Follow the Leader Essay
Follow the Leader
Leadership is a term that cannot easily be defined. According to Ben Silverstein, author of
"Managing People: Secrets to Leading for New Managers" being a leader is not a right, it is a
privilege, bestowed by those you lead. (Silverstein 2009, pg. 115) In order to lead there must be
people willing to follow. The privilege of being a leader is earned based upon choices and actions.
Leadership truly is a way of life for the leader and to those that choose to follow.
There are many opportunities for a person to follow a leader. They are found at home, at school, in
churches, in education, in businesses, in communities and in the government. There are good leaders
and bad leaders. Samuel C. Certo, author of Supervision: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Teachers who inspire students to want to learn the material are most effective.
Successful businesses demonstrate positive leadership through their contributions to society and the
communities where they operate. They do this by exercising social responsibility, being supportive
in the success of their community by hosting projects and fundraisers for local charities and
sponsoring local events. They can offer the community internship opportunities for students at
schools. Internal to business operations leaders can be found in employees ranking from the bottom
to the top. This is not a title, it is a demonstration of personal accountability and responsibility.
Another opportunity for leadership can be found at home and in churches. Students begin their
learning at home from a parent or guardian. This person or people provide the first available
moment for a child to witness leadership. The choices parents and guardians make influences the
children they have in a major way. If a parent decides to use drugs and lead that type of a lifestyle,
this will have a great impact on the child. The child can either decide that this is not a life he or she
would choose to lead or the child will think this life is normal and follow in their leaders footsteps.
A parent or guardian can choose to raise their child with the guidance of a pastor and a church.
Every choice that a guardian makes for their child, impacts that child greatly – either

David Robert Mitchell's It Follows
In It Follows, director David Robert Mitchell combines the tale of ordinary adolescents coming to
age with a shapeshifting antagonist, as he masterfully blends the paradoxical topics of youthful,
romantic realism and paranormal horror. While more subtle than the stereotypical "slasher" horror
film, exploring loftier themes such as existentialism, sexual socialization, mortality, and sexual
morality, it never strays from its main purpose: bringing fear and terror to the audience. Mitchell
uses a number of ambitious and creative techniques to navigate this movie of contrast, none more
prevalent or important than his use of diegetic and non–diegetic sound. The natural sound, sound
effects, and music set the tone and mood of It Follows from beginning ... Show more content on

Not only is there a conflicting dissonance between the diegetic and non–diegetic sound as discussed
previously, this element is equally present within the incidental music itself. Quite frequently a
single beat or rhythm is introduced and subsequently grouped with differing, often incongruent
beats, sound effects, noises, and tones. Combining a huge assortment of audio techniques, varying
greatly in style, tone, and tempo, the background score is erratic and unpredictable and it injects the
film with a volatile, unrelenting feel. Futuristic melodies, distorted and muffled noise, screeching
static sounds, pulsating beats, siren–like music, pounding, banging, grating, and soft, echoing tunes
are all combined and jumbled together at different times, never letting the audience get comfortable
with anything it hears. This effect is amplified by suddenly starting and stopping, changing speeds,
and alternating levels of volume to the already perplexing and unnerving soundtrack. These
strategies, much like the foreboding antagonist, constantly remind the audience of the looming,
impending doom the characters face, even in the safest of settings and in the most mundane

Cinematography Cinematography deals with the making of a movie. In the film, It Follows, the
frame and camera movement help to direct the audience's attention, shape the audience's feelings
about the mise–en–scene, and to reveal the theme of the film. In the film, It Follows, the
cinematography tries to direct the audience's attention to the "it." This is a very important aspect to
the film. The cinematography is able to successfully direct the audience's attention b y the
movement of the camera. Throughout the film, the camera will pan completely around the screen in
order to let the audience know where the "it" is in relation to the character that is being followed.
Jay, the girl who is being followed, is not always aware of the "it's" location, but it is important for
the audience to understand just how close it is creeping up. The cinematography gives the audience
this knowledge. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

ends up dead, The audience is confused about what is happening and this is because the
cinematography does not allow the audience to see "it" following the girl. However, for the rest of
the film, the audience is aware and is able to understand why Jay is so scared for her

Form Follows Function Essay
Louis Henry Sullivan was the architect that created and promoted the paramount precept to 19th
century architectural design, 'form follows function.' The idea behind the design philosophy was
that, "structural and aesthetic considerations should be entirely subject to functionality it was met
with both approval and scepticism." (Boundless, 2017) Modern architecture is commonly defined by
its simplification of form. Early modern architecture began in the 20th century, with attempts to
integrate, "the principles underlying architectural design with rapid technological advancement and
the modernization of society." (Boundless, 2017)
The Industrial Revolution promoted the benefit of steel and plate glass, along with mass produced

(Architect.architecture.sk, 2017) A Function needs a form in order to complete its objective. A form
without its function is just a good looking design on a piece of paper. Once a designer understands
the function of the piece, the additional parameters and the limitations created by the function, the
designer can then construct a form that supports the function, whilst acknowledging the principles of
design. The idea that 'form follows function' is an original idea that is applied to architecture that
states that the shape of a structure is governed by its function. Indeed, until recently, 'form follows
function' was practiced in the work of modern architecture, but soon began being applied to the
design of products that we use in our everyday lives, industrial design. In 'What is Form Follows
Function,' John Spacey writes that, "The principle is considered the driving principle of modern
architecture and is often applied in other areas of design such as product design." (Spacey, 2017)
The design philosophy that 'form follows function' is evident and supported in both modernist
architecture, The Wainwright Building, designed by Louis Henry Sullivan himself and 20th century

The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success Essay
The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success Following the Seven Spiritual Laws of Success has made me
the person that I am today. The laws that we have followed have been the Law of Pure Potentiality,
the Law of Giving, the Law of Karma or Cause and Effect, the Law of Least Effort, the Law of
Intention and Desire, the Law of Detachment, and the Law of Dharma or Purpose in Life. These
laws have taught me that success is not a destination it is a journey. They have taught me that true
success is the unfolding of the divinity within us. And following these steps has helped me to find

