Wealth And Pride In My Last Duchess By Robert Browning
In the dramatic monologue, My Last Duchess Robert Browning tells of a Duke that murdered his
wife because she was easily pleased by the advances of other men. In the poem, the Duke is the
speaker and is guiding a guest through his home until they come across a portrait of the Duchess.
Through the Dukes speech, it is obviously that he is a very prideful person and cares a lot for his
wealth. Due to his wealth and status, he has become arrogant and demanding. When he desires are
not fulfilled he will go to the extreme and kill someone. Robert Browninguses literary devices such
as symbolism and allusion to reflect the themes of wealth and pride. The symbolism in the poem is
an important aspect that demonstrates the pridefulness and wealth

Landfills In Jeremy Irons
The world may appear to be perfect from space, but, according to Jeremy Irons, the view is far
different on the surface. In Saida, Lebanon alone, what was once treasure on beaches has turned
to into trash. Since 1975, 8 tons of waste has been dumped on its beaches, creating a 20 meter
high trash mountain that spills methane into the city and the sea. However, this is not a
problem that is just present in certain places. The world throws away 200 billion plastic bottles,
58 billion throwaway cups, and billions of plastic bags in a single year. It is clear that trash is a
major problem for the entire world, and Irons focuses on the problems it causes and the many
ways that its problems are being taken care of during his Trashed documentary. Multiple cities
face issues surround the use of landfills around the planet. Yorkshire, England faces one of the
biggest problems with trash in Europe with the expansion of its landfill setting out to become
one of the tallest in the world. Beijing, China is almost out of space for trash even with the
presence of over 400 landfills, and 14 dumps in the state of New York have reached full capacity.
Paul Connett, a professor of Chemistry, says that the problem lies in the fact that the world keeps
putting things into the ground that will not break down. Instead of trash becoming a part of the
earth, we are left with cases like that in Gloucestershire, England, where 15,000 people live near a
landfill that allowed to dump 1,500 tons of

A Report on Medical History, Law, Prostitution, and Public...
Medical History Law, Prostitution and Public Health John Scott, in his paper, Prostitution and
public health in New South Wales accurately describes the way that prostitutes are seen in this
particular region and in the rest of the world. Prostitutes working in public spaces have been
presented as sexual agents willfully engaged in criminal conduct and the spread of contagion
(2003). This is clearly a more or less universal opinion of prostitutes and prostitution. However, as
Scott points out, in New South Wales, They [prostitutes] have been made subject to strategic
interventions that have attempted to normalize prostitution and render the prostitute a hygienic
subject (2003). While no such attempts have been overtly made in a widespread manner throughout
the United States, similar efforts have been made elsewhere in order to protect the healthof general
public and promote the overall good. Those who wish to consume the services of prostitution will
ultimately continue to do so, regardless of whether or not it is legal or illegal. At the very least
steps should be taken to make the act of indulging in such things a more sanitary act, comparable to
clean needle exchange programs for intravenous drug users. The breadth of interventions justified
by the interests of public healthdemonstrates that the relationship between public health and
prostitution is far deeper than the use of population statistics and outbreak investigations to curb the
spread of disease

Prison Life Life behind bars in a prison environment is difficult to inmates to accept and that society
will continue without them. Jail and state inmates have similarities, are also different when
detained, and incarceration. The federal, state, and local jails have similar programs for prisoners
and rehabilitation process. The prison system will change an offender for the better or worse. Prison
life is subject to change anybody that enters prison.
Jail and prison inmates are different. For example, prison inmates serve a minimum sentence term

It is not surprising that the causes of violence and disorders in prison are consistent with a much
larger body of research on the causes of violence and disorder in our communities. There is some
evidence that inmate, staff, and management centered strategies can reduce prison violence and
disorder. It appears that more research on each of these approaches to the prison violence
problem is needed to determine the causes behind each type of violence. These approaches to the
prison violence problem is needed before we can access the what works in any area (Byrne,

A Bright Eyed And Brand New shit Bag E 4
Introduction A bright eyed and brand new shit bag E 4 (as my First Sergeant would joke because
of my college) SPC Thompson, fresh out of basic training, arrived in Italy to start my career as an
Paratrooper. It wasn t long before our unit Able Company, 2nd Battalion, 503rd Infantry, 173rd
Airborne, found ourselves on the eve of yet another deployment. We had trained for months for an
Iraq deployment and at the last minute we were slated to go to Afghanistan, in particular the Pech
River Valley in Afghanistan s Kunar Province. Most my leadership was experienced in combat from
their previous deployments, however their combat knowledge came from previous Iraq
deployments, and their last deployment to Afghanistan Operation Enduring Freedom... Show more

Our squad consisted of 7 total Paratroopers, accompanied by a few of our 10th Mountain
counterparts we made our way to the OP to conduct the relief in place. After a seemingly day
long journey, we arrived to the OP, our home for the next 10 days. OP 2 was a small plot of land,
approximately 75 meters in width by 50 meters long, surrounded by triple strand Constantina wire,
three small structures (one made of stone the other wood and sand bags) and 5 Claymore Mines
positioned up the mountain and covering areas of dead space. One of the structures served as a
machine gun bunker and tactical operations command post with an M240B machine gun facing up
the mountain and an M2 .50 Caliber machine gun facing across the valley. The other two served as
sleeping areas for US forces, sleeping about 5 comfortably, and a small Afghanistan National Army
(ANA) contingent of 4 to 5 soldiers.
The 10th Mountain squad was haggard looking and wore cut off Army Combat Uniform shorts, t
shirts, sandals, ball caps and those who could grow them, had beards. Our initial reaction was that
this was a relaxed atmosphere and from what we gathered rarely made contact with the enemy. Our
mission was to simply provide a site where we could relay radio communications throughout the
valley should an element need help reaching our company command and provide an early warning
and deterrent

Gender Roles And Kids Toys Essay
Gender Roles and Kids Toys
In David Barry s article, Guys vs. Men, he discussed the differences between guys and men . This
article made several valid points, including that guys will try and out perform each other where
sports are concerned and that the space shuttle is the ultimate guy toy. My question is why do only
guys play with all the neat toys?
Part of the answer to this question might be that men are encouraged to play with hi tech toys
while girls are given a Barbi doll or a toy oven. The best time to see how these differences are
encouraged by our society is during the Holiday season. The toys I have seen for boys are mainly
Star Wars action figures or Nintendo 64 games. The toys advertised for girls were mostly easy...

