked by the region Q3 Q1. The protectionist measures have not only helped Airbus to
establish itself and gain a comparative advantage through increased production, but it has also helped
to increase employment, which leads to an increase in the standard of living of the citizens and thus
lead to economic growth in the E.U. Since 1997 Airbus has had several advantages in the production
of aircrafts. Since their goods are still being subsidized, Airbus has expanded its sales from the home
market to the overseas market. Thus, their quality products and subsidies together would enable them
to resort to dumping (selling exports below their marginal costs of production) their products into the
world market, at the cost of their main competitor Boeing. The argument posted by John Veroneau,
general counsel for the U.S. Trade Representative s office is that the 1992 civil aircraft

Why Sols Should Be Banned
Sols should be banned because they cause lots of stress during them and preparing for them. Another
reason why SOLs are bad is because they give only a small amount of time to study everything you
have learned all year. One other reason is you have to take a bunch of test before the SOL to see how
you might do on the test. These reasons are why I am going to convince you that SOLs should be
banned. For starters, let s face it SOLs cause so much stress on the teachers and the students. There is
a lot of stress and anxiety during the entire school year to make sure students are even ready to take
these tests. The stress these cause can really make a student feel like they are not smart and not fitting
in. This is because students have to answer trick questions that are different than the kind they have to
answer is class. Also, because the SOLs are long and boring which causes more anxiety because you
see other students worry about it too. You also get stressed when some people are already finished
before you. Next I am going to talk about another reason why SOLs should be banned. You first start
getting all these review packets only a few weeks before the tests but you get them for a bunch of
classes at once. The problem is most people can not remember most of it. Especially when people
have a hard time focusing or remembering when there ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The tests are long and tricky because of the questions. It would be way easier if you could just talk to
someone about the answers instead of sitting in a room staring at a computer

Abstract
Cognitive processes helps to obtain information and make conscious and subconscious assumptions
about the world around us. There are five conventional senses are utilized in this complex process as a
way of gathering information. Cognitive processes are unobservable; researchers remain to study ways
to come up with behaviors or measures of performance to mirror cognitive processes (Robinson

Learning is how we adapt, develop, change and grow. Language, explains how and why an individual
understands what another person has written or expressed (Gregory Robertson Riegler, 2008). When
children acquire a ļ¬rst language, they build on what they know as well as conceptual information that
discriminates and helps create categories for the objects, relations and events they experience. This
provides the starting point for language from the age of 12 months on. So children ļ¬rst set up
conceptual representations, then add linguistic representations for talking about experience (Denise
Boyd, 2002).
Learning
Learning is distinguished from behavioral changes arising from such processes as maturation and
illness (Reuters, 2012). Learning is not just a change in behavior; it is a change in the way an
individual thinks, understands, or feels (Gregory Robertson Riegler, 2008). The ability to learn is one
of the most exceptional human characteristics. Learning occurs continuously throughout a person s
lifetime. To define learning, it is necessary to analyze what happens to the individual. An individual s
way of perceiving, thinking, feeling, and doing may change as a result of a learning experience.
Nevertheless, learning can be characterized as a change in behavior as a result of experience. This can
be physical and evident, or it may involve intricate intellectual or attitudinal changes which affect
behavior in more subtle ways (Colman, 2006). Learning

Hamlet Gender Roles

Gender: Women, the Lesser Sex Throughout the Ages When one thinks of art and religion, one may
think of gender role defiance and non conformism. While this may be generally true in present times,
it was not always this way. Women and men have had distinctly different places in society, these
places often being unequal. Generally most well known works throughout the ages have adhered to
and represented what society regarded as the proper gender roles for men and women. This is
represented in three works of art which will be discussed: Hamlet by William Shakespeare, The
Courtier: Book 3 by Baldassare Castiglione, and Luncheon on the Grass by Eduoard Manet. While
these three forms of art come from different times and are of different mediums, they are connected in
that they follow and represent the gender roles of their time. Hamlet is regarded by many as
Shakespeare s most well known work. A tragedy focused on revenge, this work awed the Elizabethan
audience with its shocking themes and content. The play follows Hamlet, a prince who is fixated on
avenging his father, who was murdered by Hamlet s uncle Claudius. Throughout the entirety of the

