6. Equipment
When it comes to equipment which I need it will include the following-
- 600D Camera and battery
- 600D battery ( Additional)
- SD card photography
- Tripod
- Reflectors
- Camera case bag
These are just a few of the Equipment which are necessary for this project, each of these pieces of equipment are used in
ways which will help my work such as the reflectors which are used to create a different form of light in the angle of your
choice by using this I will be able to get a really nice contrast on the light with the dark because it will be a similar light to
the sun which spares me having to go outside and get the right time for the sun to hit the model/actor. Another piece of
equipment which is really nice would have to be the 600D camera because the quality is very high and also there are many
different settings, one thing I will have to learn about this camera before I start would be have to be the ins and outs of the
camera because I am not the greatest at being a photographer one thing which will help would be looking at the saturation
of the photo because depending on the brightness it will change the appeal of the shot. The final piece of equipment
which is useful for taking different shots would have to be the Tripod because it makes sure that the shot I get is stable and
flat, this is something which I will really need to because it is easier to get a stable shot compared to holding the camera.
Other things which I need during this project will be the SD card which is really needed as it stores all of your photos on it
and if it where to corrupt you would have to redo everything so something which I will do will be after every shoot I will
save my work to multiple different places because I will have many backups, also I will need to have 2 batteries because if
one where to break of run out I will have a spare to make sure that I have enough time to get all of my photos.

7. Locations
There are few place in York which I could go to because there are not a lot of people which look really nice and could work
with my photography, one main place which I am thinking of would have to be the center of York near the main bridge
which goes over the river ouse, the reason In which I want to take photos near this location would be because it is so
vibrant and full of character with people and the river because they could blend in with each other, also one thing which is
nice would be when it is sunny next to the river a vast amount of people clump together which I go could someone near
their with the shop and could have them stand in front of them. I think that this is one area of York which is used a lot when
it comes to photographer because it just a huge area which is filled with people all day and all year round. All though this is
a good area to photograph one problem would have to be the people could get in the way of the shots which would mean I
would have to take hundreds of photos in each day, as well another problem which I could think of would have to be the
lighting because depending on how bright or dim the sun is I will have to change the ISO because it will change what the
shots look like, a way around this would have to be to check what the weather is going to be like as by checking I can pick a
day in which I know that the lighting is going to be alright and work with what I want which will probably be a short period
of time during which would have to be the golden hour. Another area in which I can think of when it comes to photography
would have to be the race track because there is a vast amount of space in which I can shoot and the scenery is very nice
with the nature in the background, this place would still have the problem of having people getting in the way because in
summer it is usually packed with people as it is a large open area. This area also would suffer more depending on the
weather because if it had been raining the floor would be soaking wet and muddy which would be a nightmare to get
through without getting anything dirty, which I will be shooting. These are two of the ideas of area to shoot because they
are well known and wide open to people so I wouldn’t have any problem with finding the best areas to shoot.

8. Models/Actors
The people who I have in mind for modeling for my FMP will be people who are confident on camera because I don’t want
to have a bad photo shoot as I will need to have multiple different shots each day. Also I don’t want to rely on people who
are not reliable because they may just say they want to do it but wont turn up which will hugely impact my work as I will
need to find another model who is more reliable and I know will actually turn up when they are asked to, by having
someone who is unreliable in my cast for the modelling it changes the kind of work which I make because they may not
wear the clothing which I ask of or when I start shooting they start playing around and not concentrating when I am trying to
get photos which would frustrate me as it would be something that would prolong the amount time which I have to get
what is necessary. I will more than likely get people from my class to model for me as I know they more than likely will work
alongside me as they are in the same boat, some people who I have in mind are the following:

Although I have only mentioned 4 so far I will be putting myself out there by asking more people because I need to have
people who are confident to work for me, the reason I think that only a four people have replied so far would have to be
that I don’t think that the people I asked really want to be on my work as they would rather be the person behind the
camera which I don’t mind because it is up to them I cant force them to do anything they don’t want to do. I will need to
find people who like being in front of the camera.

