2. How Do Paleo-Indians And Europeans Influence The Role
Of...
Europeans arrived in a land that was already populated with approximately 43 65
million people distributed among North American, Mexico, Central America,
Caribbean islands, and South America (Butzer, 1992). Although these numbers
encompassed several areas, the initial settlers in North America were referred to as
Paleo Indians (Schultz, 2013). Scattered among many regions of North America, these
migrants adapted their lifestyles to the varying climates and land (Schultz, 2013).
From the Pre Columbian Era, varying region s economies depended on agriculture,
hunting, gathering, trading, and fishing. Developing the land and creating complex
societies complete with architectural development, allowed each civilization or tribe
to dominate large areas of land (Schultz, 2013). Multiple languages, cultures, and
beliefs abounded throughout the regions. Tribes were always willing to barter and
trade goods ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the beginning, the interaction between the Indians and Europeans was most often
trade related, however, the greed of the English for land, the religious differences,
cultural differences, and the European s vicious means of protection of their New
World holdings were catalysts for violence between the parties (Schultz, 2013).
Ultimately the greed for land was the key motive in the violence between the two
parties because the English vowed to exterminate anyone in their path to settlement
(Schultz, 2013). Additionally, Europeans brought with them many diseases such as
smallpox, measles, yellow fever, and others that spread rapidly among the Native
American populations (Madley, 2015). According to Madley (2015), numbers of
Native Americans, in the United States, prior to European contact was 5,000,000 or
more and by 1880 1900 those numbers were reduced to approximately 240,000.
Declining numbers of Native Americans can be attributed to disease combined with
colonialism and war (Madley,
3. Peace Tree Research Paper
Spilling down a slope overlooking Jerusalem, the Peace Forest symbolizes the
unity of Jerusalem after the Six Day War, harmony between Arab and Jewish
people and the hope for peace in a land birthed and raised in turmoil. Here, the city
plants a tree for EVERY child born in Jerusalem. According to Moshe Rivlin, who
served as chairman of the Jewish National Fund (JNF) until his death in 2004, In
most countries people are born to forests, and forests are given to them by nature.
But here in this country, if you see a tree, it was planted by somebody.
Every nation grooms its forests, planting replacement trees, keeping forests in place
for environmental and aesthetic reasons, but Israel HAD to plant trees. We know
there were trees in Biblical Israel...When the Queen of Sheba knocked on Solomon s

Thankfully, today, due to a massive reforestation campaign by the JNF, contemporary
Israel boasts no less than 280 forests consisting of 185 million trees. This dedication
to reforesting the Holy Land, even as many predicted failure, has changed the
landscape of the country, rolling back the desert in several areas and significantly
affecting the quality of the environment.
The Peace Forest project began at the end of the Six Day War in 1967 and
unknown to those who embarked on the task, a marvelous archaeological
discovery waited underneath newly planted trees. Many archaeological
discoveries in Israel come from pure chance, someone starts to build a house,
someone plows a field, somebody decides to remodel or workers begin to widen a
road....in a forest! During a project to widen a road through the Peace Forest,
workers stumbled across an unusually large burial site which yielded a bone box or
4. Unforgiven Analysis
Lauren Kate s newest book, Unforgiven, is the latest novel from her Fallen series
that extends to a specific character s background story, Cameron Briel, known by
series fans as Cam. In the series, two main characters are reincarnated over centuries
of time in different life situations meeting each other in specific ages in their lives to
test the time and the limits of good and evil, (heaven and hell) to keep their true loves.
Like many of the prior novels, each chapter usually bounces back and forth
between the two primary characters of the book, in this case between Cam s point
of view and Lilith s point of view. Unforgiven is a well developed story that gives
you, at least, an understanding of his backstory and how it makes him into
5. Conformity In Pleasantville
Pleasantville is a film about two teenagers from the 90 s who mysteriously find
themselves in a black and white 1950s television show. They become residents of
Pleasantville; a suburbia where sex doesn t exist, the high school basketball team
always wins, married couples sleep in twin beds, books have no words, and
everything is pleasant. The citizens of Pleasantville don t seem to question their
good life, until Bud and Mary Sue come along and disturb the conformity. Suddenly
parts of Pleasantville become colorful, repressed desires surface, the 50 s lifestyle is
broken apart, and its citizens lives change in a strange, yet exciting way. Some people
are opposed to the transformation, but in the end the entire town turns to color and
the citizens are liberated.
This Gary Ross film is particularly captivating because of its revolutionary use of
selective coloring. Furthermore, it broke an all time record with more than 1700
special effect shots. Not only did this film create history with its special effects, but
also utilized them in order to address very important themes of ... Show more content

In the 1950 s it was encouraged to only have sexual desires while in a marital
context. In actual sitcoms played during the 50 s including, Father Knows Best,
Leave it to Beaver, and The Dick Van Dyke Show, sex was an avoided topic. For
instance, in these shows couples slept in separate beds in order to satisfy network
censors, just like in the beginning of Pleasantville. About halfway through the film,
once the town starts becoming colorful, there is one scene where people standing
outside a store are looking at a window display of a king sized bed in complete
bewilderment. As if the thought of two people sleeping in one bed is unbelievably
outrageous. This sexual suppression is what led to the sexual liberation during the 60