A Very Brief Timeline of One Direction
In 2010, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles, and Louis Tomlinson auditioned as solo
candidates for the seventh series of the British televised singing competition The X Factor.[4] They
failed to progress to the Boys category at judges houses but were put together to form a five piece boy
band at Wembley Arena, in London, England, in July 2010, during the bootcamp stage of the
competition,[5] thus qualifying for the Groups category. Nicole Scherzinger, a guest judge,[4][6][7]
and Simon Cowell have both claimed to have come up with the idea of forming the band. In 2013,
Cowell said that it took him 10 minutes to put them together as a group .[8] Subsequently, the group
got together for two weeks to get to know each other and to practise.[9][10] Styles came up with the
name One Direction.[9] For their qualifying song at judges houses , and their first song as a group,
One Direction sang an acoustic version of Torn .[11] Cowell later commented that their performance
convinced him that they were confident, fun, like a gang of friends, and kind of fearless as well. [12]
Within the first four weeks of the live shows, they were his last act in the competition.[13] The group
quickly gained popularity in the UK.[12]
One Direction finished in third place and immediately after the final, their song Forever Young , which
would have been released if they had won The X Factor, was leaked onto the internet.[14] Shortly
afterwards it was confirmed that One

Desire In Thou Blind Man s Mark By Sir Philip Sidney
In Sir Philip Sidney s sonnet, Thou Blind Man s Mark, the speaker describes his personal experience
with the vice of desire. Buy expressing the abstract and hazardous nature of desire it becomes evident
that the speaker acknowledges both his disdain for the subject and his struggle to overcome it. The
initial quatrain builds the idea of the blind man s mark, known as desire, with the speaker presenting
progressively derogatory comments about it. By addressing desire as the blind man s mark the speaker
implies that those who succumb to it are unaware of themselves doing so, since blindness represents a
lack of perception. Adding to this notion, the speaker continues to call desire fond fancy s scum, and
dregs of scattered thought to engrain the fleeting an trite nature the subject possesses. This list of
insults climaxes in the final line of the quatrain, where the speaker states that the ultimate danger of
the convoluted web of will is its perpetuity, since its end is never wrought; because it spirals on
without an individuals critically analyzing their actions. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The speaker s confession points to how the speaker understands why others may fall victim to desire
as well, offering a hint of solidarity. But overall, the speaker advises those tempted to avoid desire by
explaining the price he had to pay for submitting to it. The speaker describes the toll by recalling how
he gained a mangled mind and worthless ware, and uses alliteration to accentuate how he had partook
in desire in the past. The speaker mentions the ills that he has accumulated in hopes of waking those
who are asleep and oblivious to the dangers of desire, like he once

All these are the basic focuses of department. 1.2.2 High Efficiency Irrigation Systems
In crop production the irrigation water is the most critical factor to enhance its productivity and also
effective use of other non water inputs. There is inefficient use of available resources in agriculture
field in Punjab province and on other hand Punjab is encountering severe shortage of irrigation water
from many decades. It is causing much lower agriculture productivity while Punjab is highly
productive resource base of Pakistan. High efficiency irrigation systems (HEIS) resulted in finding
water and nutrient efficient options and most appropriate ways to address various crop production
related issues.
1.2.3 Types of HEIS
There are number of High efficiency irrigation system methods such as bubbler , drip , rain gun, center
pivot , conventional sprinkler all these methods involve use of pipes for carrying water from the
source to points of use. Small emitters in form of droplets are being used in drip or trickle irrigation
which provide water to individual plants without causing waste of water. Bubbler irrigation is as well
similar to trickle irrigation the difference is only that instead of pipe in this form of system we use
micro sprinklers mounted on small spikes. Only in rain gun irrigation system water is being pumped at
high pressure via piped system and then after sprayed over the field.

