The Tarrant County Homeless Coalition (TCHC) conducted their annual homeless count and found a 30% reduction in unsheltered homelessness from 2009 to 2011. The total number of homeless individuals counted decreased slightly from 2,181 in 2009 to 2,169 in 2011. Prevention and rapid rehousing programs helped minimize homelessness despite an 86% increase in evictions over the past decade. The TCHC will present the full report on the county's homeless population at a meeting on April 27th to help guide local planning and development efforts to further reduce homelessness.
