Performer Improvement Targets
Introduction
• This task builds on your Task 2 work.
• You need to test your four identified
weaknesses. The testing process should use
standardised or bespoke tests.
• From this testing your results will identify two
priority areas for improvement.
• Your eight week training plan will focus on
these two priority areas only.

believe there strengths are and I will compare this to there athlete
profiling to see what they believe they are good at and what they
believe they aren't and I can see how well the athlete knows there
strengths.

This is a series of 10 questions which are yes/no answers and it gives
basic questions of the opposition and the more the athlete answers
with a yes then the better he is at knowing his opposition.

First I will need to see the tactics that are used by the coach. After
this I will have to go and see how they play during the game by
watching some matches and score them out of 10 to see how well
they follow the tactics in the game.

Measurable I will be measuring the amount of distance that Alice runs within 12
minutes.
Agreed Upon This is agreed upon as I have the facilities needed for her to be able to
do this as we have the Worthing leisure centre to do this and Alice
has agreed to do it.
Realistic It is realistic as I will be able to take Alice to the places that she needs
to be at to be able to reach her target.

Improvement Target 1 – Justification

• Why is this target needed?
• What will be the performance benefit to the
performer (e.g. team selection, injury
prevention and representative honours)?
• What will be the performance benefit to the
performers team(s) (e.g. unit, attack, defence
and whole team benefits)?
Student Justification 1
The targets are needed because it gives objectives for Alice to try and reach
and without them there may not be an incentive to try and improve and it is
important for her to improve her aerobic endurance so this is the perfect
target for her to try and reach as it will improve her game when she is back on
the rugby field.
The benefit to her will be that she is able to be in the starting XI and play the
whole match so she wont have to come off from being worn out as she will be
a lot more fit and wont need to be replaced by other team-mates. She will be
less likely to be injured as well as she will be more able to go on for longer so
she wont be overdoing it if she is made to play longer which is a possible risk
to injury but with her aerobic endurance being better she wont be overdoing
herself as she will be able to keep going.
The performance benefit will be that she is able to give her team a better
advantage as she will be able to keep going through the whole match and give
the team a better edge then it did before as she would be able to give it her
all and a better performance for longer.

Student Justification 2
This target is needed as it gives Alice an objective to try and reach and
without that there may not be an incentive to try and get to it, not
only this but Alice had this trait as her second worse so it is important
for her to improve this.
The benefit to Alice as a performer is that she will be able to do better
when she is playing as she will be able to use this trait to gain an
advantage on the opposition so she will be able to know if her
opposite is slow or fast and knows whether she should pass or take her
opposite on depending on her strengths and weaknesses.
The performance benefits to the team are that Alice wont be making
as many mistakes in game as she will know her opposition and what
they are good and bad at so she will minimise making a mistake which
can cost the team possession as she will have gained a better
advantage to be able to help the team out more attacking giving there
team an overall better performance.