The Success Of Juvenile Pre Trial Diversion Program
The success of juvenile pre trial diversion programs is often dependent on cost analyses and
recidivism rates. However, from a psychosocial perspective, success of a diversion program cannot be
based solely on the completion of the program, the absence of a future arrest, or the short term cost
beneficial. There is a need to include the evaluation of the diversion program participant s
psychological and emotional health following the completion of the program, as well as a positive
perception of their future in order to truly measure the success of these programs.
Data from the National Center for Juvenile Justice s Juvenile Court Statistics in 2009 concluded that

Additionally, much literature discusses the juvenile s experiences while in the programs, but lacks an
understanding of what happens long after the juvenile completes the program and transitions into
adulthood. Due to this, the literature review will focus on the major topics of juvenile s experiences
prior to and during participation in a program, focusing on mental health, substance abuse, and
success and failures of different treatment approaches. The purpose of examining the literature from
this point of view was to gain an understanding of what possible outcomes participants in this study
may have experienced.
Mental health is a major factor to consider with juvenile offenders. Much of the literature regarding
the juvenile justice system and juvenile diversion programs focus on mental health. It is estimated that
50% 70% of juveniles in the justice system have a diagnosable disorder, oftentimes with a comorbid
substance use disorder, yet these disorders are sometimes overlooked during intake (Schubert, Mulvey
Glasheen, 2011). In a 2010 study by McReynolds, Schwalbe and Wasserman, almost half of the
sample of 915 youths participating in the study reported a disorder such as an anxiety disorder,
affective disorder and disruptive behavior disorder, with substance use disorder being the most
prevalent. Approximately half of the participants were first time offenders,

We re not Americans. We re Africans who happen to be in America. We were kidnapped and brought
here against our will from Africa. We didn t land on Plymouth Rock that rock landed on us. (Lord,
Thornton, and Bodipo Memba, 1992)
Words like those above would engrave Malcolm X into the minds of Americans from all racial
backgrounds and socio economic classes. Malcolm X was certainly not one to mince words. America
would come to remember him as The Hate That Hate Produced , the title of a 1959 CBS documentary
narrated by Mike Wallace which focused on Malcolm s involvement in what was perceived as the rise

Malcolm X :
quot;I had put a stolen watch into a jewelry shop to replace a broken crystal, quot; he said. quot; Two

Malcolm recalls that he was armed when he went into the shop and that an undercover policeman was

officer. He didn t try to flee or to fight back as he was arrested. He pleaded guilty to numerous

It would be while he was in prison for this crime that he would join the Nation of Islam. With the

twelve years of his life would be devoted to righting the wrongs that the whites had dealt to the blacks
throughout the history of the United States.

The Contradictions Of Women During The Victorian Era
The Victorian Era took place during 1837 1901 and is known as Queen Victoria s time period. She
was the first English monarch to see her name given to a time period while living. It was a time of
rapid advances in scientific, technological and medical knowledge, and even population growth.
Although Victorian England was based around the ideals of proper etiquette and maintaining high
society , the treatment of women during the Victorian Era highlights the contradictions of this time.
Families in the Victorian Society were known to be rather large consisting of 6 children if they were
wealthy but even larger if they were poor. Women during the 1870 s were known to have on average
six children, but women towards the 1910 s were more likely to have three on average. Victorian
houses differed if you were poor or wealthy. Wealthy families were known to have large extravagant
homes with several bedrooms, large living rooms, parlors and dining rooms separate from the
kitchens. Poor families on the other hand were crowded into one room that sometimes had to hold
families of about twelve children plus the parents. Poor families had more children because it meant
that there were more able bodies to go to work and make money. There are four social ... Show more

EAW And Due Process Analysis
Werhane and Radin s theory holds that employees and employers alike are allowed to end their
employment For a good cause, for no cause, or even for causes morally wrong (pp.255) without being
penalized for doing so. So essentially, the employer may terminate an employee s service for any of
the above and the employee at the same time can quit their jobs for any of the above without having to
give notice and not be penalized for it. While employees in the private sector have no rights to due
process or appeal an employment decision since they are under at will ; employees in the public sector
have guaranteed rights for due process. Even though, EAW does not utilize due process and is till

