Fashion Photography Essay
Crafting an essay on the subject of fashion photography can be a challenging yet rewarding
endeavor. This topic demands a delicate balance between the artistic aspects of photography and
the ever-evolving world of fashion. The difficulty arises from the need to delve into both realms
with depth and precision, exploring the intricate interplay between clothing, aesthetics, and
visual storytelling.
Firstly, understanding the historical context of fashion photography is essential. One must trace
its evolution from the early days of black and white images to the modern, digitally enhanced
compositions. This historical exploration serves as a foundation for discussing the significant
shifts in style, technique, and purpose over the years.
Moreover, delving into the technical aspects of photography poses another layer of complexity.
Discussing composition, lighting, and the use of diverse camera equipment requires a certain
level of expertise. Addressing how these elements contribute to capturing the essence of fashion,
conveying moods, and reflecting trends amplifies the challenge.
Beyond the technicalities, the essay must also navigate the intricate relationship between fashion
photography and societal trends. Analyzing how these images mirror or challenge cultural norms,
promote inclusivity, or perpetuate stereotypes adds depth to the exploration. This sociocultural
aspect demands a nuanced understanding of fashion's role in shaping and reflecting societal
values.
Furthermore, contemporary issues in fashion photography, such as the influence of social media,
ethical considerations, and the democratization of the field, present additional hurdles.
Balancing a critical perspective on these issues while acknowledging the industry's creative
dynamism requires a careful and informed approach.
In conclusion, composing an essay on fashion photography entails a multifaceted journey.
Navigating through the historical, technical, and sociocultural dimensions of this subject requires
a comprehensive understanding and the ability to articulate connections between these elements.
However, the challenge is outweighed by the opportunity to explore and appreciate the artistry
and significance embedded in the captivating world of fashion photography.

The And Its Effects On The Human Body
Implanted biomaterials provoke an inflammatory response, known as the foreign
body reaction {Daghighi, 2014 #119}. Following formation of adsorbed protein
layer, a cascade of inflammatory processes occurs on the biomaterial surface and the
extent of these events depends on the implantation procedure, target tissue/organ and
properties of the adsorbed protein layer {Anderson, 2008 #54}. The presence of
specific adsorbed proteins (especially vitronectin) in the layer influences the
inflammatory cell interaction with biomaterials and subsequent inflammatory
responses {Brodbeck, 2003 #56;Jenney, 2000 #55;McNally, 2008 #504;Wilson, 2005
#57}.
Currently, expression of at least 11 integrin subunits has been identified in immune
cells {Luo, 2007 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Interestingly, it has been shown that fibrinogen mediated acute inflammatory
responses to implanted biomaterials are induced by the RGD sequences in fibrinogen
{Tang, 1996 #297}. The discovery of numerous resident tissue macrophages
(OsteoMacs) on the endosteum and periosteum of bone may impact the bone
formation process and is likely to play an important factor in the future design of
implant materials for bone {Pettit, 2008 #233}.
As mentioned above, the onset of inflammatory response is associated with bleeding
at the fracture site that results in the development of a local hematoma. Inflammatory
cells like polymorphonuclear leukocytes infiltrate the hematoma and tissue adjacent
to the site of implant placement and secrete cytokines and growth factors
{Anderson, 2011 #499;Forster, 2012 #321;Brodbeck, 2005 #500}. This process is
controlled and regulated by various chemotactic and chemokinetic factors inherent in
the inflammatory response {Ziats, 1988 #501}. This acute phase resolves between a
few hours to days and progresses to a type of inflammation characterized by chronic
infiltration of macrophages and lymphocytes, which interplay to regulate their
adhesion to the surface of the biomaterial and their proliferation {Anderson, 2011
#499;Hu, 2001 #49;Luttikhuizen, 2006 #472;Brodbeck, 2005 #500}. Integrins
mediate adhesion of monocytes and macrophages to adsorbed conditioning films on

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Nifedipines
INTRODUCTION1 4
Nifedipine is calcium channel blocker widely used clinically, in the treatment of
cardiovascular disorders, including hypertension and angina pectoris.1. It has poor
aqueous solubility, resulting in variable dissolution rates and often irregular
bioavailability.2 The combination of low aqueous solubility and rapid absorption
from the gastrointestinal tract leads to its classification into class II of the
Biopharmaceutical Classification System3.
Pellets are agglomerates of fine powders or granules of bulk drugs and excipients
single most important factor responsible for the proliferation of pelletized products is
the popularity of controlled release technology in the delivery of drugs. When the
pellets containing active ingredient are administered in vivo in the form of
suspensions, capsules, or disintegrating tablets, they offer significant therapeutic
advantages over single unit dosage forms, since pellets ... Show more content on

When formulated as modified release dosage forms, pellets are less susceptible to
dose dumping than the reservoir type single unit formulations.4 Micropellets
technology delivers almost perfectly spherical particles exhibiting a very narrow
particle size distribution and excellent flow properties and these are characterized by
a smooth surface free of dust and thus provide optimal conditions for subsequent
film coating. Controlled release pellets are manufactured either to deliver the
bioactive agent at a specific site within the GIT or to sustain the action of drugs over
an extended period of time. While these results have been traditionally achieved
through the application of a functional coating material, at times the core pellets
themselves have been modified to provide the desired effect. This further enhances
the role of pellets in oral dosage form
Federal Highway Administration (FHWA)
Enhancing safety of pedestrians and cyclists is a significant concern of many
transportation agencies and the public. Providing safe routes for nonmotorized
traffic within and around work zones needs to be a priority since the casualty figures
are significant. U.S. Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) has made many rules
relate to pedestrians, including disability and bicyclist safety in work zones. A
Manual of Uniform TrafficControl Devices (MUTCD) is the national standard that
included the FHWA policy and guideline to accommodate the roadusers within and
around work zones. The implementation of these rules is done by state DOTs by
developing policies and procedures for evaluating and managing the safety for all
road users including
Mike Mcghee s Suicide In Texas
While cycling along a farm to market road in southeastern Texas Monday, Mike
McGhee was struck by a vehicle, breaking his shoulder, mangling his bike and
cracking his guitar. Actually I m in pretty good shape for the shape I m in. I m
extremely lucky, McGhee joked during a phone interview from his hotel in
Navasota, Texas where he will spend a few days recovering. I ve got a broken
shoulder but it s not really that bad it doesn t require surgery. McGhee said he had
minor bruises and scrapes and was kind of sore but intends to continue his journey
around the perimeter of the United States that he started on New Years Day.
McGhee had traveled to South Carolina, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi and
Louisiana before entering Texas a few days ago. Monday around lunchtime he was
hit by a passing car while travelling through Sam Houston State Forest in Navasota,
Texas just north of Houston. He said he has no recollection of being hit but the men

