During this course, I have completed a needs analysis, researched
multimedia, and created a storyboard to create a web-based tutorial for my workplace.
This web-based tutorial is being created based upon the results of the needs analysis.
The needs analysis determined that a web-based tutorial is the optimal choice for
ensuring awareness of the policies and policies and consistent and fair selection

The purpose of the web-based tutorial is to address inconsistencies, confusion,
and negative feedback regarding the recruitment and selection process. This tutorial is
designed to educate hiring managers to ensure that the recruitment and selection
process is consistent and fair. Upon completion, the student will be able to demonstrate
awareness of the process and expectations of the recruitment and selection process.
Although the target audience for this course is hiring managers, the tutorial may be
used for other individuals involved in the recruitment and selection process (i.e.,
supervisors, members of the interview panel). This training will consider new hiring
managers and experienced hiring managers who may be interested in a refresher. The
performance-based objectives are (1) given a scenario the student will be able to apply
all applicable policies, procedures, and guidelines with 80% accuracy, (2) given a role-
play event the student will be able to conduct a selection process that is free from
discrimination, and (3) given an inquiry the student will be able to state the 2 main ideas
in the selection process with exactness.
The variety of technology skills and learning types has been considered in the
tutorial. Multimedia was incorporated to enhance student comprehension and reduce

barriers. The multimedia used includes hypermedia, audio/video, and graphics.
Considering the multitude of technology skills, the tutorial is user friendly with the ease
of navigation and accessibility to resources. The ease of use and compatibility make the
learning experience more comfortable and a safer more efficient learning environment.
It was imperative to create a tutorial that is relatable and necessary for the
student. With that in mind, the learning experience is geared toward student
achievement and knowledge obtainment. The pretraining and segmentation concepts
were used to toward student achievement and knowledge obtainment. Pretraining
provides an introduction to a lesson using basic information to manage the processing
of complex material. This was exhibited by defining what recruitment and selection are
before discussing the more complex information (legal mandates, discrimination, and
company guidelines). Segmentation was also used to breaking up large amounts of
information into smaller more manageable parts to prevent a cognitive system overload
for the student.
A summative assessment was incorporated in the tutorial to assess learning.
Students are then provided with explanatory feedback to create a “teachable moment”
to give the student an explanation of what they got wrong and why. Explanatory
feedback should be provided in an e-learning environment whenever possible. The
student benefits because he or she may receive step-by-step feedback on solving a
problem, focuses on the feedback, and makes improvement the focus.
The tutorial will benefit the students by making him or her aware and compliant
with applicable federal and corporate policies and procedures. This will result in a

decentralized process, decreased frustration, an increase in hiring flexibility, and a
shorter, yet efficient process.
