After a flat start, the benchmarks traded in a range through most of the day before closing in the red.
IDFC Limited was the top star on NSE after posting its Q1 numbers. For the period, while the Net Sales increased by 36.04%, Net
Profit grown by 16.41% and thereby NPM reduced to 21.76% as compared to 25.43% on y-o-y basis. The stock was up 4.25% on NSE
today. (Featured Result)
Reliance Industries Limited stock was also buoyant on a Goldman Sachs report that the RIL can become a 100 USD company by
2017. The stock ended up 2.15% on NSE and was at its 5 months high.
On the other end, ITC has witnessed the intense selling pressure after an Australian court has approved a logo ban on tobacco packs
from December 1. The investors were concerned that the other countries, including India, could match the action. The ITC stock
closed 3.53% down on NSE today.
The market breadth on the BSE closed in negative. Advances and declining stocks were in a ratio of 1289:1506 while 117 scrips
remained unmoved.
The BSE Sensex ended at 17657.21, down 70.99 points or 0.40%. The 30 share index touched a high and a low of 17763.59 and
17640.62 respectively. 10 stocks advanced against 20 declining ones on the benchmark index.
The S&P CNX Nifty lost 17.40 points or 0.32% to settle at 5362.95. The index touched high and low of 5390.65 and 5356.65
respectively. 19 stocks advanced against 31 declining ones on the index.

The BSE Mid-cap index moved up to 6155.02 and gained 0.12% while Small-cap index jumped up by 0.27% to 6614.07.
The broader BSE 500 index decreased to 6763.75 (down 0.26%) and S&P CNX 500 index declined to 4222.65 (down 0.28%).
The volatility as denoted by INDIA VIX gained 0.32% at 15.69 from its previous close of 15.64 on Tuesday.
Sectors in action
On the BSE Sectorial front, Capital Goods (up 0.82%), Oil & Gas (up 0.65%) and Automobile (up 0.58%) were the top gainers.
FMCG (down 2.06%), Metals (down 1.44%) and Consumer Durables (down 1.02%) were the top losers.
The Angels and the Devils
Hero MotoCorp Ltd. (up 2.69%), Mahindra and Mahindra Limited (up 2.13%), Reliance Industries Limited (up 2.04%), Cipla Limited
(up 2.01%) and Larsen And Toubro Limited (up 1.57%) were the top gainers on the Sensex.
ITC Limited (down 3.59%), Hindalco Industries Ltd. (down 2.75%), Sterlite Industries (India) Limited (down 2.44%), GAIL (India)
Limited (down 2.17%) and Tata Steel Limited (down 1.93%) were the top losers on the Sensex.
