Career Plan For A Professional Development Plan
Professional Development Plan The purpose of this professional development plan is to introduce my
counselor identity, my plans for professional development, my clinical and academic training schedule
and finally my plans for credentialing in the State of Maryland. I am currently seeking an MS in
Clinical Mental Health Counseling with an anticipated graduation date of May, 2020. This
professional development plan was written on September 27, 2017.
Counselor Identity Statement I accept those around me for who they are and the goals they are trying
to obtain. I am committed to helping those seeking new patterns in their way of thinking. I will seek
understanding and knowledge of the world around me and use my voice to help those ... Show more

Leadership opportunities in my local area would include organizing volunteer opportunities at the
local shelter, VA center or in the school system. The economic climate of my community is poor, and
any free benefits that can be provided are welcomed. In this semester, I have begun to study the ACA
Code of Ethics; this will be an on going process with an estimated accomplishment date before
starting my first counseling practicum in Quarter 9 (Walden University, 2017).
Associations/Continuing Education Classes/Potential Struggles
Associations I plan to join would be the American Counseling Association, Licensed Clinical
Professional Counseling of Maryland, and the American Mental Health Counselors Association. I plan
to join these organizations after I complete Residency Number One. Continuing education
opportunities I intend to engage in after graduation would include anything available in my tri state
area. I think any knowledge that I can obtain is beneficial to my counselor identity and worldview. A
potential struggle that I will encounter over the course of my education and start of my career will be
time management issues. My kids come first and foremost, and I do not want to miss any of their
events. I believe with my educational demands and the possibility of working later evenings after
starting my career could impact my availability to my children. This issue could affect my academic
career by not being

Characteristics Of Identical Twins
In our opinion, twins reared in different conditions will display some of the same traits. However, it
depends on certain aspects as well. To start off, Twin studies are a significant tool to investigate the
nature versus nurture argument. Identical twins, or monozygotic twins, are siblings that have the exact
same genotypes whereas fraternal twins are dizygotic twins that only share half of their genes
together. Fraternal twins are similar to siblings, except they have of the exact age. As Plomin, DeFries,
McClearn, and Rutter (1997) stated that if one twin has dark hair, then the other twin has dark hair as
well; where the concept of identical genes would ideally distribute itself towards the phenotypes of
behavior and personality of identical twins .
Twins reared in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Parents who dress their twins up in the same outfits or get them the same set of toys does not
contribute to twins who have the same traits. It shows that a common environment does not give much
impact in developing personalities. Mischel (1981) has also attested to this issue saying that genes and
glands are different, but social learning plays a dramatic role. People develop vast differences through
the stimuli they face in their daily life. Despite being reared in the same environment (their home),
both twins could have had different sets of friends. Thus, going through their school years having
different experiences and facing different challenges. As a whole they will have completely different
hobbies and interests.
Hence, we think that twins will display the same trait even though they were brought up in different
environments because traits have more to do with genetics rather than environment. Which is why
identical twins are more similar when compared to fraternal twins despite both being reared apart.
This is due to the higher similarity in genetic makeup for identical twins when compared to fraternal

A Report On Safety Management
1 Introduction
Safety management is simply applying principles, framework, processes and measures to prevent
accidents, injuries and reduce the risk. It is that system which exists to help managers in better
accomplishing their responsibilities for operations that design through either the prediction of system s
failures before errors occur or the identification and correction of system s failures by analyzing safety
occurrences. The safety management has to be supported the top management; it must be a priority for

Improving the safety performance and reducing the exposure to a wide range of risks are the aims of
the safety management.
By implementing the system has to lead an overall of the company safety process. We can classify the
hazard during the aviation operation into:
Natural hazard: wind.
Economic hazard: Company facing recession
Technical hazard. SMS provides a systematic way to identify hazards and control risks while
maintaining assurance that these risks controls are effective.
Safety can be defined as: risk reduction to a level that is as low as is been practicable.
There are three components for adopting a safety management system these are ethical, legal and
financial.
To address these three important elements, an effective SMS should:
Define how the employer set up to manage risk. Identify workplace risk Implement effective
communications level across the work place.