It makes me see how simple life really is. The third step in the Law of Pure Potentiality was the
most difficult to obey, it still is extremely difficult for me. All my life for some reason I have been
judgmental, I always made comments on others clothes or their demeanor. Not always in a negative
way, usually I am just stating things that I have noticed. It is like second nature to me especially
because my family and friends are the same way. After learning about this law and discussing it I
noticed how much I actually do it. Everyday I catch myself going to make comments. I usually I
stop myself before I speak, I do not always though. It is very difficult for me, it upsets me a lot when
I am judgmental. I have gotten much better than I was. I notice how I am not judging where in the
past I normally would. The Law of Giving steps are not as difficult for me to follow as the Law of
Pure Potentiality. The first step is the hardest for me. I do not always remember to bring a gift
wherever I go, and sometimes I feel like it is inappropriate, that others will think that I am weird.
Like when I am going to someone that I do not know that well's house for a short time, and when I
go to my boyfriends' house because I go there so often I think they would think it was strange that I
was always bringing gifts. Although, when I go to friends houses for dinner or for overnight I do
bring a gift, like cookies, chips, or soda. Something

Dental Patient Follow Up
Studies indicate that between 50 percent to nearly 80 percent of patients do not adhere to the
services recommended by the American Dental Association; additionally, approximately 50 percent
of patients are lost due to lack of follow–up. Dental patient follow–up is essential, but phone calls
may not be enough anymore If you want to expand your practice, you need to offer your patients
exceptional, individualized care; to accomplish this task, an effective follow up program is vital.
Without such a program, contacting the patient may falter. Connecting with your patients can be
challenging because the patients of today are always on the go. An inability to communicate with
your patient could lead to missed opportunities and, in some cases, the loss of a patient. If your
patients do not feel valued, they may seek another dental professional who will. Patients visiting

Follow Classroom Procedures
Kindergarten classrooms will run efficiently when students follow procedures and rules. When the
students choose to follow them they will get rewarded or pay the consequence. When all of the
students are following the rules there will be less interruptions. Procedures, rules, and a reward
system allows more time for conductive learning. In everyday routines, "children have to suppress
undesirable behaviors in order to follow their caregivers' requests" (Kopp, 1982, p. 208).
Procedures
According to Firman, Beare, and Loyd (n.d) procedures are important for "self–management to
increase students' time–on–task as well as other academic and behaviors" (p. 163). The first

The Truth Behind The Underground Railroad
The Truth behind the Underground Railroad

2nd Period Abstract Many people know of the famous slave system called The Underground
Railroad. Throughout this generations time in school this topic have came up numerous times in our
history classes. They mostly talk about the surface of the system and how, the most famous
conductor, Harriett Tubman freed the slaves. This essay is important because it will provide you
with in depth knowledge and background about the The Underground Railroad.
The Truth Behind the Underground Railroad The Underground Railroad is one the most Historic
events in African American History. This "system" was during the time of slavery and its goal was
to provide slaves an undetectable way to get to the North. A majority of blacks and few whites
called "Conductors", referring to a train, helped blacks plan and travel through different landscapes
to reach the North. In my Research paper I will provide information on the Influential people in the
movement, the obstacles they had to overcome, and the results of the movement.
Influential People during the Movement
Thomas Garrett Thomas Garrett was one the few white Conductors who was recognized for his
work with the Railroad. Mr. Garrett was a Quaker Abolitionist who was at the end of the journey to
send African–Americans over the "free" Pennsylvania border. Throughout his time fighting for the

Summary Of The Gold Threaded Dress
The Gold Threaded Dress Carolyn Marsden's book, The Gold Threaded Dress, follows the life of a
young Thai girl named Oy as her family is forced to move neighborhoods because of the cheaper
rent – placing Oy at an entirely new school. She feels like an outsider at this new school because
there is nobody that looks like her and she is constantly reminded of that because her peers mock her
ethnicity daily. She wants nothing more than to fit in with the popular girls at their "clubhouse." She
gets that opportunity one day when a picture of her wearing a ceremonial silk dress with gold
embroidery falls out of her backpack. The leader of the clubhouse, Liliandra, picks up the picture
and notes how Oy looked like a princess and tells Oy that she can be in the clubhouse if she brings
the dress to school so some of the other girls can try it on. Oy is hesitant at first, and even turns
down the offer, but after imagining what it would be like to be in a friend group – and a popular one
at that – Oy reluctantly agrees. The girls are not gentle with the dress and are each rushing to get it
on all with Oy being a bystander as she hears rip after rip. After getting outed by the principal, Oy
heads home thinking about how her mother, Kun Mere, will react. Luckily Mere understands, and
with Oy's help, they are able to fix the dress. I believe that this book is a good representation of a
multicultural text when basing it off Professor Boyd's qualities. The book was written in the year

several. Some you may agree or disagree with. In todays, workforce workplace policies are

Form Should Follow Function The history of design can teach contemporary designers about the
achievements and mistakes of the past. Such examinations of history show that lessons can be
learned from the varying disciplines focused on the forms and functions of designs; where different
designers take different standings on what is the appropriate form for the desired function. Burkey
Belser, an information designer, discusses contemporary design, and that "The mirror has shattered

I took a new approach with this project, where I thought about what type of room I was making the
shade for, as a person will have different lighting needs for each room, and shades should vary based
on that purpose. Many of the designs I saw were similar in their shape, but it was the decoration that
varied. I took a bedroom light–shade as my challenge, where I wanted to make a shade that could
create a soft light, where the light would not shine directly down, but rather flow to the ceiling and
around. The shape itself was quite simple; a truncated cone which would hang from the ceiling, with
a smaller cone placed inside. The idea was that the majority of the light would reflect back towards
the ceiling, where it could fill the room, while a small amount would come through the small gap
between the cones. With this project, I made a similar task for myself, to make a Christmas–themed
lantern. This was to explore the possible functions of lighting and lamp shades, as well as how form
follows function, so while my plan was to create a decorative lantern with a Christmas–look; it
wasn't difficult for the form to create itself. I sketched a 'winter village' on some card with a black
pen for the shade, many pin sized holes were made in specific locations to highlight the drawing,
and it was then made to a cylinder where I made a cap to block the light. The light

Follow Driving Rules
Driving a car is a huge responsibility. The driver has to learn to adjust to certain scenarios. Such as
when they are speeding they need to slow down and follow the speed limit. Always follow the rules
that are given, so nothing bad happens. This quite similar to dating. Because if the rules are not
followed it could cause some serious consequences. For my future children I plan to give them rules
to keep them safe and responsible when dating. The first rule that I will have for my kids is nobody
will be allowed in a bedroom with the door close, for a variety of reasons. I would not like the
thought of two teenagers in a room alone and with no supervision. They should be visible at all
times, so if the door was glass that that would be fine with me. Another reason is the bed. I
understand that everyone that has children must trust their children, in addition to I strongly believe
parents will plan for the worst no matter how much they trust their kid. I will not want my child to
get anyone pregnant/be pregnant so to prevent such events they will not be allowed in a bedroom
with the door closed also will have to be visible at all times. ... Show more content on