inside the small intestine to the blood. Calcitonin does the opposite of the parathyroid hormone and
vitamin D. While the parathyroid gland and vitamin D raise the calcium levels, calcitonin decreases it.
Calcitonin is a hormone secreted by the C cell of the thyroid gland that lowers blood calcium levels by
inhibiting bone resorption. (Lingohr Smith, 2011). Having high and low levels of calcium in the body
affects the body differently. Hypercalcemia is the medical term for high blood calcium. Having too
much calcium in the body can lead to an increased risk of kidney stones, constipation, nausea, and
high blood pressure. People with hypercalcemia may also have stomach, muscle and joint pain. Very
severe hypercalcemia can cause symptoms of brain dysfunction such as confusion, emotional
disturbances, delirium, hallucinations, and coma. Irregularly low calcium levels in the blood are
known as hypocalcaemia. Your bones and teeth will begin to deteriorate because your body takes the
calcium that is stored in your bones to carry out the functions that are dependent on calcium.
Hypocalcaemia can cause fragile bones, brittle nails and can cause frequent muscle cramps. It can also

Native American Graves Protection Act Essay
Module 8: Native American Graves Protection Repatriation Act The Native Americans have been in
North America since about 13,000 B.C.E. and even left traces of art in the state of Ohio. However,
those traces have been messed with over the years and an act had to be put in place to protect their
burial mounds in particular. The Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA)
was put in place in 1990 to stop people from removing artifacts out of their graves without meeting
certain requirements and have some of them be returned as well. They do not want any more
disturbances to the burial ground as it is disrespectful to the tribes and it makes it harder on
archeologists to identify the item, where it came from, and how old ... Show more content on

Other historic and archeological facts can be disturbed by this as well so it is a major issue. An
example of those who would be blamed for the buildings of the mounds in the eighteenth century
would be the Vikings, people from the Lost City of Atlantis, Hindus, or the Lost Tribes of Israel when
it actually turned out to be the Adena Native Americans who did this (O Riley 315).Due to none of the
other Native Americans in the area doing this type of work, it was always thought that an outside
group had done this. However, in the nineteenth century, it became clear that the Native Americans
had done this. An example of a piece that was hard for architects to determine who the piece was
made by was the human effigy pipe (O Riley 315 316). This pipe was dug up out of the mounds
before they had realized that the Native Americans had built the mounds and it led architects to
believing that one of the other groups had made the piece. They were eventually able to figure out that
the Native Americans had made the piece

B. GSM Modem
A GSM modem is a wireless modem that works with a GSM wireless network. A wireless modem
behaves like a dial up modem. The main difference between them is that a dial up modem sends and
receives data through a fixed telephone line while a wireless modem sends and receives data through
radio waves. Like a GSM mobile phone, a GSM modem requires a SIM card from a wireless carrier in
order to operate.
Generally, computers use AT commands to control modems. Reading of message from the SIM card
inserted into the modem is done by sending the appropriate AT command to the modem.
In addition to the standard AT commands, GSM modems support an extended set of AT commands.
These extended AT commands are defined in the GSM standards. Some common basic SMS related
AT Commands are shown in table below:

C. Display Unit
One of the most common devices attached to an 8051 is an LCD display. Here we have used 16x2 that
means 2 rows and 16 characters. It is a Hitachi HD44780 compatible module, having 16 pins
including 2 pins for backlight.
To program the LCD module, first we have to initialize the LCD by sending some control words. RS
should be low and E should be high when we send control. R/W pin 0 mean write data or control to
LCD and R/W pin 1 means read data from the LCD. To send a data to LCD, make RS high, R/W low,

