LAND USE LAND COVER AND NDVI OF MIRZAPUR DISTRICT, UPRAHUL
This Dissertation explores the particular circumstances of Mirzapur, a region located in the
core of India. Mirzapur, with its varied terrains and abundant biodiversity, offers an optimal
environment for investigating the changes in vegetation cover dynamics. Our study utilizes
advanced technologies such as GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and Remote sensing to
analyze the transformations that have taken place over the course of a decade.
The complex relationship between human activities and the environment has been the focus
of extensive research and worry. As the global community grapples with swift urbanization,
population expansion, and economic progress, the effects on natural ecosystems are becoming
more evident. A crucial element of this impact is the alteration of vegetation cover, which plays a
significant role in maintaining the ecological equilibrium of our planet.Land serves as the foundation for all human activities and provides the necessary materials for
these activities. As the most crucial natural resource, its utilization by humans results in different
'Land uses,' which are determined by both human activities and the physical characteristics of the
land.
The utilization of land is impacted by human needs and environmental factors. In countries
like India, rapid population growth and the emphasis on extensive resource exploitation can lead
to significant land degradation, adversely affecting the region's land cover.
Therefore, human intervention has significantly influenced land use patterns over many
centuries, evolving its structure over time and space. In the present era, these changes have
accelerated due to factors such as agriculture and urbanization. Information regarding land use and
cover is essential for various planning and management tasks related to the Earth's surface,
providing crucial environmental data for scientific, resource management, policy purposes, and
diverse human activities.
Accurate understanding of land use and cover is imperative for the development planning
of any area. Consequently, a wide range of professionals, including earth system scientists, land
and water managers, and urban planners, are interested in obtaining data on land use and cover
changes, conversion trends, and other related patterns. The spatial dimensions of land use and
cover support policymakers and scientists in making well-informed decisions, as alterations in
these patterns indicate shifts in economic and social conditions. Monitoring such changes with the
help of Advanced technologies like Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems is
crucial for coordinated efforts across different administrative levels. Advanced technologies like
Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems

Changes in vegetation cover refer to variations in the distribution, composition, and overall
structure of plant communities across different temporal and spatial scales. These changes can
occur natural.

zone or allowed me to hone in on a specific skill that I wanted to become better at, I feel
that the Wellness Center allowed me to do just that. Much of what I experienced and
accomplished throughout my internship were things that I had never done before. More
importantly, everyone at the Wellness Center were more than helpful and did not hesitate
to provide me with assistance whenever I needed it. Every one of them wanted me to be
successful and they always were finding ways to help me achieve my goals and
objectives. By interning at the Wellness Center, I was able to understand and observe the
necessary skills that are required of anyone who is pursuing a career as a Health
Educator.
2. Explain and show how you achieved the goals you set.
Goal 1: By the end of my experience at Oconee Memorial Hospital Wellness
Center, I will be able to create and present an approved topic for a Health Track class.
For this goal, I was able to achieve it by actually creating a HealthTrack
presentation that was successful in getting individuals to attend. I was able to present the
presentation on three different occasions.
Goal 2: By the end of my experience at Oconee Memorial Hospital Wellness
Center, I will be able to recommend effective and informative designs that can be created
and implemented on the display boards for health screenings.
I was able to achieve this goal by developing various designs of specific materials
for various bulletin boards and flyers and having them approved by the health educators
in the Wellness Center. All materials that I created were approved by the health educators
before they were advertised on given out. Also, by receiving feedback from various
patients and employees, I was able to tailor certain materials in a way that had much
more of an impact on the individual.
Goal 3: By the end of my experience at Oconee Memorial Hospital Wellness
Center, I will be able to express how I feel about pursuing a career in Health Promotion
2. and Education as well as determine other ways that I can further my education in this
career.
I achieved this goal by sitting and discussing my future educational goals with my
preceptor and other health educators. I took note of the various educational opportunities
that they recommended in order to become a successful Health Educator. More
importantly, they offered helpful advice and shared some of their own experiences. Also,
throughout my experience, I took note of how I felt after each week so that I could go
back once it was over and really think about all that I learned and experienced throughout
the entire experience.
Goal 4: By the end of my experience at Oconee Memorial Hospital Wellness
Center, I will be able to list and describe three different programs that are offered to
patients through the Wellness Center.
I was able to achieve this goal by attending several different classes that were
offered through the Wellness Center. I attended multiple LoseWell classes, multiple
HealthTrack classes and I helped team teach a smoking cessation class. By observing
these classes and learning the different techniques that the health educators used to teach
the classes effectively, I was able to apply some of the observations to my own
presentation.