Follow Filial Piety In Confucianism
In the teachings of Confucius, there are concepts ranging from jūnzǐ to zhì, but the two key
teachings that are predominant in both Analects and Menzi readings are lǐ and xiào. Lǐ refers to
having certain rules to follow for proper behavior, while xiào refers to practicing filial piety with in
ones family, friends, and ruler. Furthermore, an example that shows lǐ is shown in Book Ten of the
Analects, showing how proper behavior has to be altered depending on the situation that one is in
(Ivanhoe: 27). Proper behavior has to be shown at all times, but there are distinct situations where
more respectful behavior is required. Overall, having rules for proper behavior keeps order within
Confucius families, rulers and essentially the universe. Having this proper behavior not only shows
respect for others, but it also shows how knowledgeable one is (Ivanhoe: 27).
Additionally, xiào is shown in the Analects by the way in which Book seventeen represents it.
Analect 17.9 does not specifically talk about how to follow filial piety, but it provides an example
on how education will teach you how to follow filial piety (Ivanhoe: 44). Following filial piety in
Confucianism also keeps order in society, by assuring the people to respect their elders. This also
shows how everything is connected back to the family. Ancestors are very important with in the ...

My Best Days Of My Life
Wednesday, December 16th, or as I like to call it, one of the best days of my life. Is it cliché to call
my first concert experience one of the best days of my life? Probably. But it was just such a surreal
experience. I went to go see The 1975 at Club Nokia in Los Angeles, California. My best friend
knew that I had never been to a concert before, so on my Birthday she gave me tickets to go see The
1975 as a gift. I had been looking forward to the concert for months, and when the day finally came,
I felt both nervous and excited to go see one of my favorite bands. The 1975 is an alternative
rock/indie rock/pop music band who I had heard of due to another band that decided to cover one of

Essay Follow the River
Follow the River Follow The River by James Alexander Thom is about Mary Ingles gruesome but
yet courageous tale of her remarkable 1,000 mile journey home after she had escaped form the
captivity of the Shawnee Indians. Through Mary Ingles hard work and determination she proved that
all obstacles big and small can be overcome.
The book started out with a bloody massacre at Mary Ingles Virginia settlement in 1755. Mary
Ingles was pregnant with her third child and twenty–four years of age when the Shawnee Indians
came and kidnapped her, her two sons, her sister–in–law, and her neighbor. The journey to the
Shawnee village lasted five weeks in the Virginia wilderness, and once the captives arrived at the
village they were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The two courageous women walked through freezing rivers and climbed up small cliffs for forty
days, with hardly nothing to eat since everything was barren because of the winter, overall the two
women walked 1,000 miles. Finally Mary was able to find her husband, but after thirteen years she
was able to ransom for only one of her sons back and her sister–in–law, the other two children were
kept by the Shawnee.
Follow the River had a lot of dialogue leaving the reader with the feeling that they were battling the
Virginia wilderness right along with Mary Ingles. James Alexander Thom used vivid description on
everything that he wrote, he painted the picture for the reader with a myriad of words, and he left no
leaf undescribed in the Virginia wilderness. The only thing that seemed confusing about this book is
that the reader can never figure out where Mary Ingles is , it would help a lot if a map was placed
somewhere in the book showing the trail of Mary and her companion.
James Alexander Thom did seem a little bias in his book. He would call The Shawnee Indians
heathens, he always just looked at the English point of view and never the Indians point of view,
because at this time the reader should be informed that the Indians are being forced to be moved
from place to place by the white man, but I don't believe that the authors intent was to give the
Shawnee Indians a bad name he just wanted to get the point across that some young pioneer

Reasons To Follow Immigration Laws
Recently President Trump, the 45th President of the United States, has acted to follow the current
Immigrations Laws, set out by the United States Congress, by ending former President Obams
Executive Action order which was designed to supersede the law and provide amnesty for illegal
immigrants. I support this position for several reasons, one being that we must have laws in the
country to follow, we must follow the order of the U.S. Constitution and we must not allow people
to unfairly cut in line because they have children. Our founding fathers set up many of our policies
from following the teachings of very smart philosophers of the past. One such philosopher, John
Locke stated, "The end of law is not to abolish or restrain, but to preserve

Follow-On Lab Report
The purpose of these series of experiment was successful as seen from the results. The recombinant
form of the green fluorescent protein was successfully expressed and purified from E. coli. Though a
high yield and purity were not obtained, the qualitative monitoring of the rGFP activity was
consistent with the quantitative values obtained. Qualitatively, the elution fraction E2 fluoresced the
most when placed under a hand–held UV lamp. Quantitatively, E2 also had the highest activity with
41900 RFUs when read by a fluorescent microplate reader. One way to increase the yield of rGFP
would be to increase the IPTG induction time. This would increase the amount of rGFP that is
expressed and consequently increase the amount of rGFP that is purified. There were other things
during the experiment such as contaminant proteins that could also have affected the yield of rGFP

GFP or rGFP has several unique characteristics which makes it a good research tool. rGFP is a small
protein that needs no cofactor for fluorescence and detection of this protein is also easy and

In this experiment, we expressed GFP in E. coli. As a follow–on experiment, we could express GFP
in other organisms and use that as a tag to investigate gene expression. GFP would be expressed in
three marine bacteria from a lac or npt–2 promoter (Stretton, Serina et al.). The bacterial strains
would then be tagged with GFP which enables the visualization and the monitoring of gene
expression in living cells (Stretton, Serina et

Follow-Through Radiography
A study was done by five attending and four resident radiologists, to compare radiological quality
and radiation dose using digital radiography (DR) and conventional screen film (SF) radiography in
an abdominal radiography. The study used eleven patients between the ages 18–27 to undergo a
Small Bowel Follow–Through (SBFT) examination. The examination included two radiography
images. For each examination, one of the radiographs was done using DR equipment and the other
was done using SF radiography. In order to create similar viewing conditions the DRs were printed

Follow-Up Assessment
During the spring semester of my junior year at Indiana State University, I had the opportunity to
tutor two second–grade students as part of my English as a Second Language (ESL) minor. These
students were motivated to learn and understand the material being taught. Upon being successful
on a follow–up assessment, the students no longer required services for English learning. I know
this was accomplished through a team effort of teachers, aides, tutors, and administration. It was a
great benefit to be a part of this noteworthy victory.
Having much success with these students, I was asked to stay to continue working with ESL
learners. I was introduced to a student needing tutoring and approached this situation as I did the
semester before.

