9. Selection is defined as a passage excerpted (or selected) from
a longer text. Reading selection can be influenced by culture,
history, environment and other factors.
Culture is the characteristic features of everyday existence
(such as diversions or a way of life) shared by people in a
place or time. Culture influences a selection through religious
ideas, moral values and gender norms, just to name a few
potential variables.
History plays a fundamental role in shaping literature: every
novel, play or poem ones reads is influenced by the political
context in which it is written, the people that the author knows
and the wider society that frames the entire work.
10. Environment the circumstances, objects or conditions
by which one is surrounded
Heritage is a legacy from the ancestors which does not
only affect the present but is also a big impact to the
future.
Natural heritage refers to the diverse geological
structures and formations, Heritage is that which is
inherited from past generations, maintained in the
present and bestowed to the future generations. The
term "natural heritage" is derived from "natural
inheritance".
12. Culture
Think about stories where characters celebrate
special holidays or follow certain traditions. For example, in a
story set in Japan, characters might celebrate the Cherry
Blossom Festival or practice tea ceremonies, showing their
unique culture.
13. History
Consider stories that talk about events from the past,
like wars or important discoveries. For instance, a story about
World War II might show how people lived during that time and
how it affected their daily lives.
14. Environment
Imagine stories set in different places like a
bustling city or a quiet countryside. In a city, characters
might face traffic jams and crowded streets, while in the
countryside, they might deal with wide-open spaces and
nature's challenges like storms or wildlife encounters.
15. Other Factors
Sometimes, things like technology or economy
can change how a story unfolds. For example, in a
futuristic story, characters might use advanced gadgets
like flying cars or robots to solve problems, showing how
technology shapes their world.
