This document proposes using e-training/online training for hospital employees to meet continuing education requirements. It notes hospitals have large staffs so efficient remote training is needed. E-training allows employees to learn at their own pace and access materials anytime. It discusses applying adult learning theories of behaviorism, cognitivism and constructionism to e-learning. Social media can motivate learners but also raises ethics issues like privacy, identity and academic integrity that must be addressed. Relevant competencies for managing an e-training program are also outlined.