Alice Calla Quotes
"Your cake is good," mumbles Alastair, pushing the remnants of Alice's supposedly tear–enhanced
cake around on his plate. "But so's yours," he says, nodding towards Calla.
The two women exchange an exasperated look. "Okay, Scott, whaddaya think?" Alice asks.
Scott chews thoughtfully. "Well, they're the exact same cake."
"But which one tastes better?" prods Calla.
"Neither." At Alice's raised eyebrow–– obviously something she learned from him–– he admits,
"Alice's cake is a bit salty."
"Yes, that would be because she put 'tears'––" Margaret makes exaggerated air–quotes, "––in her

Follow The Drinking Gourd Analysis
"Follow the Drinking Gourd" by H. B. Parks is one of the hundreds of slave spirituals. Slaves
worked long and demanding hours, faced physical punishments, lived in a crude one–room log
cabin with few furnishings, wear shabby clothing, were highly susceptible to deadly diseases, and
eat a diet with limited fresh foods (Nash 2017, 239). Their lives were burdensome. To help cope
with and make sense of their lives slaves came together to form a community with its own culture
distinct from that of their masters. A key element of this culture was spirituals. Spirituals not only
helped slaves understand their situation, but they also severed as a release from their suffering.

Foller the drinkin' gou'd (Bresler). The beginning of verse one states that slaves should escape
during the spring which is when the quail call. In Alabama where this spiritual originated this occurs
in early to mid–April (Harriet Tubman Historical Society). Another lyric in verse one is For the ole

conductor named Peg Leg Joe, a former sailor whose right leg was amputated, who aided runaway
slaves to reach the banks of the Ohio River by marking trees and other landmarks with either the
outline of a human left foot or a circle for a right foot (Bresler). Similarly, in verse two this spiritual
suggests that slaves follow the river and look for signs provided by nature. It states in verse two the

side of dead trees. Through this verse, Parks suggests that if the runaway, lost sight of the Big

making it sound like I need a large glass of water. I open my closet doors and scan over the contents
before picking out a pair of boots, a white, chunky sweater, a black scarf, and some thick jeans. With
a click, my door unlocks and swings open to reveal the bathroom door in front of me. The cold
hardwood floor makes my feet tingle whilst I cross into the even colder bathroom. Although the
room is cold, I feel warm inside with excitement while I change into my clothing and flash an
indeterminate smile at the mirror. A second click sounds when I open the door and head to the large
kitchen. I almost make it without any accidents only to break the streak by tripping on air and face
planting into the maroon colored wood. Mara, one of my two bratty kin, remarks, "Can you not go 5

Modernism In Form Follows Function, By Wilk Christopher
In this essay I am going to talk about one theme of Modernist, looking at the different views of
designers in two different books which are 'Form Follows Function' by Susan Lambert from 1993
and the second book is Modernism by Wilk Christopher.
The Modernist theme I had choose is 'Form Follows Function'. Form follows purpose, use is a sense
of right connected with modernist buildings and structure design and to do with industry design in
the 20th hundred. The general rule is that the form of a building or purpose should be primarily
based upon its person one is going to be married to group event or purpose.

Descriptive Essay : My First Day
First days are usually the best and sometimes the scariest, in some cases they turn out to be the worst
of days of a person's life. On our first days of doing something, we all have expectations; everyone
expects to have the best experience on his/her first day, but these expectations sometimes end up to
be the opposite of what we expected. Sometimes they turn out to be a mixture of both the best
moments and the worst. Similarly, I have a first day that I think will forever be in my mind; that is
my first at the zoo. After breaking for the winter holiday, my friends and I planned to visit the zoo
on the first weekend of our holiday. On the visiting day, we agreed to meet at the bus stop at exactly
7.30 am so we could departure at exactly 8.00 am. We decided to use a bus so we could make our
trip more fun and longer. Everyone was on time and that is how I discovered that my friends are
good timekeepers. We departed at the bus stop at exactly 8.00 am for a three–four–hour journey. On
our way, we sung funny songs to keep us busy, although some people had earphones on, but that
was not a problem to most of us as we all have different ways of killing time and having fun. In
about three and a half hours or so, we were at the zoo. By the time we arrived at the zoo, it was
almost 12 noon so we decided not to get started with the zoo tour but begun by playing some games
so we could pass time until after 1 pm. We played the rollercoaster, Mary–go–round and other rides.

Summary Of Cassia In Matched
In the book Matched by Ally Condie the main character Cassia changes drastically throughout the
novel. In the beginning of the novel Cassia has been just like everyone else and blindly following
the rules of the society. When she gets matched with her best friend she is so excited, but when she
sees another person on her microcard she slowly starts to see all the flaws of the society and what is
wrong with what they are teaching her. Cassia changes significantly and observably from the
beginning of the novel to the end. Before Cassia gets matched with Xander, she thought everything
in her society was perfect and that they always had everything under control. She always thought
she was safe and laughed at the idea of violence. When the cottonwood trees are being cut down and
the cotton seeds fly everywhere, everyone gets worried thinking it was snowing in June. When a
man tells them that they are tearing down the trees they all relax realizing that there was nothing
going wrong in their society once again. As Cassia thinks about the logic behind what the man said
she too is relieved and she says, "...thank goodness the Society has things under control as usual"
(Condie 28). This shows that she thinks that the society is always right and they always know what
is going on. Since she thinks she is so safe with the society she learns to just blindly follow what
they tell her to say or do and not think or have any free will of her own, but someone can only be

It Follows Film Analysis
The films, American Movie and It Follows, offers different aesthetics, because the two movies are
implementing a different message and want to be perceived differently to the viewers. American
Movie displays aesthetics of realism, such as direct addresses to the camera, on–camera interviews,
real mise–en–scene, and real people. It Follows is a more typical film that displays aesthetics of
formalism such as expressive sound, expressive cinematography, expressive mise–en–scene, and
performance capture. These two films are on completely different ends of the film spectrum, since
one is fictional horror film and the other is a non–fiction documentary, so they differ in the
aesthetics they use. The most obvious realism aesthetic is the direct address to the camera. The ...

