IPC would be a good choice for Samuel Smith's music magazine as they were pioneers in audience-specific magazines and musical magazines, gaining extensive experience over many years. Bauer could also be a good option as the largest private publishing group in Europe, with a history of long-lasting magazines spanning 15 countries since 1953, suggesting Smith's magazine could also have longevity. Both companies innovated new tactics to increase sales above competitors and engage audiences through prizes and interest-focused publications.

• IPC are a good choice as they were the first
company to do several new tactics to get their
sales better than any other with competitions
and major prizes of money. They also created
audience specific magazines for people with
certain interests. They would be good for me as
in 1943 they released their musical magazines
which were the first ones so they have had many
years experience with music magazines.

3. Bauer
• Bauer would be a good alternative as they are
Europe’s largest privately owned publishing
group. They publish over 300 magazines to 15
different countries and they do all the same
things that IPC do just to a wider audience.
Some of the first magazines that they published
in 1953 are still being published to this date. This
would be good for me as they have long lasting
magazines which means that as long a grime is
around so will my magazine.
