This document discusses the evolution of instructional materials design. Effective materials usually include goals aligned with course requirements, accurate and up-to-date information, well-organized content, appropriate reading levels, and an absence of biases. While textbooks remain the most common format, technology has increased the importance of visual presentation with features like graphics and typefaces. Instructional materials should be practical, aligned, cover content comprehensively, be readable, outline methods and assessments, and enable management.
The process of designing quality performance tasks and projects involves attending to three major elements:
The design of the activity in which students will be engaged
The standards or outcomes that are being addressed by the activity
The traits or criteria used to assess the activity
Often times, teachers master the art of writing very good cognitive and psychomotor instructional objectives. So good that what happens is that most of the students become not only intelligent but "airheads". Some also will aim for the grade, but after that enduring grading period, or semester, they forget everything. Affective objectives help the students appreciate the lessons, retain them longer, and find connections in the real world (yes, algebra is present in the market place). Affective objectives help the teacher integrate values formation in all subjects/courses.

Effectiveness and Acceptability of Instructional Materials in the Enhancement...IJAEMSJORNAL
The study examined the effectiveness and acceptability of the instructional materials developed by the faculty of the College of Management and Business Technology (CMBT) of the Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST). The sample consisted of selected instructional materials developed by the said Department. This included the instructional materials being used by the Master of Business Administration and Doctor of Philosophy in Business Administration of the Graduate School. The research employed the descriptive design where eighty-eight respondents were purposively selected. The parameters in the instrument used were the instructional content, procedure, relevance, knowledge and practical applications, clarity, development of higher thinking skills, and alignment with the thrusts and goals and objectives of the University. The following findings were made: the total weighted mean got 3.55 with verbal description of “Very Satisfactory” indicated that the instructional materials developed by CMBT faculty were acceptable, except for the item friendliness of figures which got a “Needs Improvement” rating. Recommendations for the enhancement and continuous development of instructional materials were also made.