Most horror films do create this to engage the audience and suggest feelings about what is
happening within the scene. Within the film they use expressive sounds and tones to create a feeling
of horror or suspense. When "It" is transferred to Annie the guy she slept with drops her off in front
of her house. He then speeds away in his car and the viewer hears the screeching of tires as he peels
out. The peeling out noise continues and his car leaves the screen, but a creepier and screeching
noise is implemented in the film to create a feeling of uneasiness. The purpose of this noise is to
express a feeling of discomfort to the viewers as Annie crawls her way back to her porch.
Obviously, this noise was created artificially and was edited in after the filming of the scene. The
film makers implemented and blended the sound of the car tires and the screeching noise to make a
continuous sound. This aesthetic would be seen within film of realism, since making artificial
sounds within the film would take away from a film such as American Movie. American Movie only

Why Is It Important To Follow Directions
Why is it important to follow directions? It is important to follow direction because if people didn't
follow directions, we would have a lot of raucous. The reason why we would have raucous is
because kids would have an even more high risk of doing drugs at really young ages and a more
higher risk of homeless people, more deaths from walking streets unintended, and more. The reason
it is important to follow directions is because for instance, if you walk across the street. If there's no
speed limit, red lights, stop signs, or anything, you would be seriously injured. Another reason
following rules is important is because if there was a man to have a weapon to put everyone lives in
danger. If the kid was to not pay attention to any of the drills given, he would be harmed or even
kidnapped. For example, that's what Mrs. Golden is always telling middle school students because
we don't follow directions, one day it will really happen and all of our lives will be put in danger. ...

Another reason to follow directions is when you are supposed to be quiet. For example, you could

Why People Follow
After completing the two readings, "Why People Follow" and "Salsa, Soul, and Spirit", I now have a
better understanding of leadership techniques that could strengthen communities as well as the
performance of companies. I wasn't very surprised when seeing the four needs of followers from
"Why People Follow": trust, compassion, hope, and stability. I thought that those were all
characteristics that were ideal to any strong and effective leader. Of the four, I felt the most surprise
with compassion. I didn't know how much being compassionate could have a lasting impact to those
that follow you. I thought before that leaders would focus more on instructing their workers rather
than give love to those that listen. I saw on the reading that those that have compassionate leaders

For example, in "Salsa, Soul, and Spirit", one of the eight communal policies was about leadership
as a social responsibility, the idea that all leaders should strive to bring equality and justice to
everyone, no matter what race or social status. I found that policy to align with the need of being
compassionate, seen in "Why People Follow". I feel that one needs to truly be caring for the
unfortunate before starting any equality programs. One shouldn't help out others just to get some
public fame. People need to understand the seriousness of income and racial inequality before
heading out and actually leading social responsibility. Another communal policy, generating a
shared vision, also aligns with the need of having hope. During both instances, you as a leader need
to have some direction going before you start leading. You and your partners need to trust
yourselves that you have the ability to move forward and inspire others. Believing that everybody