On the road to recovery or the road to extinction
Ever since the dawn of man, humans have interacted and interfered with nature.
Becoming an apex predator means having to push others out of the spotlight; over
thousands of years we participated in nature s little game, we learned, we adapted, we
survived! Nonetheless, others have not been that lucky. Due to human s creative
ability to adapt, humanoids have spread like a wildfire in a field of dry daisies
burning any creature that dared to stand in the path. Humans have helped accelerate
the new age of extinction for many animal species regardless of whether nature
wanted them gone or not. The human race is still developing; so primitive, yet so

Scientists have observed in the fossil record of how human activities have made
several hundred animals extinct in the last hundred years or so and several more

What is something society does that makes you hate? Many people have the
tendency to either reveal their emotions externally to the public or keep their
emotions wrapped inside. The poem, The Beginning of a Long Poem on Why I
Burned the City by Lawrence Benford and Jimmy the Terrorist by Omar Ahmed
reveal the effects of racism in society and how one may handle the situation. In
comparing, Benford and Ahmed reveal the effects of one s experiences of injustice
which can later follow into adulthood and the two ways it is handled. In the poem,
The Beginning of a Long Poem on Why I Burned the City , the speaker[grows] up in

knows being black living in his city, hate surrounds him. The hatred continues
where [he] shined shoes with [his] teeth , proving the city uses him as an object
rather than a person leading up to his anger (6,7). Unable to defend himself or do
anything at all because talking back would result in consequences, bringing
attention to him and his family. While in Jimmy the Terrorist , during Jamaal s
growing, his choice of the name Jimmy the Terrorist had a peculiar reason. The
violence of the last decade...knowing the face of [his] death at the age of fifteen , as
this was India, where not much your right or privilege, but a part of your identity

8. Managing Strategic Change at the Hmv Group
Managing Strategic Change At The HMV Group |
1. IntroductionHMV Group announced a three year strategic and operational review
in March 2007. The primary purpose of this dissertation is to analyse the methods
used to manage this strategic change and to discuss alternatives. The secondary focus
is to assess the decision to change. At a time of change, much focus is placed upon
developing strategy and not enough on the implementation and management side. It
is possible that a perfect strategy for a situation is wasted by poor implementation. A
specific strategy can be developed over night, however; successful strategy
implementation is a much longer process. In order to analyse HMV Group s change
management efforts, it is crucial to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
ParadoxThere are many paradoxical issues present in change management. Just one
manifestation of this would be middle managers withholding information they are
given to disseminate because they wish to retain their knowledgeable image;
defeating the point of a middle manager. Michael E Raynor (2007) in his book
entitled The Strategy Paradox presents the idea that a successful strategy requires the
full commitment of the organisation, which leads to unsuccessful performance
overall; due to over commitment. Flood and Dresher s (1950) Prisoners Dilemma,
applied to the world of business, will also conclude that non competition is the most
effective path in the long run. Both imply that strong competition efforts eventually
lead to failure that mediocrity is the best route to follow as companies have a silent
agreement to operate in a state of equilibrium. However, in the case of HMV Group,
its operating industry is in decline; therefore failure is the only eventuality of a failure
to compete. ContextAs identified above, much of the literature on the subject of
managing strategic change has an element of paradox attached to it. The logical
reason for this is that different methods depend on the circumstances the organisation
is faced with. As there are no exact laws of change management, this is what makes
the subject complex; but more interesting. Most of the literature aims to provide a
theory for each and every eventuality;
9. Parents Gay Parents
Introduction Recently, in most countries globally, rights that support homosexuality
have been passed. Due to this current situation, many researchers decided to find out
if it is true or not, whether parents who are gays influence the way their children
grow up in relation to their sexuality (Patterson, Charlotte and Rachel, p.121). This
subject has been a sensitive topic for quite a while and many people avoid in many
cases to discuss about it. Some researchers concluded that children who are under the
care of homosexual parents end up being gay in the future, while others in their
studies said that gay parents raise their kids normally as other heterosexual parents.
This argumentative paper debates on whether parents influence their kids sexuality. It
analyzes extensively both sides that is, the ones that agree that indeed it is affirmative
that gay parents raise gay children and those that refute that notion. Yes, I am
affirmative that gay parents raise homosexual children due to the studies conducted
by various scholars. Children especially at a tender age imitate what their parents do
(Tasker 173). Many of them view their guardians as their role models therefore, have
no option but to do exactly what goes on in their household. Several researchers have
interviewed children who were brought up in gay homes and their answers have
confirmed that their gay parents influenced their sexuality. Another issue that
confirms this argument is the fact that in gay homes, there
10. Analyzing Chamberlain s Seven Army Values
oshua L. Chamberlain was a greatly decorated and respected Union officer. During
the battle of Gettysburg, Chamberlain had acquired the rank of Brigadier General
and had led the 20th Maine Regiment to counterattack the Confederates. Joshua not
only had the daring ability to attack the Confederates but he had also had the ability
to persuade men that he d been given to continue fighting. Throughout the battle of
Gettysburg Chamberlain had displayed some, if not all, of the seven army values.
One of the most prominent values Joshua had displayed was respect. Early in the
morning, he had been approached by his right hand man Buster Kilrain, who had
informed Joshua that he was about to receive 120 veterans from the Second Maine.
However, these veterans had been accidentally signed up for three years in the
service instead of two like... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He had told the 150 men that he would not shoot them if they disobeyed him or
refused to fight. The reason for this is because most of the people that were in that
group were actually from Maine similar to Chamberlain. He knew that in a way it
would be against what loyalty means if he killed them. He didn t want to shoot
people that came from the same place as him and who decided to fight just like
him. He stays loyal to his country, his state, his brother and to his men that he had
been commanding. I would also say that he carried out his duty to his country.
Throughout his years of service he acquired the rank of Lieutenant Colonel of the
20th Maine Volunteer Infantry Regiment. He also displayed selfless service,
integrity and personal courage. These values are all relatively similar in that they all
have something to do with the way that one would carry themselves and their beliefs.
Judging from the way he treated the men he was in charge of showed us that he
would ve done anything in his power to defend them and fight right next to

