Electric flux is a measure of how much of an electric field passes through a surface, proportional to the number of electric field lines passing through perpendicularly. Mathematically, electric flux is defined as the dot product of the electric field intensity and the vector area, representing the total number of field lines passing through the unit area of a surface held perpendicular. Maximum electric flux occurs when the surface is placed perpendicular to the electric field.
