Language is a structured and shared form of communication like spoken and written words, figures, characters, and gestures, or a combination of these.
Language is a structured and shared form of communication like spoken and written words, figures, characters, and gestures, or a combination of these. Language includes rules that dictate word order, tense, social use, and these apply differently depending on the culture in which the language is used. As with other forms of communication, language depends on shared meaning and an increasingly complex understanding of the associated rules and structures. As language is learned, receptive language skills, listening and reading) are almost always stronger and more developed than productive counterpart skills (speaking and writing).

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

2. Second language acquisition: Process of
learning a language by an individual who
has mastered a mother tongue or native
language.
To
learn a language successfully it is
necessary: to implement real and direct
interactions with others , expressing our
messages clearly and making sure we
understand who is listening.
At the same time: The partner or partners let
us know directly or indirectly if we are being
understood or not.
3. ADQUISITION AND LEARNING
Acquisition: Developing gradually the
ability to speak a foreign language
naturally
Learning: Conscious process of
accumulating knowledge
Barriers to the acquisition of the new language
-Time
-Adaptation to new sounds
4. -Listening: Interpretative action taken by
the listener in order to understand and
potentially make meaning out of the
sound waves.
-Speaking: complex cognitive process
(Listening plays an important role).
5. -Reading: Cognitive process of decoding
symbols to derive meaning from text (as
in reading a book or reading music).
Is necessary to select appropiate texts
according to the students age and
interests.
Activities: Simulations and role plays,
storytelling, oral games (guess who),
songs, etc.
6. -Writing: Medium of communication that
represents
language
through
the
inscription of signs and symbols. Useful
communication channel.
It will be easier if they have to write
about something important for them
such a letter to Santa Claus.