Ray from her mother, but I have never seen him in person. Deborah told me all about him. Then when Lily told me that she killed her mother, I couldn t imagine dealing with that for the rest of her life. I told her that I love her and everyone loves her, just as much as her mother loved her. Her mother loved everyone. I gave Deborah a picture of black Mary a little bit before she died, and that is how Lily found us. She looked through her photo album. That is where Deborah kept all of her things. • 3. Comparison Of Mariam In A Thousand Splendid Suns In the story A Thousand Splendid Suns , we follow the life of two different girls, Mariam and Laila. They both lead two very different lives that spiral into two entirely different directions. They had different education, different influences throughout their lives, and One important difference between the two girls lives is their education. In the book, education is a big theme in this story, especially surrounding these two characters. Thanks to the soviets, Laila was able to go to a school and learn, something that was only privileged for men and boys. Mariam on the other hand, was poor and considered illegitimate and not able to attend school like she wanted. In the book, Laila states Babi had made it clear to Laila from a young age that the most important thing in his life, after safety, was her schooling. Laila s father, Babi, had always valued education. He had made sure Laila got the most out of her chance at education while she could before it was taken from her. After all, he had firmly believed that women could and should do what man can do as well. Mariam s mother, Nana, never allowed her to go to school or bothered educating her. She said how horrible school was and how learning was a waste of time. Though Mariam didn t see it this way, this was her mother s way of protecting her from having the same bad experiences as she had. Her intentions were good, but this only drove Mariam further away from her. Another important difference between the two girls ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Origin Of Smart City Movement As the world experiences rapid advancement, the continuing population growth and urbanization are inevitable. More population are now live in urban areas than the rural areas. 54 % of the world s population are residing in urban areas in 2014. It forecast increase to 66 percent or an addition of 2.5 billion people in 2050 (United Nation, 2014). With this continuing of urbanization, the cities indicate a suffer on its fundamental functionalities to services citizens as a liveable place (Borja, 2007; Toppeta, 2010). This rapid transition raises the need in integrated policies to improve lives (United Nation, 2014). This gives birth of the new urban development concept leveraging new innovation introduced in the cities (Nam and Pardo, 2011). The origin of Smart City movement is dated back since late 1990 s (Bollier, 1998). The term has been adopted and advocated by many technologies services companies such as IBM (2009) and Cisco (2005). It was a promotion of the integration of information systems into urban infrastructure and services (Harrison and Donnelly, 2011). This is a result of globalization and diffusion of technologies; cities growth process has been influenced greatly by these two factors. Information communication technology (ICT) is now playing an important role in governance and management of the cities in various sectors e.g. government services, transport and traffic management, energy, health care, water, innovative urban agriculture and waste management ... • 5. Queen Margaret Curses, And Evil In William Shakespeare s... Queen Margaret curses King Richard, as well as his allies in William Shakespeare s play, Richard III, and her damnations of these characters are accurate. Shakespeare wrote Margaret to be a prophet who is omniscient of the other character s fates. Margaret s cursing of Richard and his allies is an expression of rage, as well as a form of vigilante justice. While Margret s anger appears more verbal than violent, she determines the doom of King Richard, as well as his accomplices, making her the most powerful character despite her relatively minor role in the play. Margaret s curses, once neglected by the royals whom she condemns, begin to come true. In act one, scene one, Margaret had warned the nobles to ... remember [her curses] another day, ... and say poor Margaret was a prophetess. The effect of her curses is noticed by Grey, who says to Rivers and Vaughn in act three, scene three, that he believes that Queen Margaret s earlier grievances have fall n upon [their] heads. Grey is aware that Margaret had foreseen, or even caused his fate, as he says upon his death. While Margaret personally convicts Richard from as early in the play as act one, scene three, she cannot get many others to believe her, and she cannot personally bring Richard to justice; her only release of anger or vengeance is spitting curses at Richard, and at anyone who dares to neglect her warnings. The imbalance in power between Richard and his accomplices, who are all noble males, and Margaret, a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Different Types Of Mood Disorders Introduction In my term paper I will be discussing the different types of mood disorders, the two types of disorders that will be covered in this paper is depressive and bipolar disorder. I will be talking about the signs and symptoms, known causes and factors that contribute, current researches that have been conducted on the disorders, and also the diagnosis and treatments. Bipolar Disorders If you have a mood d367isorder your emotion or mood is changed by the outcome of an event or an action by another person. (Diseases and Conditions: Mood Disorders , n.d.) The first type that