Methodology:
In order to achieve the above goals, several steps were carried out. First, various online dating
sites were considered and narrowed down to three possible choices: eHarmony, Match.com, and
Christian Mingle. Three ideas were brought forth regarding which site to analyse in order to
determine which sites could potentially hold more issues and which site had sufficient content to
be analyzed effectively. Next in the process, eHarmony was chosen as the site that would be the
target for analysis. eHarmony is a very popular dating site and is well known due to their numerous
infomercials and online advertisements and thus presents a great opportunity to examine the
elements involved in a formal and well designed user agreement. Following the choosing of a site, a
copy of the user agreement from eHarmony was obtained and given an initial review. This step
acted as the first run through of the agreement, which involved identifying possible legal issues in
the clauses, highlighting important points form each clause, and gaining a general understanding
of the agreement. The agreement consisted of two separate documents titled Privacy Policy and
Terms of Service , each outlining the obligations of the company and the customer respectively. In
addition, an examination of the actual purpose and requirements of the assignment was carried out.
In this particular phase of the paper, the course outline was reviewed and the outline of the paper

Christianity in Ipoti Ekiti can be traced to the one that started in Badagry in 1842. It came late to

Then it was left in the sun to dry. The goal was to bend the wood into a V shape. After bending
six pieces of wood they were glued together. Leather and rope was also used to hold the wooden
V s to each other. The spokes were composed of two halves, this would form a hexagonal star.
While most wheels consisted of four pieces of wood bent into V s the Egyptians developed the
six V wheels. This was not as strong but was faster and lighter. Which proved to be more
efficient in the sandy lands. While the chariots were not in used the wheels were removed
because the weight of the chariot would bend them into ovals. The process of creating the
chariot took much longer than the wheels. They would use light but strong wood on the
platform and sometimes leather. The sides were then composed of wooden bars and wrapped in
leather and stucco. This would make the outer rim strong and able to resist and arrow. Like the
modern car today the chariot had an axle that connected it to the horse and the chariot. It was
attached to a wooden plate in between the two horses. The axle attached the horse was similar to
a trailer hit today. It was attached to a ball allowing it to swivel and move. Allowing the chariot to
turn and adjust to uneven land faster. It also reduces the stress on the horses. It was not a simple
as just buying a chariot and use it forever without problems. No, this is not a toyota corolla and it

Comparing The Political Bosses Of William M. Tweed And Tom...
Two men from different parts of the country and different times in history were able to
accomplish the same thing, controlling a city and its people to get what they wanted. William
M. Tweed and Tom Poppell were two political bosses who resemble each other immensely. They
both came into power by controlling a group of people and used their votes in their favor. They
were corrupt people in power who the media was trying to shine a light on to take down. Though
one of them you could say was a racist and they handled the media in different ways, they were
always only in it for the money. Tom Poppell was a sheriff in Georgia s county of McIntosh. He
was a beloved sheriff for several years. He is a real life character in Melissa Fay Greene s Praying...

Analysis Of I Died For Beauty
The poem that I have chosen to analyse is I Died for Beauty but was Scarce by Emily Dickinson.
This poem is one of Emily Dickinson s most well known poems and it only includes 12 lines and
3 stanzas. It is an allegorical and metaphorical piece of work that portrays the speaker who died
for Beauty while the man beside gave up his life for Truth . This simple and straightforward poem,
written in first person, mainly explores the theme deathbut then also shows beauty and truth through
Dickinson s choice of words. Although this poem is daunting and frightening, it is also definitely
fascinating and truthful.
The first stanza is about the speaker dying for Beauty . It seems that he (we can conclude that the
speaker is a he from the poem s later mention of Brethren and Kinsmen ) must have been loved
before and had a proper burial. But just before he gets comfortable or can get Adjusted into the
Tomb and left alone for too long, he is accompanied by a deceased man who died for Truth in a
tomb next to him. The theme death is brought in by the words Tomb and died . Dickinson also
used the word scarce to show the reader that it is uncommon to find someone who believes that it
is worth dying for beauty too. In the first stanza, the rhyme scheme ABCB is present but this
rhyme scheme is only found in stanza one. Emily Dickinson capitalised some of the nouns used in
her poem. I believe she did this to show that these words carry deep meaningfulness to this poem.

The Very Different Ruling Styles of Augustus Caesar and...
Two of the more memorable emperors to the Romans were Augustus Caesar (27 BC to 14 AD),
and Caligula (37 AD to 41 AD). Although only having ruled the empire by a separation of 23
years and belonging to the same family (through marriage and adoption), their empires couldn t
have been more different. It is possible to determine the impact of an emperor s rule based on
their many vices and virtues, as well as the choices that they make in relation to them. The
author Suetonius expressed in his writings the many vices and virtues that put into perspective
the kind of leaders that these emperors appeared as to their polis. As we explore the concept of
vices and virtues, as well as what kind of ideals these two rulers represented, we will begin to be
presented with a clearer picture of what an ideal emperor would have looked like. A vice can be
described as an immoral or wicked behavior; while a virtue can be described as a behavior
showing high moral standards. Suetonius and the Roman people had a high interpretation of the
concept of virtue and vice, as well as their role in the ruler s life.
When discussing Augustus and Caligula it is simple to bring up the subject of public works and law.
Augustus had the most success with his many projects, including the Temple of Mars the Avenger,
the Palatine Temple of Apollo, and the Temple of Jupiter the Thunderer on the Capitol. Many
colonnade, basilica, and theater were erected and named after relatives. He urged many renowned

Rhetorical Analysis Of Attack Of The Zombies By Rodney Clapp
The Life of a Zombie
Rodney Clapp, writer, editor for Wipf and Stock Publishers and expert in topics such as theology
and culture, in the article, Attack of the Zombies , argues that many things in life are beginning to
resemble zombies. Clapp assumes that the audience also views zombies as lifeless creatures that
go around spreading their disease. The author s purpose is to persuade the audience to believe that
many things they see today are starting to resemble zombies. The author writes in a challenging
tone for people who question the similarity of zombies to every day life. Clapp supports his
argument by comparing and contrasting, and exemplification.
Clapp assumes that the audience sees zombies as creatures that serve no purpose, but to spread
their contagion. He refers to this in his article when asking the questions of what would you do if a
loved one was turned into a zombie. This scenario is hard to choose between because it makes the
audience feel challenged on what they would do in a situation like that. They aren t sure if they
would save someone they love by helping them or save themselves. This is significant to the
argument because he is trying to prove that we all see zombies are deathly and ... Show more

organizations and ads that end up in your spam folder or mailbox. He says they are similar in the
way that they are lifeless and swarm us all at once, like how zombies are lifeless bodies that
travel typically travel together. He does state the difference between emails and zombies by
saying emails can be deleted with a click of a button whereas zombies must be killed in a more
violent setting. This is significant because it Clapp is showing the audience how there are
similarities to being a zombie and living in a world where zombies supposedly only exist in