In the 1950s that was a logical assumption, but in the 1990s more women work outside of the home.
In 1959 the percentage of women working that were 20 years or older according to the U.S. Bureau
of Labor was 36.3%. In 1997 the figure is 58.5%. For men in 1959 the figure was 83.3%. For men
in 1997 the figure is 74.2.
With the increase of women entering the work force it would be more logical to focus on toys that
might encourage the child to develop an interest that could turn into a career. Even though I would
encourage young girls to play with other toys besides Barbi, I am not recommending that boys be
encouraged to play with dolls.
Even computer games are designed with gender in mind. A new computer game that was just
released is a Barbi game where the girls go shopping with Barbi and she can be programmed to
call them by name. I absolutely shudder every time I see this game advertised on T.V. The games
that are aimed at the boys are football, hockey, or Star Wars games.
As boys grow into men and girls grow into women the computer gaming industry begins to focus
more on the male population. It is challenging to try and find a game that is not directed at men.
The type of bias can simply be having a male figure that is designated as the player, this is a
technique that The 7Th Guest employed, or a game that thrives on violence and has very little plot
line. The one game that I came across that actually had

The Greatest Generation Research Paper
The Back Bone of America
The Greatest Generation is just one of the names for this particular special group of people. They
are generally known as the G.I. (or Traditionalist) generation from the years of 1920 to 1945. Why
are they known also as the greatest generation? Because of the events that had happened during
their time, their values and work ethics would make them the greatest generation.
Events that had happened during their time that would help to make them great. They survived the
great depression and then would win the war in World War II. During the depression when the

Youth Homelessness In Canada
Youth homelessness in Canada is on the rise and it has become one of the most concerning and
growing issues across the country. It is estimated that at least 235 000 Canadians experience
homelessness at some point every year, 35 000 Canadians experience homelessness every night
and approximately 20 % of the homeless population are young people between the ages of 16 and
24(Gaetz et al, 2014). Contrary to popular belief, the leading causes of homelessnessyouth in
Canada are the result of a variety of different factors like economic hardships and unstable housing
situations, relational circumstances (family conflict, abuse, discrimination) and system failures.
Most homeless people are not on street by choice. In most cases, families facing economic
adversities due to poverty and unstable housing situations are unable to support their family
members. It becomes hard for young people to pay for their own place or shelter because there is
a lack of affordable housing. In some other cases, homeless youth come from generational poverty
and are forced to leave home when they become a burden on the family. ... Show more content on

with parents is the main reason Canadian youth leave home. According to reports, 77.5 % of the

fact that they are not able to get along with their parents. A large number of young people identifies
physical, sexual, or other forms of abuse as contributing to their homelessness representing the
staggering number of 53.8%. Another cause is the abusive relation relationships at home as well as

Breastfeeding Intention, Motivation And Initiation Essay
Breastfeeding Intention, Motivation and Initiation
The small amount of breastfeeding intention research that exists focuses heavily on populations
considered at risk, referring to those in economically disadvantaged areas or lower wage earners
with lower educational backgrounds, often with lower maternal age and worse outcomes in the
birth process (Cabieses et al., 2014; Declercq et al., 2014; Holbrook et al., 2013; Li et al., 2005:
McInnes et al., 2001; Shaker et al., 2004). These studies show that women s attitudes regarding
breastfeeding create strong motivators for the intent to breastfeed. Those with positive associations
with breastfeeding are most likely to want to breastfeed and those with negative associations with
breastfeeding are most likely to choose not to breastfeed.
In studies where women were selected as the result of choosing not to breastfeed, researchers
found heightened levels of expressed personal reasons that reflected negative associations with
breastfeeding, including a lack of consistent education by hospital staff (Ogbuanu et al., 2009;
Shaker et al., 2004; Wirihana Barnard, 2011). Education in mixed method feedings was lacking at
all levels of intention to breastfeed, Geraghty et al. (2013) noted, even in a population study that
was based on respondents who wanted to breastfeed, and sought professional help for problems
while breastfeeding.
Intention is also linked to the expected success of breastfeeding, as indicated by Attanasio et al.

Essay on The Harlem Renaissance and Langston Hughes
Langston Hughes was one of the most important writers and thinkers of the
Harlem Renaissance in the 1920s, which was the first major movement of African
American life and culture. Hughes was influenced by living in New York City s Harlem, where his
literary works helped shape American literature and politics. Hughes strong sense of racial pride
helped him promote equality, celebrate African
American culture, and condemn racism through his poetry, novels, plays, essays, and children s
books (America s Library). Hughes is referred to as a literary phenomenon. He was one of the first

One of his teachers introduced him to Carl Sandburg and Walt Whitman s poetry, who stood out as
Hughes primary influences. Hughes graduated from high school in 1920 and spent the following
year in Mexico with his father. Around this time, Hughes s poem
The Negro Speaks of Rivers was published in The Crisis magazine and was highly praised (The
Biography Channel). In 1921, Hughes enrolled at Columbia University where he studied briefly,
and during this time he quickly became a part of the Harlem Renaissance. Four years later, he was
working as a busboy in a Washington, D.C. hotel restaurant when he met an
American poet Vachel Lindsay. Hughes showed some of his poems to Lindsay, who used his
connections to promote Hughes s poetry and bring it towards a wider audience.
Hughes s poem, The Weary Blues won first prize in the Opportunity magazine literary competition.
While studying at Lincoln, Hughes poetry came to the attention of novelist and critic Carl Van

Byzantium Poem Analysis
Meaning: An old man, is fleeing from his country sating that is no country for old men . The
country that he was in before was filled with youth, thus he must seek Byzantium which is the
country of the old. Byzantium is reached by sailing the seas. In Byzantium, the poet asks the
sages in the city s gold mosaics to be the singing masters of his soul. Then he wishes for the sages
to consume his heart, which is sick with desire and fastened to a dying animal which he is
referecing to his body. When he is out of his body, he will never appear in a bodily form, but
instead he will be a golden bird, sitting on a golden branch singing of the past , the present which
is the passing and the future which is to come. Identification of context The poem can be
directed to older people as it is a man who cannot stay in that country as it is a country for young.
The poet uses Byzantium to represent the land of old purely because of how it is an old and
ancient city that is still standing today. This poem brings the young and the old together as it is
a poem about spiritual knowledge. The poem balances out the physical and metaphorical world
by having an object that connects the two. Theme: The themes in the poem are all fused
together as they all have one key idea, of the poet not wanting to die but instead be an object of
art that does not age. He does not feel welcome in the land where they neglect old people. He
tries to initiate a change by leaving his homeland in search for spiritual rebirth. The line between
spiritual and physical rebirth becomes fuzzy as the poet imagines of placing his soul into an art
object which would not age. Explain the structure and the impact it has The structure of the
poem is the poem consist of four stanzas having eight lines each. This poem uses iambic
pentameter, which is one syllable is unstressed and is followed by a stressed syllable. The poem
has five stressed and five unstressed syllables, which gives a total of 10 syllables, an example is
the second stanza s first line which starts with an unstressed syllable then followed by a stressed
syllable. The impact this has on the audience is that it establishes an elevated tone for the poem
since the poem is dealing with a

How Selection On Behavior Shapes Brain Investment
Understanding how selection on behavior shapes brain investment is a major question in the
analysis of the evolution of animal sociality [Szathmary and Maynard Smith, 1995; Edelman and
Changeux, 2001; Ricklefs, 2004; Gronenberg and Riveros, 2009]. Neural tissue is energetically
expensive and therefore brainregions should only enlarge when needed to meet functional demands
[Niven and Laughlin, 2008]. The social brain hypothesis posits that social interactions are so
cognitively demanding that social environment selects for enhanced neural development
[Humphrey, 1976; Dunbar and Shultz, 2007]. Studies supporting the social brain hypothesis
usually rely on comparative analyses across taxa with varying levels of social complexity and use...