13. The Main Goal Of An Artist
Similar to all great writers and innovators, the main goal of an artist is to spark a
creative perspective in the audience. Sarah Ruhl s oddly blunt play, Eurydice, was
meant to open up our minds and create an outlook that has never been achieved
before. Her intent was to keep us on our toes and read between the lines in order to
find the hidden truths in each line. The simplicity of the script was meant to be a
little strange and dull, but by doing this Ruhl entered a realm of playwriting that has
not been accomplished before. Usually, in the performances we watch we are
bombarded with long, complex sentences that leave the audienceconfused. The
vocabulary used is always either outdated or too complicated for many people to
understand quickly. However, in this place Ruhl took the opposite approach and
chose short and simple sentences, leaving more room for interpretation. By making
each line somewhat awkward and dull, Ruhl engages the audiences attention in order
to make sense of the words. Many factors could have motivated Ruhl to write her
play in such fashion. For example, when I was reading the playI connected her style
of writing to artists and poets of the 1960 s, like Bob Dylan and Jim Morrison, who
had such a beautiful yet simple play on words. Her outlandish sentences probably
made no sense to someone with a closed mind, this related directly to how the Dylan
and Morrison were perceived in their time as well. Many people didn t understand or

If any one unwarily draws in too close and hears the singing of the Sirens, his wife

Sirens and what they do to their victims. These Sirens just don t kill them and they

He had the eye of a vulture a pale blue eye with a film over it.Whenever it fell upon
me my blood ran cold Edgar Allen Poe was a famous writer in the 1800s who wrote
very sad and creepy stories. In most of Poe s stories , the narrator needs to solve a
problem and goes about it the wrong way and both the antagonist and the
protagonist die. In Poe s stories the theme of Think before you act is shown
through Plot,Character, and Conflict. Quaff ,oh quaff this kind nepenthe and

grief enter his heart and it is taking over. On the morrow he will leave me as my

chamber through the window and would not leave. He needs to let it go and move
on. There is no reason to be mad at the raven because of his sadness. In there
stepped a stately raven of the saintly days of yore. This is where he let the raven
enter his chamber/heart and grief along with it. Narrator is blaming the bird for his
depression. Don t ever blame something that has happened to you on another being....

16. The Impact Of Technology On Ancient Egypt
Technology in Ancient Egypt
When one thinks of Egypt, the first thing that comes to mind are the pyramids. The
pyramids are the most recognized art form in history because of its uniqueness and
aesthetics. This may be because for an ancient civilization, Egypt was astounding in
regards of technology. They did not just build one model of their ideal pyramid,
instead they created many over and over again, to establish a perfect resting place for
their ruler and the ruler s family. This verifies that the formation of the pyramids was
a thought out process that deserves the cultural distinction that we acknowledge in
modern times. The complexity and precision of the pyramids confirms that Egypt
was like no other, which further proves that the technology of Egypt was superb
compared to other ancient civilizations.
As in many cultures, death in Ancient Egypt was significant. It was seen as a
continuation of life, and Ancient Egyptians heavily emphasized that the survival of
the spirit in the afterlife depended upon the survival of the body of the deceased.
Meaning, they were no longer just thrown into the ground with they clothes they
died in. In fact, the death process became so serious that mummification was
evolved to ensure that the body would remain intact in its tomb, surrounded by its
possessions, for all of eternity.1. In the late Predynastic times, there was a shift from
simple graves, were the deceased were laid in a fetal position on their left side in the
sand

how the nervous system structures function whereas neuroanatomy is focused on the

