The document discusses the role of media in shaping ideologies around feminism and gender equality. It explores both the advantages and disadvantages of how media portrays feminism. While media allows women to distribute their ideas widely, it often presents women in a negative light as sex objects. Politics are also portrayed as male-dominated, which discourages women from pursuing political careers and perpetuates the belief that gender inequality continues.

Media Representation of Women- Gender Studies.pptxAshik Mondal
Historically, media representations of women have often been limited to stereotypical roles such as caregivers, homemakers, or romantic interests. Women are frequently objectified and sexualized in media portrayals, reducing them to their physical appearance and reinforcing narrow beauty standards. This can contribute to body image issues, low self-esteem, and unhealthy relationships among women and girls.Women are often underrepresented in media, particularly in leadership roles, STEM fields, and other traditionally male-dominated areas. When they are represented, they may be portrayed as exceptions or tokens rather than as fully developed characters with agency and complexity.Media representations of women often intersect with other aspects of identity such as race, ethnicity, sexuality, and disability. Intersectional analysis reveals how these intersecting identities shape women's experiences and opportunities in media portrayals. Women from marginalized groups may face additional layers of stereotypes and discrimination.Feminist scholars, activists, and media watchdogs have long critiqued the representation of women in media and advocated for more diverse, inclusive, and empowering portrayals. This includes initiatives to increase the visibility of women's voices and stories, challenge stereotypes, and promote media literacy and critical thinking among audiences.Overall, media representation of women plays a powerful role in shaping societal attitudes and perceptions. Efforts to promote more diverse, authentic, and inclusive portrayals of women are essential for challenging gender stereotypes, promoting gender equality, and fostering a more equitable and inclusive media landscape. While there have been some improvements in recent years, including the emergence of strong female characters in film, television, and literature, significant challenges remain. Women continue to face systemic barriers to equal representation and opportunities in media industries, including issues of pay equity, workplace harassment, and lack of access to decision-making roles.
In everything from magazines, advertising and TV programming, to comic books, music, film and computer games, ladies and young ladies are more likely to shown: in the home, performing household works such as clothing or cooking; as sex object who exist primarily to men; as victims who can't protect themselves from beatings, provocation, rape and murder.

The method for correspondence has
advanced rapidly after some time achieving a more extensive populace through
TV, daily paper, radio, and magazines. Through this advancement, the world
could interface and team up effortlessly with each other by sharing data,
thoughts, and assessments. The broad communications assumes a critical part in
our general public. A standout amongst the most powerful approaches to an expansive
populace is the TV. The utilization of generalizations is everywhere throughout
the broad communications. In the media, attendants are appeared as the
compliant aides of doctors and appeared to be externalized. The shameful
portrayal of expert attendants in the media does not demonstrate the general
population the genuine duties of the medical attendant on obligation. The
majority of the well-known therapeutic dramatizations neglect to depict a
positive picture and undermine the calling from multiple points of view.
One way in which the media
negatively influence the public’s image of nursing is the depiction of nursing
as a female career. The underlying foundations of this relentless media
disappointment retreat to the begin of the cutting edge calling. Customarily,
the media has exhibited ladies nurture as saintly, moderately low-gifted,
supporting and profoundly meek to the doctors who are generally men. Be that as
it may, with the social changes of late decades, the representation of medical
attendants moved to conceited, merciless, amateurish, and unintelligent.
Unfortunately, nurture on these shows are frequently appeared to have
amateurish practices as opposed to dealing with the patients.
One way media positively influence
the public’s image of nursing is showing the hospitality of nurses. Nurses
attend to patients with different ailments. They must attend to the patients who need of their help.
Also the media positively influence the public’s image of nursing is showing
the role that nurses play with regard to saving life. Other avenues that may
better educate the general public on the role and scope of nursing as well as
the changing health care system include social networks. During public health
events, through television and radio ,health campaigns .Through newspapers
during public awareness creation.

My research is about the history of two popular culture category broadcasts that will allow you to understand how social values have changed about women. My artifacts/expressions from the past are the television series, Bewitched, starring Elizabeth Montgomery and Dick York, from the year 1964 and Everything, But a Men, starring Jimmy Jean Louis and Monica Calhoun. Those broadcast biases underscore the double-standards about the role of women through the transformation of cultural and social norms. This paper aims to use the two culture category broadcasts to compare social issue messaging about the role of women from the 1960s and to now. Throughout history, consider that women have always played a significant, yet devalued, role in our society. Women have raised presidents, professors, doctors, while managing all aspects of family and household etc. However, society is still grappling with acceptance of women’s success and reconciling the changing role of women as they weave across the spectrum of choices in either becoming a wife, mother, a professional women or the inevitable and societal role of fulfilling all three.
In 1964 when the first episode bewitched came out, they portray woman as a person that need to stay home, clean, serve there Husband, the house and kids only. Then, on the “Everything But A Man” which came out in the twenty first century it continuously portrait woman as a person that need to continuous to do the same house essential duties plus a successful career. This movie was about a cheerfully single career woman finds unexpected love with a man from another culture, but their drastic lifestyle differences cause as much conflict as there is chemistry between them. The staring man in the movie used with a woman that always say yes master and always in the kitchen no matter what if the men does not have too much to offer financially, in the movie the express that women even pouch themselves in a higher level education they still expected to cook and treat him as a king and provided for the family. The society need to understand that a woman is very powerful tool that can be used for the success of the world. But man feel intimated when an independent woman can manage to reach professional success, which make them feel that they are losing control of their dominant side. Because we can still be successful in career as well in the family without getting extra help. Again it’s our loss because society always asking us to modified our life to accommodate the way the society portrait us. The Media that are play a great role on woman success today has not done a great job, by sharing with the world, the evolution from the kitchen to the desk with letting the world known that we do not belong to the kitchen only. They need to know that women can choose of being a professional that does not need to come home to do a second job. The thanks doesn’t go only to media but also to all the strong woman ...

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

Feminism
1. The mass media has a major role in shaping ideologies of its audience. There is a great
tendency targeted at women, feminism range across a variety of genders, races, ethnic
backgrounds and religions. There are both advantages and disadvantages in terms of media
exposing feminism. For instance women can distribute their ideas through a wide variety of
media including: internet, television, radio broadcasts, newspapers and many more.
Personal opinions and interpretations can be made positively to change the ways society
acts between the differences and equality of genders. Whereas from the extract ‘Miss
Representation’ a number of examples were shown how women are shaped in a negative
way to the public eye. A clear example is in movies there is a great tendency of show casing
women as sex objects and educating viewers that’s how women should look and act in a
sexual manner. Another provocative example is how there are mix reactions with the way
women should be presented on news forecast, there is a disagreement whether its correct
that women should look highly attractive to the public eye through exposing clothes or
‘dolled’ up faces. In comparison to females wearing simple clothes and the focus of news
being broadcasted rather that the outlook of an individual female.
Media sensationalismaffected the politics of society in a number of formats, it’s clearly
advertised in media that politics is seen as male dominant career. The disadvantages of this
discourages young females to pursue a career where there is a higher ratio of male to
females. This negativity moulds society that unequal gender equality still continues as
society would believe that certain roles are inappropriate for women. The problem of
people believing it isn’t right for females to have certain careers stops progress being made.
And if development is made an immediate reaction from the audience both positive
however generally negative, this would be evident on social media sites.