Accounting Minefields Essay
Tread Lightly through These Accounting Minefields
Tremendous pressure is placed upon accountants and executives to provide favorable financial
conditions of their organization (Sherman Young, 2001). As such, accounting practices are
continually a source of question and concern for many organizations in reporting profits and
corporate financial information to shareholders, stock markets, and government filings. Hence, the
role of the ethical accountant and executives becomes crucial to the continued success and
operation of the organization. Consequently, pitfalls or minefields of questionable accounting
practices must be avoided.
Said pitfalls include revenue measurement and recognition, provisions for uncertain future costs,
asset valuation, derivatives, related party transactions, and information utilized in bench marking
performance (Sherman Young, 2001). While impossible to fully eradicate the occurrence of
questionable, unethical or illegal accounting practices regarding accounting minefields,
organizations must implement procedures, controls, and culture to minimize the potential of such
practices occurring within their establishments.
Revenue Measurement and Recognition Revenue is an increase in a business equity resulting from
the sale of products or services (Warren, Reeve Duchac, 2012). As such, organizations should
recognize revenue upon the completion of transactions resulting in the earning of said revenue
allowing for its recognition within

deceased would face upon arriving into the underworld. Knowing which spell, password or

Each spell, password and funerary text varied in different ways, especially when it depended on
the class and the importance of the deceased. The Book of the Dead also had many vignettes,
which were illustrations showing what the deceased would face in the underworld or the life of

Since the Blackfish documentary viewed on CNN and Netflix, SeaWorld has been facing the

certain level of respect from a civilized society that is aware and understands the behaviors of

receives from organizations such as SeaWorld is an invaluable experience, but I believe there are
more humane ways to engage communities in the education and welfare of animals that are not

Radio Is Becoming More Prolific
Like all media, radio is rapidly changing. In fact, Lacey (2013) states that Radio is arguably
becoming more prolific, more fragmented, more manipulable, more mobile, and more global .
This is evidenced by the fact that radio distribution has become more pervasive, production
technology has dramatically changed and the consumption habits of listeners have become diverse.
There are several reasons as to why these changes are happening and a prime example of this
change in radio is Mediaworks multi platform morning news and current affairs show, Paul Henry.
On Tuesday 7th of April 2015, Mediaworks launched their first multi platform breakfast show Paul
Henry ( Paul Henry reveals , 2015). With Henry at the helm of the show, viewers could... Show

Here, radio waves are sent from a transmitter to radio receivers using allotted frequencies in the
electromagnetic spectrum (Chignell, 2009, p1). In other words, speech from a person talking in a
studio is turned into a radio wave, beamed across the airwaves to a receiving radio set and then
turned back into speech again for people to listen to. There are three main frequencies used in
analogue radio amplitude modulation, frequency modulation and short wave. At first, Amplitude
modulation or AM was the dominant frequency, however, people found that the quality was poor
particularly during the night. FM or frequency modulation soon took over as the preferred
frequency as the sound quality was better and there was no interference day or night (Chignell,
2009). For FM radio, they also found that the potential geographical reach could be manipulated
by altering the amount of power going into the transmitter. For example, a 100,000 watt
transmitter could reach an area with a radius of 104 kilometres whereas a 50,000 watt transmitter
could only reach an area with a radius of 72 kilometres (Chignell, 2009). Analogue frequencies are
still a common form of distribution in New Zealand, but up until recently, this was the basis for all
forms of radio communication.

the past 15 years, listener numbers have dropped 20 percent ( People are

Tax Policy Persuasive Essay
As we approach election day, both front runners; Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton have
proposed their policies if they were to take office. Hillary Clinton is advocating to increase tax on
the top one percent, while Donald Trump wishes to cut tax (especially for the wealthy and middle
class). Trumps policy mirrors the trickle down system; where we cut taxon the rich, leaving them
with more money in which we assume they will invest. Yet, we have seen this to be a failure
since the rich do not invest their money, rather, they save it. Trump s proposal is more of a tax
relief when compared to Secretary Clinton s plan, however, Trump s proposal could cause more
problems to rise.
Next, both front runners must find funding to implicate their policies. Hillary Clinton s policies
will cost about $1.8 trillion, however, her offsets match up to the price. Despite Clinton s
dedication to pay for her policies, she is not healing the U.S. debt. Debt held by the public would
rise from 74% GDP to 86% GDP by 2026. GDP affects everyone; from businesses, to average
citizens within the economy. Gross domestic production represents the dollar value of goods and ...

Trumps tax policy is flawed, which is why we must tweak it so that tax is only cut on the middle
class. The basis of a strong economy is founded among a strong middle class. This would increase
consumer spending (since the middle class spend the most), stimulating the U.S. economy (and
businesses). We should stray away from Trump s immigration policy getting rid of anyone
undocumented in the U.S. since it dilutes consumer spending (immigrants contribute $12 billion to
the economy). A successful business always sets priorities that must be done. To maintain a healthy
economy, business growth, and consumer spending, we must first tackle the largest problem we
have. We must heal tax, debt, and war prior to fixing the smaller issues such as

From the split of the Roman empire to the rule by the Ottoman empire to the World Wars and most

long history of conflict has impacted the people of this region in ways that still matter today, such
as ethnic identity and religion. While this extended, complicated history has given Croatiadepth, it

kingdom does not prescribe the laws for the other. This attitude of independence was and continued

The Civil Of The American Civil Justice System
The Civil Procedure Rules aim was to supply simply expressed rules in order to make the civil
justice system accessible, fair and efficient . In order to assess the extent to which they have
provided this it will require an assessment of the Overriding objective of the CPR, the use of pro
action protocols, and an analysis of judicial case management. Assessing these parts of the CPR
will enable an evaluation of whether the CPR emphasis in preparing cases for settlement,
instead of preparing cases for trial, may have caused a quicker and more effective mechanism
for settling disputes. The CPR were introduced in 1998 with an accompanying practice direction.
They were introduced after Lord Woolf s Access to Justice Report which stated that the Civil
Justice system had problems of cost, delays and complexity which has created an injustice to the
Civil Justice system . CPR r.1.1 (1) states that there overriding objective is to enable the court to
deal with cases justly while at a proportionate cost . The CPR requires the courts and the parties
to further the overriding objective . One instance where the parties are to further the overriding
objective would be through the removal of arguments likely to fail. For instance, in the case of
Buxton v Mills Owens it was held that the legal adviser s parties will be in breach of their
obligations under 1.3 if they advance arguments which they know are bound to fail . Thus,
providing a quicker way to settling disputes by ensuring a

Gender Roles In Frederick Douglass
The endeavor to escape slavery was an idea that pondered in the minds of slaves. While slavery
influenced both genders emotionally, physically, and educationally, ultimately only the male
gender was able to comprehend what it would be like to be able to flee slavery. Men took charge
and became independent being able to leave slavery, whereas the women were more dependent as
wives and mothers, which caused them to not be able to getaway. Douglass and Jacobs works
proved this to be true as the reader sees their experiences as a slave fluctuate based on their gender.
Through Douglass encounters as a slave we see how important it is for a male to participate in
physical labor and then through Jacobs story, one is able to see how women were used mostly
by their masters sexually. Once Abolition started everyone thought it would better the lives of
men and women, but boy were they mistaken. In Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl and
Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, the authors vary in the way that the men are able to
escape slavery easier than woman because of the expectations of gender roles during the time
and that is what shaped these two works. Throughout Douglass narrative of his life, he is able to
have this image that one day he will no longer be controlled by a master and no longer be a slave
and is something Linda in Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl, cannot ever see because her family
is restricting her from this idea. Douglass has no parents or