To date only two brain investment studies on solitary and facultatively social bees are reported. A
study on solitary bees, Osmia lignaria found that adults emerge with neuronal development typical
of experienced workers in advanced eusocial insect species, but also found that mushroom body
neuropil volume further increased with foraging experience [Withers et al., 2007]. These results
confirm that mushroom bodies are important for cognitive processes in solitary antecedents, but
cannot inform us on the role of social experience on neuropil investment. Smith et al. [2010]
examined brain size and development using the facultatively social bee Megalopta genalis, a
species with both solitary and primitively social colonies in the same populations. Mushroom
body size increased with foraging behavior in solitary individuals and workers compared to newly
emerged M. genalis females, but even greater mushroom body development was found in queens.
Smith et al. [2010] attributed enhanced growth of the mushroom body cortex to maintaining
behavioral dominance. Much like obligately eusocial bees, however, Megalopta are bees with
distinct reproductive (queens) and foraging (workers) roles and therefore the relative roles of
foraging and social experience are not

Saudi Arabia Is A Monarchy Built On The Foundation Of Islam
Saudi Arabia is located in the region of the Middle East and North Africa with a population of

over climate change and the proposal to limit our carbon omissions by 15 percent in the next five

centered on the export of fossil fuels. Fossil fuels are known to be the major drives of climate
change, thus causing a problematic deliberation for our government. Our country has an arid

Each province includes its own council that is responsible for advising the governor as well as
dealing with the development aspect of the province. As Saudi Arabia is an Islamic State, our
judicial system is based on Islamic Law, with our King being the highest court of appeal (Sims,

Although we believe limiting carbon omissions by 15 percent in the next five years will reduce
our oil exports and contribute to a catastrophic decline for our economy, we are willing to
consider should there be a national enforcement mechanism. We are willing to pursue international
initiatives to contest the issues of climate change, although we are one of the largest oil
producing countries. In order to comply, we demand reimbursement in case of a future offset in
losses in oil revenue. We as a country understand the effects of global warming and the fact that
our future is deteriorated because of it. However, many of our people do not recognize climate
change as an immense issue that needs to be addressed. Many often believe that our climate in
Saudi Arabia is tremendously hot already; there is no point in limiting our carbon omissions, as the
chance of lost revenue is present. Additionally, with a growing economy, we will not have the

The Air Quality Of China Urban Cities
What Do Motor Vehicles Do to the Air Quality in China Urban Cities?
China is developing at an unprecedented fast pace in recent years, it is now the second largest
economy in the worldwide with at least 7 percent annual growth in gross domestic product (GDP)
(See Appendix A). Unfortunately, this rapid economic growth comes with a price, excessive use
of fossil fuel leads to a very serious environmental issues to people s habitats, and the air they
breathe every day.
The environmental pollution, especially air pollution has always been a concern in China, a
documentary Under the Dome produced in February 28, 2015 by former China Central Television
well known journalist, Chai Jing. The release of this film brings environmental issues in China to a
new height. This film deeply investigated the air pollution in different cities in China, combined
footages of her interview with authorities who worked in the government, environment specialities
and business owners, as well as some shocking data in terms of the air quality in China. All the
information in the film indicated one brutal truth that China is losing its war dealing with air
pollution (See Appendix B).
According to Reuters, 90 percent of cities in China fail to meet air standard in 2014 (Stanway, Feb
1, 2015). Among the top ten worst air quality cities, seven out of ten cities are located in the heavy
industrial province of Hebei in China, which surrounds Beijing. The data of ambient air quality

Beowulf and Death Row Records
We often think of the Old English time as an era filled with mighty pagan warriors gathered in a
dark wooden room, drinking ale to celebrate their victory in a brutish bloody battle. Or maybe we
picture brawny Vikings with dirty faces wearing animal skins while sailing in large wooden ships.
You may even imagine the crude but lovable Hagar the Horrible from the popular comic strip.
Regardless to which of these views you take, we always think of the Old English as a time far in
the past. Even though we may not notice, the strong brutal men of this past era infiltrate our
everyday lives.
These barbaric warriors are found in our society as street gangs. Although they have different

In Beowulf s time, most warriors were quite violent. They often engaged inbattles with enemies
until death, or with opponents until the end of the match. The paganwarriors are remembered as
brutal, killing those necessary to protect their village or stealanother s. They were also known to
use violence to obtain riches or ships from otherwarriors. Similar to pirates, they used brute force
to take what they wanted. Street gangsalso use such violence. Whether it be to protect their
property or members, or to stealfrom others, gangsters use various weapons to obtain what they
want. Just as paganwarriors fought battles with rival villages, street gangs also engage in battles
with rivalgangs or sometimes with police. Gang violence can vary from street fights to drive
byshootings, often involving innocent victims. This horrible violence is evident in themedia. It
varies from gansta rap such as 2Pac or Dr. Dre, to movies such as New JackCity or Juice, and can
even be seen in such TV shows as New York Undercover and NYPD Blue . A less obvious
example of gangs is in the new version of Romeo andJuliet. In this rendition of the old

THE FORENSIC EVIDENCE CONCERNING AIR INDIAFLIGHT 182
Background
The in flight disintegration of the Kanishka, most of the aircraft came to rest on the ocean floor
almost 7,000 feet below the surface. During the accident investigation that followed, the
submerged wreckage was surveyed, photographed, videotaped and pieces were recovered off the
ocean floor. Floating wreckage was also recovered and examined. Each piece was given a unique
number called target . Target means that specific parts of planes were to be destroyed. When the

important targets from the aft fuselage of the aircraft. Under the supervision of the RCMP, these
simulated targets were assembled with the actual recovered wreckage in a partial reconstruction of
the Kanishka at a warehouse in the Lower Mainland as an aid to understanding the technical expert
evidence regarding the destruction of the aircraft. Experts presented portions of their evidence at
this warehouse during the trial and referred extensively to the reconstruction in demonstrating their
respective theories. The significance of this expert evidence lies primarily in their differing
opinions regarding the location of the bomb that precipitated the destruction of the Kanishka. The
Crown theory, supported by the opinion evidence of Professor Christopher Peel, is that it was
located in Baggage Area 52, which contained the M. Singh bag. The defence theory, supported by
the opinion evidence of Dr. Edward Trimble and Mr. Frank Taylor, is that it was located some five
feet forward of that location in Baggage Area 51, containing luggage checked in at Toronto. A

