Amid range bound trading, Indian markets ended in green on positive global cues. Markets across the globe were buoyant on upbeat
earnings reports by U.S. tech & other firms and Bernanke’s optimistic comment about Fed’s readiness to inject stimulus.
Hopes of reforms by Indian government post Presidential elections also buoyed up the sentiments of Indian investors.
Meanwhile, CRISIL and Kotak Mahindra Bank Q1 earnings failed to enthuse the investors.
Kotak Mahindra Bank: For the period while the Net Sales increased by 36.55%, Net Profit grown by 12.07% and thereby NPM reduced
to 13.73% as compared to 16.17% on y-o-y basis. The stock was down 2.51% on BSE today. (Result)
CRISIL: For the period while the Net Sales increased by 7.21%, Net Profit grown by 7.46% and thereby NPM improved marginally to
25.08% as compared to 25.02% on y-o-y basis. The stock was down 3.41% on BSE today. (Result)
Back to markets, the market breadth on the BSE closed in positive. Advances and declining stocks were in a ratio of 1432:1331 while
155 scrips remained unmoved.
The BSE Sensex ended at 17278.85, up 93.84 points or 0.55%. The 30 share index touched a high and a low of 17318.93 and
17244.76 respectively. 22 stocks advanced against 8 declining ones on the benchmark index.
The S&P CNX Nifty gained 26.40 points or 0.51% to settle at 5242.70. The index touched high and low of 5257.75 and 5233.15
respectively. 33 stocks advanced against 17 declining ones on the index.

The BSE Mid-cap index moved up to 6198.18 and gained 0.12% while Small-cap index jumped up by 0.37% to 6682.47.
The broader BSE 500 index increased to 6661.44 (up 0.42%) and S&P CNX 500 index rose to 4157.30 (up 0.42%).
The volatility as denoted by INDIA VIX lost 6.08% at 16.38 from its previous close of 17.44 on Wednesday.

On the BSE Sectorial front, Information Technology (up 1.75%), Consumer Durables (up 1.38%) and Oil & Gas (up 1.24%) were the
top gainers.
Automobile (down 0.47%) and FMCG (down 0.02%) were the top losers.

(down 1.25%) and Dr. Reddys Laboratories Ltd. (down 0.98%) were the top losers on the Sensex.