Flashbulb Memory Analysis
The cognitive level of analysis aims to study the inner process of the mind and how cognitive
processes guide an individuals behaviour. Within the levels of analysis emotions have been
investigated through their cognitive processes. There are many theories surrounding emotion. The
one that I have chosen is the theory of how emotionaffects the cognitive processed of memory
which is Flashbulb Memory put forward by Brown and Kulik in 1977. This theory shows how
emotion can affect memory by enhancing it. According to some psychologists the arousal of
emotion can make it easier to remember events that occurred during that aroused state. Flashbulb
memory is a kind of emotional memory which created vivid and very detailed memories of events

The aim of this study was to test the theory. The participants selected were either from the UK or
not. The participants were interviewed on the resignation of the British Prime minister that had
occurred a few days earlier, they were then questioned again 11 months later on the same event. The
results showed that 86% of UK participants still had Flashbulb memory of this event. The non Uk
participants only had 29% flashbulb memory of this event. The conclusion reached was that this
event met the criteria for Flashbulb memory for British people as it was an unexpected and highly
significant event related to their culture therefore arousing emotion and triggering the neural
mechanism creating Flashbulb memory of the event. A limitation of thus study is that the distress
the participants may have felt in having to remember this event and some of the methodology was
not controlled. However the study does suggest that flashbulb memories do exist and differ from
normal memory

Stereotypes In The Outsiders By S. E. Hinton
Ponyboy Was Never Like the Rest of the Greasers
What is a stereotype? In the book The Outsider by S.E Hinton, Ponyboy the main character is a
member of a gang called the Greasers. People have fixed ideas or stereotypes about what gangs
are like. Ponyboy considered himself a Greaser but he is the farthest thing from that stereotype.
Ponyboy is intelligent, feels deeply and is not a violent person and that does not fit the Greaser
stereotype.
Stereotyping is when you take a person and you compare them to a type of person. This is
wrong because not all people are the same. People are unique. There is no one type of person.
Sadly, people believe that anyone who is part of a gang is not smart, but Ponyboy shows them
that he is. Ponyboy got A s, but he was a Greaser. I used to make A s in English, Ponyboy said
(Hinton 169). Yes, it is true Ponyboy said used to, but he went through some rough drama. That
means he was smart, and he really tried in English. People think ... Show more content on

Ponyboy did feel deeply about his friends and his loyalty to his gang, and sunsets. Greaser are
just normal people with normal feeling, but they choose to hide it. Maybe some of them can
shut out their emotions, but Ponyboy is not one of those people. He has emotions like fear and
sadness just like us. My stomach gave a violent start, and turned into a hunk of ice, Ponyboy said
(154 155). He was surprised, horrified, and a lot of other mixed emotions. In this scene Ponyboy
s friend is shot by a cop. Death is a scary thing, and there is no going back. Seeing this had to be
traumatizing. Getting close to dying, against your will may be even scarier. This happened to
Ponyboy too. I was scared so bad I wish it would. I screamed for Soda, Darry, anyone. (5). In this

The Eye Motif In The Tell Tale Heart And The Raven By...
On January 19, 1809, Edgar Allan Poe was born in Boston, Massachusetts. In spite of
experiencing several tragedies throughout his life, Poe had a successful career by writing short
anecdotes. Most of Edgar Allan Poe s stories have been known for having recurring literary
devices such as motifs. The motifs of the eye and heart are found in the story The Tell Tale Heart
and The Pit and the Pendulum. However, in the Tell Tale Heart and the Raven, the motif that is
commonly used is the unnamed narrator. The reason for Poe using these motifs remains unknown
at first glance but, once analyzing these motifs, one can identify their purpose. To begin, the eye
motif is used in The Tell Tale Heart. The old man in the story, has cataract on his left

The plot of the story revolves around the motif of the eye and it also gives justification for the
narrator to kill the old man. Similarly, in The Pit and the Pendulum, the eye motif is utilized as
the driving force of the plot and affects the reader. The narrator of the story is captured by an
inquisitorial group and is tortured. In the story, I (the narrator) had scarcely stepped away from
the bed of horror when the hellish machine stopped. I saw it being pulled up through the ceiling
by some invisible force (Poe 145). Once the narrator narrowly escapes from the brutal slaying,
immediately, the pendulum stops moving. Starting and stopping the pendulum was done by
inquisitors who serve as eyes for the cult leader. Again, the plot action of this story is dependent on
the eye motif. When the narrator escapes from the binding, new problems arise for the narrator
because the people who were watching him (the eyes) immediately executed their next backup
plan. According to the text, after the pendulum stopped, I (The narrator) shrank from the glowing
metal to the center of the cell. I thought of the fiery destruction that was near (Poe 156). The
narrator needs to escape from the constant back up methods of torture implemented by the
tormentors. Back to back tortures caused by the inquisitors drive the story forward. In addition, this
constant escape also affects the reader as well. The eye (inquisitors) is the reason for deploying

A Violent Society Causes Domestic Violence Essay
People who are close to one another need to trust each other. We should trust our parents not to
hurt us, and to give us what we need to grow. When someone is abused, the trust is broken.
Domestic violence is the use of physical force within a home in any form of abuse. Abuse can be
a whole range of physical behaviour, slapping, hitting, beating, or using weapons to hurt someone.
It includes verbal and emotional abuse, where someone is constantly insulted and made to feel sad
and worthless. It can also include rape and sexual abuse. Sexual abuse is when someone forces
another to have sexual intercourse or do other sexual things against their will. Another form of
abuse is total control where one adult makes all the decisions for another... Show more content on

Widespread belief that women were intellectually inferior to men led most societies to limit women
s education to learning domestic skills. Well educated, upper class men controlled most positions of
employment and power in society. Traditionally, female family members existed only in terms of
their relationships to men. As daughters, subject to the control and whim of fathers, women
represented a means of economic or political gain through marital arrangements. As wives, they
became their husbands property, and symbols of power and status. Violence against women served
to coerce their acquiescence in this scheme and perpetuate subservience to male relatives. Legally
permitted abuse of women continued to exist in many Western cultures until the late nineteenth
century. Early Roman societies deemed a wife the property of her husband and therefore subject
to his control. According to early Roman law, a man could beat, divorce, or murder his wife for
offenses committed by her which belittled his honour or threatened his property rights. Roman
society considered enforcement of such rights of control essentially a private matter, and thus
failed to subject the husband to either public scrutiny or disapproval. Both the Old and New
Testament attest to the belief in early teachings in the obedience of women. Indeed, Eve s creation
from the rib of Adam provided an excuse for

Tyson, Timothy B. Blood Done Sign My Name. New York: Broadway Books, 2004.
Timothy B. Tyson, born 1959, had a unique childhood as the son of a Methodist minister who
supported the civil rights movement. He accepted his parents liberal attitude, and struggled to
reconcile it with the society around him that of white supremacy and black oppression. Later, he
attended the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and Emory University for his BA, and
returned to Duke University to earn his PhD in history. He began his teaching career with US
History while attending Duke, then switched to Afro American Studies in 1994. Based on Tyson s
parenting and field of study, it can be expected to be a solid narrative that, while containing signs
of white privilege, gives insight into how people can rise from oppression.