Howard Zinn s Historian As Citizen
To Howard Zinn, history is no more than a looking glass for historians to see what needs to change
in the modern world. Zinn explains how historians should see the past and the future in his 1966
essay Historian as Citizen . He begins by stating that historians cling too tightly to the patterns of
the pastand are wrong in using them as a guide to the future. He says, This necessariness of the past
tends to infect our thinking about the future, weighing down our disposition to act (Zinn 44).
Already, Zinn makes a broad statement that counters the aged ways of historians everywhere. He is
asking them to let go of history. This is offputting to some but it is his strong voice that makes his
philosophy so grand.
Now that he has captivated his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Zinn writes, Both history and art should instruct us. The crucial thing is to reveal the
relationship between evil and ourselves. This makes it enormously useful to show how Hitler
could emerge out of a boy playing in a field (Zinn 49). Zinn is not saying that history is not
important. He is saying that it should not be seen as irrevocable facts and instead viewed as art.
We view art as up for interpretation, insightful, and inspiring. Zinn is simply offering that we do
the same with history. As previously stated, the past gives us understanding of the roots of evil.
Using our history in this way is a tremendous tool, as Zinn demonstrates with the innocent boy to
Hitler example. A problem with this argument is that humans are not easily willing to admit to
their mistakes. When the United States defines to Soviet sphere as totalitarian and the West as
free, it becomes difficult for Americans to see totalitarian elements in our society, and liberal
elements in Soviet society (Zinn 49). Nations, especially the United States, get so wrapped up in
patriotism that they refuse to see the flaws in their systems and the perks of others. So, even if
Zinn s thesis of self criticism was more popular, it is unrealistic that anyone would actually accept

The Ideal Of The Soul In The Phaedo By Plato
Plato has interest many readers with the work of a philosopher by the name of Socrates.
Because of Plato, Socrates lived on generations after his time. A topic of Socrates that I plan to
discuss is the ideal of an immortal soul . Although there are various works and dialogues about
this topic it is found to be best explained in The Phaedo. I plan to unwrap Platos ideal of the soul
and the kinds of reality associated with it. It is fair to say that the mind may wonder when one
dies, but what exactly happens to the beloved soul; the giver of life often thought of as the very
essence of life, does it live on beyond the body, or does it die with it? Does are body control the
soul, or does the soul control the body?
In Plato s The Phaedo, Plato ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Socrates establishes that are souls had a previous existence. Before they took the shape of
human, they were independent of our bodies and had intelligence. I agree with this argument of
Socrates because the reason that we might posse this certain knowledge about the world is
because we have seen or experienced it prior. That the soul has the same substances or qualities
that are found in the world of forms has a prior conception of these things before entering the
materials of the world. For example such as seeing a rose, if one recognized the rose as beautiful
it is because one soul had had a previous experience of its beauty as it existed in its ideal form.
Thus upon seeing this rose, one has recollect this notion of

WORLDCOM SCANDAL INVESTIGATION RESULTS
Evidence shows that the accounting fraud was discovered as early as June 2001, when several
former employees gave statements alleging instances of hiding bad debt, understating costs, and
backdating contracts. However, WorldCom s board of directors did not investigate these claims.
Although employees and investors look for individual culpability, WorldCom s organizational
structure, group processes, and culture contributed to the fraud and length of time over which it
occurred. The SEC s investigation into the accounting fraud at WorldCom turned up several key
players. The following is a list of high ranking WorldCom executives and other employees who

former CFO of WorlCom. Indicted on charges of securities fraud, conspiracy, and false statements

Review Of The Fall Of Constantinople Essay
Jeffery Jacob World History [Teacher name here] December 21st, 2016 The Fall of Constantinople
Byzantium was one of the many Greek city states that stratled along the coasts of the Aegean Sea.
As an abundant source of Grains, fish, and trade, she played a pivotal role as a landing for Darius
colossal army against the Greeks; a battleground between Athens and Sparta during the
Pelloponessian war; and a prized tributary under Roman supervision. The Roman Emperor,
Constantine I, renamed the city after himself and the newly christened Constantinoplegrew to
eclipse Rome as the greatest Capital of Europe. Even after the continent was plunged into the so
called Dark Ages ; protected by the indominable Theodosian Wall, The Queen of Cities , as the
Greek speaking Byzantines called her, retained her position as the most prestine City of the early
Middle Ages. And became the seat of power for the great Basilieis, Greek plural for Emperors, and
the venerated Patriarchs of the Eastern Orthodox Church. Yet the middle ages made life more
turbulant for the aged Byzantine Empireas it lost vast swathes of land to the surging Muslim
Caliphate; struggled with internal corruption throughout its lifetime; clung desperately to its
commercial power in the face of competition from merchant republics such as Genoa and Venice;
and embroiled itself into several centuries of conflicts with the Turks over control of Anatolia,
modern day Turkey. However, its Religious influence grew

Is College Worth Essay
Rahaf Haddad
College
College started to be the direction many students take after high school. During junior year, all the
teachers start telling their student to consider college and the major that they want to pursue.
Correspondingly, the students start to take the SAT and ACT tests. In junior year many students
start to think if they are ready for college. Also, they start thinking about the major they want to
enroll in if they decide to apply for college. More questions come in mind such as, would college
be suitable for everyone? And is college worth the money the students would have to spend on
tuition every semester until they graduate? From Leonhardt perspective, college is worth even
with the debt it comes with. According to Matthews s argument, college degree is needed because
it is becoming more valuable with time. The arguments that both of Leonhardt and Matthews give
prove that college is worth it and it is a good financial decision for most of the students. Leonhardt
believes that college is beneficial and especially financially. The debt that college students go
through becomes negative $500,000. After students finish college and start working they pay their
debt easily. Leonhardt mentioned Americans with four years college degrees made 98 percent
more an hour on average in 2013 than people without a degree. This statistic shows that when
students start working they can pay their debt in a wisely time depending on their major.