Differential diagnosis can be used to determine if an individual has a language
disorder or if the issue is due to language differences. A language disorder is when
there is a noticeable difference between where a student s language skills are and
where they should be depending on the language development stage. Language
disorders can result from heritable language impairment, injuries to the brain, and
developmental disabilities. Language differences are the variations in language
between people. These differences can be a result of different dialects, gender,
genetic predispositions, and language learning environments. Using differential
diagnosis will allow a professional to determine if there is an issue with language
differences or if a language disorder is present. Language differences can be
mistaken as a language disorder due to similar symptoms or features. An example of
language differences that are mistaken as a language disorder is when a student
speaks using African American English (AAE) at a public school where Standard
American English (SAE) is used and taught. There are differences between the two
languages such as syntax and semantics but they are both governed by different rules.
A teacher might mistake a language difference for a language disorder based on the
differences between the two
18. The Protestant Reformation And The Reformation Essay
The Protestant Reformation
Why the Protestant Reformation is considered a significant development in the
Christian Church.
The Protestant Reformation was an event which occurred within the Catholic Church
during the 16th century. This Reformation was prompted by Martin Luther s 95
theses which were a list of 95 criticisms towards the church. The Reformation formed
another branch of Christianity called Protestantism which is comprised of many
different Christian denominations including Anglican, Presbyterian, and Lutheran.
The Protestant Reformation is considered a vital part of the Christian Church s history
and in order to explain why, this essay will look at three key parts of the reformation:
the events which lead to Luther nailing his 95 theses on the door of the church, the
event itself, and the consequences on the Catholic Church, the Protestant Church, and
Western Society.
The first cause that I am going to talk about is the corruption that was going on
within the Catholic Church which led Martin Luther to write his 95 theses. In
order to understand why people did what they did, one must understand that
everyone was religious and no one assumed that it might be possible that what they
were taught was wrong, heaven was up above and this was why the churches were
built tall, in order to be closer to heaven and god. Hell was below and was for the
sinners; and the in between state of Purgatory, for people who didn t deserve either.
Purgatory was considered a place of

Andrew Jackson acted more as King Andrew who incited mob rule rather than the
man of the people which he claimed to be. Andrew Jackson disagreed with different
government systems, moved his friends and allies into the cabinet, and closed the

course of America and took less interest in pubic opinion. Andrew Jacksonacted as
more of a king than a president. Jackson did not serve for the people of America,
Jackson served to change America how he believe it should be run. By ignoring the
government Jackson acts more like a king than a president. Jackson went against
Supreme Court decision and removed Indians from their land. As Jackson said in his
Second Annual Message to Congress Jackson commented that, the removal of the
Indians beyond the white settlements is approaching to a happy consummation (Doc
E). Indians on the land that Jackson forcibly removed them from was delegated as
their land by the Supreme Court. By going against the Supreme Court, Jackson did
not act presidentially. Also, The removal of Indians resulted in countless Indian
deaths and resulted in violence. Another example of Jackson attending to his own
agenda was the issue of nullification and South Carolina. Jackson had a personal bias
against John C. Calhoun, and threatened him when Calhoun exclaimed that South
Carolina would leave the union if Jackson didn t allow South Carolina to lower or
rid of the tariff on imported
21. Persuasive Essay On Child Sleep
That infant of yours took a while to make sense of the distinction amongst night
and day and you expected this. However, you didn t foresee that his entire first year
could abandon you having a feeling that you landed a position working the burial
ground move. On the off chance that lack of sleep makes them sob into your
espresso mug, take heart: It s conceivable to put a conclusion to those 2 a.m. wake up
calls.
So if the possibility of five entire hours of continuous rest sounds great to you, at that
point you may be keen on the accompanying infant rest tips to help your infant (and
you!) get a decent night s rest.
Here are some tips for you to make your Child sleep:
Tip 1: Look Out for the Signs: Your infant may not be a chatterbox presently, but
rather he invests a ton of energy attempting to speak with you. Similarly as children
have sustaining signs so you know when they re eager, they impart tiredness through
different practices. Losing enthusiasm for the things around him, going calm and
beginning to complain are all signs that your infant may be feeling languid. Take a
stab at putting your infant to bed when you see these tiredness signs. On the off
chance that you miss the signs, your infant will wind up plainly over drained and
crotchety and be substantially harder to settle.
Tip 2: Have A Bedtime Ritual: A sleep time custom enables infants and youthful kids
to comprehend what is coming next. A sleep time custom can quiet your child down
and set him up
22. Substance Abuse Effects
Many people fail to realize the solid impact social issues can have on our everyday
lives.
They have the power to affect our lives so greatly that they can leave a negative
mark on our lives as well as the lives of those around us. One main reason as to why
people commonly fall into addiction or substance abuse is the need to mask up
particular emotions that they don t want revealed. These particular emotions deal
with aspects of their lives such their family life, educational, or work aspects.
Abusing a drug can help a person forget certain problems for some time which
eventually leads to addiction when reaching the stage where they literally need the
drug to function. For this reason, illicit drugs such as, marijuana, heroin, cocaine, are

To abuse and to be addicted have their own separate meanings. However, one leads
to another and the two can cause a great deal of damage. To abuse means to misuse
something compared to being addicted to something which means physically and
mentally dependent on a particular substance, and unable to stop taking it without
incurring adverse effects. Although turning to a substance to receive a sense of
euphoria isn t always the right answer, people in areas that are below poverty level
may have nothing else to resort to. Newark, the largest city in New Jersey, remains
one of the more segregated cities in the state. This is mainly because it s African
American population is living almost entirely separate from its Hispanic and white
populations. As of 2017, it has a population of 277,140 where over 17.8% of
people are unemployed and 25.3% of individuals are below poverty level. Among
people within this city, drug abuse and addictions will reach an all time high due to
the social issues including, family, education, unemployment and public safety. After
researching more about each social issue as a whole, I have learned that is more
likely for people to turn to harmful substances in a city like Newark. The social