Governess And Ninny
When comparing The Ninny and The Governess , the reader can see the similarities and differences in
the text. In both text the author created the characters to have the same qualities. On the other hand,
the author of The Ninny created one of the main characters, which was the employer as a man, while
in The Governess the author created the employer as a woman. In both of the short stories, there are
many similarities. Both of the employers make notes about what they need to take money away for.
Simon states, But I made a note of it. Why would I make a note of it if I didn t give it to you? (179),
this quotation is showing how the mistress made a note to take away money. Also, in the two short
stories, the two working girls began to cry because of the way they are being treated. Lastly, the
employers both get mad at their workers for not speaking up for themselves and having low
confidence. Together, The Ninny and The Governess are similar in many different ways. ... Show

One difference that they both have is the genres. The Ninny is realistic fiction, meaning it can happen
in real life, and The Governess is a drama, meaning it is a play for theater. In The Ninny , the
employer was going to pay at the end a total of eleven rubles. On the other hand, in The Governess ,
the employer was going to pay at the end a total of ten rubles. The text states, Take three from
fourteen. That leaves eleven, (175). Neil Simon states on page 180, Ten Rubles will be fine. The two
textual evidence I have provided shows how the employers gave a different amount of money. Another
difference from the short stories is what is stolen from Vayna. In The Ninny , Vayna s boots were

Research Paper On Fetal Alcohol Syndrome
FETAL ALCOHOL SYNDROME INFANT LEARNING DISABILITIES
Fetal alcohol syndrome is a condition which occurs in infants whose mothers abuse alcohol during
pregnancy. This problem has gathered the increasing attention of the medical establishment in recent
years. Although it is difficult to properly diagnose in the newborn infant, studies have shown that fetal
alcohol syndrome results in a number of mental and physical symptoms, such as below normal birth
weight, length, and I.Q. Children born with the syndrome are also found to have a number of learning
disabilities. Some of these disabilities are related to nursing, and thus they can seriously affect the life
and health of the newborn, and may cause nutritional problems which will in turn affect ... Show more

Approximately one fourth of all infants born with recognizable defects die before they even reach the
age of four weeks (Abel Sokol, 1986, p. 330). Among those who do survive past the first few weeks, it
has been noted that . . . only a suspicion [of fetal alcohol syndrome) can be raised at this early age
(Aronson Olegard, 1985, p. 137). Thus, the real impact of fetal alcohol syndrome often cannot be
determined until the infant s development has been observed for at least one to two years. Some
studies have indicated that the results of tests administered to learning disabled children at the age of
three tend to yield similar results to those of tests given to the same children at the ages of ten months
and eighteen months (Aronson Olegard, 1985, p. 143). However, it has also been stated that many of
the most serious learning disabilities associated with the syndrome cannot be recognized until after the
child has already begun attending school (Abel Sokol, 1986, p.

Huck Finn Should Not Be Banned Essay
The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, is about a boy who sets out on an adventure that leads him away
from social restrictions and out into a world of unexplored places. Within the story it holds many
questionable events. Those events spark doubt in readers minds and they start to shy away from the
book and reject it immediately. I believe that, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn , should not be
banned in classrooms due to the book including important topics such as slavery, morality, and history.
In a blog on Huffington Post, the writer Galanty Miller, wrote about the Philadelphia High School
banning Huckleberry Finn. Saying that it was a decision that made no sense, and adding an example
that showed how it made no sense to ban it. That even if it made students uncomfortable it is an
important piece of literature that went over racism and intolerance. He also wrote about how
nowadays everyone is uncomfortable any content that is considered challenging. That being
challenged isn t necessarily a harmful notion, and includes an example from the movie Dead Poets
Society .
The book shows sensitive issues that aren t thoroughly talked much about. Huckleberry Finn shows

information written. For example, a writer named Thomas J. Hubschman, expressed on his blog that in
the book Huck helps Jim regain freedom but it is wrong to deprive someone of their property. He says
that even though Jim is a human being, it is wrong to keep someone s personal belongings away from
them. That he did a criminal act, but isn t it an acceptable idea to understand that certain notions are
wrong. Although it s easy to see where Hubschman is coming from, but taking someone s freedom and