Further, Kern s innovations in music also consisted of experimenting with different types of songs
and new instrument usage. As early as 1913 he suggested to his orchestrator, Frank Saddler (or
acquiesced in Saddler s suggestion), that saxophones be used in the pit band for Oh, I Say!
Although recent musical research has identified these instruments as the smaller European variety
rather than the standard American jazzinstrument, this use of the saxophone was new (Bordman).
He also experimented with many of his songs that deviated from the traditional style of musical

Kern s music along with various collaborators lyrics set the mold for the cohesive story in musical
theatre, which included, not only lyrics that advanced the plot and related to the scene at hand, but
musical interludes by Kern that often repeated in a new song in the musical to connect the story.
These productions, Nobody Home, Very Good Eddie, Oh Boy!, and Oh Lady! Lady!!, were
distinguished by a new approach to musical theater, developed by Kern in collaboration with
librettist Guy Bolton, and, beginning in 1917, the talents of lyricist P.G. Wodehouse (Gale

part to Kern, it was the idea of characterization in song that really brought the modern musicals we
see today to life. Kern s exquisitely flowing melodies were employed to further the action or
develop characterization. The integration of song and story is periodically announced as a

The Fifa World Cup Event
The FIFA World Cup, as one of the most prestigious sporting events in the world that comes around
every four years, is often assumed by potential host countries as highly profitable. Current research,
however, suggests that the economic growth experienced by these host nations due to the World
Cup event is lower than the expectations they had. Specifically, a number of economists assert that
no observable short termeconomic growth exists within the tourism, retailing, accommodation, and
employment sectors of each one of the host countries (Allmers Maennig, 2009). As for the long
term impacts, some scholars insist that the World Cup cannot boost the four sectors listed above
(Baumann, Robert, Bryan Engelhardt, and Victor A. Matheson 2012), while others argue that other
beneficial factors, that do not affect the host countries in the short term, generate economic profits
for host countries in the long term (Maennig, 2009). Some scholars even critique this claim,
however, arguing that the new factors won t bring profits to host countries.
In my opinion, the World Cup seems to give the allusion that it will benefit the economy right away
in the short run, but this not necessarily true. On the other hand it is beneficial to the host countries
and the international economy in the long run, assuming that different factors are considered in the
long term analysis. These factors include the novelty effect of new stadiums, the feel good effect

Compare And Contrast Freud Vs Hobsbawm
Philosophers Sigmund Freud and Eric Hobsbawm present two explanations of the origins of
civilization in their books Civilization and its Discontent and Nations and Nationalism since 1780,
respectively. In doing so, each philosopher establish a distinct, and somewhat similar, definition of
civilization. According to Freud, civilizationdescribes the whole sum of the achievements and the
regulations which distinguish our lives from those of our animal ancestors. (Freud, 63) There are
distinct features of a civilization, such as beauty, the encouragement of man s higher mental

Hobsbawm emphasizes that proto nationalism was the mobilizing (of) certain variants of feelings
of collective belonging which already existed and which could operate, as it were, potentially on
the macro political scale which could fit in with modern states and nations. (Hobsbawm, 52) The
consciousness, therefore, of belonging to a nation requires the citizens of a country (to become) a
sort of community, though an imagined one, and its members therefore found themselves seeking
for and consequently finding, things in common, places, practices, personages, memories, signs
and symbols. (Hobsbawm, 90) This foundational development is essentially one of patriotism, in
which the individual evokes a feeling of loyalty and pride in their nation through symbols,
language and ethnicity. While these feelings of pro nationalism may occur, if an individual is, for
instance, to have thoughts of desire to burn the national flag or act in an anti nationalist way, then
they will have feelings of guilt. Freud explains that the origins of the sense of guilt (are): one
arising from fear of an authority, and the other, later on, arising from fear of the super ego. (Freud,
119) The state, therefore, is the super ego that oppresses the Id of the individual who has these

Exclusionary Rule Essay
The genesis of the Exclusionary Rule can be traced in early 1900s. It was established to ensure
that law enforcement officers followed the law in collecting incriminating evidence. The
Exclusionary Rule was designed by the Supreme Court making it a court made rule. The rule is not
like other normal rules that are created by statutes passed by the legislative bodies. The essay will
outline how the Exclusionary Rulewas developed highlighting the various cases that proved pivotal
in its implementation. The essay will also outline the various limitations to the rule as well as the
general applicability of the rule in today s courts (Calabresi, 2003).
Before the development of the Exclusionary Rule, courts relied on every evidence presented by the
state in criminal cases. Admissibility of the evidence was dependent on its relevance irrespective of
the manner in which the evidence was collected. In 1914, the Supreme Court demanded that law
enforcement agencies must conform to the Fourth Amendment. In Weeks v. United Statesthe
Supreme Court ruled that evidence presented by the state was inadmissible. The basis of their
decision was based on the fact that evidence collected from Weeks was secured through a
warrantless search. The ruling discrediting the evidence meant that the defendant was freed and ...

being researched and taught in colleges and universities, ethics problems persist and the public

Throughout many years since World War 2, agriculture production was more efficient, and

DOST PTRI turned difficult to remove stains from these husks into a textile dye called coconut
pink. They found out that young coconut husk extract imparts red to maroon color on silk, piГ±a
seda and piГ±a while it produces an old rose color on cotton. They also established colorfastness,
laundering and light ratings of the dyed materials and found these to be satisfactory for all these
types. Coconut husks potential to impart red color comes as a necessary indulgence for textile
manufacturers who use in great quantities the non colorfast red dye from sibukao (Caesalpinnia
sappan). The textile institute s research study revealed that young coconut husks sourced from
different locations produce varying shades of red. This required thus hue and color tint matching
capabilities and adjustments in the dyeing parameters. In addition, DOST PTRI found that
coconuts from high elevations yield almost no color compared with coconuts from coastals and
low lying areas. This new use for young coconut husks holds promise for additional income for
farmers. Likewise, the new technique s requirement for compulsory chopping of husks before
extraction facilitates rapid decomposition. This reduces the risk of clogging of waterways and
drainage systems along coconut processing

The 1968 Tet Offensive In The Vietnam War
The 1968 Tet Offensive was a series of battles which took place during the Vietnam War where the
North Vietnamese Army (NVA) and the National Liberation Front (NLF) attacked the Army of the
Republic of Vietnam (ARVN) and U.S. Forces in South Vietnam. This major offensive by the
Democratic Republic of Vietnam (DRV) forces which were initiated on January 30th of 1968 in
coordination with Tet, the Vietnamese New Year. The offensive is historically labeled as a military
defeat for the DRV forces while ultimately being a strategic victory through it s ability to turn major
American public opinion against support of the war effort in Vietnam. Johnson s decision to halt
escalation after the Tet Offensivemarked a crucial turning point in American participation in the
Vietnam War. (History.com Staff 2009)

much of the American public saw it [the Tet Offensive] as stark evidence that the war could not be
won at a reasonable cost. (Lawrence 2008) The NLF had laid siege to the U.S. Embassy in Saigon,
a major center of U.S. power, and attacked hundreds of cities and villages. It was reasonably
assumed by the American public that an enemy in retreat could not launch such a large offensive,
and inherently this caused great concern over the situation in Vietnam. The images of the American
embassy under siege and the stark contrast between the fierce fighting during Tet and the optimistic
estimates and reports emanating from Washington in the period just prior to the attacks contributed
to the interpretation of the Tet Offensive as a political and moral defeat for the U.S. (Walton, J.

