This document outlines the Reading and Analyzing Nonfiction (RAN) strategy for researching a topic. It involves students creating a KWL chart where they record what they think they know, what they want to confirm or learn, and any misconceptions. Students then conduct research to confirm their prior knowledge, identify and discard any misconceptions, discover new information, and raise additional questions. The goal is for students to organize what they've learned and potentially write a class book on the topic.