3. Choose one project/assignment and describe it as follows: HealthTrack Presentation
a. How well do you think you accomplished the project or dealt with the
experience(s)?
I feel that I accomplished the project to the best of my ability. Throughout the
development of the presentation, I really utilized the skills I learned as a Health
Science student in regards to finding adequate and reliable information that I
could teach to the hospital employees. Even though I presented the project on
three different occasions, after each presentation I was provided with feedback
from both my preceptor and the individuals who sat through the class. Receiving
this information allowed me to take note of what I really need to work on in order
to make the overall presentation more successful.
b. What skills did you use? (e.g. writing, speaking, organizing, interpersonal,
counseling, management, research, etc.)
Throughout the development and implementation of my presentation, I utilized a
number of skills. I really had to focus on time management, writing, speaking and
research. Much of what the presentation consisted of was research; therefore, I
really had to be sure that the information I provided in the presentation was
accurate and up to date. As for time management, I had a deadline that I had to
present the presentation, which made me more aware of how long I need to take
on specific parts of the presentation. As for writing and speaking, I utilized both
3. of those skills throughout the entire presentation. I had to write the presentation in
a way that could be easily understood to those that were learning from the
presentation. Also, I had to utilize my speaking skills in order to effectively and
professionally present the presentation.
c. Point out your strengths and weaknesses. What would you do differently?
A lot of my strengths and weaknesses had to do with actually presenting the
presentation. My main weakness was sounding confident in my ability to give the
presentation. Though the information was new to me, I struggled a lot in my
confidence. I saw that when I was giving the presentation, if I didn’t sound
confident in what I was teaching, those who attended the presentation were not as
engaged in the material as I would have hoped. One strength that was noted when
presenting the presentation was my ability to engage the individuals in the actual
stretches in the PowerPoint. As for doing anything differently, I would definitely
find ways to enhance my overall confidence and refrain from using the
presentation as a “crutch.” Also, I would find ways to refrain from reading
straight from the actually PowerPoint slide.
4. Assess your contribution to the internship site.
As an intern at the Wellness Center, I feel that I contributed a lot to the health educators
as well as to the overall Wellness Center. I worked on a fairly large project that consisted
of moving over a whole database of patient information to a Microsoft OneNote file that
could be accessed by various health educators. Also, I developed several Wellness
Wednesday flyer’s that were utilized by the health educators. More importantly, I
recruited individuals for the smoking cessation class and I created and designed my own
HealthTrack class. Even though I did a lot of the behind the scenes work, I feel that I
contributed to the Wellness Center in ways that benefited them in the long-run. By
completing the various projects that I did, I was able to make the jobs of the health
educators much easier.
5. Has your experience changed or reinforced your career goals. Changed or
reinforced your educational goals? Could you see yourself as a professional in this
field?
Having the opportunity to intern at the Wellness Center only solidified my future career
aspirations of becoming a Health Educator. I was able to apply what I have learned
throughout my time as a Health Science student to real life situations. More importantly,
by interning with the various health educators, it reinforced my need to further my
educational goals in hopes of one day receiving my Master’s degree in Public Health.
Understanding the various outlets that are available to health educators in regards to
furthering their education, it only helped to reiterate why I want to become a health
educator.
4. 6. Relate your internship experience to your academic work on campus. List at least 5
specific courses (by title, not number) either in your major or outside your major
that were useful at this site.
Health Appraisal Skills, Research and Evaluation Strategies, Public Speaking,
Determinants of Behavior and Public Health Communication. Throughout my internship,
I was definitely able to apply a number of things that I learned in each of these classes to
my tasks and responsibilities at the Wellness Center.
7. Were there instances at your site where the health literacy training was utilized?
Explain.
The health literacy training was utilized quite often throughout my internship experience.
Much of what I did was develop presentations and bulletin boards that catered to
employees of the hospital as well as any patient who came through the Wellness Center. I
can remember when I was designing my HealthTrack presentation that I had to be sure I
was aware of the colors I used for the font in the presentation. Although I wanted to use
lighter color fonts for the presentation, I had to remember that some people cannot read
the white font as one would think. Also, I had to be sure that when I developed bulletin
board materials that they were easy to read and utilized a consistent font that people
could read. Though I didn’t interact with many patients on a face-to-face basis, I had to
be cautious of the health literacy aspect when designing materials that would be read by
these patients.