Cuba s Relations with Latin America Essay
Cuba s Relations with Latin America
Introduction
The Cuban Revolution of 1959 not only affected Cuba itself, it also had a strong impact on the
island s international relations. This was particularly the case with its relationships with Latin
America. In the forty years since the revolution, the response to Cuba from Latin American nations
has ranged from the severing of diplomatic ties with the island, to the reestablishment of relations
at a later period. Fear of the spreading of similar insurrections, as well as feelings of Latin
American solidarity, are examples of factors that have contributed to these shifts.
Revolutionary Leaders Define Cuba s Place in the Americas
Even before the success of the revolution, Castro and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cuban revolutionary leaders also considered relations between the island and its neighbors, because
of their close proximity and shared cultural and historical connections, to be of primary importance
in Cuba s international affairs. In its relations with the other American republics, Cuba s attitude is
not one of separation but rather friendship. This attitude will have priority over the rest of our
international relations (26th of July Movement 138 139).
Cuba and Latin America in the 1960 s
The decade following the revolution saw the deterioration of diplomatic ties between Cuba and
many Latin American counties. One of the main reasons for this was because after the success of
the revolution in Cuba, Castro and his supporters began calling for revolt throughout Latin America.
In various regions in the area, Castro mounted invasions, trained guerrillas, sent propaganda and
money to fidelista groups, and occasionally dispatched arms and even personnel to support
guerrilla activities (Wright 41). This caused many Latin American leaders to suspend their relations
with Cuba for fear that the spread of rebellion would lead to their deposition. According to Wright,
Latin America was especially vulnerable to upset by the impact of the Cuban Revolution since
many of its countries political institutions had shallow roots (42).
The instability that characterized much of Latin American politics in the 1960 s led to a number of
uprisings in various

Difference Between Supernatural And Supernatural
In today s production of films, ghosts and paranormal beings are a popular topic. However, even
with today s modern science, there is no legitimate proof of ghosts or spirits. When unexplainable
things happen when no one else is around, the idea of a paranormal being might seem rational.
Despite the speculation of the phenomenon, what exactly is paranormal activity and how do
residual areas become haunted by these spirits? The terms supernatural and paranormal are often
confused. Supernatural is relating more to faith or something we cannot completely comprehend or
prove with our sciences. Where as paranormal is something that cannot be explained with current
knowledge and technology, but most likely has a scientific reason for why it s happening. (Kelly)
The difference between both supernatural and paranormal has to do with being able to explain and
understand the paranormal with whatever available science. Religion might often be pushed into
the category for supernatural, as with the science available, we cannot fully explain ideologies of
religion. With the paranormal, mediocre equipment is used to supposedly make contact with the
supernatural. It s believed that the supernatural will eventually be able to be explained with
advanced science. There have been many reports of residual areas all around Kansas that have been
determined as either haunted or rich with paranormal activity. A famous example is the Topeka
State Hospital, which was an asylum that was in

The Epidemic Of Child Obesity
Over the past decade there has been an epidemic on the rise. This epidemic is child obesity. We
spend millions of dollars each year trying to help or prevent the onset of obesity. Some of the
reasons are due to our youth consuming more processed foods and not being physically active.
However, we as a society cannot just blame the laziness and not eating the correct types of foods
as the cause for obesity. This problem is more complex than people think and we can fix it, but
we do need government cooperation. There are many causes of obesity some of which are
poverty, food insecurity, parenting, and physical activity. The United States has the highest
amount of people below the poverty line in its history. Since these people make below $20,000
dollars a year, their only way of feeding themselves is buying the cheapest food. The cheapest food
in a food market is almost always processed food. These types of foods do not have the best
nutrient content. Eating these types of foods more frequently can increase a person s risk of
becoming obese. One of the many reasons people consume processed foods is because they are
very cheap The relative price of fresh fruits and vegetables it s gone up by 40% since 1980 when
the obesity epidemic first began. In contrast, the relative price of processed foods has gone down
by about 40% (A Place at the Table). Since processed foods are cheap, people under the poverty
line will mostly buy these types of foods. Sometimes people under the

How The Government Can Protect Water From Pollution
How the Government Can Protect Water From Pollution
For at least two millenniums, the water quality has been getting worse and reached such a high
level of pollution that the use of water for different purposes is very limited and water can be
harmful to humans. Water is the source of life of all organisms and the foundation of human
civilization. However, no matter how painful it is to talk about, people are extremely wasteful
with water resources of the Earth and pollute it. Every year, up to 400 billion cubic meters of
wastewater is discharged into rivers, seas and lakes of the world. As a result, that 5500 billion
cubic meters of water on the planet is now in a contaminated condition. This figure is more than
14% of the total water resources of the world. ( Pakzadeh, 2015) Water pollution is one of the
biggest problem of humanity. People pollute the water and thus reduce the clean water sources
causing health problems for people, destroying natural beauty and ultimately bringing down the
economic system to make life more pathetic. The solution to the water pollution problem in the
world is especially in the development of a legislative base, which would allow the government to
protect the environment from the harmful anthropogenic effects, as well as finding ways to
implement these laws in practice
At present, pollution of water resources has become an invisible enemy of human health. The
studies of the World Health Organization shows that 80% of all diseases in the

Main Outline And Argument
Summarization of Main Outline/Argument:
Ellen G White is very clear on her view regarding divorce. She s radically against divorce.
However there is some case when the innocent party can ask for divorce or decide to stay with the
guilty person. I found several arguments regarding divorce on her writing.
вћўMarriage is the contract of life; therefore, spouse has no right to ask for divorce.
вћўWe must view divorce according to God s law.
вћўAdultery is the only ground for divorce.
вћўThe innocent party can decide to stay or marry someone else.
вћўDivorce brings suffering between husband and wife.
вћўIn case of abuse, you can separate with the person but not legally divorce.
вћўThe wife has no right to divorce her unbeliever husband.
вћўScripture don t give enough room for divorce.
Research Conclusion:
My research question was: When it s appropriate for a spouse to ask for divorce? This question
comes in my mind because when I was a Pastor in the Southern Conference in Haiti there is one
of my colleagues get divorce with his wife without the ground of adultery. The wife is the one
who ask for divorce because she said she didn t see herself as a pastor s wife and want to live her
life without any restriction. The executive committee knew about this issue and they decided to
layoff the Pastor, even he has nothing to do regarding this divorce. Since that day, I was curious to
learn about Divorce in Ellen G, White writings. In my research, I found out that Ellen G white is
against the