Paulo Freire s The Banking Concept Of Education
One topic that is widely debated today is education and how well children are being taught. This is a
hard thing to improve because every child learns differently. So how do you create a system to fit
everyone s needs? A man named Paulo Freire studied the educational system and points out it s flaws
in his essay, The Banking Concept of Education where he explains how children are being taught and
proposes a better method. Mike Rose in his essay, I Just Want To Be Average explains in detail his
experiences in the school system and the problems he sees in school systems.
In his essay The Banking Concept of Education Freire describes the faults in our current educational
system and the method he believes should replace it. He shows how the banking concept of education
creates an environment where students just receive and store information, but never question why
things are the way they are. Then goes on to explain how in the banking concept teachers act as if they
are superior to the students by referring to teachers as oppressors and students as oppresses. In his
essay Freire also gives a solution to the problems he describes in the banking concept. It s called the
problem posing method and it is an interactive way of learning where your mind is more engaged.
This is a liberating educational experience where teachers and students are equal. That the teacher
learns with the student and encourages them. He then describes how these two different methods

Lord Of The Flies By William Arthur
Arthur stood by the window and gazed longingly out of it. He began daydreaming. He imagined what
his knights were doing at that moment. Lancelot was probably helping some poor servant with their
chores, Gwaine was probably (no, definitely) in the tavern, Elyan was probably helping a blacksmith
run his forge, Leon was probably training or on duty (he always seems to be doing extra shifts), and
Percival was probably lifting weights or reading. Arthur for the life of him couldn t work out what that
big guy would get up to in his spare time.
His pondering was interrupted with his chamber door flying open to reveal a slightly breathless Merlin
with his arms laden with food. The manservant grinned happily at the prince and laid his food on the

Gaius said it was but if it isn t I can always get you a new manservant, Uther shrugged. You are
dismissed.
Arthur bowed and exited the dark hall.
END FLASHBACK
Now, as Arthur was eating and Merlin was folding all his master s clothes, Arthur reached into his
pocket and pulled out the tall glass bottle. He quietly popped of the top and poured singular drop of
liquid into his goblet of water. Merlin, Merlin turned hearing his name. Come sit here and have a
drink. You look exhausted.
Merlin walked almost cautiously over to the table. Be careful, sire. Keep this up and I might get the
impression that you care about me! Merlin jested. He sat and took the goblet from Arthur s
outstretched hand and drank deeply.
Arthur watched Merlins expression as it morphed from an annoying grin to a look of disorientation or
something of the like. Merlin? Arthur cried as his manservants eyes glazed over. Are you alright? Yes,
came Merlin s response in a monotone voice, his expression completely blank. Arthur figured that the
truth serum was working in its very creepy way. What is your name? Merlin Where did you grow up?

Innovation Design and Planning Jennifer Bunt MGT/411 February 11, 2013 Kelly Wagner Innovation
Design and Planning Innovation is the process of using ideas within a company to create new
products, services, technology, or processes. Myths used to acknowledge that innovation was the idea
of one individual with no support from others. In reality, innovative ideas that become new products

* Rate of technological change: It is important for a company to identify the effects of change on the
company s current products and services. It is vital for the company to change the technology used to
keep up or stay ahead of the pack on a continual bases. According to Davila, Epstein, and Shelton
(2006), Internal factors are not the only formative forces; external forces can also shape the innovation
strategy (p. 77). Making aware of the internal and external factors can help to update and improve the
innovation strategies the company uses. If the factors are made aware and followed, the factors will
work hand in hand to support the company through the design and planning process of the innovation
strategies. Equally important to the innovation process are the factors related to the innovation systems
design. Factors that are analyzed include the creative phase, execution phase, and creation stage. In the
creative stage, ideas come together for everyone to discuss. Next the innovation systems design will
lead to the execution stage. During this stage, management will discuss and decide which idea will be
the best to benefit and support the mission and principles of the company. Once a decision has been
accomplished, the company moves to the creation stage. At this point, every detail will become
compiled into the functions of daily business.

