Is fear holding you back? FEAR
What do you fear most? Fear can stop us from doing some things It can also make us do things Fear turns positive thoughts into negative thoughts Fear turns positive energy into negative energy
What does fear feel like? Fear can warn you to take care, e.g the feeling when you are out alone at night in a place you don’t know. Fear can be the niggles in your stomach before and interview. Fear can make you physically sick, e.g fear of heights or spiders. .
Fear can talk you out of things Negative self talk comes from fear of failure. I’m not good enough, I don’t have enough experience, etc, etc. I can’t go and ask her out, she might think I’m a dork.
You can overcome fear The first step to overcoming fear is to recognise what fear feels like for you. As soon as you feel the twinge or tingle you associate with fear put this plan in place. See it, tell it, do it.
You can do this See the situation or the event exactly the way you want it to be. E.g. you get the job. Tell yourself the story as though it is happening right now – yes out loud, you need to hear it. Do it – act as though it has happened, enjoy the feelings, do as much as you can to make it real
Give yourself time Suppose you need to ask the boss for a pay rise. See yourself living the life and doing the things more money would allow. Tell yourself all about it – in the present tense. Do it – do as many of the things now that you would do if you got the raise. Do not get yourself into debt!!