Summary
Gregory, John Milton. A 21st Century Perspective of The Seven Laws of Teaching.
Take Tenn Publications, 2006.
Reason for Selection and Author s Credentials
The Seven Laws of Teaching expounds on the rules and principles of teaching. The
reasoning behind the selection of this book is to help students understand the science
and the art of education. John Milton Gregory, the author of The Seven Laws of
Teaching, was involved in educational programs and associations for most of his
life. He succeeded in carrying out educational goals and won public popularity
which resulted in his election as the Superintendent of Public Instruction in
Michigan. In his later years, he dedicated much of his time to traveling and writing
educational works. Charles E. Walker is the editor of The Seven Laws of Teaching.
Walker served in Christian education for most of his lifetime. He has spent 20 years
as an educator. In addition, Walker authors many schoolimprovement manuals and
served as the editor of a Christian school journal. He has also written many other
Christian school publications.
Thesis Summary
The author wrote the book in hopes of explaining the seven factors found in every act
of teaching. The author hoped his work would influence teachers to methodically put
into action true teaching.
Main Points What is teaching? In the simplest terms, teaching is the communication
of knowledge (6). Knowledge includes skills, facts, morals, truth, doctrine, etc., and

24. Crack Cocaine And Drug Addiction
The drug crack cocaine is the crystalized form of cocaine that normally comes in a
powder form. Smoking crack cocaine, which is way stronger than crack itself, permits
the drug to reach the brain faster which brings a strong and almost instantaneous high
that endures for approximately fifteen minutes. Because crack cocaineaddiction can
develop quicker if the substance is smoked rather than inhaled, the user can develop
an addiction after their first time even experiencing the drug. Crack cocainehas a high
cost, while crack alone is traded at low cost. Once a crack cocaine user is addicted,
the amount that they tend to use increases and the price also increases causes a
direct struggle for funds in order to pay. The definitions of crack cocaine addictions
can vary, but most incorporate the fact that as a staple norm the persistent use of a
drug notwithstanding the presence of undesirable and damaging consequences and
concerns for the user s well being, employment, financial stability, and relationships
/associations. The significant component of crack cocaine is the users craving and
loss of control, indicating the failure of the user to change their uncontrollable
behavior. From doing research on this topic, I found that cocaine addiction was once
assumed to be mainly mental in nature. In the book that we read in class, Fast Lives
by Claire Sterk, she challenges the common misperceptions of crack cocaine and
shows us through study that the common perceptions that we have
25. Investigation of Human Emotion Essay
Investigation of Human Emotion
A key aspect of human behaviour is the ability to sense and feel emotions. Emotions
are defined as phenomena that are perceived by the body that causes a reaction;
often these responses have physiological characteristics. This essay will look at the
many psychological/ biological theories and ideologies involved in the concept of
emotion.
Human kind has evolved over the years to accommodate innovations in its biological,
physiological, psychological and social lifestyle. Information about the ways humans
can live appropriately have been passed on since the beginning of creation. New data
is also brought to attention as individuals have enhanced their intellect. The ... Show

Many theories have been proposed on emotion the simplest is known as the common
sense theory. This basically attributes emotion as a response to an experience, there is
a connection between the emotion and the visceral organs that are controlled by our
autonomic nervous system. For example one may face a hazardous situation such as
being confronted by a lion; this will trigger a part of the body that concludes danger.
This theory was disputed by one the most influential psychologists of the 19th
century, William James proposed that the common sense theory is incorrect the
individual in fact the emotions are a consequence of the bodily change. If one
perceives a dangerous situation there will be an immediate impact on the bodily
function e.g. increase heart rate this will then cause the individual to encounter an
emotional state.
William James s theory was claimed to be too simple to account for and there was
scope for further investigation to be carried out. Cannon bard had proposed a theory
that focused on cognitive mechanisms in emotion. They argued that emotions start
before any bodily changes, the recognition of danger for example will simultaneously
cause a change in bodily function and experience of an emotion. Another drawback to
James theory has been the notion of perception, Arnold challenges that the individual
has to

The Arctic like biomes has a very limited amount of plant and animal life compared
to other biomes. These Arctic like biomes would include the Arctic of course, the
Taiga, and the Tundra. They are very well known for its ridiculously cold and harsh
climate and is important because it helps moderate our global climate. One example
of an animalfrom these Arctic like biomes is the Mustela obsesipedetes. There is
little doubt that creatures in these Arctic like biomes are perfectly adapted for life in
the cold. In my personal opinion, I believe that the Mustela obsesipedetes is the most
well adapted creature in the whole entire Animalia. The species is a member of the
Mustela genus. The genus Mustela can be characterized by several, distinct... Show

The Mustela albus obesipedetes has adapted to its environment in many numerous
ways such as it is at the top of the food chain in the Arctic, Tundra, and Taiga despite
its appearance. An adaptation it has would be its light, snowy white coat of fur that
can turn into a shade of brown. Over the course of the biome s harsh winters, it snows
a tremendous amount, making everything white, icy, and snowy. In the winter, the
Mustela albus obesipedetes fur is snowy white and turns brown as it transitions to
the summer, blending into the environment. Another characteristic it has is its
ability to keep warm against the jarring cold weather. The Mustela albus
obesipedetes has insulated blubber, making it fat, but helps it keep cozy, warm, and
active throughout its day. The diet of the Mustela albus obesipedetes primarily
consists of meat, such as polar bears, wolves, eagles, foxes, and whatnot. Although
these animals may seem impossible for this small, vulnerable creature to catch, the