familiar story of racism and set it in a time that was more preoccupied with other news, ending
with an assertion that it s a commentary to the country s recent past. In a Kirkus Review post,
the review spends time establishing Tyson s role in the story and in the story s events, wrapping
up with praise and saying that the book is a reminder of civil rights being a struggle on both
sides. Both online reviews give Tyson more limelight as part of a central idea in the book. They
don t touch on details of how Marrow s trial changed the movement in Oxford, but they do agree
that the book is a powerful revival of the struggling and violent truth that came with civil

reduce tailpipe CO2 emissions. One of the most common application for reducing tailpipe CO2
is using alternative energy sources than gasoline and diesel [1]. In accordance, this paper aims
to present an outline design for a PHEV version of the Ford Focus family hatchback for the UK
Market. 1.1Manufacturer s Corporate Position As quoted in official company page, Ford s
blueprint for sustainability goes beyond improved fuel economy and reduced CO2 emissions to
define sustainability as a business model that creates value by preserving and enhancing
environmental, social and financial capital [2]. This approach confirms an enthusiasm that will
eventually lead to hybrid/electric cars for Ford. Such improvement will mean a lot for UK
market, as Ford is a very strong brand in UK, with Ford Fiesta being the top selling car, while
Ford s C segment representative Focus is in 3rd rank among all competitor models [3].
Additionally, penetrating in electric/hybrid market holds huge potential since 81% of UK
population lives in urban areas [4] which is the already focus market for E.V. electric hybrid car
manufacturers. 1.2Market Status, Market Expectations and Government Support EV range is the
top concern for potential consumers [5], [6] worldwide. Therefore, the range is the most critical

Los Lobos Research Paper
1When Los Lobos perform in concert today, audiences in the thousands cheer them on. It s hard

tunes from the radio. In 1974 four high school friends from East Los Angeles formed Los Lobos

bass guitar, and Louie PГ©rez played drums.
2Like many garage bands, these buddies might have simply gone their separate ways after high

change their musical style and began focusing on traditional Mexican music that reflected their
heritage.

Stargirl Character Analysis
There s a lot of people who are conforming and few people who are individual. Stargirl written by
Jerry Spinelli is the book that is about an individual girl and other conforming students. The main
character of this book is a girl who names Stargirl. She is a new student at the Mika high school
and she is known as a strange girl because she always wears weird outfits and she does not behave
as other students. Spinelli uses characterization and conflict of Stargirlto demonstrate that stay in an
individual is good for people who don t want to disturb by others and to force someone to conform
would disturb their life.
In Stargirl, Spinelli uses characterization of Stargirl to show people should stay individual if they
want to do whatever they want. In the beginning of this book, Spinelli describes Stargirl s
appearance such as clothes that she wears. Spinelli describes her clothes as: Several times in those
early weeks of September, she [showed] up in something outrageous. A 1920s flapperdress. An
Indian buckskin. A kimono (20). This description of her clothes shows that they are not
appropriate for school. Spinelli uses the word outrageous and the specific types of her clothes
such as kimono to describe how her clothes are weird. Here, Spinelli shows her individuality
because no one would wear traditional clothes for another country or dress to school unless there is
some kind of event. On the other hand, in the middle of this story, Spinelli starts to show her

The Old Testament Research Paper
Love is very prevalent throughout both the Old and New Testaments. Some can say it has
evolved, while others say it has only strengthened to be greater love for God s people. In the Old
Testament, there are around 12 various Hebrew words meant to recognize love. Each word also
has its own meaning for the context of which it is used. Romantic loveas is used as one of them. A
prime example includes Jacob and Laban. Jacob desired to marry Rachel because of her beauty and
requested to work for Laban for seven years in order to obtain her hand in marriage(Genesis 29).

The exposure of love is used in the Greek word Agape (Sakenfeld, 2006). Agapao is the verb

were not for this love, things would not be the way that they are today. The term also comprises
the conception of unrestricted love. The writings of the New Testament stood to strengthen the
idea of love from the Old Testament. It was always understood that man might and more than
likely would die for God. But the idea that God would die for man seemed to be unprecedented
and unheard of in the name of love. Love throughout both testaments is something that did evolve,
but in a stronger sense of the world. It was always going to exist, but how it was spoken about in
the New Testament was built on the strong foundation of the Old

affecting the organisms in the rocky shore is the temperature, this is because the temperature of

dependent on dissolved oxygen for their survival in this ecosystem. Another abiotic factor is tidal

this affect his views on marriageand the Christian life? Although the certain scholars believe this is

The French Revolution And The End Of The Nineteenth Century
The French Revolution had general reasons basic to every one of the insurgencies of the West
toward the end of the eighteenth century and specific causes that clarify why it was by a wide
margin the most vicious and the most all around critical of these transformations. The main of
the general reasons was the social structure of the West. The primitive administration had been
debilitated orderly and had as of now vanished in parts of Europe. The inexorably various and
prosperous tip top of well off average citizens vendors, producers, and experts, frequently called
the bourgeoisie sought to political force in those nations where it didn t as of now have it. The
workers, large portions of whom claimed land, had accomplished an enhanced way of life and
instruction and needed to dispose of the last remnants of feudalism to obtain the full privileges of
landowners and to be allowed to expand their possessions. Moreover, from around 1730, higher
expectations for everyday life had diminished the death rate among grown ups impressively. This,
together with different variables, had prompted an expansion in the number of inhabitants in
Europe remarkable for a few centuries: it multiplied somewhere around 1715 and 1800. For France,
which with 26 million occupants in 1789 was the most populated nation of Europe, the issue was
generally intense. Voltaire [Credit: Stock Montage/Hulton Archve/Getty Images]A bigger populace

trick people. We can see many themes in this short story. Examples are cleverness, competition,
lies and dishonesty. The story is in first person point of view. Through a frame narrative, the
narrator, clearly an educated man from the East, presents the story of Jim Smiley, told in Simon
Wheeler s uneducated dialect. i. I really enjoyed reading this piece because although it was written
many years ago, it talks truly about things that continue happening in the present. The author
presents many realism in the story, although using animal to make it more hilarious, the essence of
the story was a reality in things and attitude we see in many people in today s society. In other
words the author uses many characteristics we see in our world like cleverness, competition, lies
and dishonesty. I really enjoyed reading this

Giving the readers the ability to read latest stories and headlines would ensure that they get value
for their money. There is also the ability to search other related stories from the publications.
Having the articles published, searchable by the readers may be by topic, or by the date would be
a plus for the publishing businesses. Something that allows the readers to give their opinions, share
their side of the story and rate the articles would help the publisher know their customers feelings
and reactions to different topics. This is important as it will guide the publishers in establishing the
topics and articles that appeals most with their targeted buyers. The ipad from pressmart has a poll
feature that would help in getting the readers topics of interest.
There is also the feature of Video and Image gallery that allows readers to access images and
videos in a published article. The image can be saved or even sent via email. This enables the
readers to share with their friends and relatives. This creates more awareness about the published
magazine or newspaper. The Social networking ability where a reader can create a digital
community and interact promotes and enlarges the publishers market. The published article could
be viewed in a single page view or in a portrait form. The readers can get on demand delivery of
content on their ipad. This means that they are able to get any article published

The inhabitants of Africa have sparked my curiosity with their unusual actions and supposed
incredulity towards our benevolent race. As such I have monitored the behaviour and actions of the
savage inhabitants to understand ways in which to subdue their barbaric nature, that threatens the