Anglo Saxon Women
During the Anglo Saxons period, the culture is already diverse and I might say it is quite unique
particularly in the role of women. Anglo Saxons, I can say is the ancestor of different cultures today. I
would start with role of women. During the Anglo Saxons Period women have almost equal rights
with men. Actually, the role of the women depends on their status of life but in most cultures a woman
stays at home giving birth to children, serve her husband, a teacher, and if she is part of the aristocrats
(those who are in the highest social class), a supervisor to slaves. A woman in this era has advantages
especially in terms of marriage. An Anglo Saxon woman has the possibility to choose their husband;
possibility because during the Anglo Saxon era, marriages are negotiable but a woman could reefuse.
Since a woman can own possessions such as land and money, a woman can be bribed by an anglo
saxon man with morgengifs. It is like a dowry, it can be land, gold or such. But bribing a woman needs
a marriage contract. The man needs to go to the father of the woman with his morgengifs and they will
negotiate so that the man could marry the women. If the woman is not part of the aristocrats, she can
be a peace weaver. A peace weaver is like an offer; they are forced to marry a man from the other clan.
For example clan A has a conflict or war with clan B, a woman from clan A must marry a man from
clan B or vice versa to settle the tension between the clans. Woman that time

Disadvantages Of Municipal Fragmentation
Across the globe, governments struggle to sufficiently represent their citizens. The breaking down of
government responsibilities varies between countries, but one aspect that no country can agree on is
what constitutes a municipality and how much responsibility a municipality should have. Should a city
region be split into competing small municipalities, or should there be one municipal government for
the entire region? Across Europe following World War II fragmentation due to land reform was
favoured (Jurgenson, 2016, p. 34) whereas now in present day, consolidation seems to be more
desirable by governments seeking to be more cost efficient (Carmichael Midwinter, 1999, p. 163). As
a means to compromise, city regions should be governed by a system that incorporates both aspects of
fragmentation and consolidation. Through the analysis of economic effects, government issues, and
cultural factors I will explore the benefits of municipal fragmentation and consolidation. A central
occupation of a municipality is the distribution of funds to various services. Municipalities can face
several difficulties in regard to their economy because of their lack of power and responsibilities.
Fragmentation could aid municipalities according to Grassmueck and Shields (2009) in their study
Does government fragmentation enhance or hinder metropolitan economic growth? that suggests that
regions with relatively fragmented governments had stronger relative economic performance over the

Shakespeare Reflection
William Shakespeare have been studied, analyzed, and enjoyed as some of the finest masterpieces of
the English language. He was the most popular playwright of London in his life time (Shakespeare
Resources Center). My first and favorite Shakespeare play in High School was Romeo and Juliet. It
was written early in his career about two young lovers, whose deaths ultimately unite their feuding
families. This has been referred to as the greatest love story of all time, or perhaps the most tragic. I
remembered reading the book many times because the story telling was so captivating, and intriguing
coupled with sadness. I was excited to learn more about Shakespeare s play and was thrilled that
Virginia Tech offers the course ENGL 1634: Introduction to Shakespeare with Professor Joann
Harvill. This is by far my favorite class this semester. I have learned many interesting and fascinating
stories, plays and movies such as: 10 Things I Hate About You , Forbidden Planet , Taming of the
Shrew and Tempest.
William Shakespeare is the most written about author in the history of Western civilization. His canon
includes 38 plays, 154 sonnets, and 2 epic narrative poems. His works have been studied, analyzed,
and admired all over the world. In Shakespeare in Love , the movie showed exactly how the Romeo
and Juliet play came to be since it was based on his personal love affair with a woman, named Viola
de Lesseps. She pretended to be a man in the audition of his plays.

in the worst possible state and so unless individuals have the fortune of having private health

