This document provides an agenda for a meeting on Facebook updates, SEO strategy, and a bad SEO case study. The agenda includes introductions, a case study on using a parasite page strategy to leverage other sites' authority, news on recent Facebook changes, and a roundtable discussion. It also summarizes a case study where a large UK bank, Halifax, lost 20% of traffic overnight due to negative SEO tactics like link networks, keyword stuffed content, and improper internal linking.

How Agencies & Advertisers Can Make the Most of Paid Media Right NowSearch Engine Journal
During an economic downturn, ad market dynamics and ad buyer behaviors shift. Amid these changes, it’s critical for consumer brands to continue to advertise.
Marketers and the agencies that work with them can continue to drive growth through smart segmentation, even while the economy softens.
The key is to focus on where you get the best results, using channels that enable flexibility and targeting audiences that show intent.
In this presentation, Dan Dillon, VP of Marketing at Reveal Mobile, provides practical and actionable guidance for advertising to audiences who are most likely to convert.
You will learn:
- Three audience segments you can geotarget to fit your campaign goals.
- What advertising channels give you the most flexibility and the best return.
- How to measure results in the context of recessionary consumer behavior.
Bonus: We’ll share how to find a wide range of high-intent consumer audiences when most people are staying home.
Google only crawls about half the pages on large enterprise websites, meaning those pages won’t be added to the index.
This also means they can’t rank or generate organic traffic and revenue for the business. That’s the bad news.
SEO for large websites simply cannot start with rankings and keywords or you will miss an enormous opportunity.
Enterprise website owners need to go deeper and focus on the entire search process – starting with its technical foundation and how search engines crawl it, to how its real audience engage with it.
The good news is that enterprises can experience massive wins simply by removing the barriers that currently stand between Google and their website.
In this presentation, you’ll learn:
– Why some of the largest sites on the web struggle to get their key pages crawled.
– How a crawling-to-conversions framework solves this problem.
– Steps you can take to implement this holistic SEO framework.
How to Write SEO Proposals That Prove Your Value & Eliminate Client ConcernsSearch Engine Journal

We’ll cover:
– How the typical pitching process works and what usually goes wrong.
– Tips to improve your agency’s SEO proposals.
– The elements of an SEO proposal that you need to highlight.

In this webinar, Mark Munroe, CEO at SEORadar, will demonstrate how to easily integrate SEO testing into the QA process to prevent SEO problems from ever going live.
You will learn:
– An SEO testing process that will help you avoid failed migrations, rogue redirects, inadvertent noindexing, disappearing tags, and more.
– Why the key to safe SEO is catching problems before they get deployed.
– How to use audit tools, especially change monitoring, to catch inadvertent problems.

Over 2 Trillion searches are made per day in Google search, which means there are more than 2 Trillion visits happening across the websites of the world wide web.
People search various questions, phrases or words. But some words and phrases are searched
more often than others.
For example, the words, ‘running shoes’ are searched more often than ‘best road running
shoes for men’
These words or phrases which people use to search on Google are called Keywords.
Some keywords are searched more often than others. Number of times a keyword is searched
for in a month is called keyword volume.
Some keywords have more relevant results than others. For the phrase “running shoes” we
get more than 80M relevant results, whereas for “best road running shoes for men” we get
only 8.
The former keyword ‘running shoes’ has way more competition from popular websites to
new and small blogs, whereas the latter keyword doesn’t have that much competition. This
search competition for a keyword is called search difficulty of a keyword or keyword
difficulty.
In other words, if the keyword difficulty is ‘low’ or ‘easy’, there won’t be any competition
and if you target such keywords on your site, you can easily rank on the front page of Google.
Some keywords are searched for, just to know or to learn some information about something,
that’s their search intention. For example, “What shoe size should I choose?” or “How to pick
the right shoe size?”
These keywords which are searched just to know about stuff are called informational
keywords. Typically people who are searching this type of keywords are top of a Conversion
funnel.
Conversion funnel is the journey that search visitors go through on their way to an email
subscription or a premium subscription to the services you offer or a purchase of products
you sell or recommend using your referral link.
For some buyers, research is the most important part when they have to buy a product.
Depending on that, their journey either widens or narrows down. These types of buyers are
Researchers and they spend more time with informational keywords.
Conversion is the action you want from your search visitors. Number of conversions that you
get for every 100 search visitors is called Conversion rate.

Friends vs Pages
Through testing, we have found that when people see more text status updates on
Facebook they write more status updates themselves. In fact, in our initial test when we
showed more status updates from friends it led to on average 9 million more status
updates written each day. Because of this, we showed people more text status updates in
their News Feed.
Over time, we noticed that this effect wasn't true for text status updates from Pages. As
a result, the latest update to News Feed ranking treats text status updates from Pages as
a different category to text status updates from friends. We are learning that posts from
Pages behave differently to posts from friends and we are working to improve our
ranking algorithms so that we do a better job of differentiating between the two types.
Page admins can expect a decrease in the distribution of their text status updates, but
they may see some increases in engagement and distribution for other story types.