They have evolved in its primitive regions and are well suited to the hot and dangerous country,
however, this evolutionary process follows that of the local wildlife where higher thought has not
been made evident in these people as they engage in primitive rituals in which they murder each
other as well as their children. One cannot expect them to reach the level of sophistication that the
Western man has obtained.
Despite the often savage and barbaric behaviour of the primitive, I believe that they can be broken
into their rightful roles. In the words of Thomas More, You wouldn t abandon a ship in a storm just
because you couldn t control the winds, from the aptly named book Utopia.
The limitless power of holding such a position in the eyes of these gullible yet potentially useful
creatures if used in a manner befitting of their position. These people hold the key to establishing
sophisticated civilization for everybody around the globe and allow the human race to transcend
from these base forms. These people present themselves in a manner as willing to accept the
perception of them as barbaric, most likely due to their unyielding connection with the land and the
wildlife. To remove their land and rituals, would be to remove an amount of meaning from their
supposedly dull lives. Since occupying Africa I have discovered that they have the potential to work
in a symbiotic relationship with society in that they would perform mundane tasks

Drinking College Campuses
Every year, approximately 6,000 to 22,000 students die on college and University campuses (qtd. in
CintroГЊn X), and thousands of these deaths can be attributed to alcohol over consumption (A
Sober Assessment of High Risk Drinking on College Campuses). If there are not appropriate steps
taken to address the situation, minors will continue to lose their lives as a result. As individuals
enter college, it is likely that they will be exposed to alcohol, whether they meet the legal drinking
age or do not. Many of these college students, specifically freshmen, are experiencing freedom for
the first time in their lives and it can be relatively easy for them to get carried away, resulting in

What Is Porter s Five Forces In Airline Industry
1)Bargaining power of Supplier
Power rests with the suppliers in the form of price and quality of supplies. Suppliers can increase
the price or lower the quality of their goods and services. The power of supplier in the Indian
airline industry is immense because of the three major inputs from the supplier are all affected by
the external environment. These 3 factors and the power of supplier for each component is
explained below.
a)Aircraft
The airline industry needs aircraft either on outright sale or lease basis.
It is difficult to enter into the plane manufacturing industry because of the capital needed to enter.
The amount of money and expertise needed to make even one plane is around 200 million dollars.
For this reason, there are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
2)Bargaining power of buyers
Buyers are usually customers and customers if powerful have the ability to reduce prices, ask for
high quality products and services. In the Indian airline industry, the bargaining power of buyers
is high and is increasing as there are lots of airlines to choose from and there are hardly any
switching costs. Moreover, there are lots of travel agents and customers can now buy ticket online
from even intermediaries. Therefore, they do not really have to stick to one airline and this
increases the power of the customers.
3)Threat of new entrants
A lucrative industry is always a target for investors looking at investment. One of the foremost
factors in consideration while looking at the attractiveness of an industry is the threat of new
entrants. In the airlines industry, this was a major threat a few years ago. The airlines operating
in the industry were limited and the industry had few players like Indian Airlines and Jet
Airways. However, as the industry had scope for accommodating more players, many players
joined the fray. The airlines industry however comes with its fair share of barriers. The investment
in the airlines is very huge and acts as a major barrier to entry. Bundled with it were different
permits for running an airline company from the civil aviation company and FDI

Historical Analysis
Christopher Marlowe born in Canterbury, England his exact birth date is not known which why
it is based when he received his baptism in 1564. Marlowe was a poet and playwright who was
very prominent in the dramatic renaissance in the 16th century. Marlowe was a University
graduate with a bachelor s of arts. He tried to obtain his Masters, but the University gave him a
hard time in doing so. His first plays were performed in the late 1580 s and were quite successful
in Elizabethan Theatre. Near the end of his life, Marlow got in trouble with the law when he
was accused of a crime; the crime being atheism and blasphemy. He was later killed during a
fight in 1593 by Ingram Frizer when he stabbed him in the forehead. Marlowe was a very young
playwright for his time. Because he died at age 29, his literary career lasted less than six years. Dr.
Faustus was his most popular written work which ensured his legacy for centuries to come. His
influences and inspirations for the tragedy of Faustus were based on older German legends. The
origin of Faustus came from a Latin term which meant fortunate or lucky. It was also rumored
that Faustus was the brother in law to the devil. The play was written in blank verse and pros,
which became popular by Marlow himself. Marlow s work is the first time the tale was told in play
form because it took the legend and used it to it

Reaction Paper On Bungee Jumping
пїјFINAL
Dante Mattson 11 Physics
28 August 2014
!
Bungee Jumping is an extreme sport, it requires the participant to jump from a bridge, crane or
other high place while secured at the ankles with a nylon cased rubber band. From the mere sight
of someone Bungee Jumping, one might assume that the act is very dangerous for obvious
reasons, for example: The rope breaking there s nothing to save you down there, so why do so
many people put their lives in a piece of elastic? Bungee Jumping relies on the restoring force of the
elastic to protect the jumper from the fall below. Because of the Law of Conservation of Energy, the
gravitational potential energy at the top of the jump is converted to elastic potential energy at the
bottom of the jump. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It would show that it would potentially be life threatening to use the wrong material in real
bungee jumping. It was proven that the elastic based cord (green) would be most suitable for
bungee jumping. This is because the force exerted is more spaced out, and allows for a softer
drop to equilibrium, rather than a violent, potentially deadly faster stop. The gradual restoring
force is essential to bungee jumping. To come to a safe stop, restoring force is needed. Without
said force, the force of the person jumping would be applied directly to the rope / elastic, causing
it to potentially break and the person to fall. The rebound phase, consisting of dampened
oscillatory motion, safely decreases the velocity of the jumper. The Galilean paradigm of the
motion of constant masses, states every acceleration must be produced by a force. Bungee
jumping is proof of this physics concept. When the person jumps, the gravity produces
acceleration on the body, forcing the person down, and the rope attached with it. The restoring
oscillations act upon the body to dampen the downwards forces. Because the Hooke s Law
equation will deviate when the elastic fails, at a certain applied force; as materials cannot be
compressed beyond a minimum size, or extended beyond a maximum size. The modern theory of
elasticity generalises to state that the strain or deformation of an elastic material is proportional
to the stress applied to it. Hooke s Law is crucial to this EEI because Hooke s Law calculates the
extension of an elastic material from the spring constant (k) and the change in x, also known as
∆x and will determine the safest alternative for use in Bungee

Basic Methods Of Access Control
Abstract
Physical security entails restricting physical access to controlled buildings, installations,
information, facilities, and personnel by unauthorized individuals. Access control may prevent
potential intruders, delay or frustrate intruders, and monitor and detect intruders. These methods are
classified under physical barriers, perimeter security, identification systems, and electronic
/mechanical barriers. Different methods of access control can be designed to respond to different
physical security needs. However, it is worth to note that no stand alone method of access control is
effective and thus to improve effectiveness and performance, two or more methods should be used
in combination. This paper examines various methods of access control and their effectiveness in
relation to the physical security.
Introduction Controlling access is an important component of physical security to protect assets and
material resources. Making sure that only authorized vehicles, items, and people enter and exit
defined areas minimizes the risk of harm or loss to all assets (Fennelly, 2012). Physical security
entails security measures which are tailored to deny an unauthorized access to material resources,
such as buildings, critical installations, personnel, and information from terrorism, espionage, and
other criminal activities. Physical protection of material resources is intended to prevent potential
intruders, detect intruders, and trigger apt incident