Follow The Leader Essay

  • 1. Follow the Leader Essay Follow the Leader Leadership is a term that cannot easily be defined. According to Ben Silverstein, author of "Managing People: Secrets to Leading for New Managers" being a leader is not a right, it is a privilege, bestowed by those you lead. (Silverstein 2009, pg. 115) In order to lead there must be people willing to follow. The privilege of being a leader is earned based upon choices and actions. Leadership truly is a way of life for the leader and to those that choose to follow. There are many opportunities for a person to follow a leader. They are found at home, at school, in churches, in education, in businesses, in communities and in the government. There are good leaders and bad leaders. Samuel C. Certo, author of Supervision: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Teachers who inspire students to want to learn the material are most effective. Successful businesses demonstrate positive leadership through their contributions to society and the communities where they operate. They do this by exercising social responsibility, being supportive in the success of their community by hosting projects and fundraisers for local charities and sponsoring local events. They can offer the community internship opportunities for students at schools. Internal to business operations leaders can be found in employees ranking from the bottom to the top. This is not a title, it is a demonstration of personal accountability and responsibility. Another opportunity for leadership can be found at home and in churches. Students begin their learning at home from a parent or guardian. This person or people provide the first available moment for a child to witness leadership. The choices parents and guardians make influences the children they have in a major way. If a parent decides to use drugs and lead that type of a lifestyle, this will have a great impact on the child. The child can either decide that this is not a life he or she would choose to lead or the child will think this life is normal and follow in their leaders footsteps. A parent or guardian can choose to raise their child with the guidance of a pastor and a church. Every choice that a guardian makes for their child, impacts that child greatly – either ... • 5. David Robert Mitchell's It Follows In It Follows, director David Robert Mitchell combines the tale of ordinary adolescents coming to age with a shapeshifting antagonist, as he masterfully blends the paradoxical topics of youthful, romantic realism and paranormal horror. While more subtle than the stereotypical "slasher" horror film, exploring loftier themes such as existentialism, sexual socialization, mortality, and sexual morality, it never strays from its main purpose: bringing fear and terror to the audience. Mitchell uses a number of ambitious and creative techniques to navigate this movie of contrast, none more prevalent or important than his use of diegetic and non–diegetic sound. The natural sound, sound effects, and music set the tone and mood of It Follows from beginning ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Not only is there a conflicting dissonance between the diegetic and non–diegetic sound as discussed previously, this element is equally present within the incidental music itself. Quite frequently a single beat or rhythm is introduced and subsequently grouped with differing, often incongruent beats, sound effects, noises, and tones. Combining a huge assortment of audio techniques, varying greatly in style, tone, and tempo, the background score is erratic and unpredictable and it injects the film with a volatile, unrelenting feel. Futuristic melodies, distorted and muffled noise, screeching static sounds, pulsating beats, siren–like music, pounding, banging, grating, and soft, echoing tunes are all combined and jumbled together at different times, never letting the audience get comfortable with anything it hears. This effect is amplified by suddenly starting and stopping, changing speeds, and alternating levels of volume to the already perplexing and unnerving soundtrack. These strategies, much like the foreboding antagonist, constantly remind the audience of the looming, impending doom the characters face, even in the safest of settings and in the most mundane ... • 9. It Follow Film Analysis Cinematography Cinematography deals with the making of a movie. In the film, It Follows, the frame and camera movement help to direct the audience's attention, shape the audience's feelings about the mise–en–scene, and to reveal the theme of the film. In the film, It Follows, the cinematography tries to direct the audience's attention to the "it." This is a very important aspect to the film. The cinematography is able to successfully direct the audience's attention b y the movement of the camera. Throughout the film, the camera will pan completely around the screen in order to let the audience know where the "it" is in relation to the character that is being followed. Jay, the girl who is being followed, is not always aware of the "it's" location, but it is important for the audience to understand just how close it is creeping up. The cinematography gives the audience this knowledge. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At the beginning of the movie, all the audience is made aware of is a girl running around and then she ends up dead, The audience is confused about what is happening and this is because the cinematography does not allow the audience to see "it" following the girl. • 13. Form Follows Function Essay Louis Henry Sullivan was the architect that created and promoted the paramount precept to 19th century architectural design, 'form follows function.' The idea behind the design philosophy was that, "structural and aesthetic considerations should be entirely subject to functionality it was met with both approval and scepticism." (Boundless, 2017) Modern architecture is commonly defined by its simplification of form. Early modern architecture began in the 20th century, with attempts to integrate, "the principles underlying architectural design with rapid technological advancement and the modernization of society." (Architect.architecture.sk, 2017) A Function needs a form in order to complete its objective. A form without its function is just a good looking design on a piece of paper. Once a designer understands the function of the piece, the additional parameters and the limitations created by the function, the designer can then construct a form that supports the function, whilst acknowledging the principles of design. The idea that 'form follows function' is an original idea that is applied to architecture that states that the shape of a structure is governed by its function. Indeed, until recently, 'form follows function' was practiced in the work of modern architecture, but soon began being applied to the design of products that we use in our everyday lives, industrial design. In 'What is Form Follows Function,' John Spacey writes that, "The principle is considered the driving principle of modern architecture and is often applied in other areas of design such as product design." (Spacey, 2017) The design philosophy that 'form follows function' is evident and supported in both modernist architecture, The Wainwright Building, designed by Louis Henry Sullivan himself and 20th century design, The ... • 17. The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success Essay The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success Following the Seven Spiritual Laws of Success has made me the person that I am today. The laws that we have followed have been the Law of Pure Potentiality, the Law of Giving, the Law of Karma or Cause and Effect, the Law of Least Effort, the Law of Intention and Desire, the Law of Detachment, and the Law of Dharma or Purpose in Life. These laws have taught me that success is not a destination it is a journey. They have taught me that true success is the unfolding of the divinity within us. The third step in the Law of Pure Potentiality was the most difficult to obey, it still is extremely difficult for me. All my life for some reason I have been judgmental, I always made comments on others clothes or their demeanor. Not always in a negative way, usually I am just stating things that I have noticed. It is like second nature to me especially because my family and friends are the same way. After learning about this law and discussing it I noticed how much I actually do it. Everyday I catch myself going to make comments. I usually I stop myself before I speak, I do not always though. It is very difficult for me, it upsets me a lot when I am judgmental. I have gotten much better than I was. I notice how I am not judging where in the past I normally would. The Law of Giving steps are not as difficult for me to follow as the Law of Pure Potentiality. The first step is the hardest for me. I do not always remember to bring a gift wherever I go, and sometimes I feel like it is inappropriate, that others will think that I am weird. Like when I am going to someone that I do not know that well's house for a short time, and when I go to my boyfriends' house because I go there so often I think they would think it was strange that I was always bringing gifts. Although, when I go to friends houses for dinner or for overnight I do bring a gift, like cookies, chips, or soda. Something ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Dental Patient Follow Up Studies indicate that between 50 percent to nearly 80 percent of patients do not adhere to the services recommended by the American Dental Association; additionally, approximately 50 percent of patients are lost due to lack of follow–up. Dental patient follow–up is essential, but phone calls may not be enough anymore If you want to expand your practice, you need to offer your patients exceptional, individualized care; to accomplish this task, an effective follow up program is vital. Without such a program, contacting the patient may falter. Connecting with your patients can be challenging because the patients of today are always on the go. When the students choose to follow them they will get rewarded or pay the consequence. When all of the students are following the rules there will be