Through the Dukes speech, it is obviously that he is a very prideful person and cares a lot for his wealth. Due to his wealth and status, he has become arrogant and demanding. When he desires are not fulfilled he will go to the extreme and kill someone. Robert Browninguses literary devices such as symbolism and allusion to reflect the themes of wealth and pride. • 6. Landfills In Jeremy Irons The world may appear to be perfect from space, but, according to Jeremy Irons, the view is far different on the surface. In Saida, Lebanon alone, what was once treasure on beaches has turned to into trash. Since 1975, 8 tons of waste has been dumped on its beaches, creating a 20 meter high trash mountain that spills methane into the city and the sea. However, this is not a problem that is just present in certain places. The world throws away 200 billion plastic bottles, 58 billion throwaway cups, and billions of plastic bags in a single year. It is clear that trash is a major problem for the entire world, and Irons focuses on the problems it causes and the many ways that its problems are being taken care of during his Trashed documentary. Multiple cities face issues surround the use of landfills around the planet. Yorkshire, England faces one of the biggest problems with trash in Europe with the expansion of its landfill setting out to become one of the tallest in the world. Beijing, China is almost out of space for trash even with the presence of over 400 landfills, and 14 dumps in the state of New York have reached full capacity. Paul Connett, a professor of Chemistry, says that the problem lies in the fact that the world keeps putting things into the ground that will not break down. Instead of trash becoming a part of the earth, we are left with cases like that in Gloucestershire, England, where 15,000 people live near a landfill that allowed to dump 1,500 tons of ... • 7. A Report on Medical History, Law, Prostitution, and Public... Medical History Law, Prostitution and Public Health John Scott, in his paper, Prostitution and public health in New South Wales accurately describes the way that prostitutes are seen in this particular region and in the rest of the world. Prostitutes working in public spaces have been presented as sexual agents willfully engaged in criminal conduct and the spread of contagion (2003). This is clearly a more or less universal opinion of prostitutes and prostitution. However, as Scott points out, in New South Wales, They [prostitutes] have been made subject to strategic interventions that have attempted to normalize prostitution and render the prostitute a hygienic subject (2003). While no such attempts have been overtly made in a widespread manner throughout the United States, similar efforts have been made elsewhere in order to protect the healthof general public and promote the overall good. Those who wish to consume the services of prostitution will ultimately continue to do so, regardless of whether or not it is legal or illegal. At the very least steps should be taken to make the act of indulging in such things a more sanitary act, comparable to clean needle exchange programs for intravenous drug users. The breadth of interventions justified by the interests of public healthdemonstrates that the relationship between public health and prostitution is far deeper than the use of population statistics and outbreak investigations to curb the spread of disease ... This article made several valid points, including that guys will try and out perform each other where sports are concerned and that the space shuttle is the ultimate guy toy. My question is why do only guys play with all the neat toys? Part of the answer to this question might be that men are encouraged to play with hi tech toys while girls are given a Barbi doll or a toy oven. For men in 1997 the figure is 74.2. With the increase of women entering the work force it would be more logical to focus on toys that might encourage the child to develop an interest that could turn into a career. I absolutely shudder every time I see this game advertised on T.V. The games that are aimed at the boys are football, hockey, or Star Wars games. As boys grow into men and girls grow into women the computer gaming industry begins to focus more on the male population. It is challenging to try and find a game that is not directed at men. Breastfeeding Intention, Motivation And Initiation Essay Breastfeeding Intention, Motivation and Initiation The small amount of breastfeeding intention research that exists focuses heavily on populations considered at risk, referring to those in economically disadvantaged areas or lower wage earners with lower educational backgrounds, often with lower maternal age and worse outcomes in the birth process (Cabieses et al., 2014; Declercq et al., 2014; Holbrook et al., 2013; Li et al., 2005: McInnes et al., 2001; Shaker et al., 2004). These studies show that women s attitudes regarding breastfeeding create strong motivators for the intent to breastfeed. Those with positive associations with breastfeeding are most likely to want to breastfeed and those with negative associations with breastfeeding are most likely to choose not to breastfeed. In studies where women were selected as the result of choosing not to breastfeed, researchers found heightened levels of expressed personal reasons that reflected negative associations with breastfeeding, including a lack of consistent education by hospital staff (Ogbuanu et al., 2009; Shaker et al., 2004; Wirihana Barnard, 2011). Education in mixed method feedings was lacking at all levels of intention to breastfeed, Geraghty et al. • 15. Byzantium Poem Analysis Meaning: An old man, is fleeing from his country sating that is no country for old men . The country that he was in before was filled with youth, thus he must seek Byzantium which is the country of the old. Byzantium is reached by sailing the seas. In Byzantium, the poet asks the sages in the city s gold mosaics to be the singing masters of his soul. Then he wishes for the sages to consume his heart, which is sick with desire and fastened to a dying animal which he is referecing to his body. When he is out of his body, he will never appear in a bodily form, but instead he will be a golden bird, sitting on a golden branch singing of the past , the present which is the passing and the future which is to come. Identification of context The poem can be directed to older people as it is a man who cannot stay in that country as it is a country for young. The poet uses Byzantium to represent the land of old purely because of how it is an old and ancient city that is still standing today. This poem brings the young and the old together as it is a poem about spiritual knowledge. The poem balances out the physical and metaphorical world by having an object that connects the two. Theme: The themes in the poem are all fused together as they all have one key idea, of the poet not wanting to die but instead be an object of art that does not age. He does not feel welcome in the land where they neglect old people. He tries to initiate a change by leaving his homeland in search for spiritual rebirth. The line between spiritual and physical rebirth becomes fuzzy as the poet imagines of placing his soul into an art object which would not age. Explain the structure and the impact it has The structure of the poem is the poem consist of four stanzas having eight lines each. The poem has five stressed and five unstressed syllables, which gives a total of 10 syllables, an example is the second stanza s first line which starts with an unstressed syllable then followed by a stressed syllable. How Selection On Behavior Shapes Brain Investment Understanding how selection on behavior shapes brain investment is a major question in the analysis of the evolution of animal sociality [Szathmary and Maynard Smith, 1995; Edelman and Changeux, 2001; Ricklefs, 2004; Gronenberg and Riveros, 2009]. Neural tissue is energetically expensive and therefore brainregions should only enlarge when needed to meet functional demands [Niven and Laughlin, 2008]. The social brain hypothesis posits that social interactions are so cognitively demanding that social environment selects for enhanced neural development [Humphrey, 1976; Dunbar and Shultz, 2007]. A study on solitary bees, Osmia lignaria found that adults emerge with neuronal development typical of experienced workers in advanced eusocial insect species, but also found that mushroom body neuropil volume further increased with foraging experience [Withers et al., 2007]. These results confirm that