Examples Of Pregnancy Discrimination In The Workplace
Do you know all the laws against pregnancy discrimination in the workplace? If you don t know them,
this is the article for you. In this article you will learn about the different laws about pregnancy
discrimination in the workplace and some examples of pregnancy discrimination in the workplace.
First we will talk about the examples of pregnancy discrimination. According to the EEOC s (2017)
article, a real estate firm fired three people for being pregnant, they also fired two women in 2013 for
the same thing and didn t get punished for it. They are going to court by the EEOC and some states are

pregnant woman in 1991, the case was appealed in 2000. They got sued $200,000. According to the

operation of the employer s business. The other law for pregnancy discrimination is the Pregnancy
Discrimination Act. According to EEOC s (2009) article, this law makes it illegal to discriminate
against a pregnant and is makes illegal to retaliate because a person complained about someone

to the trachea and it is the gland responsible for regulating metabolism. The pituitary gland becomes a
major player as well because the thyroid gland can only release its hormones from hormones from the
anterior pituitary gland (McKinley, O Loughlin, Bidle, 2013).
The endocrine system works to control and regulate the body. It works by hormones being released

Comparing Dr. Jekyll And Mr. Hyde
The Metamorphosis and the Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, by Franz Kafka, and Robert
Louis Stevenson respectively, center around two protagonists who encounter some physical and
mental transformations, and confusion of identities. While Kafka s novella shows the innocence and
noble traits hidden in Gregor Samsa, Stevenson s novella suggests that Dr. Jekyll is motivated by the
darkness of his soul. Both protagonists escape their realities through transformations, in which Dr.
Jekyll seeks to find an exit from the judgment of society , and Samsa desires a life that does not take
away his individuality.

Similarly, Dr. Jekyll aims escape the oppressions and judgments he faces through a transformation
using Science and drugs. Gregor Samsa s life before the transformation does not seem to flow
according to what he fancies. Samsa goes with a lifestyle that is quite demanding, in which he

a curse ( Kafka 1) that can go to hell ( Kafka 1). This shows that his job is taking away his enjoyable
life, making him feel like he is not a human. The fact that Gregor feels that way indicates that he is
certainly living the life of a vermin. Even though Gregor aims to help his family through their tough
times, however, the members of the family do not treat him fairly. Gregor s father desires to knock
Gregor back into his room ( Kafka 7), his mother faints to see him, and she agrees that Gregor is is
[not] well ( Kafka 4). All of the family s behaviors show that Gregor, indeed, is being treated as an
insect and getting exposed to the loss of his individuality. Thus, his reality is dehumanizing him
making him a vermin. Likewise, Dr.Jekyll is exposed to a judgemental society, which he makes sure
to escape through a transformation. Dr. Jeckyll desires to conceal [his]

How Does Margaret Atwood Affect Society
Margaret Atwood, one of Canada s most respected authors, is inspired by science fiction. She found
this inspiration from her father because he was a scientist. [Additionally, he was who she looked up to
due to his successes in life.] She uses women as her speakers and often presents a dystopia in her
work, which shows women as stronger characters in societies with problems. Margaret Eleanor
Atwood was born in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada on November 18, 1939. Atwood is the second child of
Margaret Dorothy and Carl Edmund Atwood. Most of Atwood s childhood memories were spent
outside of northern Quebec and traveling to many places due to her father´s job, an entomologist. In
1957 Atwood graduated from Leaside High School in Leaside, Toronto. She began writing at a very
young age, and her favorite poet was Edgar Allen Poe. Her mind was set to become a writer at the age

country animals are animals, and in other countries animals are people. Atwood continues the same
type of symbolism in Rat Song because she compares the speaker to a parasite. She uses animal
imagery in both Rat Song and The animals in that country to show the reader that there are creatures
that are not what they seem to be, and they do their damage and then disappear. The poem Rat Song is
a metaphor. It compares the rat to a woman who is warning others to stay away from this man when
she states, All I want is love, you stupid/ humanist . She further continues using metaphor in The