I m going to discuss is bipolar disorder, which is a brain illness that causes your mood, energy, and your ability to perform tasks on a daily basis to shift. There are at least four different types of bipolar disorders, all four of these types cause your mood to shift, they just all have different behaviors, one type is called manic episodes, which is a very hyper active behavior, and another type is depressive episode, which is when a person is at their lowest of lows, and they all last for different variations of times. Bipolar I Disorder is one type; the manic episode can last seven days or more or the episode could be so bad that the person needs hospital care. Depressive episodes last at least two weeks, and the person could have both episodes at the same time. Bipolar II Disorder is the second type, it is a pattern of depressive and hypomanic, which is not as bad as manic episodes. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Analysis Of Child s Responses And Mathematical Thinking Section A: Analysis of Child s Responses and Mathematical Thinking Simpler Counting Tasks/More or Less/Conservation In the simpler counting section, Kerget was able to count the correct number of teddies one by one by saying the corresponding number words out. This shows that Kerget could divide objects with the same attribute into one collection and is able to count small collections using the one to one correspondence counting knowledge. Lovin, Karp, Bay Williams and Van de Walle (2013) maintain that children develop the concept of one to one correspondence when they count objects by paring one number word with exactly one object. When he finished counting the four yellow teddies, he turned to the green ones, starting from number one instead of number five. He successfully identified which collections had more teddies. This further indicates that Kerget understands the idea of collection and has the beginning knowledge of the concepts of more and less . Children s understanding of the meanings and relationships of more , less , and same is the fundamental attribute to their number sense development (Lovin, Karp, Bay Williams, Van de Walle, 2013). Kerget used the one to one correspondence knowledge to put out five teddies and stopped when he said: five, there are five teddies. He understands that the last number word he said is the total number of the objects he has been counted. This tells me he understands the concept of cardinality. Lovin, Karp, ... • 8. Presidential Election Of The United States After almost two years on the campaign trail, the United States of America has finally elected its new president, Donald Trump. No that is not a typo, this is real life. It was a hard fought battle between Hillary Clinton and the Donald which ultimately lead to one of the most shocking upsets in recent American politics. Being that the odds were heavily stacked against Trump as poll after poll predicted Clinton be the victor, it was to the astonishment of many that he reigned victorious during this 2016 presidential election cycle. Be it the will of the country (or in this case electoral college ) this poisonous cheeto will now be the 45th president of the United States. So how did this happen, what was it about Trump that pushed voter behavior in his favor in many key battleground states? Trumps victory lies in the hands of the silent majority who at this point were dying for change and saw it within the republican nominee. The biggest contributing factor to Trump s win on November 8 was retrospective voting which a lot of voters clearly engaged in this election cycle. When making the decision of who to vote for during an election, voters often tend to start looking within at their own situation before throwing their support at a candidate. Questioning whether ones is better off now than they were before the previous election is known as retrospective voting. • 11. The Personality Characteristics Of Personality The notion of personality can be defined as a specific set of organised characteristics that influence a person s everyday actions. These actions are guided by different motives and cognitive processes causing the large range of behaviours in a person. Each person s characteristics are unique and come together to create an individual personal identity (Burger, 2011). Therefore a personality is subjective to each individual person, it is these unique characteristics that make it so. Characteristics such as likes and dislikes, fear and strengths and weaknesses are what create the individual personality that is seen by others (D. Schultz and P. Schultz, 2005). It is an important endeavour to discern where these characteristics are derived from, the question whether or not a personality is the product of free will has many relevant explorations. Free will in personality would suggest that a person has a free choice over how their aforementioned personality characteristics may turn out (Maslow, 1943). This idea that a person can determine their personality through a series of life choices directly contravenes the idea of a pre determined personality that is shaped by biology and life events, called determinism (Skinner, 1957). Determinism is championed by Sigmund Freud in his psychodynamic theory (Freud, 1912), although it will not be the focus of this essay, despite Freud s theories constituting as part of the main crux of the latter part. Some Indians left swiftly, while others were forced to to leave by the United States Army. Some were even taken away in chains. Andrew Jackson, the seventh president of the United States, strongly reinforced this act. In the Second State of the Union Address, Jackson advocated his Indian Policy. There was controversy as to whether the removal of the Native Americans was justified under the administration of President Andrew