The document discusses how the internet was used extensively for research and planning in creating a media project that included a music video, digital album cover (digipak), and advertisement. Various websites were used to research different genres of music, album covers, and artists. The internet also allowed the creator to make a blog to document the project planning and get feedback. Soundcloud and YouTube were used to choose the song "Same Love" by Macklemore by listening to music videos. Google was used to research Macklemore's background and views as well as topics like homophobia. A flip camera, iMovie, and YouTube were used to film interviews for feedback, edit videos, and share the project blog posts.
June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

While they pose environmental challenges, ongoing research and development aim to create more sustainable and eco-friendly alternatives. Understanding the importance of synthetic fibers helps in appreciating their role in the economy, industry, and daily life, while also emphasizing the need for sustainable practices and innovation.
Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin

Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

Evaluation Question 4
1.
2. The internet was a very important aspect of the research and planning stage of my project.
Being an endless source of information, it was very useful to me for all research I carried out
– looking into different genres of music, different categories of music videos, different album
covers, different artist digipak’s, etc. Using the internet allowed me to create my media blog
and ensure it was very informative, creating a visualisation of all my ideas and every part of
my research, also allowing me to gain feedback from my media teacher on other areas I
could research in order to contribute to both my media blog and project.
The research and planning stage of my project was vital in filming and successfully creating my
music video along with the digipak and advertisement. Before I began filming my video, I
had to decide on the song I wanted to use. I used websites such as soundcloud and youtube
to listen to and watch the videos for different songs for free, in order to help me decide on
the song I wanted to use. After careful consideration, I decided on Macklemore – Same Love.
3. The above screenshot is an examples of how I used the internet to find out more about
Macklemore. Although I already knew who Macklemore was, I still needed to learn more
about his background, his views etc. as I felt it would help better my understanding of the
concept behind his song ‘Same Love’. I did this using google. I also used google to find out
more about homophobia, the different types of homophobia and the reasons for
homophobia. I felt this would help when filming my video as it would allow me to know
how to understand it from different points of view and allow me to address the issue
without being insensitive about it.
4. At the post production stage of my project, I wanted to ensure my music
video would appeal to my target audience. I decided to conduct some
research in the form of a focus group, interviewing one media student and
one non-media student to see what they thought about my video. I did this
using a flip cam to film the interview, before uploading it onto iMovie so I
could then edit the clips. Once the clips were edited, I then uploaded it onto
YouTube. This allowed me to share the video on my blog by embedding the
link of theYouTube video onto my blog.
5. I then used my blog to show the research and planning I carried out.Through my blog, you
can see the different things that influence my decisions, and how I have challenged the
generic conventions of pop/rap videos, digipaks and advertisements.
6. The construction of my project also played a very big part in the success of my music video.
Having to create a music video, advert and digipak meant I had to use a wide range of
different technology. When filming my music video, I used a flipcam. Using a flipcam as
opposed to a camcorder benefitted me as it meant I was able to carry it around easily, in
my pocket or my bag for any unplanned video shooting opportunities. It also allowed me to
perfect my video clips, as I was able to review them immediately and re-shoot as needed.
7. Creating a music video that would hold my target audience’s attention for the duration of
the video was challenging, so I had to ensure the editing of my video was effective in doing
so.When editing my music video, I decided to use iMovie. Having used iMovie to edit my
thriller opening at AS, I was already familiar with most of the different features and
functions of the software and was therefore able to get straight into the editing. Using
iMovie I was able to effectively sync the song to my visuals in order to add some lip syncing
into my music video which I thought came out very well, and received positive feedback for
the accuracy of the lip syncing. I also used iMovie to edit the opening clip/title page of my
music video, which took me quite a while to do as it involved me cutting and editing the
same clip a large number of times, however I felt this added to the creativity of my video as
it allowed me to give my video an interesting title page as opposed to a generic boring title
opening.