METHODOLGY AND MODELS FOR RESIDENTIAL SELF SELECTION: IMPACT ON TRAVEL
BEHAVIOR Introduction: Self selection in this context refers to the tendency of people to choose
locations based on their travel abilities, needs and preferences (Litman, 2005 p. 6). Sources for
Residential selection are: attitudes and social demographic traits. With residential to the latter, an
example of self selection is that low income and zero vehicle households may choose to live in
neighborhoods with ample transit service and hence use transit more. In this case, it is not good transit
facilities, but the households economic constraints that have a true and direct influence on their choice
of transit model. Today urbanization is increasing rapidly with global opportunities and economic
development of the country. So, there are more number of people are migrating from other areas to
Urban. The density of the population increases, but the infrastructure like transportation facilities have
not improved that much. Then there is a cause of Traffic congestion as well as increasing the fuel
consumption. Urban areas are developing very fast and sprawl all over the sub urban areas. Already
central areas of the cities are overcrowded, So, then the people are moving to suburban areas for
living. Then the term Residential Self selection plays an important role on the travel behavior of the

Happiness in Aldous Huxley s Brave New World Essay
When we look to define happiness, many different ideas come to mind. Webster s New Collegiate
Dictionary uses three definitions for happiness: good fortune, a state of well being and contentment,
and a pleasurable satisfaction. In Brave New World, Aldus Huxley argues that a society can redefine
happiness through the government s manipulation of the environment and the human mind itself. The
government accomplishes this by mind conditioning throughout the process of maturing, keeping a
caste based society, and obliterating problems. The government thus defines happiness as the absence
of all conflict. This differs from happiness as the American society sees it: the ability to pursue and
enjoy individual desires.

For problems that nature creates, the society of Brave New World destroys them to keep pestering
insects and things of that sort from infringing on people s happiness.
It is evident that Bernard and Lenina shift their attitudes after they meet the savage, John. Bernard gets
a taste of power after bringing the savage home to London and becomes satisfied and happy as defined
by Brave New World, a complete turnaround from his previous, almost American ideals. Lenina finds
love and joy, as an American would define it after being content for so many years in the society of
Brave New World. Before he finds the savage, Bernard is unhappy with his surroundings,
With eyes for the most part downcast and, if ever they lighted on a fellow creature, at once and
furtively averted, Bernard hastened across the roof. He was like a man pursued, but pursued by
enemies he does not wish to see, lest they should seem more hostile even than he had supposed, and
he himself be made to feel guiltier and even more helplessly alone. (63)
However, after he discovers John, he becomes just as artificial as every other conditioned human: And
I had six girls last week, he confided to Helmholtz Watson. One on Monday, two on Tuesday, two
more on Friday, and one on Saturday. And if I d had the time or the inclination, there were at least a
dozen more who were only too anxious... (158 9). Lenina, nevertheless, has a personality change in

The Quality Of Care Of The United States Health Care System
The quality of care In the United States Health Care System, unlike a lot of people s perceptions, is

He later had to be rushed back to that very same hospital merely days later were it was confirmed that

eighth (Sanders 2). This incident spot lights a problem with the American Health Care System. Even
as Rebecca Hersher, An National Publican Radio (NPR) reporter, stated, Many [Liberians] noted how
different Duncan s experience in the U.S. health care system seemed from white patients who
contracted Ebola, like Dr. Kent Brantly... (2). At first the hospital defended itself issuing the statement,
He was treated with the same high level of attention and care that would be given any patient,
regardless of nationality or ability to pay for care. But the hospital also acknowledged that it failed to
properly diagnose Duncan when he first showed up... (2). In the end, the hospital settled with Duncan
s family out of court for an undisclosed amount, and are going to make a charity in his name (2). Yet,
it seemed the lack of quality care did not stop at just missing Duncan s diagnoses. Two of the nurses
caring for Duncan contracted Ebola. One of them was Nurse Nina Pham. Pham, 26, was the first
person to contract Ebola on U.S. soil (McCallister 1). It would seem the hospital was not equipped or

