Part 1: TheCritical Review – this is you explaining the inquiry for an ‘academic’ audience It is primarily written but can contain visual or audio visual elements showing the process of investigating a topic (practitioner research) with analysis that has implications or impact for your practice (any outcomes?). (12th May) Part 2: The Professional Artefact – this is you explaining the inquiry to a professional audience or community of practice – it can incorporate products/services/outcomes that have come about as a part of the inquiry it can be a document, an event, or an activity (be creative if it is for creative professionals) - it can illustrate to others in your community of practice or workplace - the artefact should emerge from the inquiry and incorporate your ‘findings’ – you are communicating – you might choose to stress certain findings (12th May) Part 3: The Oral Presentation demonstration/presentation (19th or 20th May) A final summary that shows your progress and shares knowledge and understanding that is based on your ‘inquiry’. Generally in person but can do Skype if away working. - 7. Harvard Referencing From theIWBL Referencing Guide (2013) • You must provide a reference in two cases: • - When you use someone else’s exact words. In this case you will put the quotation in inverted commas, insert an in-text quotation with the exact page (see below) which will match the item on the reference list at the end of the work. • - When you paraphrase someone else’s ideas. In this case no direct quotation is necessary but you will still need to insert an in-text quotation. You might or might not reference to exact pages according to the circumstances. For instance, if you only refer to the general contribution of a book in its field you don’t need a precise page reference. - 8. Completing your CriticalReview Critical Review - 4 main sections 3. Analysis and Findings – already started? Conclusions and Recommendations – so what does the inquiry mean? Any implications/impact in your professional practice? how was your professional practice affected ( if space allows - why you chose the artefact you did – remember you can also submit an A4 sheet with explanation). 4. Critical Reflection – the last section – what did you learn from your study This is thinking about Module 3 but also summing up your achievements from the whole course. What knowledge have you gained – how have you applied your learning? Add the personal to the professional conclusions in the Analysis… SEND A DRAFT TO YOUR TUTOR for WRITTEN FEEDBACK Bibliography – this shows the expertise you used to ‘theorise’ your work – arts based research (practitioners work e.g. performance, visual) not in word count Appendices – supporting material - not in word count – put in blank your ethical consent forms here – make sure to put signed consent forms in a scanned document here or in a separate document.

Completing your Portfolio Thiswork is representing what you have done for the entire professional inquiry… Add other activities – e.g. going to performances you have been a art of or have seen, workshops, training. The idea is that you have done something during the inquiry that you can talk about as outcomes coming from your practice and/or workplace.

- 29. • Rehearse whatyou want to say before the day and illustrate what you have done for your inquiry in your presentation – what is important to communicate? + be prepared for questions • Don’t overload slides (ppt or prezi if you use these) with text – they are just talking points (note Paula has Pages but the uni does not – so also format as a powerpoint) • A rule of thumb is 1 minute per slide – so no more than 15 slides (?) • You can show a sample of your artefact – if it is a powerpoint – these are 2 distinct pieces for assessment • You are presenting to peers and tutors – there is an element of formality – but you might also introduce informal elements - we have had people sing songs, do acting auditions and give the audience cookies… Oral Presentation advice for the presentation

Submit both of these in the FINAL SUBMISSION dropbox on My Learning by 12th May 2017 6.Schedule an Oral Presentation time for the 18th 19th May(Paula will send out a schedule via email). 7. Present your Professional Inquiry to tutors and peers (others welcome)
- 33. Dates for submittingthis semester Submission for the Critical Review and Professional Artefact By 12th May 2017 (11:55pm online) on you’re My Learning module site. Audio- visual artefacts need to be under 500 mb to submit to MyLearning – or we can do WeTransfer. The Oral Presentations will be have been scheduled for the 18th and 19th of May with morning and/or afternoon sessions to be attended by advisers and BAPP Arts peers If completing the module is not possible this term, you need to discuss this with your tutor so that they can help you decide on the best course of action.