Analysis Of The Garden Of Earthly Delights
Throughout our class I have been shown many astounding works of art that tantalize
the eyes, mind and soul. From the astounding sculptures of Michelangelo the the
complex drawing of Da vinci and countless other artist that changed the world of art,
architecture and design. Though there was one work that we came across in class
recently that made me feel different compared to all the others i ve been shown. It
was beautiful yet disgusting, heavenly yet sinister, and more than anything
compelling. I am referring to a triptychpainting done by H. Bosch entitled Garden of
Earthly Delights .
The picture immediately stood out from the rest somewhat having an uncanny
modern feel to it. The piece is a 3 panel painting, also known as a triptych, The
Garden of Earthly Delights, oil on oak panels, 220 cm Г— 389 cm with each section
showing images of religion, damnation and over all madness. I was instantly
intrigued by what my eyes were taking in and then shortly after learning about how
there is so much mystery and uncertainty to the work only heightened this feeling. I
was hoping that looking the work up on my own time would be able to answer at
least some of my many questions; this was not the case. Solid factual information on
the pieces is extremely limited including the date of completion, the persons who
commissioned it, the purpose for it being commissioned, and most of all the meaning
and message the piece was meant to inflict. The accurate dating of The Garden of

The Low Sense Of Self Esteem
Starting as children, people are inclined to strive to be socially accepted. With
social standards being very difficult to fit into, many people feel as though they do
not belong to a set group of people; therefore, they tend to have a lower self esteem
which causes them to act out. Being isolated causes one to feel a lack of
confidence within themselves because him or her can feel as though they are not
wanted and do not belong. This low sense of self esteem affects a person s
motivation and mental health. Social norms can cause people to feel alone and as
though they have no one there for them. On the other hand, belonging to a
community or a specific group can allow people to feel as though they have a
support system, making them feel more confident in themselves and becoming
better in their overall life. Feeling accepted and supported by people can increase
intellectual activity and boost a person s self esteem tremendously. Belonging and
acceptance increase and decrease self esteem thus dictating a person s behavior.
Being a part of a community is nearly essential in the process of becoming an adult
because during the teenage years people are constantly shaped into who they will
be for the rest of their lives. Throughout my kid and teenage years, I have always
been a part of a dance team mixed with people my age, and younger or older. Being a
part of several teams has made me feel as though I belong to a group and has helped
me to gain a better sense of confidence in

Taking a Look at JP Morgan Chase
The earliest known predecessor known to JPMorgan Chase is in 1799 when it was
chartered in New York City. In 1784 Alexander Hamilton created the first National
Bank. Then in 1799 Hamilton s rival Aaron Burr a U.S senator and future vice
president founded the Bank of Manhattan Co. Over the years starting in 1991 many
big companies started to merge together creating giant corporations. In 1991
Manufacturers Hanover Corp. merged with Chemical Banking Corp. From then until
2000 many other companies were to merge and in 2000 J.P. Morgan Co. Incorporated
merged with The ChaseManhattan Corp combining four of the largest and oldest
money center banking institutions in New York City.
JPMorgan Chase is one of the leading global financial services with operations in

Middle School Persuasive Speech
Middle school is a weird time for everyone I am pretty sure. The three year time
period is filled with hormones, drama, and stinky boys who have yet to learn the
wonders of deodorant. You find friends, lose friends, everyone begins to get their
first phones, you start dating , and you gain a whole new taste of freedom that you
never had before that first day. All is which to be expected, but the one thing you can
not prepare an 11 year old girl, who has lived in a tight perfect bubble her whole life,
for is the death of someone close to you, someone you have looked up to for over
half of your short life.
I have never been a person who favors change, I have had the same haircut, same
bed spread, same house, and same style my whole life. So leaving the safety of my
familiar elementary school and heading to the big bad middle school was incredibly
difficult for me. I was a week into the school year when my best friend of five
years, Avery, stopped showing up. I knew it had something to do with her mom.
Avery s mom, Laurn, had a rare type of cancer that I could never quite remember
the name of. But for five years I watched her battle the extremely aggressive cancer.

Abraham Lincoln s Second Inaugural Address
On March 4, 1865 Abraham Lincoln delivered his second inaugural address as
president of the United States. The inaugural address came at the very end of the
American Civil War, and just a month before the assassination of Abraham Lincoln.
Prior to this address, the United States had been split into two different independent
states, the Union and the Confederacy. Throughout Abraham Lincolns first term and
the very beginning of his second, Lincoln had to deal with the secession of the
eleven states that made up the Confederacy. Also during the war, Lincoln
competed in the 1864 presidential election in which his leadership was challenged
by George B. McClellan. This inaugural address was important at the time, and
remains a relic of Abraham Lincoln s powerful speaking ability. In the late 1850 s,
tension were rising between the northern states and the southern states. These
tensions began long ago, but continued to rise before the election of 1860. The
main topic of debate at this time was slavery. Southern states relied on slavery for
economic production. Many in the north wanted to limit the spread of slavery, or
outright ban it. Those opposed to slavery had numerous reasons from political to
ethical and religious reasons. The election of 1860 had 4 large candidates: Abraham
Lincoln, John C Breckinridge, John Bell, and Stephen A. Douglas. Abraham Lincoln
won the popular vote and electoral vote and was elected president in 1860, taking
over from James Buchanan. In the

All Hail Macbeth in Shakespeare s Play
All hail Macbeth
One first learns of Macbeth through the eyes of a wounded captain, reporting on
what has happened on the battlefield. Macbeth is portrayed foremost as a couragious
warrior, who has fought well and won for his king and country.
It makes it seem as if Macbeth is a man with a good character.
However, the events during the play causes this reasonably good man to become a
tyrant, whose sole name blisters our tongues
At the beginning of the play, becoming the next king of Scotland has never even
entered the mind of Macbeth. The ambitious character he is portrayed as does not
come out until later in the play, after the all important event of the prophecy of the
witches.
This prophecy changes everything for Macbeth and dictates the entire play.
The prophecy says speaks of Macbeth, that shalt be king hereafter , as well as the
next thane of Cawdor. Soon after he has heard the prophecy, he finds out that he is
indeed been named the new thane of Cawdor.
Macbeth, who at first did not really believe the prophecy, is now forced to
reconsider. If one part of the prophecy is right, could the other parts of it come true
as well?
The prophecy is the first event of many on his road to becoming a tyrant.
It forces the vaulting ambition to come out. Without the prophecy, that trait might
have stayed in the background.
However, even after being named thane of Cawdor, Macbeth remains uncertain about
what to do next.
He writes about the events to his wife

