This document provides planning details for a fashion magazine photo shoot project. It outlines two photo locations - York city centre and Easingwold. Models from both locations are named, along with their availability. Draft articles are included on the history of Nike Air Max day and a profile of the menswear store Oi Polloi. Other planned articles discuss the links between football fandom and fashion, and profiles of key streetwear brands. A bibliography is also included.

2. Location
York centre
I will be using central york as my main place for getting images. It is a versatile
location with a lot of different back drops. There is a potential for both urban and
rural shots. All my models will all be from york or the surrounding area making it a
very accessible and low cost location. In york there is the option of shooting both
indoors and outdoors although being a lot more limited locations such as inside the
minster and various shops and bars could still provide some nice images. There is no
real limitations in such a large and close location. There are some risks as there is in
any city such as traffic etc however these will be avoided by behaving sensibly.
Easingwold
Easingwold my second location is a small town outside of york. I live here and so
would be the easiest location to for me to shoot. I also know several people
available to model here so there would be zero cost to bring models from york
over. The scenery is mainly rural however has a lot of cool buildings as a small
market town. Possible locations included the market center, huge printer building,
various churches, pubs and many more. To shoot in easingwold the weather would
have to be at least dry as to not damage the equipment and make sure we can
safely access locations eg fields and woods.

4. Personnel
There should be little cause for concern in easingwold and york as there is no
extra danger apart from normal life. Obviously crossing roads etc are potential
risks as in any town or city however there is nothing being done to put any of the
models in danger. There is no climbing or risky images needed. Models will be in
no way put in any danger.

Easingwold – Robbie Palmer, Olivia Groom, Charlotte and Kate Oliver, Charlie
Baker, Elliott Stillburn, Max Carter
All of these models have availability on weekends mainly Sunday afternoon.
None have previous modeling experience however and so will need direction
from me as the photographer. None of these models have any cost. I will be
using mostly two models at a time however 1-4 people may be used.

5. Finance
My project will be very very cheap and affordable. All equipment or props
needed I already own apart from a camera. I will be borrowing a camera from
college for no cost. I will be needing a lot of street wear clothing for my models
to wear luckily my models already have a style relevant to what I want to show
in the magazine and I also own some some clothes I can bring for getting
photos. My locations will all be free of charge as they are mainly just outdoor
areas and my transport to york is pre paid so there is no cost there. I am using
models that live in york and easingwold so they do not have to pay and bus
fares or petrol I will be shooting them around the areas they live. This makes a
lot more sense as I have the free travel. I will be allocating a budget of 15
pounds for refreshments.
Materials
In my project my props are only the outfits and items needed for the articles. The
images being taken are all about the clothes and the backgrounds.

6. Colour schemes
I have had a brief look in to
what colours I think are
effective when coupled
together however I haven't
just looked at the colours
themselves I have tried to
compare their vibrancy or
dullness, these in my
opinion let you effectively
see softer and harder
colours that might be used.

7. Fonts
I have tried to select a
variety of fonts here so I
have a visual comparison. I
think that in this case the
simplest fonts are the best I
want the magazine to be
taken seriously and some of
these look very gimmicky
like the glue one. I think that
the first two the Helvetica
and bold font actually look
the most effective in this
case.

11. Nike Air Max day
Nike air max day is the yearly celebration of the
Nike Air Max range. Every year on this day Nike
unveils new shoes, special collaborations and
even competitions for designers to create
they’re own shoes. The first Air Max trainer the
air max one, was released in 1987. From then on
it has become one of the most diverse and
popular sneaker ranges ever.

12. Oi Polloi
Oi Polloi is a Manchester based menswear store that was founded 17 years ago by Steve Sanderson and
Nigel Lawson. Oi Polloi is located in the famous northern quarter, a place that suits the store perfectly.
The shop is a blend of classic, sports and workwear from around the world aiming to achieve a unique
casual look. As Sanderson said “it’s laid back, not that fancy dress stuff…”
For Oi Polloi the consumer is the mainly working class males and the type of attitude is similar to the
classic football culture. The store understands the idea of trend setting and having things other people
can’t get there hands on. Customers such as Ian Brown, Bernard Summer and Liam Gallagher regularly
visit the small store.
The shop is a in a fairly small sized corner building, number 63 Thomas street. The layout follows in the
tradition of other great northern boutiques with exposed brick walls, spot lighting and an extremely
clean set up. The company also has a much smaller store located in Soho in London.
The boutique stocks an ever changing list of brands, from designer giants such as Stone Island, Ralph
Lauren, Lacoste to more unique brands such as Norse projects, RAINS and Stutterheim. The stock is
carefully chosen as the shop is all about its image, just like it’s customers the clothes are such a
reflection on the company. A lot more stock is is rejected than sold and this is why the business has the
reputation it does.

13. Football and fashion
Fashion and Football go hand in hand and have done since the 80’s. Despite what anyone might say the
majority of premium brands in the majority of premium brands were actually introduced to the UK by
English fans going to away games abroad.
People argue who began the casual scene but most would agree that it was either Manchester or
Liverpool, most likely the scousers. The fans followed Liverpool for continental matches in the 70’s and
when visiting these new cities came across designer brands and labels completely unique to anything in
the uk. These clothes became a badge of honor in the UK and the whole casual scene was born. Football
fans trying to have better gear than the lad next to them.
Some of the most popular of these bands included Cp Company, Sergio Tachinni, Stone island, Fila, Fred
Perry. The foreign shops were clueless and for the visiting fans robbing them was like taking candy from
a baby. European shops had never experienced anything like it. Fans used to go with empty bags and
come home with them overflowing with designer gear.
Throughout the 70’s when football violence was beginning the police identified football clubs firms as
the skinheads, they were often not allowed to enter games. However this new wave of casuals were far
under the radar as the.
