3.  The first part of the meeting was student
recognition

Nay” vote and then the chairperson would
specify if the action was accepted or not

4.  WGMS SCA members presented the word of the
Month “Cooperation” with a video
 Principals of each school recognized students who
won spelling bee, raised most money for jump
rope for heart, won shamrock shuffle, won black
history contest
 David Baker discussed the financial situation of
FCPS
 Marcie Catlett discussed Summer School
 All presenters were credible, yet lacked
background information in what they discussed
(Baker and Catlett) so outsiders would be confused
to what they were discussing

were delayed
 Summer School Program- changed to take place at school the child would
be entering the next school year, June 24-July 23, minimum 4 hours a day

June 24-28, July 8-13 (Gov School)

6.  No one expressed differing views
 Some school board members asked follow up
questions, such as
 “Regional Gov School applications, through the
school counselor? (Holmes) Superintendent
answered that it comes through Superintendent
Memo which has not bee received yet
 “So 5th graders will go to Walker-Grant for
Summer School?” (Miller-Richards), Catlett
answered yes in order to get the students more
comfortable with teachers and location of where
they will be next year.

7.  Meeting seemed productive but it was hard to
follow along since they did not go into much
detail regarding what they were discussing
 They did get through a lot but seemed rush so
it did not last very long

8.  Most of the videos were shown via projector.
 There was the city’s TV channel there recording
the meeting to be broadcasted on the city’s TV
channel

9.  “School boards hold three type of meeting:
regular, special and executive. The first two are
usually open to the public. The third type,
usually closed to the public, deals with
personnel issues, acquisition of property or
problems related to individual students”