Summary Of The Movie Black Robe
The movie Black Robe serves as a perfect example of the middle ground that existed
between the Algonquian Indians and the French colonists. Throughout the movie,
there are numerous depictions of the cohabitation between the two groups. Using the
movie, Black Robe, the following question will be answered through examples
presented in the movie; how does the film portray the middle ground between the
Algonquian Indians and the French colonists?
The movie itself was confusing at first in the beginning, however, it became easier to
follow as the plot progressed. The concept of a middle ground came about when the
French colonists came to America and encountered the Algonquian Indians. Both
groups of people lived together and shared aspects of their culture with one another.
For example, the French colonists learned the native language of the Indian people,
and the Indians learned French. The movie opens with the fur trade. The fur trade
showed a give and take relationship among the Algonquians and the French. The
Algonquians would help hunt and skin the animals, in exchange, the French would
give them whatever they needed. Another example of this give and take relationship
occurs during the beginning of the movie, where a group of Indians led by Chomina
escort Black Robe and David to the Huron Mission. One of the Indians makes a
comment to Black Robe that since they had paddled so hard that they should be given
something, specifically tobacco. To ensure that the
Analysis Of George Washington s President Of The United...
When George Washington was elected President in 1789 by members of the
fledgling United States of America, he was setting into motion a tradition that has
stood the test of over 225 years the presidential election. Even as the United States
has seen dozens of wars, made hundreds of scientific advances, and selected
thousands of politicians to seats everywhere from small town councils to Congress,
the principles of the electionhave remained the same; the people band together to
determine who will best protect their interests at home and assure that the US will
always remain on top in foreign policy. Oftentimes, this is found to be a difficult
decision, as public opinion is constantly wavering. One sees this in action particularly
during the 1992election a battle of wills between Bill Clinton, George H.W. Bush, and
Ross Perot; complete with lead changes, major vote swings, and Perot s
unprecedented initial success ultimately a false alarm to the bipartisan establishment.
Undoubtedly, the last 80 years have brought the biggest change to the election
process polling. Beginning with the Gallup poll in 1936, the industry has become a
titanic business, growing unregulated by the United States government. Frequently,
polls have come under fire for their inaccuracy, or for their role in blocking the
Democratic process (the 2000 and 2004 elections come to mind). Nonetheless, the
1992 election was not notable because of alleged bias, but because of what the polls
said about
Advantages Of Vertical Integration
Each partner in the supply chain either produces a different product, component, semi
finished or finished product or is responsible for the logistics or warehousing and
storage of the goods or product in the supply chain. The final product is therefore a
culmination of a whole range of tasks and processes which includes transport and
logistics, production and manufacturing processes, warehousing and storage.
When a company expands its business into areas that are at different points on the
same production path, such as when a manufacturer owns its supplier and / or
distributor and becomes involved in another task that they were not involved in
before. Below a fictional description of a vertical integration:

find in all the malls these days, they moved from production into

as the plane started to sink down into the sand, causing the back wheels to drift.
When the plane started to slow, I let the front wheel down onto the sand, slowly

Gpa Test Scores
Grades, GPA, and Test Scores Practical and theoretical values in using statistics to
predicting academic success. Grades, test scores, and GPA are used as criterion
across all grades and ages for predicting success. These statistics are used to allocate
resources to education. High school grades, GPA, ACT scores, SAT scores, and
essays are the criterion needed from universities to evaluate whether the student is a
good candidate. These factors alone determine the acceptance into a college.
Administrators think these scores are efficient enough to decide whether the student
will attend and whether the student will achieve success as a college student. The
process of getting into a universityor obtaining a higher educationdegree is a high
stakes situation. The reliability and validity of using GPA and grades can be
questioned. Grade inflation is not considered when making these high stakes
decisions. Grade inflation is high grades given for the same performance at
different levels of study or at different time periods (Poropat, 2009; Trapmann et al.,

Their research specifically examines the correlation of personality and SAT scores
and other standards of academic achievement and aptitude. SAT is one of the most
used standardized test used for the central role of college admission at most
universities. Although researchers have stated personality and intelligence are
conceptually distinct. More research needs to be done to clearly affirm that
statement. Noftle and Robins (2007) found that other research that supports the
correlation of personality and academic achievement, conscientiousness appeared to
be the key predictor of college grades. While the other four traits were not

The French Revolution And The American Revolution
The French Revolution Salahaldin Bileh History 101 Professor Manley October 7,
2015 Throughout history, there have been many Revolutions. The French Revolution
was a revolution that changed France history completely. The French Revolution did
not only changed history, but changed France s historical monarchy government to a
more republic government. The poor French citizens got the courage to start a
revolution from the American Revolution. The French Revolution started at 1789 and
ended at 1799. It was the most important event that changed the Western Civilization
history. The French Revolution was caused by its Economic hardship, its absolute
ruler: Louis XVI, international struggles, and political conflict. 1 The French
Revolution started with an absolute ruler and ended with an absolute ruler. In
France, the population was separated into three Estates. First, the Clergy, also
known as the Catholic Church, Numbered about 130,000 in a nation of 28

The 300,000 members of the nobility... controlled about 30 percent of the land.... 3
Third, the Peasants, the third estate included everyone else...Peasants accounted for
80 percent of the French population. 4 The peasants suffered a lot in this era of
unfairness. They worked so hard, at the same time, they didn t have something to
eat. Their daily meal was bread. King Louis XVI for years ignored peasants rights,

The simplest example of an instinctive behavior is a fixed action pattern, in which a
very short to medium length sequence of actions, without variation, are carried out in
response to a clearly defined stimulus.

