The manufacturing industry caters the range of products to satisfy the ever changing market needs.
To overcome the increasing production demands, the industry implies various techniques. We need a technique for
increasing the production of drilling two holes on a Railway Pinion, improve the quality of product and reduce the
operation time. This project aims to design the Jig and Fixture for the same. The 3-dimensional Computer Aided Model
of the components is made using CATIA V5-R21 software. To study the behavior of component, simulation is carried out.
Preprocessing of the CAD model is carried in Hypermesh software. Boundary conditions are applied using physical
situations of the components. Finite element analysis of the components is done, and the results obtained are compared
with the theoretical analysis and also with the available literature. The stresses and deformations are found within desired limits. Using FE analysis, the parts are manufactured and assembled.

There is an increasing demand in manufacturing environment for the best quality of casting
products at the right time and quantity. In order to survive in the competitive market and to achieve
customer satisfaction trial-and-error method to produce defect free casting products from design to
manufacturing is too costly and not effective [1]. Modernization is the only key to improve casting quality
and productivity. This paper discusses the simulation process of casting solidification with the AutoCAST-X
software of a intricate shape small size casting of LM6 (Al alloy) metal. With the help of simulation study
hot spot in the casting has been identified. This has immensely helped in locating the optimum position and
size of the feeder required. This paper also shows the application of feeding aids as exothermic sleeve. The
simulation study has shown the improvement in feeding yield and quality of the casting.

ginning machine. Machining of keyways on eccentric
shaft is a important task. Machining on simple shaft is
easy as compare to eccentric shaft by conventional
process. machining of keyways on eccentric shaft is a
time consuming process, so reducing this time is a main
aim.
The job having a cylindrical shape and number of
keyways are required on it at an different position. This
is a challenging task for design engineer and hence
Computer Aided Fixture Design (CAFD) is incorporated
in manufacturing industry. It deals with the integration
of CAD and CNC programming in CAM systems using
software’s for fixture design. Except V block, no other
option is available to hold cylindrical object and hence
special type of fixture is designed for this case, which can
be used for machining of keyway on eccentric shaft.
Fixtures reduce operation time and increases
productivity and high quality of operation is possible.

Power plants release a large amount of water vapor into the
atmosphere through the stack. The flue gas can be a potential
source for obtaining much needed cooling water for a power
plant. If a power plant could recover and reuse a portion of this
moisture, it could reduce its total cooling water intake
requirement. One of the most practical way to recover water
from flue gas is to use a condensing heat exchanger. The power
plant could also recover latent heat due to condensation as well
as sensible heat due to lowering the flue gas exit temperature.
Additionally, harmful acids released from the stack can be
reduced in a condensing heat exchanger by acid condensation. reduced in a condensing heat exchanger by acid condensation.
Condensation of vapors in flue gas is a complicated
phenomenon since heat and mass transfer of water vapor and
various acids simultaneously occur in the presence of noncondensable
gases such as nitrogen and oxygen. Design of a
condenser depends on the knowledge and understanding of the
heat and mass transfer processes. A computer program for
numerical simulations of water (H2O) and sulfuric acid (H2SO4)
condensation in a flue gas condensing heat exchanger was
developed using MATLAB. Governing equations based on
mass and energy balances for the system were derived to
predict variables such as flue gas exit temperature, cooling
water outlet temperature, mole fraction and condensation rates
of water and sulfuric acid vapors. The equations were solved
using an iterative solution technique with calculations of heat
and mass transfer coefficients and physical properties.