9. Transport
A way in which I plan on getting from location to location would either be using a bus because it is the easiest
transportation as there are hundreds of buses each day at different times so I could from one place to another place
when it is needed, but a problem with buses would have to be they are not always on time because they pick up people
and drop people off so that adds time onto how long it takes to get to certain areas around York. Also some of the buses
are fairly expensive depending on the distance in which It is from where you get on and where you want to get off.
Another means of transportation would have to be by car which would mean I would either have to get either by mum or
dad to take me somewhere or I could pay one of my friends to drive me somewhere are use them in my FMP so that It
wouldn’t mean another person coming as well. Transport is something which not everyone has access to so I may need to
take into consideration about how other people can get to where you want, as some people may only be able to either
walk or cycle to that location which I will need to make sure that it is an area which Is closer to them so they don’t have to
take a huge chunk of time out of their day. To get to the two locations which I am thinking about you will either need to
get a car/bus or use a train which Is fairly expensive which means I will have to shoot on days which people come into
college because it wouldn’t cost them any more money than usual.
A lot of transport cost a fair amount of money, for example a bus ticket from the train station to college would be around
£1.50 and then the train ticket alone would be around £10 to somewhere like Harrogate, which people don’t really want
to pay when they don’t have to be in college, for myself alone I have to pay £6.50 a week for a weekly bus ticket which
gives me access to use the bus wherever I want everyday, which is a lot cheaper than a train. Another large amount of
money people have to pay for transport would have to be petrol for your car which is very expensive from the place in
which you live to college which for most people is about more than 2 miles each way which would be around £30-£50 a
week which is a lot of money for a student to have to pay to come to college.

10. Filming outside
When it comes to filming outside for my photography there are many factors which I have to take into consideration
such as the weather because I need to know whether it is going to be clear and sunny in comparison to wet and rainy
because if I know what it is going to be by looking online at the weather because depending on what the weather is
like it will change the clothing and what I will need to bring to the shooting location, for example if It is hot the articles
of clothing will be tailored more towards short sleeves and shorts because I wouldn’t want the model to overheat, and
if It where rainy I would have the model wear something with more layers of covers more of the body and also a way I
could shoot by not having any problems would have to be get an umbrella for both the camera and the model so that
they don’t look different from what I want and also having the camera break due to the rain going inside them. These
are only two things which could effect what the day will be like when shooting because even if the weather is not
going to work with the shooting there are many ways around that being using equipment to block things out which will
massively effect what I do such as an umbrella or maybe using a coat or something to protect the camera. Other ways
in which I can use the weather to my advantage would be because if the sun isn't out I could reflectors which gives
unnatural lighting to an area of your choice, using a reflector there are two different sides one being silver and the
other being gold which do different things the difference between the two sides would have to be that silver is
amazing for areas of low light which could help with mine, where as the gold is good for warm light which puts a gold
overlay on the person, which I think could be useful for when I am in weather which isn't very bright. There aren't only
two weathers which could happen there are also things which could effect the shots would have to be fog which would
make it really difficult to shoot because I would not be able to see anything, but although it would hurt my shoot it
would look really cool because it would give it a really strange effect because the model would appear to be in the
middle of no where.

11. Software
This project will need me to use so many different software's, all being adobe as they are the leading software for
photography and making magazines. One key piece of software which I will use that I am common with would have to
be Photoshop which can be used to change the photos, such as retouching the models skin which I don’t think I will do
because I want everything to be natural but I will be experimenting with it. Also something else I will use Photoshop for
would be to design the different pages and then putting them into InDesign because it is the best tool to making a
magazine/booklet, the main thing which InDesign has over Photoshop would be the ways in which you can put your
work on the page which really helps me with the grids because it is similar to the rule of three because you have to have
everything in the correct lines and sections which is good. Another software which I have used when it came to photos
would be Light room as there are many different little things which you can do such as changing the saturation and the
contrast in the image which gives it a completely different feel and look to it, with light room it is made for photography.
With the different software's there are a lot of things which can go wrong including it not being up to date or another
issues which includes if you use a more modern version of Photoshop for example you cannot port your file to an older
version of Photoshop because it will either corrupt your file or unable to open them.
Something which can effect my work when it comes to my software would have to be that the only times which I have
access to them would be in college as I don’t have the resources at home because they are very expensive so this leaves
me to do all of my work at college besides my photography as I can take them outside of college. This will limit the
amount a time in each week that I can edit my photos or make designs, this is problem because If I am behind on work
over the weekend I would have to wait until the college week to do my work.