28. The Carrying Capacity Of A Tourist Resource
.
The carrying caapacity studies began during the 1930 s (O Reilly, 1986;
Saveriades, 2000), they were principally developed in the 1960 s in the national
parks of the United States of America (McCool and Lime, 2001; Manning et al.,
2002).The carrying capacity concept is essentially a decision making framework
informed by the regular measurement of agreed indicators of quality. The concept of
carrying capacity was derived in the early 1960 s from range management and was
applied to tourism and hospitality management. It was concluded that carrying
capacity is not just one single notion but an amalgamation of four different carrying
capacities which are namely physical, Ecological psychological and Economical.
Ecological carrying capacity relates to the maximum use of a tourist resource
without causing any harm to the environment. Social carrying capacity relates to the
reaction of the local people to the tourist development of the place, which should
never be negative, Psychological carrying capacity relates to the quality of visitors
satisfaction with a certain tourist destination, which is not to be decreased;
Economic carrying capacity relates to the level of acceptable dependence between
the local economy and the level of the tourist development of a place, which should
never become too heavy
The carrying capacity of any tourist destination, whether it be an historic building, a
beach or a dive site, is not a single figure that can be calculated and fixed. It is a
29. The Theories Of Interpersonal Communication
George Eliot, one of the leading writers of the Victorian era once said that Don t
judge a book by its cover . Nowadays, people tend to judge others by appearance
without even starting a conversation; but, people will find out they are wrong after
communicated with each other. This kind of situation can clearly be defined by the
theories of interpersonal communication. Interpersonal communication is a study of
exchanging information between two or more people. There are message sending and
message receiving during an interpersonal communication. A successful interpersonal
communication is when the receiver understands the message from the sender or a
group of people understand the sender s words with the same meaning. In this essay,

Nonverbal messages occurs during nonverbal communication; Nonverbal
communication is communication without words. One communicates nonverbally
when he/she gesture, smile or frown, widen his/her eyes, move his/her chair closer to
someone and so on (DeVito, 129). In the scene, body communication and eye
communication occurs during their conversation. To show that Jack is pointing at
Will, that standing on the entrance, Jack did not use any words but used his body
movement and eye contact on Joshamee. Joshamee receive Jack s message
successfully and accurately, he straight away turns his head to look at Will. This
involves the theory of body communication. Body communication is the gestures he
/she make with his/her body and his/her body s appearance (DeVito, 129). This also
involves theory of eye communication. Eye communication is explained by using
Occulesis s concept. Occulesis is the study of the messages communicated by the
eyes, which vary depending on the duration, direction, and quality of the eye behavior
(DeVito, 133). Next, the theory of culture and gesture under nonverbal
communication occurs during their conversation. [They] consider a few common
gestures that often use without thinking (DeVito, 153). They proposed a toast after
their discussion. Why do they do this? This action actually has a hidden meaning.
Without understanding, it is just a meaningless toast. This is the action of
celebration. They
30. A Better Prepared For Active Shooter Situations
To be better prepared for active shooter situations it is important to understand the
history and make up of an active shooter, and what to do in the event of an active
shooter situation. Active shooter situations are becoming more and more frequent,
due to the fact that they are rising in occurrences, it is essential to know how you can
better prepare yourself for such an event. An active shooteris defined as, an
individual actively engaged in killing or attempting to kill people in a confined
and populated area; in most cases, active shooters use п¬Ѓrearms(s) and there is no
pattern or method to their selection of victims . (U.S. Department of Homeland
Security, 2008) Most often active shooters events will end quickly, active shooters
will continue to move throughout building or area until stopped by law
enforcement, suicide, or other intervention. (Deputy Les Wiemers, n.d.) Active
shooter events have been occurring for a very long time throughout our history. One
case of domestic terrorism and school involved shooting happened on April 20,
1999. Columbine high School, located in Littleton, Colorado, two gunmen killed 13
people and wounded 21 others. Law enforcement agencies responded knowing they
had to set up a perimeter and wait for S.W.A.T to respond due to the need of special
tactics. The wait by Law Enforcement to make entry into the school, caused a delay in
eliminating the threat. The delay and lack of preparedness by students, and staff,

The Use of Sound and Music in Tennessee Williams A Streetcar Named Desire
Tennessee Williams (1911 1983) was born in Mississippi but moved to New
Orleans at the age of 28, there he found the inspiration for his play A Streetcar
Named Desire. The play is set in New Orleans and cooperates the vibe of the setting
particularly through music. Williams uses vivid music in this play which heightens its
themes such as madness and social differences.
The most distinct sound throughout the play is a musical piece called the Blue Piano .

sounds like. In the stage directions it is mostly described with adjectives such as it