These beliefs, like Fabre s belief that most behaviors were simply reflexive, also
proved to be too simplistic to account for the complex emotional and social behavior
of human beings.
An interest in innate behaviors arose again in the 1950s with Konrad Lorenz and
Nikolaas Tinbergen, who made the distinction between instinct and learned behaviors.
Our modern understanding of instinctual behavior in animals owes much to their
work. For instance, in imprinting a bird has a sensitive period during which it learns
who its mother is. Konrad Lorenz famously had a goose imprint on his boots.
Thereafter the goose would follow whomever wore the boots. The identity of the
goose s mother was learned, but the goose s behavior towards the boots was
instinctive...[citation needed]
In psychology[edit source | editbeta]
The term instinct in psychology was first used in 1870s by Wilhelm Wundt. By the
close of the 19th century, most repeated behavior was considered instinctual. In a
survey of the literature at that time, one researcher chronicled 4,000 human instincts,
having applied this label to any behavior that was repetitive.[citation needed] As
research became more rigorous and terms better defined, instinct as an explanation
for human behavior became less common. In a conference in 1960, chaired by Frank
Beach, a pioneer in comparative psychology, and attended by luminaries in the field,
the term was restricted in its application.[citation needed] During the 60 s and

Essay about Napoleon I
Napoleon I
Napoleon s life was a very interesting one. Starting a poor boy, hated by most, rising
to rule a huge empire, and then finally being destroyed by his own arrogance and
ending his life humbled, remembering what he had doe, and leaving it all in his
memoirs for the world to read.
Napoleon was born in 1769, on the Island of Corsica. His parents, Carlo and
Letizia Bonaparte, were poor nobles. When Napoleon was just 10 years old, his
father helped to get him a mathematical scholarship to a military school at
Brienne. In the school, Napoleon was hated and considered a foreigner. With no
friends, Napoleon concentrated on academics, but still only graduated 42nd in us

He then went further into Italy, pushing into the Lombardy region. He took the
stronghold at
Mantua after a long siege, and was heading toward Venice with little resistance when
the Austrians surrendered, and Napoleon negotiated the treaty of Campo
Formio, which ended what is now called the war of the first coalition. While in
Italy, Napoleon took large amounts of money and art to bring to France. When
Napoleon returned from Italy, it was suggested that he invade England. Instead, he
decided to invade British owned Egypt. After sneaking by the British navy,
Napoleon landed in Egypt, and quickly carried out the occupation. While
Napoleon as inland, the British destroyed the French fleet, leaving Napoleon stuck in
Egypt.
In early 1799, the Ottoman empire declared war on France. To stop the
Ottoman s from invading Egypt, Napoleon invaded Syria, but was turned back by
Turkish troops. By mid 1799, the second coalition (formed by the
Ottoman s and Austrians) were defeating French forces in Europe, so Napoleon
decided to return to France. When Napoleon arrived in Paris, he began a conspiracy
to overthrow the government. He succeeded, and created a new government called
the consulate, of which Napoleon became the first consul. As consul, Napoleon
made many good changes in France. He created the Napoleonic code, which set up a
complex code of civil law in the nation. He worked with the Pope to reestablish the

The Argument Of The Logical Problem Of Evil
Introduction In this paper, I will break apart J. L. Mackie s stern defense of the
logical problem of evil, which he uses to suggest the God does not exist. I will
attempt to defend the notion that both God and evil, in the form of human creation,
can exist in the world by way of suggesting that freewill is the answer. Furthermore, I
will strengthen the argument for freewill against Mackie s defense, which suggests
that the argument of freewill also compromises the Omni three nature of God. In part,
I will back freewill by using Mackie s own logic against him. In its totality, I will
build up a strong force against the logical problem of evil, leaving room for both the
existence of human formed evil and God in this world under the... Show more content

Seemingly, the presence of evil says either God does not want all good or God is
not actually powerful enough to follow through with his desire for all good. In
either case, the only way for God and evil to coexist is if God gives up one of his
Omni Three components, which in essence makes him not God in the defined
terms. To put it another way, if God exist then by his nature, being all good and all
powerful, its only logical for the world to, also, be all good, which of course it is
not. Ultimately, Mackie uses this logic to argue God cannot exist if evil disseminated
through the universe, which it clearly does, leaving the only conclusion to reject God
s existence.
Argument
Now that s all well and good, except for the fact that the logical problem of evil
spends so much time focused on the omnipotent and the omnibenevolent aspects of
God that is all together neglects the fact that God is also omniscient. He knows
everything, past, present, and future. Therefore, it is only logical to assume that
God also knows the best way to achieve the greatest good, which as established is
the singular goal of an omnibenevolent being. If such knowledge is true, as it must
be according to the laws of Omni three, then it is possible that God has determined
that the greatest good can only come by human choice, also known as freewill, not
by His force. In a bit, I will attempt to explain just

The Crime Of Criminal Justice
When it Comes to Criminals
Violence and crime have been splattered on the pages of history for centuries.
Sadly, however, they will be part of the future as well. Is being a police officer or
investigator as cool as they make it seem on television? Criminal Minds is just one
of the many investigative television shows that keep its audience pondering over the
reality of crimes. Criminal Minds portrays the psychologist as having a more active
role than they really do, explained Marc T. Zucker, academic chair of the

Furthermore, apart from degrees, this specific career field will require very good

Personal Statement On The Field
When I was on a softball team a few years ago, me and my teammates would
communicate through the essentials of communication which are process, meaning,
and symbolic communication both on and off the baseball field. In example, when
we are on the field, we communicate in procedural ways in order to reach a goal. We
were engaging in action when we were practicing and using our knowledge when
implementing a strategic plan on how we would play the different opponents we
faced especially in crucial games. My teammates were all different races so we all
had different cultural backgrounds. There were people on my team who were of
American, African American, Asian, Lebanese, Puerto Rican, and Dominican
descent. Therefore, my language was constantly changing when communicating
between my Hispanic and American teammates. Our interpersonal competence and
determination to win depicted the outcome of our games. However, most of us
shared the same desire and effort in helping each other learn and grow with the team.
Before our games would begin, some teammates practiced different ways based on
their cultural roots. For instance, some Dominican teammates would practice their
hitting skills by playing a game that is popular in their country. The game consisted of
a long thin stick longer than a bat and thinner than a ruler. The balls that was used to
pitch to the hitter was the shape of a hockey puck only smaller and thinner. This
technique is mainly used to improve hitting skills and

Historic Life Of Indigenous People And Europeans
Historic Life of Indigenous People and Europeans Europeans were the first to travel
to the New World, where they came to discover a diversity of Native American
People living there. These indigenous people had unique languages and beliefs.
Europeans observed the distinct people and began to wonder how they migrated to
this New World. It was not until Hernan Cortes arrival in Mexicothat new empires
began to immerge onto this new society. The first main Mesoamerican civilizations
were the Olmecs. They were first heard of residing in the Southern regions of
Mexico in which they lived in unique organized villages. These villages were
effective in their crops which included corn, beans, chile peppers and cotton. The
villages were effective in a way that everyone had an important role in helping each
other out to survive. Two significant cities during the Olmec history were the
establishment of San Lorenzo and La Venta. These cities were political, economic
and religious centers. Olmecs had a distinct lifestyle, such as their earliest inventions
such as the Mesoamerican ball game and tortillas. The Aztecs and Mayan civilizations
groups shared Olmec backgrounds. Mayans possessed kingdoms that had authority
over the majority of populations. They were talented in inventing pottery and
calendars. According to Susan Schroeder, ...Most Mesoamericans had worked out for