Jackson. Jackson tried to make the trade seem peaceful and reasonable, but there is nothing sane about the Trail of Tears. The consequence of a speedy removal will be important to the United States, and to the Indians themselves (91). If Jackson really cared about our well being, like he claimed, why would he allow the horrific Trail of Tears to persist? This exhibits Jackson s insincerity and disregard for the inhuman conditions my ancestors had endure. A main argument Andrew Jackson had was that the Indian Removal Act was only a continuation of a change that was already happened, The present policy of the government is but a continuation of the same progressive change by a milder process (93). • 13. Analysis Of Lies My Teacher Told Me For when textbook authors leave out the warts, the problems, the unfortunate character traits, and the mistaken ideas, they reduce heroes from dramatic men and women to melodramatic stick figures. Their inner struggles disappear and they become goody goody, not just merely good. (Loewen, pg. 29). Lies My Teacher Told Me is a non fiction book written by author, American sociologist, and historian, James W. Loewen. The popular belief is that schools buy the textbook that best fits the curriculum, and by following these textbooks, students are learning to the best of their ability. However, Loewen challenges this belief by providing evidence from eighteen different American history textbooks. He believes that people in history should not be depicted as heroes when they simply are not. To continue, Loewen states that students find history to be so boring since they can not relate to it or the people in it. On page 354, he even concludes his book by stating, Students will start finding history interesting when their teachers and textbook stop lying to them. There are three great taboos in textbook publishing... sex, religion, and social class. (Loewen, pg. 27). This quote from the book demonstrates that textbooks only touch upon what their authors believe students should be learning about, or in other words, the less interesting, same timeworn stories they all mostly have already learned about. History textbooks lie to students by leaving out important details about key events and significant people. Loewen s purpose in writing this book was to prove exactly that to students, and to provide them with the truth. Throughout the entire book, he decides to write about people that students are taught to consider heroes, such as; Hellen Keller, Woodrow Wilson, Christopher Columbus, and numerous more. Loewen succeeded in exposing people American s think of as heroes for whom they actually are, and also prospered in exposing textbooks by providing the truth behind the stories students are all taught. Eleven chapters have shown that textbooks supply irrelevant and even erroneous details, while omitting pivotal questions and facts in their treatments of issues... (Loewen, pg. 301). A clear example is the incident with the spiders, where he angers them by calling them offensive names in order to give the dwarves a chance to escape. Despite all these differences, Bilbo is still accepted as a hero in today s society and does share some traits with the classic hero. One of the reasons I believe he is accepted in today s society is because he is easy to relate to, demonstrating pleasure in his domestic lifestyle, but at the same time, possessing a natural curiosity and a desire to enjoy the occasional adventure outside his comfort zone. The Rivalry Between Boeing and Airbus Essay The Rivalry Between Boeing and Airbus The rivalry between Boeing and Airbus goes back a long way, when Boeing was by far the dominant supplier of commercial airplanes. Up until 1997, Boeing was the clear market leader on the passenger airplane market. Now the situation is less certain, as Airbus has overtaken its American competitor[1] not only in the domestic market but also in the world market, with its introduction of new models of passenger aircrafts. The main issue addressed in this article is that a 1992 U.S. EU civilian aircraft pact allows too much European government support for Airbus, helping it sell more jetliners than Boeing, which had an 80% share in the market a decade ago. Hence, although the domestic price will remain unchanged, the domestic production of Airbus will increase to Q3. Therefore there has been a transfer in the quantity supplied from imports to domestic producers, which is marked by the region Q3 Q1. The protectionist measures have not only helped Airbus to establish itself and gain a comparative advantage through increased production, but it has also helped to increase employment, which leads to an increase in the standard of living of the citizens and thus lead to economic growth in the E.U. Since 1997 Airbus has had several advantages in the production of aircrafts. Since their goods are still being subsidized, Airbus has expanded its sales from the home market to the overseas market. Thus, their quality products and subsidies together would enable them to resort to dumping (selling exports below their marginal costs of production) their products into the world market, at the cost of their main competitor Boeing. Another reason why SOLs are bad is because they give only a small amount of time to study everything you have learned all year. One other reason is you have to take a bunch of test before the SOL to see how you might do on the test. These reasons are why I am going to convince you that SOLs should be banned. For starters, let s face it SOLs cause so much stress on the teachers and the students. There is a lot of stress and anxiety during the entire school year to make sure students are even ready to take these tests. The stress these cause can really make a student feel like they are not smart and not fitting in. This