Only a Paper Moon is sung by Blanche while she is bathing. She sings, say, it s only

believed in me (p.1821). The song suggests that fantasy can be reality if both
lovers believed. It is interesting how the lyrics are reliant on another person s
believe in an imaginary world to make fantasizing acceptable. Therefore, it seems
that Blanche is aware of how she is portrayed by others and how to avoid being
seen as psychotic. It is also made evident that she relies on another person to feel

32. Causation Of Major Depressive Disorder ( Mdd )
There could be numerous factors that could lead to the causation of major
depressive disorder (MDD). These different factors could also be linked with one
another depending on the particular individual suffering with the mental illness.
Fava and Kendler proposed that there are four major risk factors associated with
MDD, these include; gender, stressful life events, adverse childhood experiences
and certain personality traits (Fava Kendler, 2000). For an individual to have
experienced a major depressive episode specific symptoms must last for a duration
of at least two weeks where the person experiences depressed moods and showcase
a lack of interest or pleasure in the majority of activities. In young adults and
children the mood may seem more irritable than depressed, however this is not seen
across all individuals. People suffering from this depressive state will also have to
experience at least four additional symptoms for it to be classed as MDD, these can
include; Fluctuations in weight; changes to the individuals sleep pattern, and
psychomotor activity; feelings of worthlessness or guilt. Individuals may also find it
difficult to think, concentrate, or to make decisions. Recurrent thoughts of death and
/or suicide are also typical symptoms that an individual might have when suffering
with MDD (DSM IV, 2005). There are a variety of different approaches for the
treatment of MDD one being the psychodynamic approach. This seems to focus on
the assumption that an
33. The Balance Of Payment ( Bop ) Essay
According to Federal Reserve Bank of New York, The Balance of Payment (BOP)
is a statement used by a country to summarize an economy s transactions with the
rest of the world by both private and public sectors for a specified time period,
usually every quarter or year. It is known as Balance of International Payment , it
involves all transactions between a country s residents and its non residents
involving goods, services and income, financial claims on and liabilities to the rest of
the word. If a country has received money, this is known as a credit , and if a
country has paid or given money, the transaction is counted as a debit . Theoretically,
the BOP should be zero, meaning that assets (credits) and liabilities (debits) should
balance; however, in the reality, this is rarely the case.
The BOP is divided into 3 main categories: the current account, the capital account,
and the financial account:
1. The Current Account
The current account refers to the export and import of goods and services into a
country. Within the current account are credits and debits on the trade of
merchandise, including goods such as raw materials and manufactured goods that are
bought, sold or given away in the form of aid. Services refer to receipts from tourism,
transportation, engineering, business service fees such as lawyers or management
consulting, and royalties from patents and copyrights, and income generating assets
such as stocks. Last but not least, it includes the unilateral
34. Grapes Of Wrath Chapter 12
When examining John Steinbeck s, Grapes of Wrath he details the story of the Joads
an Oklahoma family on their way to California in the midsts of the Dust Bowl. As he
discusses their journey towards the american dream he inserts several intercalary
chapters that break up the discussion of the Joads and shifts the focus towards the
things that symbolizes them. In the novel there are several intercalary chaptersthat are
used to depict the lies and deceit that occurs to the Joads right under their nose.
One intercalary chapter that relates to the message of the whole book is a quote
from chapter 12. The quote states, That rattle that s tappets. Don t hurt a bit.
Tappets can rattle till Jesus comes again without no harm. But that thudding as the
car moves along can t hear that just kind of feel it. Maybe oil isn t gettin
someplace. Maybe a bearing s startin to go. Chapter 12 is written from the
perspective of Steinbeck. The Joads are on the road to California and the narrator
begins talking about California gas stations. Steinbeck says that there are used car
salesman who try and get the farmers to buy parts from them and insist to the
farmers that they need will need the parts and how their cars are the best in town. In
this particular scene a family is listening to the sound of the engine in the car. The
author uses a euphemism in this passage when he is speaking as the used car
salesman in order to make the travelers believe that the car is better than it is

One third of Native Americans live under the poverty line. Most families struggle

However, a lot of their efforts go to waste. According to the article Native Americans ,
Native Americans have high rates of poverty, infant mortality, unemployment, and
low high school completion rates, ( Native Americans ). The main causes of these
problems can be traced back to the beginning of the settlement of the United States.

In the constitution, the author gives men certain unalienable rights; however, Native
Americans were stripped of these rights, as well as rights regarding their race. For
instance, in the article Atrocities Against Native Americans the author lists the
constitutional rights that were withheld from Native Americans. Basic freedoms
were denied to Native Americans until the 1960 s. The right to vote was granted to
them in 1965, while freedom of speech, the right to a jury, and protection against
unreasonable searches and seizures were granted to them in 1968, ( Atrocities
Against Native Americans ). The constitutional rights that the United States claimed
to provide to everyone were refused to Native Americans because of their race and
background, much like other minority groups. The article The Legacy of Indian

white school in Indiantown, Florida, expelled, because of local whites objections,

how they related to the 1930s and how far his 1942 report went towards defeating

were defeated.
Britain s provision of welfare underwent a massive overhaul in the middle of the
second World War .William Beveridgeplayed a key role in these changes by writing a
report which revised the social security system. It was determined by Beveridge that
certain policies were required to combat the evils of society. They were referred to as