An Aspirant’s Tentative Look into the Field of

never consider the journey a career will require us to endure. Take becoming a
neurologist for example; one could argue numerous ways of attaining such a
position. It is a fact, however, that in the pursuit of a medical degree, the
combination of major and minor during one s undergraduate years is key in the
future success of an aspiring student. In light of this, the most ideal major and minor

medical doctors, including neurologists, purchase. The cost of this malpractice

Pope Sixtus Influence On The Roman Church
Today I ll be talking about Francesco della Rovere whom later became Pope Sixtus
IV from the 14th century who was mostly known for his renovation and sizable
projects throughout Rome which became a supreme element and feature of Rome
s cityscape by the late 15th century. Sixtus assumed to the spiritual role as Pope of
the Roman Catholic Church on the 14th of December 1471 1484 and almost
immediately got renovations and building projects underway from the Ponte Sisto
to the Vatican Library and many streets throughout Rome. Prior to becoming Pope,
Sixtus was a prominent scholar and theologian and acquired his doctorate in 1444.
Unfortunately most facts about Sixtus before he was Pope are not to be found or
are quite rare which leads some historians to think that Sixtus could of been
ashamed of his prior life. However we do know that he came from poor family, his
father was either a fisherman or a cloth trader, and he became very close friends
with the della Rovere family. According to a few sources I found he became so

Self And Place In Waiting For The Barbarians
In this thesis, the goal is to examine how the sense of Self and Place is portrayed
and influenced by colonialism, in two postcolonial fictional South African novels;
J.M. Coetzee s Waiting for the Barbarians and Nadine Gordimer s Burger s
Daughter. Both authors have won the Nobel Prize for Literature, in 1991
Gordimer was the first South African author to receive this Prize, and Coetzee
joined her in 2003. First of all, Coetzee s novel Waiting for the Barbarians offers
the story of the Magistrate going through a crisis of conscience in a complicated
place, however the Magistrate serves as a parallel for all human beings living under
regimes that disregard lawfulness and respectable behaviour. Secondly, Gordimer s
novel Burger s Daughter materialized... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was Nelson Mandela himself who said on the 3rd of July 1999: The experience of

quite interesting and stimulating to explore these issues from respectively Nadine
Gordimer s female point of view, and J.M. Coetzee s male point of view through
their novels. Not to mention, that both the authors are critically of each other s work.
Actually, in 1988 Coetzee and Gordimer got caught in a disturbing public
disagreement regarding Salman Rushdie s invitation to speak about his controversial
novel Satanic Verses, for which the British Indian author received numerous threats
to his life. Retrospectively, Coetzee admitted that he was wrong and Gordimer, in
her prudence, was right to argue that Rushdie s invitation to speak in South Africa
should be withdrawn. Therefore, it is my assumption that examining as well as
identifying the sense of Self and Place in the Nobel Laureates novels, Waiting for the

Although alcoholism can be developed due to excessive consumption, a user is at

alcoholism are craving, impaired control, tolerance, and physical dependence. 3,4
For most adults, moderate alcohol use is up to two drinks per day for men and one

Are there any benefits of alcohol intake? Prior to my research I would have

2 oz or 30 mL of 90 proof alcohol, or slightly less than three 12 oz beers reduce a

Chinese-American Code Switching
Code Switching is the ability to change one s language from two or more different
languages or even dialects while talking. Code switching serves as a means of
connecting individuals with certain communities. This can be seen with speakers of
Spanish, who might code switch to Spanglish in order to exclude those around them
that they know will not understand. We can also see an example of this in Lo s
study of code switching. Chazz, a Chinese American, code switches into Korean
when he wants to associate his opinion with Ken, a Korean American. With the same
use of code switching Ken states, Doshite Why (in Japanese), (466.) In order to
distance himself from Chazz, Ken code switches into Japanese because he does not

All fast food restaurants have their own little dirty secrets. Some are clean whereas
some are filthy and should be shut down. There are several shows on television today

This can also result in the growth of bacteria. All restaurants are responsible for
their employees being taught the correct way to cook or prepare food. Their
employees should be certified in the safe serve classes. One reason that Chinese
restaurants are not certified in safe serve is because they do not take the courses
before or after they open their restaurants.
As far as Burger King is concerned they do not require their employees to be trained
or certified. They always hire young teenagers to work in their restaurants. Young
people do not care or think about cleanliness of the food or restaurant. They are only
concerned with making a paycheck and going home. When employees do not care
about their restaurant they tend to make mistakes that can cause customers to get
sick. There have been reports of children getting so sick that they almost died after
eating at Burger King.
China Buffet was closed down because of sewage backing up in the basement of the
restaurant, and for storing chemicals such as, roach spray, ant spray, and cleaning
chemicals, right next to the food. They also got in trouble for not having any soap or
bleach for cleaning and sanitizing the restaurant. The owners decided not to reopen
the restaurant because it would cost too much money to fix all of the problems that
were found during the inspection. It was cheaper for them to just open up another