The Development Of A Group
Group development The development of a group normally goes through the following stages
(Tuckman 1965) There must be interaction between individuals in order for them to be classified
as a group. This is characterised by communication over a period of time. The individuals need to
get on (interpersonal attraction) and there needs to be some form of collective identity the
members of the group must perceive themselves to be a distinct unit that is different to other
groups. The group must have shared goals, targets, norms and values, and be prepared to achieve
these goals collectively. All of these characteristics are common in teams, but there are some key
differences between a group and a team. Forming During the forming stage, group members
familiarise themselves with other group members, get to know each other and try to decide if they
belong in that group. During this stage, group members start to assess the strengths and weaknesses
of other members, and start to test their relationships with others in the group. Individuals will get
to know their roles within the group and will make decisions about whether or not they feel they
can fulfil (or want to fulfil) their role within the group. Formal leaders in the group tend to be
directive during the forming stage. Storming During the storming stage, conflict begins to develop
between individuals in the group. It is common for individuals or cliques to start to question the
position and authority of the leader, and

Residential Paintings
As a homeowner there is nothing more exciting than the idea of painting your home yourself. A
fresh coat of paint makes everything look so much better right? You can choose colors for the
inside or the outside and just get to work! Maybe you will even use a paint sprayer because they
look like they get the job done fast!
Are you out of your mind? Have you thought about the work involved, especially if you are
considering doing your own exterior painting? All of the scraping and cleaning that needs to be
done, the preparation for laying on a new coat of paint and the small repairs that are going to be
inevitable are going to be your job. If you have experience, and time then go ahead and jump right
in there and get that job done. If you don t have any experience it might be time to think about
painting services. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A reputable painting company should be able to provide these.
Find out if they are experienced with house painting. Residential painting is very different from
commercial. If you need interior painting, make sure to specify. Talk to people who have had
similar jobs done for them. This is a great way to find a good painting service.
Ask for what materials and paint they are using. Make sure everything is quality. Quality lasts
longer and always makes for a much better finished product no matter what the painters skill.
Ask about a warranty! These are worth the money as they often deal with touch ups and other paint
issues inside and outside of your home. This can save you a lot of stress in the future.
If you have any other concerns such as environmental friendliness then it is up to you to ask
pertinent questions. You are the customer, and you are inquiring about purchasing their services
which should be reputable and consistent. Ask for a list of the products they plan to use on your
home. If you do not like their selections, you can always supply your own

If you think about it the Challenger is a huge part of muscle car history. It s been in a couple

that Dodge called the Skat Pack in the 1970s. But my opinion on which is better is that the older

that is the 426 Hemi or you could get this straight six 145 and anything in between but still the
car itself you could get this Skat Pack on your Challenger and it would be basically a whole new

new Hellcat Challenger. The 2015 2016 Hellcat Challenger is way better then like any of the

Biography of Ernest Hemingway Essay
Biography of Ernest Hemingway
Certainly there is no hunting like the hunting of man and those who have hunted armed men long
enough and liked it, never really care for anything else thereafter. You will meet them doing various
things with resolve, but their interest rarely holds because after the other thing ordinary life is as
flat as the taste of wine when the taste buds have been burned off your tongue. ( On the Blue Water
in Esquire, April 1936)
A legendary novelist, short story writer and essayist Ernest Miller Hemingway was born on July 21,

After Hemingway s depression he was sent to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. There he
received electroshock therapy that impaired his memory and stripped from him the concentration
to write. Hemingway also lost the ability to do other things he so loved like fish and hunt. So
perhaps he killed himself because Ernest Hemingway could no longer be Ernest Hemingway.
2. Hemingway s works
Ernest Hemingway started his career as a writer in a newspaper office in Kansas City at the age
of seventeen. Here he learned to get to the heart of a story with direct, simple sentences. After the
United States entered the First World War, he joined a volunteer ambulance unit in the Italian
army. Here he was wounded near the Italian/Austrian front. Hospitalized, he fell in love with his
nurse, who later called off their relationship. After his return to the United States, he became a
reporter for Canadian and American newspapers and was soon sent back to Europe to cover such
events as the Greek Revolution. During the twenties, Hemingway became a member of the group
of expatriate Americans in Paris, which he described in his first important work The Sun Also
Rises (1926). After the World War I, Hemingway lived in Chicago. There, he met Sherwood
Andersen and married Hadley Richardson in 1921. On Andersen s advice, the

Maintaining Luciano Benetton s ability to transform sweaters into messages, shirts into signs, and
jeans into signifiers, the company sought out an artist, not an advertiser who respected the rules of
traditional marketing . Benetton hired Oliviero Toscani, a photographer who has earned
recognition from his edgy photography style. Toscani chose to use print and poster as his media, a
very unusual advertising decision for a clothing company. In addition, because television
advertisements historically have cost retailers up to 62% of their advertising budgets, Benetton
initially refused to promote itself on television. They later agreed to do so only on specific
networks outside of Italy, such as MTV in the U.S.2
At the heart of Toscani s basic advertising and marketing strategy was what he often referred to as a
communications strategy based on the diversity focused slogan integrated into the United Colors of
Benetton Campaigns. With this theme of unification, Toscani chose to transform advertising into
news, paying close attention to current events.2 Because Benetton s clothes were sold around the
world, the expenses incurred to tailor campaigns to specific national markets would have been
enormous. To reduce these high costs, Toscani attempted to bring the world s markets together by
using a single advertisement that would appeal to many cultures, races,

First, various online dating sites were considered and narrowed down to three possible choices: eHarmony, Match.com, and Christian Mingle. Three ideas were brought forth regarding which site to analyse in order to determine which sites could potentially hold more issues and which site had sufficient content to be analyzed effectively. Next in the process, eHarmony was chosen as the site that would be the target for analysis. eHarmony is a very popular dating site and is well known due to their numerous infomercials and online advertisements and thus presents a great opportunity to examine the elements involved in a formal and well designed user agreement. Following the choosing of a site, a copy of the user agreement from eHarmony was obtained and given an initial review. This step acted as the first run through of the agreement, which involved identifying possible legal issues in the clauses, highlighting important points form each clause, and gaining a general understanding of the agreement. The agreement consisted of two separate documents titled Privacy Policy and Terms of Service , each outlining the obligations of the company and the customer respectively. In addition, an examination of the actual purpose and requirements of the assignment was carried out.

