Paul Cezanne began to take an uncertain interest in art after graduating from high school. His father urged him to study law instead of art, telling Paul "With money, you can eat. With genius you die." Paul tried to study law but also took an art class in the evenings, finding himself more interested in art over time. After several years, Paul's father let him go to Paris to focus on his art, and for the next 10 years Paul stubbornly worked at perfecting his craft, entering his paintings in exhibitions each year though they were consistently rejected.