Fashion Photography Essay. Fashion Essay in English 750 Words Essay Top 3

  • 1. Fashion Photography Essay Crafting an essay on the subject of fashion photography can be a challenging yet rewarding endeavor. This topic demands a delicate balance between the artistic aspects of photography and the ever-evolving world of fashion. The difficulty arises from the need to delve into both realms with depth and precision, exploring the intricate interplay between clothing, aesthetics, and visual storytelling. Firstly, understanding the historical context of fashion photography is essential. One must trace its evolution from the early days of black and white images to the modern, digitally enhanced compositions. This historical exploration serves as a foundation for discussing the significant shifts in style, technique, and purpose over the years. Moreover, delving into the technical aspects of photography poses another layer of complexity. Discussing composition, lighting, and the use of diverse camera equipment requires a certain level of expertise. Addressing how these elements contribute to capturing the essence of fashion, conveying moods, and reflecting trends amplifies the challenge. Beyond the technicalities, the essay must also navigate the intricate relationship between fashion photography and societal trends. Analyzing how these images mirror or challenge cultural norms, promote inclusivity, or perpetuate stereotypes adds depth to the exploration. This sociocultural aspect demands a nuanced understanding of fashion's role in shaping and reflecting societal values. Furthermore, contemporary issues in fashion photography, such as the influence of social media, ethical considerations, and the democratization of the field, present additional hurdles. Balancing a critical perspective on these issues while acknowledging the industry's creative dynamism requires a careful and informed approach. In conclusion, composing an essay on fashion photography entails a multifaceted journey. Navigating through the historical, technical, and sociocultural dimensions of this subject requires a comprehensive understanding and the ability to articulate connections between these elements. However, the challenge is outweighed by the opportunity to explore and appreciate the artistry and significance embedded in the captivating world of fashion photography. • 2. The And Its Effects On The Human Body Implanted biomaterials provoke an inflammatory response, known as the foreign body reaction {Daghighi, 2014 #119}. Following formation of adsorbed protein layer, a cascade of inflammatory processes occurs on the biomaterial surface and the extent of these events depends on the implantation procedure, target tissue/organ and properties of the adsorbed protein layer {Anderson, 2008 #54}. The presence of specific adsorbed proteins (especially vitronectin) in the layer influences the inflammatory cell interaction with biomaterials and subsequent inflammatory responses {Brodbeck, 2003 #56;Jenney, 2000 #55;McNally, 2008 #504;Wilson, 2005 #57}. Currently, expression of at least 11 integrin subunits has been identified in immune cells {Luo, 2007 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Interestingly, it has been shown that fibrinogen mediated acute inflammatory responses to implanted biomaterials are induced by the RGD sequences in fibrinogen {Tang, 1996 #297}. The discovery of numerous resident tissue macrophages (OsteoMacs) on the endosteum and periosteum of bone may impact the bone formation process and is likely to play an important factor in the future design of implant materials for bone {Pettit, 2008 #233}. As mentioned above, the onset of inflammatory response is associated with bleeding at the fracture site that results in the development of a local hematoma. Inflammatory cells like polymorphonuclear leukocytes infiltrate the hematoma and tissue adjacent to the site of implant placement and secrete cytokines and growth factors {Anderson, 2011 #499;Forster, 2012 #321;Brodbeck, 2005 #500}. This process is controlled and regulated by various chemotactic and chemokinetic factors inherent in the inflammatory response {Ziats, 1988 #501}. This acute phase resolves between a few hours to days and progresses to a type of inflammation characterized by chronic infiltration of macrophages and lymphocytes, which interplay to regulate their adhesion to the surface of the biomaterial and their proliferation {Anderson, 2011 #499;Hu, 2001 #49;Luttikhuizen, 2006 #472;Brodbeck, 2005 #500}. Integrins mediate adhesion of monocytes and macrophages to adsorbed conditioning films on implanted biomaterial surfaces containing fibronectin {Keselowsky,
  • 3. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Nifedipines INTRODUCTION1 4 Nifedipine is calcium channel blocker widely used clinically, in the treatment of cardiovascular disorders, including hypertension and angina pectoris.1. It has poor aqueous solubility, resulting in variable dissolution rates and often irregular bioavailability.2 The combination of low aqueous solubility and rapid absorption from the gastrointestinal tract leads to its classification into class II of the Biopharmaceutical Classification System3. Pellets are agglomerates of fine powders or granules of bulk drugs and excipients single most important factor responsible for the proliferation of pelletized products is the popularity of controlled release technology in the delivery of drugs. When the pellets containing active ingredient are administered in vivo in the form of suspensions, capsules, or disintegrating tablets, they offer significant therapeutic advantages over single unit dosage forms, since pellets ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When formulated as modified release dosage forms, pellets are less susceptible to dose dumping than the reservoir type single unit formulations.4 Micropellets technology delivers almost perfectly spherical particles exhibiting a very narrow particle size distribution and excellent flow properties and these are characterized by a smooth surface free of dust and thus provide optimal conditions for subsequent film coating. Controlled release pellets are manufactured either to deliver the bioactive agent at a specific site within the GIT or to sustain the action of drugs over an extended period of time. While these results have been traditionally achieved through the application of a functional coating material, at times the core pellets themselves have been modified to provide the desired effect. This further enhances the role of pellets in oral dosage form
  • 4. Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) Enhancing safety of pedestrians and cyclists is a significant concern of many transportation agencies and the public. Providing safe routes for nonmotorized traffic within and around work zones needs to be a priority since the casualty figures are significant. U.S. Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) has made many rules relate to pedestrians, including disability and bicyclist safety in work zones. A Manual of Uniform TrafficControl Devices (MUTCD) is the national standard that included the FHWA policy and guideline to accommodate the roadusers within and around work zones. The implementation of these rules is done by state DOTs by developing policies and procedures for evaluating and managing the safety for all road users including

Mike Mcghee s Suicide In Texas While cycling along a farm to market road in southeastern Texas Monday, Mike McGhee was struck by a vehicle, breaking his shoulder, mangling his bike and cracking his guitar. From the astounding sculptures of Michelangelo the the complex drawing of Da vinci and countless other artist that changed the world of art, architecture and design. Though there was one work that we came across in class recently that made me feel different compared to all the others i ve been shown. It was beautiful yet disgusting, heavenly yet sinister, and more than anything compelling. I am referring to a triptychpainting done by H. Bosch entitled Garden of Earthly Delights . The picture immediately stood out from the rest somewhat having an uncanny modern feel to it. The piece is a 3 panel painting, also known as a triptych, The Garden of Earthly Delights, oil on oak panels, 220 cm Г— 389 cm with each section showing images of religion, damnation and over all madness. I was instantly intrigued by what my eyes were taking in and then shortly after learning about how there is so much mystery and uncertainty to the work only heightened this feeling. I was hoping that looking the work up on my own time would be able to answer at least some of my many questions; this was not the case. Solid factual information on the pieces is extremely limited including the date of completion, the persons who commissioned it, the purpose for it being commissioned, and most of all the meaning and message the piece was meant to inflict. • 8. The Low Sense Of Self Esteem Starting as children, people are inclined to strive to be socially accepted. With social standards being very difficult to fit into, many people feel as though they do not belong to a set group of people; therefore, they tend to have a lower self esteem which causes them to act out. Being isolated causes one to feel a lack of confidence within themselves because him or her can feel as though they are not wanted and do not belong. This low sense of self esteem affects a person s motivation and mental health. Social norms can cause people to feel alone and as though they have no one there for them. On the other hand, belonging to a community or a specific group can allow people to feel as though they have a support system, making them feel more confident in themselves and becoming better in their overall life. Feeling accepted and supported by people can increase intellectual activity and boost a person s self esteem tremendously. Belonging and acceptance increase and decrease self esteem thus dictating a person s behavior. Being a part of a community is nearly essential in the process of becoming an adult because during the teenage years people are constantly shaped into who they will be for the rest of their lives. Throughout my kid and teenage years, I have always been a part of a dance team mixed with people my age, and younger or older. The inaugural address came at the very end of the American Civil War, and just a month before the assassination of Abraham Lincoln. Prior to this address, the United States had been split into two different independent states, the Union and the Confederacy. Throughout Abraham Lincolns first term and the very beginning of his second, Lincoln had to deal with the secession of the eleven states that made up the Confederacy. Also during the war, Lincoln competed in the 1864 presidential election in which his leadership was challenged by George B. McClellan. This inaugural address was important at the time, and remains a relic of Abraham Lincoln s powerful speaking ability. In the late 1850 s, tension were rising between the northern states and the southern states. These tensions began long ago, but continued to rise before the election of 1860. The main topic of debate at this time was slavery. Southern states relied on slavery for economic production. Many in the north wanted to limit the spread of slavery, or outright ban it. Those opposed to slavery had numerous reasons from political to ethical and religious reasons. The election of 1860 had 4 large candidates: Abraham Lincoln, John C Breckinridge, John Bell, and Stephen A. Douglas. Abraham Lincoln won the popular vote and electoral vote and was elected president in 1860, taking over from James Buchanan. In the

