1. 1. Share stories with your family from the past. Relive funny moments, tell stories about
being a kid and share stories you may have never told your kids. If there were stories
your grandparents enjoyed telling you, you should share those too.
2. We made pancakes on one of the last days of school. Listen to your child and follow
their instructions how to make it. Enjoy!
3. Get silly and do some acting. You can go all out and even dress up your family as the
characters and use props. Remember, no pressure; you are doing it just for fun.
Children will want to be every character.
4. Play Charades. Divide the family into two groups and make a list of words to be acted
out. You can decide together on a category (farm/ jungle animals, favourite cartoons,
etc), write the words down and try acting out one at a time for your team. Whoever
guesses more of them wins!
5. Bake cupcakes together! Preparation time: 20 minutes, baking 15mins! You can find a
simple recipe here: https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/cupcakes
6. Make an obstacle course for children to go through around the house. Use cushions,
stable chairs and coffee tables to make obstacles. You can use sticky tape to make
arrows on the floor to show the direction in which they should be going.
7. Play hot/ cold. Hide an object or sweets somewhere in the house. One person after
another takes turns to find it. The rest of the family says ‘warm, warmer, hot, boiling’
as the person approaches the hidden object. They say cold, colder, freezing as the
person goes further away from the object. Play until the object is found.
8. Play egg race from the kitchen to the dining room. Use plastic eggs or real eggs for
extra excitement! Remember to use spaces without rugs/ carpets as it can get messy!
9. Play musical statues. Play a song and ask the family to dance as if no one was looking.
When the music stops, they all have to freeze. Whoever is still moving drops out. Play
until there is only one person on the dance floor. Musical chairs is a similar game but
instead of ‘freezing’ still the players have to find a chair on the dancefloor and sit on it.
There always should be one chair less than the number of people (for example: 4
people, only 3 chairs). The one without the seat is eliminated. Play until there are two
players and one chair left- the one who sits down is the winner.
10. Do a whole family Yoga session. Play the Frozen yoga video from YouTube and join in
with the instructor! Guaranteed laugh!
11. Just dance! Use a video from YouTube and try to imitate the dancers. Children will
love seeing their parents doing it!
12. Hot potato. One person to play/ stop music, the rest sit in a circle and pass around/
throw a small ball or potato as fast as they can. Stop the music rapidly. Whoever is left
with the potato in their hands loses.