is because students have to answer trick questions that are different than the kind they have to answer is class. Also, because the SOLs are long and boring which causes more anxiety because you see other students worry about it too. You also get stressed when some people are already finished before you. This provides the starting point for language from the age of 12 months on. So children ļ¬rst set up conceptual representations, then add linguistic representations for talking about experience (Denise Boyd, 2002). The ability to learn is one of the most exceptional human characteristics. Learning occurs continuously throughout a person s lifetime. To define learning, it is necessary to analyze what happens to the individual. An individual s way of perceiving, thinking, feeling, and doing may change as a result of a learning experience. Hamlet Gender Roles Rebecca Nottke Dr. Lawson HUM 1010 42 Nov. 15th, 2017 Gender: Women, the Lesser Sex Throughout the Ages When one thinks of art and religion, one may think of gender role defiance and non conformism. While this may be generally true in present times, it was not always this way. Women and men have had distinctly different places in society, these places often being unequal. Generally most well known works throughout the ages have adhered to and represented what society regarded as the proper gender roles for men and women. This is represented in three works of art which will be discussed: Hamlet by William Shakespeare, The Courtier: Book 3 by Baldassare Castiglione, and Luncheon on the Grass by Eduoard Manet. While these three forms of art come from different times and are of different mediums, they are connected in that they follow and represent the gender roles of their time. Hamlet is regarded by many as Shakespeare s most well known work. A tragedy focused on revenge, this work awed the Elizabethan audience with its shocking themes and content. The play follows Hamlet, a prince who is fixated on avenging his father, who was murdered by Hamlet s uncle Claudius. Throughout the entirety of the play, Hamlet behaves erratically and irrationally, focused entirely on revenge. • 25. Desire In Thou Blind Man s Mark By Sir Philip Sidney In Sir Philip Sidney s sonnet, Thou Blind Man s Mark, the speaker describes his personal experience with the vice of desire. Buy expressing the abstract and hazardous nature of desire it becomes evident that the speaker acknowledges both his disdain for the subject and his struggle to overcome it. The initial quatrain builds the idea of the blind man s mark, known as desire, with the speaker presenting progressively derogatory comments about it. By addressing desire as the blind man s mark the speaker implies that those who succumb to it are unaware of themselves doing so, since blindness represents a lack of perception. Adding to this notion, the speaker continues to call desire fond fancy s scum, and dregs of scattered thought to engrain the fleeting an trite nature the subject possesses. This list of insults climaxes in the final line of the quatrain, where the speaker states that the ultimate danger of the convoluted web of will is its perpetuity, since its end is never wrought; because it spirals on without an individuals critically analyzing their actions. ... An example of a piece that was hard for architects to determine who the piece was made by was the human effigy pipe (O Riley 315 316). This pipe was dug up out of the mounds before they had realized that the Native Americans had built the mounds and it led architects to believing that one of the other groups had made the piece. They were eventually able to figure out that the Native Americans had made the piece ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Multiuser Sms Based Wireless Electronic Notice Board Multiuser SMS Based Wireless Electronic Notice Board Abstract This is the model for displaying notices in colleges on electronic notice board by sending messages in form of SMS through mobile; it is a wireless transmission system which has very less errors and maintenance. The hardware board contains microcontroller AT89c52 at the heart of the system. The microcontroller is interfaced with GSM Modem via MAX232 level convertor. It is used to convert RS232 voltage levels to TTL voltage levels and vice versa. The hardware also has a 64K EEPROM chip AT24C64. This EEPROM is used to store the timings and messages to be displayed. Hardware also contains a real time clock DS1307 to maintain track of time. A 16x2 Character LCD display is ... The main difference between them is that a dial up modem sends and receives data through a fixed telephone line while a wireless modem sends and receives data through radio waves. Like a GSM mobile phone, a GSM modem requires a SIM card from a wireless carrier in order to operate. Generally, computers use AT commands to control modems. Reading of message from the SIM card inserted into the modem is done by sending the appropriate AT command to the modem. In addition to the standard AT commands, GSM modems support an extended set of AT commands. These extended AT commands are defined in the GSM standards. Some common basic SMS related AT Commands are shown in table below: [pic] Fig.2. AT Commands C. Display Unit One of the most common devices attached to an 8051 is an LCD display. Here we have used 16x2 that means 2 rows and 16 characters. It is a Hitachi HD44780 compatible module, having 16 pins including 2 pins for backlight. To program the LCD module, first we have to initialize the LCD by sending some control words. RS should be low and E should be high when we send control. R/W pin 0 mean write data or control to LCD and R/W pin 1 means read data from the LCD. To send a data to LCD, make RS high, R/W low, place ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