Macbeth is portrayed foremost as a couragious warrior, who has fought well and won for his king and country. It makes it seem as if Macbeth is a man with a good character. However, the events during the play causes this reasonably good man to become a tyrant, whose sole name blisters our tongues At the beginning of the play, becoming the next king of Scotland has never even entered the mind of Macbeth. The ambitious character he is portrayed as does not come out until later in the play, after the all important event of the prophecy of the witches. This prophecy changes everything for Macbeth and dictates the entire play. The prophecy says speaks of Macbeth, that shalt be king hereafter , as well as the next thane of Cawdor. Soon after he has heard the prophecy, he finds out that he is indeed been named the new thane of Cawdor. Macbeth, who at first did not really believe the prophecy, is now forced to reconsider. If one part of the prophecy is right, could the other parts of it come true as well? The prophecy is the first event of many on his road to becoming a tyrant. It forces the vaulting ambition to come out. Without the prophecy, that trait might have stayed in the background. However, even after being named thane of Cawdor, Macbeth remains uncertain about what to do next. He writes about the events to his wife

  • 17. Summary Of The Movie Black Robe The movie Black Robe serves as a perfect example of the middle ground that existed between the Algonquian Indians and the French colonists. Throughout the movie, there are numerous depictions of the cohabitation between the two groups. Using the movie, Black Robe, the following question will be answered through examples presented in the movie; how does the film portray the middle ground between the Algonquian Indians and the French colonists? The movie itself was confusing at first in the beginning, however, it became easier to follow as the plot progressed. The concept of a middle ground came about when the French colonists came to America and encountered the Algonquian Indians. Both groups of people lived together and shared aspects of their culture with one another. For example, the French colonists learned the native language of the Indian people, and the Indians learned French. The movie opens with the fur trade. The fur trade showed a give and take relationship among the Algonquians and the French. The Algonquians would help hunt and skin the animals, in exchange, the French would give them whatever they needed. Another example of this give and take relationship occurs during the beginning of the movie, where a group of Indians led by Chomina escort Black Robe and David to the Huron Mission. One of the Indians makes a comment to Black Robe that since they had paddled so hard that they should be given something, specifically tobacco. To ensure that the

When George Washington was elected President in 1789 by members of the fledgling United States of America, he was setting into motion a tradition that has stood the test of over 225 years the presidential election. Even as the United States has seen dozens of wars, made hundreds of scientific advances, and selected thousands of politicians to seats everywhere from small town councils to Congress, the principles of the electionhave remained the same; the people band together to determine who will best protect their interests at home and assure that the US will always remain on top in foreign policy. Oftentimes, this is found to be a difficult decision, as public opinion is constantly wavering. One sees this in action particularly during the 1992election a battle of wills between Bill Clinton, George H.W. Bush, and Ross Perot; complete with lead changes, major vote swings, and Perot s unprecedented initial success ultimately a false alarm to the bipartisan establishment. Undoubtedly, the last 80 years have brought the biggest change to the election process polling. Beginning with the Gallup poll in 1936, the industry has become a titanic business, growing unregulated by the United States government. Frequently, polls have come under fire for their inaccuracy, or for their role in blocking the Democratic process (the 2000 and 2004 elections come to mind). Nonetheless, the 1992 election was not notable because of alleged bias, but because of what the polls said about

Grades, test scores, and GPA are used as criterion across all grades and ages for predicting success. These statistics are used to allocate resources to education. High school grades, GPA, ACT scores, SAT scores, and essays are the criterion needed from universities to evaluate whether the student is a good candidate. These factors alone determine the acceptance into a college. Administrators think these scores are efficient enough to decide whether the student will attend and whether the student will achieve success as a college student. Furthermore, I will strengthen the argument for freewill against Mackie s defense, which suggests that the argument of freewill also compromises the Omni three nature of God. In its totality, I will build up a strong force against the logical problem of evil, leaving room for both the existence of human formed evil and God in this world under the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Seemingly, the presence of evil says either God does not want all good or God is not actually powerful enough to follow through with his desire for all good. In either case, the only way for God and evil to coexist is if God gives up one of his Omni Three components, which in essence makes him not God in the defined terms. To put it another way, if God exist then by his nature, being all good and all powerful, its only logical for the world to, also, be all good, which of course it is not. Ultimately, Mackie uses this logic to argue God cannot exist if evil disseminated through the universe, which it clearly does, leaving the only conclusion to reject God s existence. Argument Now that s all well and good, except for the fact that the logical problem of evil spends so much time focused on the omnipotent and the omnibenevolent aspects of God that is all together neglects the fact that God is also omniscient. He knows everything, past, present, and future. Therefore, it is only logical to assume that God also knows the best way to achieve the greatest good, which as established is the singular goal of an omnibenevolent being. If such knowledge is true, as it must be according to the laws of Omni three, then it is possible that God has determined that the greatest good can only come by human choice, also known as freewill, not by His force. Sadly, however, they will be part of the future as well. Is being a police officer or investigator as cool as they make it seem on television? Criminal Minds is just one of the many investigative television shows that keep its audience pondering over the reality of crimes. Criminal Minds portrays the psychologist as having a more active role than they really do, explained Marc T. Furthermore, apart from degrees, this specific career field will require very good communication and people skills as well. Personal Statement On The Field When I was on a softball team a few years ago, me and my teammates would communicate through the essentials of communication which are process, meaning, and symbolic communication both on and off the baseball field. In example, when we are on the field, we communicate in procedural ways in order to reach a goal. We were engaging in action when we were practicing and using our knowledge when implementing a strategic plan on how we would play the different opponents we faced especially in crucial games. My teammates were all different races so we all had different cultural backgrounds. There were people on my team who were of American, African American, Asian, Lebanese, Puerto Rican, and Dominican descent. Therefore, my language was constantly changing when communicating between my Hispanic and American teammates. Our interpersonal competence and determination to win depicted the outcome of our games. However, most of us shared the same desire and effort in helping each other learn and grow with the team. Before our games would begin, some teammates practiced different ways based on their cultural roots. For instance, some Dominican teammates would practice their hitting skills by playing a game that is popular in their country. The game consisted of a long thin stick longer than a bat and thinner than a ruler. The balls that was used to pitch to the hitter was the shape of a hockey puck only smaller and thinner. This technique is mainly used to improve hitting skills and