mushroom bodies are important for cognitive processes in solitary antecedents, but cannot inform us on the role of social experience on neuropil investment. Smith et al. [2010] examined brain size and development using the facultatively social bee Megalopta genalis, a species with both solitary and primitively social colonies in the same populations. Mushroom body size increased with foraging behavior in solitary individuals and workers compared to newly emerged M. genalis females, but even greater mushroom body development was found in queens. Smith et al. [2010] attributed enhanced growth of the mushroom body cortex to maintaining behavioral dominance. When the United States defines to Soviet sphere as totalitarian and the West as free, it becomes difficult for Americans to see totalitarian elements in our society, and liberal elements in Soviet society (Zinn 49). Nations, especially the United States, get so wrapped up in patriotism that they refuse to see the flaws in their systems and the perks of others. Because of Plato, Socrates lived on generations after his time. A topic of Socrates that I plan to discuss is the ideal of an immortal soul . Although there are various works and dialogues about this topic it is found to be best explained in The Phaedo. I plan to unwrap Platos ideal of the soul and the kinds of reality associated with it. It is fair to say that the mind may wonder when one dies, but what exactly happens to the beloved soul; the giver of life often thought of as the very essence of life, does it live on beyond the body, or does it die with it? That the soul has the same substances or qualities that are found in the world of forms has a prior conception of these things before entering the materials of the world. During junior year, all the teachers start telling their student to consider college and the major that they want to pursue. Correspondingly, the students start to take the SAT and ACT tests. In junior year many students start to think if they are ready for college. Also, they start thinking about the major they want to enroll in if they decide to apply for college. More questions come in mind such as, would college be suitable for everyone? And is college worth the money the students would have to spend on tuition every semester until they graduate? From Leonhardt perspective, college is worth even with the debt it comes with. According to Matthews s argument, college degree is needed because it is becoming more valuable with time. The arguments that both of Leonhardt and Matthews give prove that college is worth it and it is a good financial decision for most of the students. Leonhardt believes that college is beneficial and especially financially. The debt that college students go through becomes negative $500,000. After students finish college and start working they pay their debt easily. Leonhardt mentioned Americans with four years college degrees made 98 percent more an hour on average in 2013 than people without a degree. Specifically, a number of economists assert that no observable short termeconomic growth exists within the tourism, retailing, accommodation, and employment sectors of each one of the host countries (Allmers Maennig, 2009). As for the long term impacts, some scholars insist that the World Cup cannot boost the four sectors listed above (Baumann, Robert, Bryan Engelhardt, and Victor A. (Lawrence 2008) The NLF had laid siege to the U.S. Embassy in Saigon, a major center of U.S. power, and attacked hundreds of cities and villages. It was reasonably assumed by the American public that an enemy in retreat could not launch such a large offensive, and inherently this caused great concern over the situation in Vietnam. The images of the American embassy under siege and the stark contrast between the fierce fighting during Tet and the optimistic estimates and reports emanating from Washington in the period just prior to the attacks contributed to the interpretation of the Tet Offensive as a political and moral defeat for the U.S. (Walton, J. ... • 43. Cuba s Relations with Latin America Essay Cuba s Relations with Latin America Introduction The Cuban Revolution of 1959 not only affected Cuba itself, it also had a strong impact on the island s international relations. This was particularly the case with its relationships with Latin America. In the forty years since the revolution, the response to Cuba from Latin American nations has ranged from the severing of diplomatic ties with the island, to the reestablishment of relations at a later period. Fear of the spreading of similar insurrections, as well as feelings of Latin American solidarity, are examples of factors that have contributed to these shifts. Cuban revolutionary leaders also considered relations between the island and its neighbors, because of their close proximity and shared cultural and historical connections, to be of primary importance in Cuba s international affairs. In its relations with the other American republics, Cuba s attitude is not one of separation but rather friendship. This attitude will have priority over the rest of our international relations (26th of July Movement 138 139). Cuba and Latin America in the 1960 s The decade following the revolution saw the deterioration of diplomatic ties between Cuba and many Latin American counties. One of the main reasons for this was because after the success of the revolution in Cuba, Castro and his supporters began calling for revolt throughout Latin America. In various regions in the area, Castro mounted invasions, trained guerrillas, sent propaganda and money to fidelista groups, and occasionally dispatched arms and even personnel to support guerrilla activities (Wright 41). This caused many Latin American leaders to suspend their relations with Cuba for fear that the spread of rebellion would lead to their deposition. According to Wright, Latin America was especially vulnerable to upset by the impact of the Cuban Revolution since many of its countries political institutions had shallow roots (42). The instability that characterized much of Latin American politics in the 1960 s led to a number of uprisings in various ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Difference Between Supernatural And Supernatural In today s production of films, ghosts and paranormal beings are a popular topic. However, even with today s modern science, there is no legitimate proof of ghosts or spirits. When unexplainable things happen when no one else is around, the idea of a paranormal being might seem rational. Despite the speculation of the phenomenon, what exactly is paranormal activity and how do residual areas become haunted by these spirits? The terms supernatural and paranormal are often confused. Supernatural is relating more to faith or something we cannot completely comprehend or prove with our sciences. Where as paranormal is something that cannot be explained with current knowledge and technology, but most likely has a scientific reason for why it s happening. (Kelly) The difference between both supernatural and paranormal has to do with being able to explain and understand the paranormal with whatever available science. Religion might often be pushed into the category for supernatural, as with the science available, we cannot fully explain ideologies of religion. With the paranormal, mediocre equipment is used to supposedly make contact with the supernatural. It s believed that the supernatural will eventually be able to be explained with advanced science. There have been many reports of residual areas all around Kansas that have been determined as either haunted or rich with paranormal activity. A famous example is the Topeka State Hospital, which was an asylum that was in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

We spend millions of dollars each year trying to help or prevent the onset of obesity. Some of the reasons are due to our youth consuming more processed foods and not being physically active. However, we as a society cannot just blame the laziness and not eating the correct types of foods as the cause for obesity. This problem is more complex than people think and we can fix it, but we do need government cooperation. There are many causes of obesity some of which are poverty, food insecurity, parenting, and physical activity. The United States has the highest amount of people below the poverty line in its history. Since these people make below $20,000 dollars a year, their only way of feeding themselves is buying the cheapest food. The cheapest food in a food market is almost always processed food.
