A social network is defined as a chain of
individuals and their personal
connections. Expanding one’s connections
with other people is a technique that can be used
both for personal or business reasons.
Social networking applications make use of the
associations between individuals to further
facilitate the creation of new connections with
other people. This could be used to meet new
friends and connect with old ones, as many
people do on Facebook, or to expand one’s
professional connections through a business
network like LinkedIn.
Now, even relationships begin, grow and
end on social media. People no longer need a
personal handshake or face-to-face meeting.
As per the statistics revealed on Statista,
approximately 2 billion users used social
networking sites and apps in 2015. And, with the
increased use of mobile devices, this number is
likely to cross the 2.6 billion mark by 2018.