Historic Life Of Indigenous People And Europeans Historic Life of Indigenous People and Europeans Europeans were the first to travel to the New World, where they came to discover a diversity of Native American People living there. These indigenous people had unique languages and beliefs. Europeans observed the distinct people and began to wonder how they migrated to this New World. It was not until Hernan Cortes arrival in Mexicothat new empires began to immerge onto this new society. The first main Mesoamerican civilizations were the Olmecs. They were first heard of residing in the Southern regions of Mexico in which they lived in unique organized villages. These villages were effective in their crops which included corn, beans, chile peppers and cotton. The villages were effective in a way that everyone had an important role in helping each other out to survive. Two significant cities during the Olmec history were the establishment of San Lorenzo and La Venta. These cities were political, economic and religious centers. Olmecs had a distinct lifestyle, such as their earliest inventions such as the Mesoamerican ball game and tortillas. The Aztecs and Mayan civilizations groups shared Olmec backgrounds. Some of us dream of becoming famous, others dream of careers that represent honor and prestige. Interestingly enough, at such a young most of us never consider the journey a career will require us to endure. Take becoming a neurologist for example; one could argue numerous ways of attaining such a position. It is a fact, however, that in the pursuit of a medical degree, the combination of major and minor during one s undergraduate years is key in the future success of an aspiring student. As well endowed as an aspiring neurologist s pockets can possibly be one day, the fact remains that while traipsing through a residency, a student will undoubtedly in a mountain of debt. It goes without saying that sleep is a luxury rarely afforded for those who pursue a professional career in medicine. As stated by Dionne Gibson, a student of Emory University in the Doctor of

Pope Sixtus Influence On The Roman Church Today I ll be talking about Francesco della Rovere whom later became Pope Sixtus IV from the 14th century who was mostly known for his renovation and sizable projects throughout Rome which became a supreme element and feature of Rome s cityscape by the late 15th century. Sixtus assumed to the spiritual role as Pope of the Roman Catholic Church on the 14th of December 1471 1484 and almost immediately got renovations and building projects underway from the Ponte Sisto to the Vatican Library and many streets throughout Rome. Prior to becoming Pope, Sixtus was a prominent scholar and theologian and acquired his doctorate in 1444. Unfortunately most facts about Sixtus before he was Pope are not to be found or are quite rare which leads some historians to think that Sixtus could of been ashamed of his prior life. The Sistine Chapel, under the reign of Sixtus IV, contained fresco decorative paintings. The painted imagery contained the first 30 Popes along with Martyrs, the feast of the Assumption of Mary, which was the altarpiece, among Christian iconography of the Christ and Moses, whom was a popular theme in the chapel by the Pope s request. Self And Place In Waiting For The Barbarians In this thesis, the goal is to examine how the sense of Self and Place is portrayed and influenced by colonialism, in two postcolonial fictional South African novels; J.M. Coetzee s Waiting for the Barbarians and Nadine Gordimer s Burger s Daughter. Both authors have won the Nobel Prize for Literature, in 1991 Gordimer was the first South African author to receive this Prize, and Coetzee joined her in 2003. First of all, Coetzee s novel Waiting for the Barbarians offers the story of the Magistrate going through a crisis of conscience in a complicated place, however the Magistrate serves as a parallel for all human beings living under regimes that disregard lawfulness and respectable behaviour. Secondly, Gordimer s novel Burger s Daughter materialized... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was Nelson Mandela himself who said on the 3rd of July 1999: The experience of others has taught us that nations that do not deal with the past are haunted by it for generations we should forgive but not forget (O Reilly 46). Furthermore, it will be quite interesting and stimulating to explore these issues from respectively Nadine Gordimer s female point of view, and J.M. Coetzee s male point of view through their novels. Not to mention, that both the authors are critically of each other s work. Actually, in 1988 Coetzee and Gordimer got caught in a disturbing public disagreement regarding Salman Rushdie s invitation to speak about his controversial novel Satanic Verses, for which the British Indian author received numerous threats to his life. Retrospectively, Coetzee admitted that he was wrong and Gordimer, in her prudence, was right to argue that Rushdie s invitation to speak in South Africa should be withdrawn. Therefore, it is my assumption that examining as well as identifying the sense of Self and Place in the Nobel Laureates novels, Waiting for the Barbarians and Burger s Daughter, will be an interesting and rewarding

Although alcoholism can be developed due to excessive consumption, a user is at higher risk when the disease runs in the family. The four main symptoms of alcoholism are craving, impaired control, tolerance, and physical dependence. 3,4 For most adults, moderate alcohol use is up to two drinks per day for men and one drink per day for women and older people. Code switching serves as a means of connecting individuals with certain communities. This can be seen with speakers of Spanish, who might code switch to Spanglish in order to exclude those around them that they know will not understand. We can also see an example of this in Lo s study of code switching. Chazz, a Chinese American, code switches into Korean when he wants to associate his opinion with Ken, a Korean American. Their employees should be certified in the safe serve classes. One reason that Chinese restaurants are not certified in safe serve is because they do not take the courses before or after they open their restaurants. As far as Burger King is concerned they do not require their employees to be trained or certified. They always hire young teenagers to work in their restaurants. Young people do not care or think about cleanliness of the food or restaurant. They are only concerned with making a paycheck and going home. When employees do not care about their restaurant they tend to make mistakes that can cause customers to get sick. There have been reports of children getting so sick that they almost died after eating at Burger King. China Buffet was closed down because of sewage backing up in the basement of the restaurant, and for storing chemicals such as, roach spray, ant spray, and cleaning chemicals, right next to the food. They also got in trouble for not having any soap or bleach for cleaning and sanitizing the restaurant. The owners decided not to reopen the restaurant because it would cost too much money to fix all of the problems that were found during the inspection.