To start off, Twin studies are a significant tool to investigate the nature versus nurture argument. Identical twins, or monozygotic twins, are siblings that have the exact same genotypes whereas fraternal twins are dizygotic twins that only share half of their genes together. Fraternal twins are similar to siblings, except they have of the exact age. As Plomin, DeFries, McClearn, and Rutter (1997) stated that if one twin has dark hair, then the other twin has dark hair as well; where the concept of identical genes would ideally distribute itself towards the phenotypes of behavior and personality of identical twins . Parents who dress their twins up in the same outfits or get them the same set of toys does not contribute to twins who have the same traits. It shows that a common environment does not give much impact in developing personalities. Mischel (1981) has also attested to this issue saying that genes and glands are different, but social learning plays a dramatic role. People develop vast differences through the stimuli they face in their daily life. Despite being reared in the same environment (their home), both twins could have had different sets of friends. Thus, going through their school years having different experiences and facing different challenges. As a whole they will have completely different hobbies and interests. Hence, we think that twins will display the same trait even though they were brought up in different environments because traits have more to do with genetics rather than environment. Which is why identical twins are more similar when compared to fraternal twins despite both being reared apart. Anglo Saxons, I can say is the ancestor of different cultures today. I would start with role of women. During the Anglo Saxons Period women have almost equal rights with men. Actually, the role of the women depends on their status of life but in most cultures a woman stays at home giving birth to children, serve her husband, a teacher, and if she is part of the aristocrats (those who are in the highest social class), a supervisor to slaves. A woman in this era has advantages especially in terms of marriage. An Anglo Saxon woman has the possibility to choose their husband; possibility because during the Anglo Saxon era, marriages are negotiable but a woman could reefuse. Since a woman can own possessions such as land and money, a woman can be bribed by an anglo saxon man with morgengifs. It is like a dowry, it can be land, gold or such. But bribing a woman needs a marriage contract. The man needs to go to the father of the woman with his morgengifs and they will negotiate so that the man could marry the women. If the woman is not part of the aristocrats, she can be a peace weaver. A peace weaver is like an offer; they are forced to marry a man from the other clan. The breaking down of government responsibilities varies between countries, but one aspect that no country can agree on is what constitutes a municipality and how much responsibility a municipality should have. Should a city region be split into competing small municipalities, or should there be one municipal government for the entire region? Across Europe following World War II fragmentation due to land reform was favoured (Jurgenson, 2016, p. 34) whereas now in present day, consolidation seems to be more desirable by governments seeking to be more cost efficient (Carmichael Midwinter, 1999, p. 163). As a means to compromise, city regions should be governed by a system that incorporates both aspects of fragmentation and consolidation. Through the analysis of economic effects, government issues, and cultural factors I will explore the benefits of municipal fragmentation and consolidation. A central occupation of a municipality is the distribution of funds to various services. Municipalities can face several difficulties in regard to their economy because of their lack of power and responsibilities. This has been referred to as the greatest love story of all time, or perhaps the most tragic. In Brave New World, Aldus Huxley argues that a society can redefine happiness through the government s manipulation of the environment and the human mind itself. The government accomplishes this by mind conditioning throughout the process of maturing, keeping a caste based society, and obliterating problems. The government thus defines happiness as the absence of all conflict. This differs from happiness as the American society sees it: the ability to pursue and enjoy individual desires. The ... For problems that nature creates, the society of Brave New World destroys them to keep pestering insects and things of that sort from infringing on people s happiness. It is evident that Bernard and Lenina shift their attitudes after they meet the savage, John. Bernard gets a taste of power after bringing the savage home to London and becomes satisfied and happy as defined by Brave New World, a complete turnaround from his previous, almost American ideals. Lenina finds love and joy, as an American would define it after being content for so many years in the society of Brave New World. Before he finds the savage, Bernard is unhappy with his surroundings, With eyes for the most part downcast and, if ever they lighted on a fellow creature, at once and furtively averted, Bernard hastened across the roof. He was like a man pursued, but pursued by enemies he does not wish to see, lest they should seem more hostile even than he had supposed, and he himself be made to feel guiltier and even more helplessly alone. (63) However, after he discovers John, he becomes just as artificial as every other conditioned human: And I had six girls last week, he confided to Helmholtz Watson.