12. Techniques
There are going to be a lot of different techniques which will be used throughout this project as there are different things
which I will be creating, this means that I will have to learn a lot of new things such as with photography there are loads
of things which I can do to separate my work, one being DOF which Is Depth of field and the way in which to this would
be on a camera by changing the aperture which focuses your camera on things, and make the background blurry this is
the definition of DOF. This is one of many techniques another one being Rule of thirds which is the basis of getting
everything in the correct areas because there are 9 squares on the screen which you can see by position your shot so that
your main focus in the middle and the foliage or surroundings in the other few blocks this rule also applies for InDesign
which is having the each individual thing in the different sections. By learning new techniques before I start my
Production I will know the best way to approach each decision because I would find the positives and negatives in each
individual things which I make. Not only is there techniques in Photography there are techniques when it comes to
Photoshop being the ability to edit the appearance of some of the models which is something that the majority of
modelling shoots do because they want their models to look some what unrealistic which I could do but it would be in my
best opinion to ask the people who I model if there are confident in me using there original photos. One technique with
Photoshop photography which I already know would have to be making Depth of Field on Photoshop without it
appearing on the actual photo which Is good because if I lack the ability to get the DOF correct on a camera I can have the
ability to add something which although doesn’t look as realistic, by having the ability to apply this effect on my work it
limits the time which I need to take the photos because I don’t have to get the DOF correct using the aperture.

13. These are a few experiments which I made, these are layouts in which I hope to make
similar when it comes to my Final piece for work, they are both very similar in the way I
have layed them out because with the first screenshot I have an image in the center of
the page with two little rectangles which I have placed so that I looks like tape because I
like this look to it because they make my work stand out, as they link to the name of my
work which is classified and I took the look of caution tape which Is used around crime
scenes which I link to the work classified. Also with this image the black and white image
contrast with the bright yellow in the tape, because they are colours which are known to
work really well with each other. Another thing which I have put on this page would have
to be the text beneath it and below it because the text above will more than likely say
something which I want it to be named, for example the name of the photo which works
with the style of the photo and then the text at the bottom will talk about the clothing
which has been worn because I want the audience to know what I am trying to sell to my
audience.
The other experiment underneath it is very similar but I have decided to get rid of the
yellow tape on the edges because I wanted to see what it would look like without them
because I don’t want to them on every single page because I need to have some
differences between pages, Something which I am going to try and experiment with
would have to be some different style of photography and the techniques which include
things such as golden hour, blue hour and the composition of the image which would be
the way in which I arrange everything in the photo from the models to the scenery
around them because that could make the image so much better.

14. In these two images on the left handside they are effects which I tried to make as I had
seen them before used in clothing and also I knew how to do the effect, the reason In
which I decided to experiment with this effects would have to be because it would reduce
the time in which I would need on potentially changing the models appearance and also it
would make it so that I didn’t have to rely of their appearance because if they didn’t like
the image I could easily go over their face with this effects, finally something which It
allows would have to be the models privacy If they were not wanting to let the audience
know who they are so by doing this the audience will having no idea the what they models
look like. This one of the only effects which I decided to experiment which completely
alters the image in every sense because It adds something which isn’t there and also is
unrealistic. By doing this it allows the audience to focus in on the clothing in which they
are wearing instead of the appearance of the model which allows me to made the image
look better by adding other effects on the photo. This is one of the effects which I hope to
bring forward into my final pieces because I find this the most interesting effect which I
could possibly put on my work as it makes it weird and abstract . I had seen this effect on
Instagram before and it really enticed me because I had never seen anything like this
because they had done something which took away from the entire idea of models in
photography because they got rid of them by making the person unrecognizable and also
the difference between my experiments and their actual work would have to be that they
decided to make some clothing cartoon as well which changes the focus of the image as
they have you looking on the one article of clothing which isn’t cartoon mainly the piece of
work which they are trying to sell to their audience.
