Fingerprint identification involves comparing ridge characteristics like ending ridges, bifurcations, and dots between two prints and looking for multiple matching characteristics in the same relative positions to determine a match. While some countries have a set number of ridge characteristics required for identification, examiners in the US can use their experience and discretion to decide based on print clarity and uniqueness.

The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. 10. WHAT IS A FINGERPRINT? A fingerprint is a pattern of friction ridge details, that are comprised of ridges and valleys. A Ridge – is a high. A Valley – is a depression or low. Friction ridges are also found on our palms, feet and toes.
12. THE PATTERN The pattern is the unique characteristics of the ridges and valleys that make up the print. It is defined by the spatial relationship of lines with each other, their beginning and terminating points, and the unique pattern they make. The genes from our parents determine the general characteristics of the patterns.