less interruptions. Procedures, rules, and a reward system allows more time for conductive learning. In everyday routines, "children have to suppress undesirable behaviors in order to follow their caregivers' requests" (Kopp, 1982, p. 208). Procedures According to Firman, Beare, and Loyd (n.d) procedures are important for "self–management to increase students' time–on–task as well as other academic and behaviors" (p. 163). Summary Of The Gold Threaded Dress The Gold Threaded Dress Carolyn Marsden's book, The Gold Threaded Dress, follows the life of a young Thai girl named Oy as her family is forced to move neighborhoods because of the cheaper rent – placing Oy at an entirely new school. She feels like an outsider at this new school because there is nobody that looks like her and she is constantly reminded of that because her peers mock her ethnicity daily. She wants nothing more than to fit in with the popular girls at their "clubhouse." She gets that opportunity one day when a picture of her wearing a ceremonial silk dress with gold embroidery falls out of her backpack. The leader of the clubhouse, Liliandra, picks up the picture and notes how Oy looked like a princess and tells Oy that she can be in the clubhouse if she brings the dress to school so some of the other girls can try it on. Oy is hesitant at first, and even turns down the offer, but after imagining what it would be like to be in a friend group – and a popular one at that – Oy reluctantly agrees. The girls are not gentle with the dress and are each rushing to get it on all with Oy being a bystander as she hears rip after rip. After getting outed by the principal, Oy heads home thinking about how her mother, Kun Mere, will react. Luckily Mere understands, and with Oy's help, they are able to fix the dress. I believe that this book is a good representation of a multicultural text when basing it off Professor Boyd's qualities. The book was written in the year ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In todays, workforce workplace policies are constantly changing in order to fit the needs of the company and its employees. Workplace policies are designed to establish guidelines for an employee's behavior and ways to make the company more productive. Some companies have unions and these unions may be involved with the action of these polices. The Unions act as a voice and will speak for the employees' rights. Therefore; employees can find ways to help them with policy challenges. Workplace policies are helpful to workers; however, unions and other learned skills may help employees. It is vital to an ... Such examinations of history show that lessons can be learned from the varying disciplines focused on the forms and functions of designs; where different designers take different standings on what is the appropriate form for the desired function. Burkey Belser, an information designer, discusses contemporary design, and that "The mirror has shattered and fragments of design movements are now strong, moving in parallel streams". (Belser 2002) This statement shows the drift caused in design through history and the increase in individualism that now exists. Examples can be seen in all aspects of design, where ... I took a new approach with this project, where I thought about what type of room I was making the shade for, as a person will have different lighting needs for each room, and shades should vary based on that purpose. Many of the designs I saw were similar in their shape, but it was the decoration that varied. I took a bedroom light–shade as my challenge, where I wanted to make a shade that could create a soft light, where the light would not shine directly down, but rather flow to the ceiling and around. The shape itself was quite simple; a truncated cone which would hang from the ceiling, with a smaller cone placed inside. The idea was that the majority of the light would reflect back towards the ceiling, where it could fill the room, while a small amount would come through the small gap between the cones. With this project, I made a similar task for myself, to make a Christmas–themed lantern. This was to explore the possible functions of lighting and lamp shades, as well as how form follows function, so while my plan was to create a decorative lantern with a Christmas–look; it wasn't difficult for the form to create itself. I sketched a 'winter village' on some card with a black pen for the shade, many pin sized holes were made in specific locations to highlight the drawing, and it was then made to a cylinder where I made a cap to block the light. Such as when they are speeding they need to slow down and follow the speed limit. Always follow the rules that are given, so nothing bad happens. This quite similar to dating. Because if the rules are not followed it could cause some serious consequences. For my future children I plan to give them rules to keep them safe and responsible when dating. The first rule that I will have for my kids is nobody will be allowed in a bedroom with the door close, for a variety of reasons. I would not like the thought of two teenagers in a room alone and with no supervision. They should be visible at all times, so if the door was glass that that would be fine with me. Another reason is the bed. I understand that everyone that has children must trust their children, in addition to I strongly believe parents will plan for the worst no matter how much they trust their kid. I will not want my child to get anyone pregnant/be pregnant so to prevent such events they will not be allowed in a bedroom with the door closed also will have to be visible at all times. ... • 57. Follow Filial Piety In Confucianism In the teachings of Confucius, there are concepts ranging from jūnzǐ to zhì, but the two key teachings that are predominant in both Analects and Menzi readings are lǐ and xiào. Lǐ refers to having certain rules to follow for proper behavior, while xiào refers to practicing filial piety with in ones family, friends, and ruler. Furthermore, an example that shows lǐ is shown in Book Ten of the Analects, showing how proper behavior has to be altered depending on the situation that one is in (Ivanhoe: 27). Proper behavior has to be shown at all times, but there are distinct situations where more respectful behavior is required. Overall, having rules for proper behavior keeps order within Confucius families, rulers and essentially the universe. Having this proper behavior not only shows respect for others, but it also shows how knowledgeable one is (Ivanhoe: 27). Additionally, xiào is shown in the Analects by the way in which Book seventeen represents it. Analect 17.9 does not specifically talk about how to follow filial piety, but it provides an example on how education will teach you how to follow filial piety (Ivanhoe: 44). Probably. But it was just such a surreal experience. I went to go see The 1975 at Club Nokia in Los Angeles, California. My best friend knew that I had never been to a concert before, so on my Birthday she gave me tickets to go see The 1975 as a gift. I had been looking forward to the concert for months, and when the day finally came, I felt both nervous and excited to go see one of my favorite bands. The 1975 is an alternative rock/indie rock/pop music band who I had heard of due to another band that decided to cover one of their songs. The first song I heard was called "Medicine." It was two in the morning and I was driving to Arizona. Such a beautiful song, something about it was almost therapeutic for me. I fell in love with it instantly. After my trip to Arizona, I finally had time to do my research. I listened to The 1975's entire discography and they immediately became one of my favorite bands. I was glad that The 1975 would be my first concert experience ever. It was a cold Wednesday morning, I woke up at around six and waited for my friends to pick me up so we could go eat breakfast at IHOP before we made our way to Los Angeles. Upon arrival we decided to make a few stops before heading to the venue. We decided to do some shopping at The Grove. Being the huge book nerd that I am, I of course had to ... Through Mary Ingles hard work and determination she proved that all obstacles big and small can be overcome. The book started out with a bloody massacre at Mary Ingles Virginia settlement in 1755. Mary Ingles was pregnant with her third child and twenty–four years of age when the Shawnee Indians came and kidnapped her, her two sons, her sister–in–law, and her neighbor. Follow the River had a lot of dialogue leaving the reader with the feeling that they were battling the Virginia wilderness right along with Mary Ingles. James Alexander Thom used vivid description on everything that he wrote, he painted the picture for the reader with a myriad of words, and he left no leaf undescribed in the Virginia wilderness. The only thing that seemed confusing about this book is that the reader can never figure out where Mary Ingles is , it would help a lot if a map was placed somewhere in the book showing the trail of Mary and her companion. James Alexander Thom did seem a little bias in his book. He would call The Shawnee Indians heathens, he always just looked at the English point of view and never the Indians point of view, because at this time the reader should be informed that the Indians are being forced to be moved from place to place by the white man, but I don't believe that the authors intent was to give the Shawnee Indians a bad name he just wanted to get the point across that some young pioneer ... Qualitatively, the elution fraction E2 fluoresced the most when placed under a hand–held UV lamp. • 117. Descriptive Essay On My House A bang on my door interrupts my quiet slumber and jolts my body into a sitting position. I rub my blurry eyes and swing my legs over the side of my bed, trying to move forwards. My foot gets caught in the fluffy blanket and I tumble to the ground. "Gahh!" My head hits my side table when I bolt into a sitting position. My hand reaches up and rubs my head whilst my other hand balances my glasses on the bridge of my nose. "Come downstairs and get dinner!" My cousin's rough, irritable voice comes through my door. "I'll be down in a minute." My voice comes out quiet and hoarse, making it sound like I need a large