Leather and rope was also used to hold the wooden V s to each other. The spokes were composed of two halves, this would form a hexagonal star. While most wheels consisted of four pieces of wood bent into V s the Egyptians developed the six V wheels. This was not as strong but was faster and lighter. Which proved to be more efficient in the sandy lands. While the chariots were not in used the wheels were removed because the weight of the chariot would bend them into ovals. The process of creating the chariot took much longer than the wheels. They would use light but strong wood on the platform and sometimes leather. The sides were then composed of wooden bars and wrapped in leather and stucco. This would make the outer rim strong and able to resist and arrow. Tweed and Tom Poppell were two political bosses who resemble each other immensely. They both came into power by controlling a group of people and used their votes in their favor. They were corrupt people in power who the media was trying to shine a light on to take down. Though one of them you could say was a racist and they handled the media in different ways, they were always only in it for the money. Tom Poppell was a sheriff in Georgia s county of McIntosh. • 8. Analysis Of I Died For Beauty The poem that I have chosen to analyse is I Died for Beauty but was Scarce by Emily Dickinson. This poem is one of Emily Dickinson s most well known poems and it only includes 12 lines and 3 stanzas. It is an allegorical and metaphorical piece of work that portrays the speaker who died for Beauty while the man beside gave up his life for Truth . This simple and straightforward poem, written in first person, mainly explores the theme deathbut then also shows beauty and truth through Dickinson s choice of words. Although this poem is daunting and frightening, it is also definitely fascinating and truthful. The first stanza is about the speaker dying for Beauty . It seems that he (we can conclude that the speaker is a he from the poem s later mention of Brethren and Kinsmen ) must have been loved before and had a proper burial. But just before he gets comfortable or can get Adjusted into the Tomb and left alone for too long, he is accompanied by a deceased man who died for Truth in a tomb next to him. The theme death is brought in by the words Tomb and died . Dickinson also used the word scarce to show the reader that it is uncommon to find someone who believes that it is worth dying for beauty too. In the first stanza, the rhyme scheme ABCB is present but this rhyme scheme is only found in stanza one. Emily Dickinson capitalised some of the nouns used in her poem. I believe she did this to show that these words carry deep meaningfulness to this poem. She ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. The Very Different Ruling Styles of Augustus Caesar and... Two of the more memorable emperors to the Romans were Augustus Caesar (27 BC to 14 AD), and Caligula (37 AD to 41 AD). Although only having ruled the empire by a separation of 23 years and belonging to the same family (through marriage and adoption), their empires couldn t have been more different. It is possible to determine the impact of an emperor s rule based on their many vices and virtues, as well as the choices that they make in relation to them. The author Suetonius expressed in his writings the many vices and virtues that put into perspective the kind of leaders that these emperors appeared as to their polis. As we explore the concept of vices and virtues, as well as what kind of ideals these two rulers represented, we will begin to be presented with a clearer picture of what an ideal emperor would have looked like. A vice can be described as an immoral or wicked behavior; while a virtue can be described as a behavior showing high moral standards. Suetonius and the Roman people had a high interpretation of the concept of virtue and vice, as well as their role in the ruler s life. When discussing Augustus and Caligula it is simple to bring up the subject of public works and law. Augustus had the most success with his many projects, including the Temple of Mars the Avenger, the Palatine Temple of Apollo, and the Temple of Jupiter the Thunderer on the Capitol. Many colonnade, basilica, and theater were erected and named after relatives. He urged many renowned ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Rhetorical Analysis Of Attack Of The Zombies By Rodney Clapp The Life of a Zombie Rodney Clapp, writer, editor for Wipf and Stock Publishers and expert in topics such as theology and culture, in the article, Attack of the Zombies , argues that many things in life are beginning to resemble zombies. Clapp assumes that the audience also views zombies as lifeless creatures that go around spreading their disease. The author s purpose is to persuade the audience to believe that many things they see today are starting to resemble zombies. The author writes in a challenging tone for people who question the similarity of zombies to every day life. Clapp supports his argument by comparing and contrasting, and exemplification. Clapp assumes that the audience sees zombies as creatures that serve no purpose, but to spread their contagion. He refers to this in his article when asking the questions of what would you do if a loved one was turned into a zombie. This scenario is hard to choose between because it makes the audience feel challenged on what they would do in a situation like that. Accounting Minefields Essay Tread Lightly through These Accounting Minefields Tremendous pressure is placed upon accountants and executives to provide favorable financial conditions of their organization (Sherman Young, 2001). As such, accounting practices are continually a source of question and concern for many organizations in reporting profits and corporate financial information to shareholders, stock markets, and government filings. Hence, the role of the ethical accountant and executives becomes crucial to the continued success and operation of the organization. Consequently, pitfalls or minefields of questionable accounting practices must be avoided. Said pitfalls include revenue measurement and recognition, provisions for uncertain future costs, asset valuation, derivatives, related party transactions, and information utilized in bench marking performance (Sherman Young, 2001). While impossible to fully eradicate the occurrence of questionable, unethical or illegal accounting practices regarding accounting minefields, organizations must implement procedures, controls, and culture to minimize the potential of such practices occurring within their establishments. There are three main frequencies used in analogue radio amplitude modulation, frequency modulation and short wave. At first, Amplitude modulation or AM was the dominant frequency, however, people found that the quality was poor particularly during the night. FM or frequency modulation soon took over as the preferred frequency as the sound quality was better and there was no interference day or night (Chignell, 2009). For FM radio, they also found that the potential geographical reach could be manipulated by altering the amount of power going into the transmitter. For example, a 100,000 watt transmitter could reach an area with a radius of 104 kilometres whereas a 50,000 watt transmitter could only reach an area with a radius of 72 kilometres (Chignell, 2009). In order to assess the extent to which they have provided this it will require an assessment of the Overriding objective of the CPR, the use of pro action protocols, and an analysis of judicial case management. Assessing these parts of the CPR will enable an evaluation of whether the CPR emphasis in preparing cases for settlement, instead of preparing cases for trial, may have caused a quicker and more effective mechanism for settling disputes. The CPR were introduced in 1998 with an accompanying practice direction. They were introduced after Lord Woolf s Access to Justice Report which stated that the Civil Justice system had problems of cost, delays and complexity which has created an injustice to the Civil Justice system . However, in the Tell Tale Heart and the Raven, the motif that is commonly used is the unnamed narrator. The plot of the story revolves around the motif of the eye and it also gives justification for the narrator to kill the old man. Similarly, in The Pit and the Pendulum, the eye motif is utilized as the driving force of the plot and affects the reader. The narrator of the story is captured by an inquisitorial group and is tortured. In the story, I (the narrator) had scarcely stepped away from the bed of horror when the hellish machine stopped. I saw it being pulled up through the ceiling by some invisible force (Poe 145). Once the narrator narrowly escapes from the brutal slaying, immediately, the pendulum stops moving. Starting and stopping the pendulum was done by inquisitors who serve as eyes for the cult leader. Again, the plot action of this story is dependent on the eye motif. When the narrator escapes from the binding, new problems arise for the narrator because the people who were watching him (the eyes) immediately executed their next backup plan. According to the text, after the pendulum stopped, I (The narrator) shrank from the glowing metal to the center of the cell. I thought of the fiery destruction that was near (Poe 156). The narrator needs to escape from the constant back up methods of torture implemented by the tormentors. Back to back tortures caused by the inquisitors drive the story forward. In addition, this constant escape also affects the reader as well. The eye (inquisitors) is the reason for deploying ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. A Violent Society Causes Domestic Violence Essay People who are close to one another need to trust each other. We should trust our parents not to hurt us, and to give us what we need to grow. When someone is abused, the trust is broken. Domestic violence is the use of physical force within a home in any form of abuse. Abuse can be a whole range of physical behaviour, slapping, hitting, beating, or using weapons to hurt someone. It includes verbal and emotional abuse, where someone is constantly insulted and made to feel sad and worthless. It can also include rape and sexual abuse. Sexual abuse is when someone forces another to have sexual intercourse or do other sexual things against their will. Another form of abuse is total control where one adult makes all the decisions for another... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Widespread belief that women were intellectually inferior to men led most societies to limit women s education to learning domestic skills. Well educated, upper class men controlled most positions of employment and power in society. Traditionally, female family members existed only in terms of their relationships to men. As daughters, subject to the control and whim of fathers, women represented a means of economic or political gain through marital arrangements. As wives, they became their husbands property, and symbols of power and status. Violence against women served to coerce their acquiescence in this scheme and perpetuate subservience to male relatives. Legally permitted abuse of women continued to exist in many Western cultures until the late nineteenth century. Early Roman societies deemed a wife the property of her husband and therefore subject to his control. According to early Roman law, a man could beat, divorce, or murder his wife for offenses committed by her which belittled his honour or threatened his property rights. Roman society considered enforcement of such rights of control essentially a private matter, and thus failed to subject the husband to either public scrutiny or disapproval. Both the Old and New Testament attest to the belief in early teachings in the obedience of women. Indeed, Eve s creation from the rib of Adam provided an excuse for ... Tyson, born 1959, had a unique childhood as the son of a Methodist minister who supported the civil rights movement. He accepted his parents liberal attitude, and struggled to reconcile it with the society around him that of white supremacy and black oppression. Later, he attended the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and Emory University for his BA, and returned to Duke University to earn his PhD in history. He began his teaching career with US History while attending Duke, then switched to Afro American Studies in 1994. • 37. Stargirl Character Analysis There s a lot of people who are conforming and few people who are individual. Stargirl written by Jerry Spinelli is the book that is about an individual girl and other conforming students. The main character of this book is a girl who names Stargirl. She is a new student at the Mika high school and she is known as a strange girl because she always wears weird outfits and she does not behave as other students. Spinelli uses characterization and conflict of Stargirlto demonstrate that stay in an individual is good for people who don t want to disturb by others and to force someone to conform would disturb their life. In Stargirl, Spinelli uses characterization of Stargirl to show people should stay individual if they want to do whatever they want. In the beginning of this book, Spinelli describes Stargirl s appearance such as clothes that she wears. Spinelli describes her clothes as: Several times in those early weeks of September, she [showed] up in something outrageous. A 1920s flapperdress. An Indian buckskin. A kimono (20). This description of her clothes shows that they are not appropriate for school. Spinelli uses the word outrageous and the specific types of her clothes such as kimono to describe how her clothes are weird. Christopher Faustus Analysis Briseida Garcia Independent Study Theatre History 2 Dr. Terry Donovan Smith November 2, 2017 Historical Analysis Christopher Marlowe born in Canterbury, England his exact birth date is not known which why it is based when he received his baptism in 1564. Marlowe was a poet and playwright who was very prominent in the dramatic renaissance in the 16th century. Marlowe was a University graduate with a bachelor s of arts. He tried to obtain his Masters, but the University gave him a hard time in doing so. His first plays were performed in the late 1580 s and were quite successful in Elizabethan Theatre. Near the end of his life, Marlow got in trouble with the law when he was accused of a crime; the crime being atheism and blasphemy. He was later killed during a fight in 1593 by Ingram Frizer when he stabbed him in the forehead. Marlowe was a very young playwright for his time. Because he died at age 29, his literary career lasted less than six years. Dr. Faustus was his most popular written work which ensured his legacy for centuries to come. His influences and inspirations for the tragedy of Faustus were based on older German legends. The origin of Faustus came from a Latin term which meant fortunate or lucky. From the mere sight of someone Bungee Jumping, one might assume that the act is very dangerous for obvious reasons, for example: The rope breaking there s nothing to save you down there, so why do so many people put their lives in a piece of elastic? Bungee Jumping relies on the restoring force of the elastic to protect the jumper from the fall below. Because of the Law of Conservation of Energy, the gravitational potential energy at the top of the jump is converted to elastic potential energy at the bottom of the jump. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It would show that it would potentially be life threatening to use the wrong material in real bungee jumping. It was proven that the elastic based cord (green) would be most suitable for bungee jumping. This is because the force exerted is more spaced out, and allows for a softer drop to equilibrium, rather than a violent, potentially deadly faster stop. The gradual restoring force is essential to bungee jumping. To come to a safe stop, restoring force is needed. Without said force, the force of the person jumping would be applied directly to the rope / elastic, causing it to potentially break and the person to fall. The rebound phase, consisting of dampened oscillatory motion, safely decreases the velocity of the jumper. The Galilean paradigm of the motion of constant masses, states every acceleration must be produced by a force. Bungee jumping is proof of this physics concept. When the person jumps, the gravity produces acceleration on the body, forcing the person down, and the rope attached with it. The restoring oscillations act upon the body to dampen the downwards forces. Because the Hooke s Law equation will deviate when the elastic fails, at a certain applied force; as materials cannot be compressed beyond a minimum size, or extended beyond a maximum size. The modern theory of elasticity generalises to state that the strain or deformation of an elastic material is proportional to the stress applied to it. • 52. Basic Methods Of Access Control Abstract Physical security entails restricting physical access to controlled buildings, installations, information, facilities, and personnel by unauthorized individuals. Access control may prevent potential intruders, delay or frustrate intruders, and monitor and detect intruders. These methods are classified under physical barriers, perimeter security, identification systems, and electronic /mechanical barriers. Different methods of access control can be designed to respond to different physical security needs. However, it is worth to note that no stand alone method of access control is effective and thus to improve effectiveness and performance, two or more methods should be used in combination. This paper examines various methods of access control and their effectiveness in relation to the physical security. • 53. The Development Of A Group Group development The development of a group normally goes through the following stages (Tuckman 1965) There must be interaction between individuals in order for them to be classified as a group. This is characterised by communication over a period of time. The individuals need to get on (interpersonal attraction) and there needs to be some form of collective identity the members of the group must perceive themselves to be a distinct unit that is different to other groups. The group must have shared goals, targets, norms and values, and be prepared to achieve these goals collectively. All of these characteristics are common in teams, but there are some key differences between a group and a team. Forming During the forming stage, group members familiarise themselves with other group members, get to know each other and try to decide if they belong in that group. During this stage, group members start to assess the strengths and weaknesses of other members, and start to test their relationships with others in the group. Individuals will get to know their roles within the group and will make decisions about whether or not they feel they can fulfil (or want to fulfil) their role within the group. Formal leaders in the group tend to be directive during the forming stage. Storming During the storming stage, conflict begins to develop between individuals in the group. It is common for individuals or cliques to start to question the position and authority of the leader, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Maintaining Luciano Benetton s ability to transform sweaters into messages, shirts into signs, and jeans into signifiers, the company sought out an artist, not an advertiser who respected the rules of traditional marketing . Benetton hired Oliviero Toscani, a photographer who has earned recognition from his edgy photography style. Toscani chose to use print and poster as his media, a very unusual advertising decision for a clothing company. In addition, because television advertisements historically have cost retailers up to 62% of their advertising budgets, Benetton initially refused to promote itself on television. They later agreed to do so only on specific networks outside of Italy, such as MTV in the U.S.2 At the heart of Toscani s basic advertising and marketing strategy was what he often referred to as a communications strategy based on the diversity focused slogan integrated into the United Colors of Benetton Campaigns. With this theme of unification, Toscani chose to transform advertising into news, paying close attention to current events.2 Because Benetton s clothes were sold around the world, the expenses incurred to tailor campaigns to specific national markets would have been enormous.