(Fraser 2003)
It is plain to see from the policies above that a comprehensive welfare system
offering benefits on a universal level was created from the report written by
William Beveridge. However, it was still subject to criticism. These
miscalculations and misjudgements meant the elderly, the disabled and the long
term unemployed still experienced poverty because the level of benefits were too
low. (Fraser 2003) Beveridge s vision was to have to little or no means tested
benefits, his idea was that very few people would fall into this category and it
would only be used as a safety net. That was not the case, more and more people,
mainly those on low incomes had to turn to means tested National Assistance benefit.
Beveridge did not fulfil his vision in this part of his plan. (Timmins 1996)
In conclusion the Welfare Statewas created on the principle that the state accepted a
responsibility to protect and promote the welfare of all citizens. It must be noted that
the system was designed to provide a national minimum, not reduce inequalities. I
have looked in detail at all aspects to combat the five giants and the popular support
when the Beveridge report was introduced. I have also looked at flaws in the system,
however the cornerstone of the Beveridgian welfare system, was left almost
untouched until the 1980 s.

38. Gerald Shlabach On Abortion
Abortion is a major social issue where many people obtain different perspectives
and opinions other than being one sided. People who are for or against abortion both
possess logical explanations as to why they choose which side of the issue they stand
on along with their own exceptions. The two different articles share the same issues
about abortion. One article is called Prolife Progression is Not an Oxymoron.
Written by Gerald Schlabach and published by the Commonweal magazine. The
second article is, According to Pro Aborts, Even Pictures of Babies in the Womb

Rights to Life News magazine. Both articles provide great insight and evidence;
however, Gerald Schlabach s article gives a more clear and concise persuasive
aspect of the issue, better word choice, organization, and more in depth support. An
author s word choice is critical for readers to understand the argument being made.
Van Maren s word choice does not support his audience. In his article, he talks as

The victim in tells her account of the incident. Additionally, there are other unnamed
individuals, but the speaker does not tell how many they are. Thus, for the sake of
consistency I decided to separate them into two: (1) the speaker/victim: a feminine
homosexual man who works the street (2) Two or more men/ the rapists.
The speaker shifts mood, from happy and optimistic to discontent and hopeless. From
the opening line to the closing line, we are presented with polarized emotions that are
irreconcilable. Especially, the turn at the end of the poem, serves as a conclusion that
tells the reader how traumatic the travesty was. The dialogue with the rapists is a one
way: the rapists ask two questions before attacking the victim, but the victim does not
respond to them. She only reports what occurred that night, which is narrated using
the past tense.

40. Reflection On How Have You Ever Learned The Best Lesson
Have you ever learned things the hard way? I sure have and I m sure you have too.
You would think that we would all learn that lesson the first time we experience it,
but sadly it seems to be one of those things we repeat... a lot! The following story
details one of my experiences where, despite having already learned the lesson, I
repeat it. For the most part my brothers and I love each other and treat each other
with respect. Saying that, it doesn t mean we always get along with one another.
Comparable to the time I was babysitting for my parents, they went to Door County
for their anniversary. Which left my three brothers, Ben, Evan, and Luke, with me
at home. We were outside playing like we do a lot during the summer and when it
started to get dark we decided to go inside. Before we go inside, we must clean up.
I tell the boys that we need to clean the yard of toys and put them away in the
garage. Although there was a ball in the corner of the yard and I didn t wait to get
it so I told Ben Go pick up the ball please. With the typical response from younger
brothers not wanting to do what their older brothers say he responds You go get it.
Then, still not wanting to get it, I use the I m in charge card and tell him in a little
bit more of a stern voice Go get the ball. Again he responds with the younger brother
mentality and says I don t wantto. You can get it if that big of a problem. This is
where things start to go bad. Evan and Luke finished picking up
41. Michigan Stadium Research Paper

Lurking off in the distance is one of two large scoreboard screens with the block M
and blue painted on it. Downtown Ann Arbor was as busy as a bee. There is
nothing like gameday in this city. Every single place is filled with people all
wearing the colors of maize and blue. Sidewalks in this city are lined with every
shop open selling anything with the block M on it. The smells of every kind of
barbeque you can imagine fill the air from everyone tailgating. Inside the stadium,
is where you can find the greatest time. Michigan stadium is a mecca for college
football fans. But it s not just the football fans that love this stadium. People from
all over come to the stadium to have the greatest hot dog ever assembled, The
Wolverine Dog, . The smell of these hot dogs greets every fan as they walk in.
Imagine the greatest smelling food, now multiply that by one million that s the smell
of this hot dog. The grass is as green as an emerald topped off with the Michigan
logo in the middle. One hundred nine thousand one people fills the blue bleachers
that the stadium has every single weekend during... Show more content on

All 109,901 fans rise up and all the eye can see is a sea of yellow going crazy like a
bee to an open pop can. Then the band plays the most beautiful song in the world,
The Victors. All the maize and blue fans stand up and sing the fight song so loud it
can be heard outside the stadium for miles. But the greatest feeling in the world that
nothing else matches, is when the team funnels out of the tunnel and runs under the
team banner. Every player runs out of the tunnel like a bat out of h e double hockey
sticks. They all jump up and tap the banner with a vision of navy jerseys hopping up