glass of water. I open my closet doors and scan over the contents before picking out a pair of boots, a white, chunky sweater, a black scarf, and some thick jeans. With a click, my door unlocks and swings open to reveal the bathroom door in front of me. The cold hardwood floor makes my feet tingle whilst I cross into the even colder bathroom. Although the room is cold, I feel warm inside with excitement while I change into my clothing and flash an indeterminate smile at the mirror. A second click sounds when I open the door and head to the large kitchen. I almost make it without any accidents only to break the streak by tripping on air and face planting into the maroon colored wood. Mara, one of my two bratty kin, remarks, "Can you not go 5 minutes without hurting yourself?" Her statement is met with a half–hearted laugh and grin whilst pushing myself up and walking ... • 121. Modernism In Form Follows Function, By Wilk Christopher In this essay I am going to talk about one theme of Modernist, looking at the different views of designers in two different books which are 'Form Follows Function' by Susan Lambert from 1993 and the second book is Modernism by Wilk Christopher. The Modernist theme I had choose is 'Form Follows Function'. Form follows purpose, use is a sense of right connected with modernist buildings and structure design and to do with industry design in the 20th hundred. The general rule is that the form of a building or purpose should be primarily based upon its person one is going to be married to group event or purpose. Louis Sullivan is American architect that have interesting theory about form follows function. Louis' theory on the idea of relationship of the form follows function change the idea of architecture. He had very big influence on the theory and language of architecture. His most famous essay in 1896 "The tall office building artistically considered", he is explaining there his theory of his style for the building. Sullivan's theory was that the tall building exterior design, which is the form should have relationship and similarity to the activities which is function that is the structure of the walls inside of the building. His idea was that the form and function of the building can be also be beautiful build. As part of the skyscraper made by steel frame ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 125. Descriptive Essay : My First Day First days are usually the best and sometimes the scariest, in some cases they turn out to be the worst of days of a person's life. On our first days of doing something, we all have expectations; everyone expects to have the best experience on his/her first day, but these expectations sometimes end up to be the opposite of what we expected. Sometimes they turn out to be a mixture of both the best moments and the worst. Similarly, I have a first day that I think will forever be in my mind; that is my first at the zoo. After breaking for the winter holiday, my friends and I planned to visit the zoo on the first weekend of our holiday. On the visiting day, we agreed to meet at the bus stop at exactly 7.30 am so we could departure at exactly 8.00 am. We decided to use a bus so we could make our trip more fun and longer. Everyone was on time and that is how I discovered that my friends are good timekeepers. We departed at the bus stop at exactly 8.00 am for a three–four–hour journey. On our way, we sung funny songs to keep us busy, although some people had earphones on, but that was not a problem to most of us as we all have different ways of killing time and having fun. In about three and a half hours or so, we were at the zoo. By the time we arrived at the zoo, it was almost 12 noon so we decided not to get started with the zoo tour but begun by playing some games so we could pass time until after 1 pm. We played the rollercoaster, Mary–go–round and other rides. One of my ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 129. Summary Of Cassia In Matched In the book Matched by Ally Condie the main character Cassia changes drastically throughout the novel. In the beginning of the novel Cassia has been just like everyone else and blindly following the rules of the society. When she gets matched with her best friend she is so excited, but when she sees another person on her microcard she slowly starts to see all the flaws of the society and what is wrong with what they are teaching her. Cassia changes significantly and observably from the beginning of the novel to the end. Before Cassia gets matched with Xander, she thought everything in her society was perfect and that they always had everything under control. She always thought she was safe and laughed at the idea of violence. When the cottonwood trees are being cut down and the cotton seeds fly everywhere, everyone gets worried thinking it was snowing in June. When a man tells them that they are tearing down the trees they all relax realizing that there was nothing going wrong in their society once again. As Cassia thinks about the logic behind what the man said she too is relieved and she says, "...thank goodness the Society has things under control as usual" (Condie 28). This shows that she thinks that the society is always right and they always know what is going on. Since she thinks she is so safe with the society she learns to just blindly follow what they tell her to say or do and not think or have any free will of her own, but someone can only be controlled for ... It Follows Film Analysis The films, American Movie and It Follows, offers different aesthetics, because the two movies are implementing a different message and want to be perceived differently to the viewers. American Movie displays aesthetics of realism, such as direct addresses to the camera, on–camera interviews, real mise–en–scene, and real people. It Follows is a more typical film that displays aesthetics of formalism such as expressive sound, expressive cinematography, expressive mise–en–scene, and performance capture. These two films are on completely different ends of the film spectrum, since one is fictional horror film and the other is a non–fiction documentary, so they differ in the aesthetics they use. The most obvious realism aesthetic is the direct address to the camera. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Most horror films do create this to engage the audience and suggest feelings about what is happening within the scene. Within the film they use expressive sounds and tones to create a feeling of horror or suspense. When "It" is transferred to Annie the guy she slept with drops her off in front of her house. He then speeds away in his car and the viewer hears the screeching of tires as he peels out. The peeling out noise continues and his car leaves the screen, but a creepier and screeching noise is implemented in the film to create a feeling of uneasiness. The purpose of this noise is to express a feeling of discomfort to the viewers as Annie crawls her way back to her porch. Obviously, this noise was created artificially and was edited in after the filming of the scene. The film makers implemented and blended the sound of the car tires and the screeching noise to make a continuous sound. This aesthetic would be seen within film of realism, since making artificial sounds within the film would take away from a film such as American Movie. • 145. Why Is It Important To Follow Directions Why is it important to follow directions? It is important to follow direction because if people didn't follow directions, we would have a lot of raucous. The reason why we would have raucous is because kids would have an even more high risk of doing drugs at really young ages and a more higher risk of homeless people, more deaths from walking streets unintended, and more. The reason it is important to follow directions is because for instance, if you walk across the street. If there's no speed limit, red lights, stop signs, or anything, you would be seriously injured. Another reason following rules is important is because if there was a man to have a weapon to put everyone lives in danger. If the kid was to not pay attention to any of the drills given, he would be harmed or even kidnapped. For example, that's what Mrs. Golden is always telling middle school students because we don't follow directions, one day it will really happen and all of our lives will be put in danger. ... Why People Follow After completing the two readings, "Why People Follow" and "Salsa, Soul, and Spirit", I now have a better understanding of leadership techniques that could strengthen communities as well as the performance of companies. I wasn't very surprised when seeing the four needs of followers from "Why People Follow": trust, compassion, hope, and stability. I thought that those were all characteristics that were ideal to any strong and effective leader. Of the four, I felt the most surprise with compassion. I didn't know how much being compassionate could have a lasting impact to those that follow you. I thought before that leaders would focus more on instructing their workers rather than give love to those that listen. I saw on the reading that those that have compassionate leaders are far ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, in "Salsa, Soul, and Spirit", one of the eight communal policies was about leadership as a social responsibility, the idea that all leaders should strive to bring equality and justice to everyone, no matter what race or social status. I found that policy to align with the need of being compassionate, seen in "Why People Follow". I feel that one needs to truly be caring for the unfortunate before starting any equality programs. One shouldn't help out others just to get some public fame. People need to understand the seriousness of income and racial inequality before heading out and actually leading social responsibility. Another communal policy, generating a shared vision, also aligns with the need of having hope. During both instances, you as a leader need to have some direction going before you start leading. You and your partners need to trust yourselves that you have the ability to move forward and inspire others. Believing that everybody could would together and get things done builds confidence not only for you but for those around you.
